Even if it probably isn’t 100% legit – push him into a wall and stand in his red circe.
No rapidfire and no bubbles making the fight a lot more enjoyable.

Anyway, why is it so hard for me to believe anyone’s doing dungeons with a ranger O.o

With 30/30/0/10/0 i have:

5% to burning foes
10% attuned to fire
5% to burning foes again
(30% chance to cause burning on hit)
same air traits plus vuln&one of choice (20% to disabled foes)
10% while health is above 90% (mostlikely always)

So a total of 30% + ~5% through vuln and in quick fights (like silvermobs) extra 20% → 55% in best case.
But only 35% in most situations.

So overall 20/25/0/25/0 would turn out with some slightly better results, but not a difference of 4k on AA’s.

As i said, whatever it is, it just didn’t work for me.

I want the elementalist to be a viable replacement for a warrior in dungeons. That can ne achieved by a good melee autoattack chain with some damage and probably an extra evade.

I’m sorry to tell you… but all mesmer weapons suck in PvE Dungeons.
Mesmers deal crap damage, thats why. 2 warriors are dealing way more damage than 5 Mesmers. Mesmers are good for portal, timewarp and feedback – nothing else.

No, i’m not using traits or even spend skillpoints.

Jokes aside: always using berserker equip with scholar runes, 30/30/0/10/0 focusing on damage (sometimes for bosses 30/20/0/0/20 for vigor). Im somehow dealing more damage with staff autoattacks than with lightning hammer.

Haviz could probably give you better feedback than me, i’ve seen him smashing Hunters in Arah for 10k+ in Solo Runs. For some reason the loghtning hammer seems to not work normal since i autoattack for less than 3k on a full berserker build :/.

@OP: From 1 to 10, when 1 is garbage and 10 is useful, a knight GS Mesmer wold probably make it to 0.5.

You’re doing it completely wrong. Just Melee him and when he starts his AoE dodge backwards and then foreward. If you are a Mesmer you can also use Feedback and stand still, as a Guardian you can use Wall of Reflection and Retreat.

Lots of people from gw1 know the site but almost none of them do still play gw2.
Skipping trash is much more rewarding than killing. You save so much time and the most money comes from tokens. I’d be horribly poor if i had always killed everything in my way.

Depending on the dungeon i take my Warrior, Mesmer ( not to fully carry though, just to portal around) or Ele. Also Rangers can solo dungeons, guardians aswell. Thieves too and i necros at least AC and CM.
But a warrior will mostlikely always be better to carry than a guardian or ranger. IlIt’s all about DPS.

All new stuff in dungeons is going to be hard for the first few days. We see it all the time with new content – people fail and get knocked down when they aren’t used to that sort of thing, and they claim it is too difficult.
Give it a week or so for everyone to develop strategies, learn encounters, and build fundamentals, and they will claim it is too easy. Trust me when I say this, the numbers are punishing (but less than they were before), but knowing the mechanics will greatly mitigate the danger.

Thank God ArenaNet has this mentality. That is the correct way of doing this! This is a GAME. This is exactly what is supposed to happen. You find an obstacle, you study that obstacle and it becomes easier. Anything else is bull… or a bunch of spoiled kids. I have ran dungeons where we died around 11 times on a boss. Some would give up. But never, not once, when the players continued we were not able to kill the boss and think it wasn’t so hard after all. That we could do it again. Where do I find more players with that mentality?

It took “us” (2 Players and me) about 2 hours to get new duo tacticts for AC Path 1&3 to accomplish them in 7-8 (p1) and 10-12 (p3) minutes DUO.
Anyway, we’ve done AC 6-12 times / path before the patch and had fun doing it. After the update with new tactics we continued it until we set up some good time, solo’d path 1+2 and then… just stopped. Ive had an Idea to solo the burrow event in path 3, done it and was too lazy to finish the run. Because we stopped doing AC. And noone would care now anyway.

The Dungeon remains easy but doesn’t feel comfortable anymore.

There are many places where I would die way too much running Zerker gear.

For me the zerker concept only works if you know the whole team is doing it.

5 Berserkers work very well in every Dungeon, better than any other group. That what i wanted to say. Though, even as the only berserker in a team you still won’t die just because of your equipment. You cannot tank in GW2 anyway, running defensive equipment ist just more forgiving but screws down dps. If you can’t survive – no problem. But better keep trying until you do instead of staying on defensive equipment and offer nothing at all. I prefer Berserker Warriors who die after 30 seconds over Soldier Warriors who die after 2 minutes. Because in those 30 seconds they pulled off more damage than the Soldier one would do in the whole run.

I always start Lupicus with pulling him into the middle of the arena in phase 1.
And i let him stay there until phase 3, fighting at walls annoys much anyway because of the camera angle.

Of course i cannot force anyone to run a specific build but i’d rather tell them that their actual setu kitten hit than letting them run it so they never have a learning effect. When someone tells me i should bring some specific skill to SE (never really did that dungeon) i will bring that skills, just to improve the run even if i do not know when exactly to use it. Would you ever do a dungeon with four “5-Sig-Wars” with Soldiers Equipment? I hope not.

Tbh, Mantra of Concentration (the only skill that grants mesmers stability) is total crap.
But mesmers do not need stability at Lupicus. Lots of Invulnerability (GL uses Necrid Trap → Sword 2, dodge while skill active → get out of the bubble) like F4 and teleports. Blink, Sword 3 and Staff 2.

What you forgot:

- Using defensive Equipment (P/V/T or similars).

I do not know any situation in whole GW2 Dungeons where berserker’s equipment wouldn’t be the best choice by far. You just screw down DPS to survive longer yourself. Nothing else. It’s same as doing fight’s ranged that are easily doable melee.

- Not following the advice of more experienced players.

I’ve lately had a 5 Signet Warrior who refused to change his Utility Skills. In the party have also been a P/V/T Guardian without Wall of Reflection, Stand your Ground or Retreat. And a Mesmer using 3 Signets and Hounds of Balthasar. They all didn’t listen, died at fighting, died at running, died at.. everything. And didn’t even do damage.

5 Rangers doing Arah Path 2 in less than 15 minutes? I’d like to see that.
4 Warriors and 1 Mesmer (all berserker) is probably the best team-setup for every dungeon except AC. A (berserker/knight) guardian just make the run feel more comfortable.

Also, which path is the easiest for me to get to Lupicus so I can go there and try it solo, so I can practice it?

I always chose path 2 on my warrior/guardian and path 3 on my mesmer. For path 3 you need portal and experimental teleportation pistols because of the lightning orb part. Focus reflection build helps a lot at crusher/hunter.

The thing isn’t that professions like necromancer, engineer, elementalist or whatever are not able to do dungeons at all. But why would you choose an engineer when you can have a warrior that deals 8 times more damage and grants buffs to the group. Warrior damage isn’t OP, dungeons with 4 Warrior 1 Mesmer teams just take as long as they are (from my point of view) supposed to be. The problem is that most professions are UP, because dealing trash damage and not offering offensive support. And the problem with the ranger… is the pet. I would prefer a level 40 thief over any level 80 ranger in Arah.

Hey,

always when i’m online with my internet stick (pending between 1-3 MB/s) i do not have any problems with activating skills or lags, but a huge problem with dodging.
Basically, a boss starts his attack, i dodge, on my screen im in the air, in the middle of my dodge roll – and i take the whole damage while i sometimes still get the message “Evaded”.
Though, there’s a delay from me pressing the skill to the character acting, plus a delay between when the dodge is shown on my screen and GW2 really thinks i dodge.
The funny thing about this is that when i press dodge ~1 second before the boss will start his attack, my character will start dodging ~0.5 seconds before the start of the boss attack animation and when i stand still and the damage should hit me because i stand still right in the attack circle, i won’t get the message “Evaded” but neither take any damage.
My latency to GW2 is mostly between 100 and 200, just same as when im online with wlan. With wlan (horrible connection, sometimes 50kbit/s, sometimes 80mbit/s) i do not have any delay on my dodge. Neither between pressing the skill until my character acts nor from my character acting to “really dodging”.

This isn’t a problem in 90% of the game’s content, but i only do dungeons. Can you imagine how it feels getting kitten by Bosses over and over again, not because you did something wrong but because the game decides to let you die?
Example: GL, phase 1 is basically easily doable with the delay, the grub spawn i dodge when his hand is at the lowest point (instead of when its right in the air, like most players do lol) and the kick “always” happens ~2 moments after the grub/locust spawn.
Phase 2 is okay too, i just dodge the aoe before his animation will finish, stand still on him for the next second and the red circles wont do anything to me. but at least when it comes to phase 3, i dodge right in the second when he’s starting his bubble animation, pop stability and get out but still take 1 damage tick. Or his AoE Lifeleech, i basically doubledodge/WA out but still get every single damage hit, while evading.

To sum it up: its frustrating and i’d like to know what this is caused by and how i can fix it. Thanks.

Edit: After watching the slow version of the video, i now can add that i get the damage before the attack should reach me….

Another way to look at the out-of-control difficulty of AC versus even Arah. You can solo Arah. It’s way, way hard, but doable. You cannot solo AC.

Uhm.
If i may quote myself:

“Ele, Nec, other professions: Why shouldn’t it be possible?”

That means: Im pretty sure it is possible. I’ve been duo’ing GL for quite a while with 2 eles, farming path 3.

Necromancers have 0 utilities. That’s why it would be difficult for them to fight GL.
Fighting this boss is not about damage, but it’s about the capability to dodge/evade
all/most of his attacks. Necromancers no way of obtaining Vigor. They don’t have IMMUNITY, and at most, they have Stability, but they would need all 30 points put into Soul Reaping. They also do not have any abilities with hidden dodge or movement.
At most, they can teleport with a Worm, but it will most likely (over 90% of the time) die from the AoE. Plus, using it will kill the Worm. We have ZERO endurance gains.

Elementalists have lots of Utility, healing, and survivability. I can see the possibilities here. I don’t think anyone is unaware of their large potentials in all areas of the game.

Engineers have lots of Blinds + Blocking. I’m not sure if they have Stability or movement utility spells. This could be up for debate.

Still waiting on a response for this.

Necromancers have Deathshroud which will consume quite much damage in the fight.
Endurance gain via Sigil of Energy, like other professions. Stability isn’t a requirement to do Lupicus, it just helps in the case he uses his bubble. Keep pushing him (stand right in his aggro circle) and the only attacks he will use are lifeleech and AoE lifeleech.
Necromancers got a teleport btw, DS Skill 2.

You could run CoF 1 twice in the time it takes to do AC3.

That can’t be true if you can’t do 4,5-5 min CoF Path 1 Runs from entrance to reward.
Regarding average pug times it clearly is, though.
