It used to work, i had already phase 3 skips with a 4 mesmer setup. 4 projectiles for each “thing” under feedback. Was changed already a while ago, though. Can’t reflect more than 20 projectiles now while 17-19 is normal.

Hit three targets and welcome permanent 25 stacks of might.
Against bosses where you only hit one target it’s still 8-9 stacks might (+3-4 from WA) which do a LOT of difference in a non 100% optimized party. Also in optimized parties you often hang around with 20-22 stacks instead of 25 stacks because the duration doesn’t stack. Use a greatsword and you’re at perma 25.

Uhm. 20 min UW runs were casuals. Speedruns were 14-16 min.
Also i did DoA about 5 times in total, my worst run was 1 hour, my second worst 40 minutes. And i was totally carried.

You simply can’t say pug times are normal times.

Plus, the difference between 30/25/0/0/15 and 30/10/0/0/30 is marginal in a group while 30/25/0/0/15 wins by far in situations without 2-3 more warriors.
The difference is 3% critchance and 15% critdamage vs 10% overall damage. Note that theese 10% overall damage work out as more than 15% critdmg.
And hey, isn’t Forceful Greatsword (not sure if thats the name, 20% cooldown and might on hit for gs) a dps trait, too?

Have been looking for one for a while, without success. Probably the one you started brought the overall most ‘competent’ players together you can find in the european gw2 scene.

I started with AC path 1, still extremely easy to duo with ele+whatever. AC path 3 is quite easy two. Both paths require a lot dps though, warrior+ele is optimal composition. Aside from that, CM is pretty easy to duo, just like TA. SE path 1 pretty easy too and arah paths 2-3 if you are looking for some more challenge.

Good job on AC story, i wiped like 10 times the first time i tried to duo it. Well, never done before and didn’t knew how to fight ralena and vassar ._.

Yeah. The dev. Spamming skills without cooldowns makes any class a superclass.

I somehow get never kicked out of parties even if it had been close to sometimes. Lately i joined an experienced arah path run of the guild [BONE]. It went… mediocre until crusher and hunter. I told them to LoS the mobs but they prefered fighting headless. No big deal, i disabled the mages (was running mesmer). Didn’t LoS the 4 silvermobs but pulling them to start so “NPCs can tank”. Then at crusher and Hunter 4 guys begin to… range attack the crusher while i go for the hunter. After ~2 minutes im done with the hunter and ask why they don’t melee. Answer: range is more damage, 35k instead of 20k. I ask: 20/35k what? “20000 and 35000!” DPS??? “No, gw2 doesnt measure damage in dps.”
I was like wtf but didn’t say anything. At lupicus i start to melee but they tell me i should range. Fine, stood there, dodging every single grub spawn and summoning phantasms on lupicus. In phase 2 they all go down and i feedback him to phase 3. They went out of fight, sometimes someone attempted to join the fight (1200 range+) but ran away if lupicus turned around. At wraithlord ritual they tell me to come into the middle (before wraiths spawned). I said “no, im not kittened enough to draw aggro when your warrior said he will kite”. Someone tells me i’m a noob and i should come in. Wraiths spawn, i turn circles red. I begin telling them their tactics are kitten and they shouldn’t look out for experienced players but for players who totally carry them. That they suck and learn to use melee weapons and that dps is what matters in gw2. They finally shut up getting all downed on wraithlord. I’m finishing the fight – and didn’t get kicked. Probably they realized i did 95% of the run.

Anyway, i feel sorry for you. The best advice i can give you: don’t do fractals. And if you do, don’t pug fractals. People always start leaving my groups when i tell them mesmer GS/Guardian scepter sucks in dredge where you need cleave damage.

Once more, where are those fabulous 100b screens refering to your dps calculations?

Also P4 isn’t super long, it’s 25 minutes in a 4 warrior 1 mesmer/guardian group (we stopped using both already a while ago because it’s simply a dps loss). Well yeah, in a 3 ranger 1 engi 1 guardian group it may take forever.

That’s the attitude that bothers me, Dub. The idea that a person who prefers that archetype cannot be hardcore or good at the game by definition. Just to be clear you’re only talking pve, right? Even so, it bothers me. Look at Skady Valda. She has more PvE proficiency than everyone I personally know (she knows every boss fight perfectly, never dies, rarely loses pets, leads guild missions perfectly, etc), with 6 world completions and 12 legendary weapons, I dare say she is both good and hardcore, as well as a trading post genius.

Also, I might add that (in response to your assertion that every test shows awful dps), none of your compatriots took fortifying bond or really theorcrafted much at all. They even admit that several times. It’s hard to fairly compare a perfected speed run to a team comp that’s not even close to optimized. I’m not saying ranger would end up attractive at the end, I’m just saying, you know…do a fair comparison and invite people like me who know what they’re doing with the class. That is all, also, for the record, I’m a fan of what dnt does. Good luck out there fellas, let me know if you want to try some real tests. If DnT doesn’t want to help, I’m willing to theorycraft ranger with anyone out of joy of the game.

No clue who that is but anyone who really cares about beeing efficient or contributing would never bring a ranger to dungeons except for trolling/fun reasons.

That “profession xxx isn’t bad, it’s just the players” is really old. And only particulary true. There are no “good” (my consideration) ranger players. Any “good” player will see how bad that class is and reroll.

Also, this thread is about ranger dps. And to measure if ranger dps is good or bad you have to compare it to other professions. And when you compare it to warrior dps you see that ranger dps is terrible. And everyone but kittened people agree on this.

Your friends simply haven’t been able to play warrior properly if there was no feelable difference.

Depends on your consideration of exploits. Is attacking mobs through walls one? CM should still be doable without though.

Without any exploits doable are AC Path 1, (2,) 3, CM, TA, CoE 3 (i believe, think randomfightfan did one without exploits) and arah path 2+3. Not on all professions, though.

I just see two explanations for your behavior left that make sense.

1) You are kittened, but not in any good way.
2) You are crazy/paranoid/silly/unable to read and respond.

Which is particulary caused by the slower killing time. If guang has been a warrior the slaver driver would have probably died in timewarp.

The long path to lupicus in p1 is actually due to a bug that’s been around since launch. If you notice the extra way point that spawns in p3 that confuses everyone. That way point is suppose to spawn in p1 after the tar elemental boss kill. For some reason the devs still have not fixed this which baffles me. In p3 you can use the wp but you cannot go anywhere as the door is still locked. Also in p2 the wp spawns after killing the berserker boss. This makes it pretty obvious its suppose to spawn in p1 but just never does.

People actually tried but all we saw from those test is that guangs suggestions were trash. Also, sad to say, you seem to lack of gw2 knowledge to participate any deeper.
You are indeed right that dmg/time=dps isn’t the best solition when min/maxing but it’s at least much better than theorycrafting with incomplete data.

Thing is – just play with a 4 war 1 mes team and compare the damage to a engi, ranger, warrior, guardian, mes group – the difference in damage is extreme, not letting any doubt what is the better setup.

Just beacuse warrior does in it’s first 7s 15k dps doesn’t represent the fact that for the next 8s when he waits for his cooldowns he does bugger all (exagerating, but you get the gist)

You can just axe-autoattack on a warrior and still outdps any guardian/engineer/ranger by FAR.

What I dont get is Guang that different people offered you help to even get the classes you would need for your idea and you dont jump on it. Calculations are nice, sure but nothing is more of a proof than an actual video. I used to make videos to illustrate my point. The problem is that people literally only look at the biggest number that appears at any point in the video. I’ve got like, four videos on my Youtube channel of warriors being outdpsed by three different classes, and the response was pretty much “BUT MY HB DOES 40K”. I had this exact same discussion a while back, of both my ranger and pet hitting between 3-4k per swing in an unbuffed group in CoF (which isn’t even level 80) and what I got in response was a bunch of screencaps of warrior HB numbers.

The problem is that videos still require you to do the exact same thing that everyone here seems to hate, which is simple addition. Why do you think I bring up big numbers so much? You could take a screencap of an engineer hitting a mob 8 times with Grenade Barrage for 1.5k per hit and put that next to a cap of a warrior hitting a mob once for 5k and most people out there would probably think the warrior is dealing more total damage.

I’ve also met people in-game who think the warrior’s entire axe chain is a quarter second long because that’s the activation time listed on the tooltip when you mouse over it. Quite a few, actually. You’d be surprised at how often I hear “My warrior hits 6 times for 4k every quarter second so that’s almost 100k per second.”

It would be funny if these weren’t the people I am forced to party with when not enough of my friends are on for a full team.

Actually your videos didn’t show any warriors beeing out dps’ed by you. Your videos showed that your dps (damage per second, really noone has ever been arguing with 100b here) is actually even pretty bad for your guardian. And still way lower than warriors damage. It’s really easy to prove that, just analyze your video like “from point a to point b – in 10 seconds i did 6 hits for 3k and 9 hits for 2k”. In total that comes to 18+18k=36k. 36k in 10 seconds is 3.6k dps. When a warrior now does twice 40k and 4 attacks for 5k each, that totals in 60k in 10 seconds, thus 6k dps.
Your videos show kitten and your calculations are incomplete. End.

Edit: Please dont take theese example numbers serious… i think you even know what dps means but something else must be going on wrong.

I just did some testings and reflected for 29k took out some other weird traits that shouldn’t have any effect and it went to 25k – well, was missing bloodlust stacks on second try too. Well, our party composition was warrior, warrior, ranger and me as mesmer so with 25 stacks might and vuln those 31k reflects seem realistic.

16-18k when soloing.

Yes.

He doesn’t even seem to know much about lupicus. Lupicus is one of those encounters where burst damage is not more important than sustained.
