SAB is soloable. World 2 might be a pain by yourself if you’re not good with jumping, though.

I’m great at jumping but I can’t go in SAB. Whether it’s soloable or not is meaningless. As long as it states ‘suggested: 5 players’, it’s group content. I don’t group.

This makes no sense at all. Scarlet’s Playhouse also stated “suggested: 5 players”, but you could easily go in alone and solo it all. Just click the button to enter SAB and see for yourself. You don’t need a group, it is not group content. It is solo content that can be played with friends if you want to.
You know, like you can take other people with you to the PS instances.

I didn’t run the Playhouse either because of ‘suggested: 5 players’. And I don’t know that I can take others into the personal story instances because I don’t group.

I won’t go into the SAB because it tells me to bring 4 other players. If it didn’t tell me to bring 4 other players, I would try to run it.

Colin Johanson explains in a PAX 2013 interview about how Ascended came about, because they miscalculated the effort that would be required to get exotics, and states that he intends to ascended to be the only additional equipment tier they add to the game.

Makes no promises, as he states “7 years from now we might turn around and put another tier in, maybe someone else will be in charge of the game”, but really drives home the point that “this should be it” as far as equipment tiers are concerned.

My opinion: Big load off my mind. I’m glad that they’re not planning to implement a gear treadmill, and it’s nice to see an official explanation for why ascended happened in the first place, and it’s definitely a reasonable explanation.

I do have my disagreements with your points as well, Irrodesia (I read your huge post in that other thread), as well as some of the people swinging that old pre-release quote from Colin around like it’s holy scripture (they said we’d all have NPC sidekicks before the game was released too, guys). I can see where you’re all coming from, but I really don’t see ascended weapons as in any way unattainable for casual players such as myself.

If they were to put in a gear treadmill — an actual gear treadmill, as opposed to what some of you guys are trying to redefine the term to entirely — I’d have my pitchfork and would be marching right along with you, especially if that gear treadmill occurred in such a way that made it time gate content like dungeons a la WoW. But a gear treadmill is not what this is; ascended gear is (apparently, judging from the interview) merely what Anet had planned exotic gear to be on release.

EDIT: To clarify, I’m not saying that people opposed to the time gating on ascended gear or even ascended gear in general should simply shut up about it; I’m merely suggesting that you guys stop strawmanning and misinterpreting the issue. ANet’s probably not going to listen to people that don’t even know what a gear treadmill actually is (yes, if you’re calling ascended gear a “gear treadmill”, you don’t know what that is), but they may listen to people who feel that the requirements and time commitment for getting an ascended weapon are too steep for casual players and pose solutions for solving that issue.

So what do you personally want in this game? were you think this is fantastic……….Cause I guarantee, what you like someone else wont be happy. Most players in MMO want the gear and achievements for doing nothing, and thats what i dont understand? Why play a game with nothing to play for? If the Hyleck guns are not used to cleanse the aoe poison pools, debuff the bone stacks preventing the bone wall, and defended the event will fail. If the Batteries are not defended and the large asura gun not fired, the event will fail. If all this isn’t done in 15 minutes multiple times, the event will fail. Just because something requires lots of players doesn’t mean it’s a zerg. When it involves lots of players and requires coordination between them, then it’s a battle.

People keep thinking that pressing 1 and standing in front of him will be enough. Tequatl’s Fingers are buffed now, and can no longer be ignored. The new Tidal Wave attack will probably down everyone who doesn’t pay attention. Etc etc etc. In fact, people with the zerg mindset will probably be the first ones to complain that Tequatl is too hard now.

From the preview video, it looks like servers will need to organize at least 6 different teams to cover the Fingers, defend the Turrets, attack Tequatl, debuff armor and cleanse poison pools, and even power rez downed players. And that’s only the attack phase.

I REALLY hope this sort of thing starts to happen. Commanders could take control of squads and squads STICK WITH YOUR COMMANDER. This is the sort of thing that really makes me excited about playing. Zerk war squads for dps, CC squads to protect the people manning turrets, turret squads, Condi squads to melt trash around batteries, etc, etc… The possibility for organization and team play is awesome. But then again, look at WvW. The possibility for that type of play exists there as well but it’s always been nothing more than a ridiculous roving spam zerg.

Totally agree with young Booger, you cant have 80 headless chickens running all over the place, you need proper squads for certain tasks

The casual will probably get about 100 to 150 for a couple of hours playtime.

The casual logs in and plays 2 hours of WvW. Camps drop 2 to 4 empyreals, let’s assume the average is 3. To get to 100 empyreal fragments you’d have to cap a minimum of 33 supply camps. That is a camp every 3 minutes and a half.

Towers drop 7 empyreals, thus 14 towers to get 100 empyreals. A tower every 10 minutes.

In short: your figures are way off and empyreals aren’t too easy to obtain in WvW at all.

I got 163 in 2 days without even trying, so cut the kitten.

Deso is gonna have him down 2 days…..tops

As a player from a tier 1 server I currently face queue times of over 2 hours during peak times. I’m quite worried what the queue times will become once we get seperate achievements + rewards for WvW next month.

Is there any plan to increase the amount of players per map? Or maybe a better queue system where we can see our place + estimated time in line?

Before anyone states the obvious, I was at this server when it was still a bottom tier server which was 3 weeks after launch. I don’t plan on moving because of all the freeloaders that moved here suddenly (including a few big guilds which dropped us suddenly, now return to reap the rewards soon, it’s quite a disgusting happening).

We have been matched against T1 servers a couple of times now. I would guess that even if we have lost those matchups, we have done well enough to gain rank.

We have asuras that’s why i dont play charr, but all my characters as asura i really cant play anything else i love them too much.
Only charr i played was to lvl 28 to get personnal story achievements points then deleted it.

I’m one of those who likes all the different race’s. I have 1 asura, 1 charr, 1 norn, 2 humans, and 2 sylvari.

I want to experience the story of each race, their culture, their flavor. The charr area is very interesting.

One thing that does concern me is that I fear less attention will be paid to asura, charr, and sylvari due to the percentages of who plays which. I hope that isn’t the case because if you add up the other races then they equal the mass that is human. Therefore, collectively they are as important.

I thought Asura were the top played Toons in this game?

Or Anet could make it louder so you can actually hear it, waste of 800 gems

Yay! Glad to see someone posting this. Was good fun. Also interesting hearing the commentary from the Deso Commander – he sounds cool. I was almost certain that they were going to sneak a few Mesmers up so they could plough through the arrowcarts, but it never happened. Shame. Anyway, the most interesting thing I’ve seen in WvW this week.
