Did it with GS+Axe/Horn.
Sword is unusable because of autoattacks making unable to move/dodge.
GS Autoattack sucks horrible too though because #3 interrupts dodges.
And i needed about 10 minutes to solo phase 1. I feel very, very sorry for you rangers.
When i wasn’t letting my pet die (well, impossible it suicided on even only one locust) locusts and GL would have kittened me up by air-hitting or simply bubbling all over me.
I’ve been using 30/15/15/x/x, dont remember.
After my first few hours of playing ranger and almost solo’ing lupicus (failing at 10% health, probably going to redo it today…) i just have to say that ranger is definitely the worst profession in pve. I always knew rangers were extremely weak but after playing one myself now i was shocked – how can a profession deal less damage than a mesmer without reflection, clones or phantasms. Meleeing Phase 1 was kind of horrible, first of all the pet was annoying but luckily it was gone after a few seconds because it cant even survive one locust. Second thing is the autoattack chain. GS Autoattack #3 interrupts dodgerolls after 0.1 seconds. It basically is an evade too, but doesn’t always work when it should. The third thing is the damage, as already described. Meleeing phase 1 Lupicus took me 10! Minutes. Even a ranged mesmer is faster, however that can be possible.
And that was only Lupicus, for other content the Sword Autoattack Chain makes you unable to control your character, pet will activate itself whenever you enter combat (even by just taking alling damage) and draw more aggro than i imagined (that it would after the “patch”).
So there is just one thing left to say: i feel so unbelievable sorry for you rangers because really in every situation a 4 men team is better than a 5 men team with a ranger. Going to complete the lupicus solo and then never touch a ranger again.
I went down once because of some dodge bug where my second dodge out of a rapidfire didn’t get me evade messages but damage numbers after some delay instead.
The video 2x original speed.
The less you move, the less lupicus bubbles. The more he rapidfires, though.

Just as for my engineer solo im now looking for a good ranger build to solo lupicus.
SI will need:
-small amounts of swiftness
-aoe damage for phase 1, not really interested in bothering with locusts in phase 2
-(if possible permanent) vigor
-one evade to get out of bubbles (stability/invuln) would be great.
-maximum damage possible for rangers
-a pet that hopefully will stay passive all time and not draw any aggro (will letting it die work?)
-direct heal, nothing like troll thingy
Thanks for advice!
Not tested with wall after the update. Though it’s way harder to get all clones into the wall.
His rapidfire can still be reflected but it had only partly to do with the number of people behind wall/feedback. So i won’t be able to tell if something changed there.
If weth tested this, i’ll trust it!
99%.
We were 5 mesmers at lupicus, everyone with 3 clones and some with hounds of balthasar and tried multiple times. I was the only one who used feedback and reflected 20 blasts at most. Previously i already had runs with less clones where i did reflect about twice as much.
@haviz: Are you sure those dont bounce? Because even if their destination is far away they seem to land directlu under him sometimes. But maybe those are other projectiles whichs destination simply isnt drawn.
Me and a friend just tested this with warrior Axe/Axe #5 in the middle of 5 mobs. in 3 seconds healed for ~900 health.
Edit: I used Potion of Undead Slaying, Omnomberry Ghost and the traits from Kyzen’s first build. I just already did lupcius solos with 6 professions, so this wasn’t a big deal for me. If anyone would be so nice to give me a level 80 ranger to try on, i’d probably do it first try again.

That Risen Illusionist wasn’t very happy about you uploading this!
Definitely true, i won’t ever touch an engineer again unless grenade kit attacks are made auto-attackable.
They bounce.
The more annoyig fact is that they limited the maximum reflections to 20 ._.
There is no point to doing the dungeons at all. None.
I manage to make around 20g/hour when running arah and having lots of fun doing so.
How is there no point in doing dungeons?
hahaha, trying to get bubble, my ass, you’re standing still 90% of the time, anyways goodjob nontheless.
I really was!
@Zogyark: I don’t believe i will do such a painful thing ever again.
Well, worked out pretty easy once i got my fingers to just work like a machine ._.
Used some random green/rare MF set and 30/10/0/20/10. Was pretty sloppy since it has been my first 30 minutes of playing engineer ever :P
Turned out to be quite easy, was my first hour of playing engineer and my first try on lupi solo with engineer where i got further than phase 1. I pretty often restarted ohase 1 because MY FINGERS DO kittenING HURT, spamming buttons over and over without autoattack. Anyway, i had some green/rare/exotic (1 piece!) level 76-78 MF armor on so don’t expect to see huge numbers flying around.
Build was 30/10/0/20/10 (thanks for that nice guy in engi forums who gave me a tip) and uhm yeah. Here’s the video: http://youtu.be/gbuWTtRQMwY
Feel free to take me down for beeing unable to properly use engineers :P
That fight is a pure finger-kitten .
Now i understand why noone did it so far.
Lel, i do this with green trinket, lvl 76 exotic armor and some rare rifle.
If you want i can wait for you and do my necro solo first…. even if i’d have to give him proper equipment too ._.
Ever saw Lupicus fighting a (dead) pet? He pretends to be a child again (do Giganticus Lupicus’ have a childhood?) and bubbles each 8 seconds.
No, thats from kiting. Lupicus casts necrid trap on running players. IMHO you shouldn’t lose a pet fighting Lupicus. Contrary to popular opinion—and as demonstrated by players like Obal—most bosses in Arah heavily favor melee, even Lupicus.
Wait, didn’t you get that info from me?
Anyway, it’s wrong. It’s not neither running, nor players. It’s generally based on movement and since pets can’t stop shuffling they get bubbled extremely often. I never played Arah as ranger though but what i saw last times we had one in our group was really, really funny.
After Patch i’ve done it several times on guardian, warrior, mesmer, once on ele and (not sure if this was post or pre nerf) on thief. Got my engineer up now, just have to equip him properly.
Thanks a lot Kyzen, i’ll use something similar like 30/10/0/0/30 because 4/5 seconds vigor is enough and i wont need the elexir recharge if everything works well. First attempts going to be recorded tomorrow or this evening.
Edit: Just realised i need 10 in vitality :P

Sup guys, just getting my engineer to level 80 tomorrow withou ever having plaeyed it for real. The only reason im doing this is to do a (legit) solo of lupicus, since i havent seen any engineer bothering with it so far.
Regarding that i never played him i have some problems with finding a build that fulfills the following requirements:
- “good dps”, the highest dps in solo situations, not relying on vuln and might too much (there is not always enough time to set fire fields and finish them up via blast finishers).
- one sigil of energy since i need the extra endurance. does this trigger when i swap from pistol/shield to grenadekit?
-if possible a passive way to gain vigor i.e. like guardian or mesmer?
- a decent healing skill (im not going to use the medkit).
- a least one way to gain stability/invulnerability with a ~40 sevonds cooldown. otherwise two ways. i knoe elexir s grants 3 sec invuln with a 75 sec dc tho
- has reflect skills if possible (ive heard about engineers having one)
Would be really nice from you people if you could give me a build and tell me which runes i shall use (thought about scholars but will change to lyssa/altruism if i cant get vigor with other ways). My equipment will be full berserker, as long as i am able to survive one p2 aoe projectile.
No, not trolling. The greatsword throw of the champion orrian warrior (which is similar to warriors skill bladetrail) can’t be dodged.
No, elementalists would no longer kill themselves in one Feedback+Curtain combo.
Ever saw Lupicus fighting a (dead) pet? He pretends to be a child again (do Giganticus Lupicus’ have a childhood?) and bubbles each 8 seconds.
This is a very well known issue making him much harder than Lupicus or even Simin to solo!
Spider queen shouldn’t have been made unskippable, the most stupid idea Anet ever had regarding the AC revamp.
Followed close by making the colossus rumbulus fight based on a kittened suicidal NPC.
Killing the Crusher first is stupid.
When the Hunter was dead once, he will completely stop using the poison field and rarely imobilizes. Additionally, he dies when the Crusher dies.
-> Additional time effort: 0 seconds.
Easier and faster, no longer luring the Crusher out of the field.
I regulary run arah in 15-20 minutes. Almost never with a full party until alphard/wraithlord/jotun stargazer.
I want to see anyone doing that without “exploiting” (skipping). Noone will be able to, therefore can anyone tell me how it isn’t worth it?
Phase 1: should be easy to breal aggro, just run away.
Phase 2: wait until he starts his aoe then run for your life.
Phase 3: wait until he lifts into the air, doubledodge away and then start running.
Lol. That would make warriors even stronger in comparison to other professions.
Movement speed is not just about swiftness. It’s about leaps – and even if a mesmer would have perma 33%it’d still be one of the slowest professions.
@Assassin: impressive, still i see warriors (and traited thieves) a bit faster.
And the rest of us dislikes those glas cannons that think they are any good outside of a pure dps oriented group.
Pure dps oriented group failing at lupi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvaZYxGG23w
I had wrong build, no bloodlust stacks and didn’t do lupicus for about a week
It is not a content issue.
It is not a content issue.

@Voy Hollow
It’s not only CoF 1 but FotM 30+ too. Here you have the “2 Guard minimum rule” if you want to get past it as fast as possible, and of course you take as few glass cannons with you as possible.
But you are right, you can do every dungeon that is not about either max dps or max survivability with every combination of professions.
At least 2 guardians? As few glasscannons as possible? Thats one reason why i hate FotM, encounters becoming even more boring because people think any not dps focused setup would be good. I still hate FotM in good groups (5 berserkers, at least 3 warriors) because of boring long bosses, though.
I do always plan in to get downed to get through content faster.
I’d rather 100b a mage on 50%, get downed, throw 1 rock and rally instead of run 20 seconds around to range him down.
Whats so hard realizing that this is a profession balance issue and isn’t caused by the content?
Staff. Chaos Storm alone wins over the whole greatsword.
Staff is OK. Great in some situations even. But how have you been arguing that mes are not that useful because of low dps and then recommend staff which is a purely defensive wep?
Lots of AoE Vulnerability (Daze), Protection, Aegis. Also iWarlock pulls out much more damage than berserker and dies less often than warden.
Yeah i got that, but that wasn’t what i’ve been talking about too :P
Let me spoil it for you, a bottle.
And hot-fixed!
