You know toys are overpowered when they take down a champion and his wolf pack. Yeah you read right.. Two sets of toys from two gifts took down The corrupted svanir and his wolf pack. A friend and I stood and watched til he was about less than half health laughing when we decided to help finish him with no effort since the toys did 99% of the damage. He totally ignored us.

Complaining dungeons are too time consuming in mmorpg? In vanila wow, tbc dungeons took 3 hours each, raids take several hour too now! And in other mmorpgs you have even longer ones.. You dont have time for running them? So dont do dungeos then or make more time ..
Almost everyone i know playes atleast 5 hours a day and those who dont atleast understand Its their problem..
Arah expo, in general all expos ARENT there for casual players who plays 2 hours a day btw. Are you even lvl 80 yet ?

My gf is casual player and do you think she complain about not having arah gear? No! Cause she has brain and she knows how it goes. There are tousands players that plays 7+ hours a day and it would never be fair if someone who is casual and plays 2 hours a day would have same gear..

Mmorpg are ment to be real live fantasy world, some do have more, some less.

If you want to run arah, obtain nicest gear and its so important for you, then MAKE MORE TIME! SIMPE .. this is mmorpg. Not single player gameMan just wth? Really? What next? Want instant 80 level? Or free legendary? In second when they start nerfing dungeons, which are in fact easy anyway now I wont log back in ever again. And i am player that already spent 200 euros on gems and have 450 hours played, what playerbase anet want to keep?

So are you saying just because your GF is a casual player she has no right to the gear from arah? Anyone who plays the game as the right to any gear in the game. Granted it may take your GF or any other casual players longer to get it, but they do have the right to it.

So, my wife and I have played GW2 since beta, and we have had a lot of fun. But now we are starting to see the game for what it actually is : Pay-to-win. A friend of ours started to play and was level 80 in 5 days, because he used $ to buy trade-skill mats to level up. This really made our level 80s seem pretty pointless, because it was then obvious that you can basically “buy” a level 80.

Now there are legendary weapons showing up on the trading post. We are very unhappy with this development. It seems most modern MMOs are all pay to win these day, with their cash-shops and the ability to buy coin. We long for the good old days of an even play field, no matter your standing in real life. I am now starting to look elsewhere for another MMO, even sub-based, with NO real life influence on your character. I worry that those days are over, and my enjoyment of MMO gaming is coming to an end.

This game isn’t play to win by a many long shots.. I have no idea how you define this game as play to win. Your friend got to lvl 80 because he skipped over half or more of the game. You could have easily done the same thing. Some of you people just do not have an idea what a play to win game is. Might want to do some research on that. I can tell you one game I played that is play to win and that is Rohan: The Blood Feud. You buy Ynk currency and you can by from anything like a maxed lvl character decked out.. to a nice looking weapon as long as your character is of the lvl to use it.. they can even sell in game money which are called crowns on the site and this is ran by the company who makes this game… I would call that play to win. For now on do some research before running your mouth about it being play to win.. Learn what a play to win game really is cause Guild Wars 2 is not one of them.

When Chickens attack!

Eladriel.7295

Today I was in Ebonhawke when I saw a herd of chickens. There is an achievement for killing such nasty creatures so I casually tossed my axe at them. They had damage numbers flash over their heads but they did not die. I threw my axe at them a few times, but since they did not die I decided to move on.

A few seconds later the herd of cackling death birds came charging down the hill at me. Threw the flurry of feathers I was able to discern that there were 6 birds. They all commenced attacking me. I attacked them with a renewed vigor fearing for my life. Sadly these chickens still did not take damage, and they were able to overwhelm me.

They slowly ate my still living flesh until I died.

6 servers Very High, 18 servers Full

I don’t mean to sound bitter or upset, but recently a friend of mine transferred to another server for purposes of WvW, and I can’t join him, because dang near every server is packed. I don’t see this trend ending any time soon.

Do you have plans to add more servers soon, perhaps a trio of servers to make up their own WvW block? (or at least to preserve the wvw balance, since they’ll probably slide right into the wvw ladder right quick)

Just keep watch eventually it will change. Had a friend start play gw2 and had to choose another server because mine was full. I think it was after 3 or 4 days he finally was able to get into my server cause it had changed from full to high. So just be patient and check the server status everyday.

Well since I no way to know if they have it on autocast I will just report them for botting anyway. Sick of hearing it over and over. If they get banned then maybe they will learn to NOT autocast it town.

Besides, I don’t think ANET wants people to stay logged in permanently anyway and wouldn’t casting it over and over do that?

And that’s a good way of getting an innocent player banned.. Maybe you might want to research what bots do and learn their mechanics so you can learn to spot one.. I reported one the other day and it clearly wasn’t sitting in one spot just shouting a buff skill.

As far as staying logged in, it really really irritates me that they made it where the game logs me out.. GW1 didn’t so why should GW2. I should be able to log in and if I have to run an errand so be it, I come back and my game is still on.

Whoever has temporarily put the game to rest, how will the next big update change your mind? Are we over-reacting and taking it too personal?

Article discusses valid points about guilds

in Community Creations

Posted by: Eladriel.7295

Eladriel.7295

To be honest, I think this is more of a player issue than a game one.

Yes, the guild design is what enables players to guild hop, but it’s the players themselves causing guilds to “fail.”

For instance: no one uses /g chat anymore, instead using Vent, TS or in my guilds case, Skype. Why chat if you have your main members in a 25 slot vent? This creates an atmosphere of no one talking. After a while, someone sees an ad for HUGE GUILD
and reps them instead, because having that amount of players, people are bound to be G-chatting

The fact the the article concludes with “they need a dungeon finder” which would basically solidify guilds as throw-away if implemented, kind of makes the whole of the article’s complaints moot.

Have you ever tried typing in guild chat while in a battle or doing a dungeon? Obviously not. Cause if you had then you would know why players use ventrilo or some other voice program.

Eladriel.7295

Dungeon Finder is never a solution to create a social game. If you want a social game, get rid of the instances altogether. Instances do nothing but isolate people from the game world.

Also, if you want a social game, you want an ecology within the classes/professions. Things a class can do, that others cannot. Everquest had this in spades, which made it a very social game. A Druid and Wizard could teleport, an Enchanter could give you mana regeneration, a Necromancer could summon your corpse, a Cleric could rez you, etc. I am not sure why MMOs try to get further and further away from this.

The social aspect of your game is based around the granularity of your game design, not surface level stuff like whether it has guild options or not. If you present your world as a world that people can get lost in, instead of an amusement park with every little thing pointed out on your map, you will have a more social game. If you have a reason to interact with others because other individuals offer things you want that you can’t get yourself, you will have a more social game.

I don’t want to depend on someone else for something I want.. Sorry.. I like to be self sufficient.

I never understand these sort of threads…

if you don’t enjoy playing with others, why play an MMO? Pick something like skyrim instead, there you have all the fun of a big pretty explorable world without the need to group

I have never understood mindsets such as yours… Why must one associate grouping=mmo? It is stupid and ridiculous and no where does MMO say groups only club. It means Massive Multiplayer Online.. Now show me where in that name says groups only.. It just states you are oline with a massive bunch of players. As I have said before and will always say, grouping should be a choice not forced.

Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

Eladriel.7295

[Edit] My reasons for soloing most of the content is totally not on par with you all’s reasons.

Reasons: 1. Being rude (I take time out of what I am doing to party with you to give you the help and you want to be rude to me?)

Reasons: 2. Being a jerk (It says it all)

Reasons: 3. Being a Elitist jerk ( You are not qualified to place judgement upon me, need I say more)

Reasons: 4. Being ungrateful (I took time out of my activities to help you out, you can at least acknowledge that and give a simple heartfelt thank you. Really that is all it is needed.

Reasons: 5. Being impatience (Slow down and smell the roses.. Who said you had to enjoy the content at lighting speed, in fact you’ll miss it.)

Reasons: 6. Selfish (Only thinking of yourself doing what you want to do, you never know what you will find just by doing what another wants to do for once.)

Reasons: 7. Disrespectful (Does not make you a very good human being and will not warrent you a invite to dinner… need I say more?)

Reasons: 8. Abuse (Name calling, insults are considered abuse in my eyes and I will report. I have no tolerances for it. It is cruel, demeaning and unacceptable. Who in their right mind would group up with someone that abuses another? Not I)

If you don’t elicit any of the above then you would make a great party memeber. Some of you people, really.. learn patience it is a virtue.

Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

Eladriel.7295

Iam constantly asking people to team with me when I’m levelin up in areas and doing hearts etc…. only like 1 in 10 people wants too… but why??

It is soo much faster and easier to level up when ur in team instead of going at it alone. Also much more fun imo. Why so many lone-players?

Several reasons, actually….

1) I work around people all day. When I manage enough free time for a game, I want to be ALONE unless I am with a friend from outside of the game, then I will team, usually duo-only.
2) EVERYONE immediately starts sending URLS for voice chat. If I do not know you, odds are I will not go voice with you. I’ve never liked listening to people eat / sneeze / yell at kids-pets-SO / background TV … and that is Voice Chat in its purest form.
3) Not at all interested in small-talk, which the other person ALWAYS wants to do.
4) Downtime. Grouping is a steady stream of downtime….bathroom breaks, food breaks, phone calls, AFK, etc.

I tend to quietly skip group-required content / raiding, so I play most games until the ‘endgame uber alles’ mindset kicks in, then I go find another game to play until it too succumbs to the end game group-based loot treadmill.

Well people do tend to need to take breaks. Everyone needs to take a break. Unless you are planning on being the guy that played diablo for 40 hours then died.. Nobody should be looking down on anyone for having to take a small break.

Guild Wars 2 - Nice Community?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I propose that the majority of negativity is due to the “honeymoon” effect wearing off.

People now begin to see the faults and flaws of the game; and have to realize that the good things are still there but were just overweighted when the game first came out.

But that’s no excuse for them to treat others badly. I always said the internet brings out peoples true colors cause if they did this to a person in real life they would get the crap kicked out of them. So they do it over the internet where they know 99% of the time they can get away with it. IMO I don’t think it has anything to do with the honeymoon effect of the game. I truly believe they are just heartless people.

This game isn’t going down hill.

Server population means nothing. I play on a “Full” server and the only place with a living soul is Lion’s Arch and Orr. (bots in Orr and people who want to spam the first boss for cash – that’s all)

I have to disagree.. Server population means everything.. If the game was going down hill the populations would be low if players were leaving.

While you are partially correct, the real problem is much more fundamental: Solo players can’t compete. The mobs are way too large against single characters.

Further, the few people who ARE there are just moving around, some being particularly dirty while doing it. I wish I had a gold for every player who, having risen chasing him, ran through my character so they would aggro me instead. It’s unbelievable that anybody would do that, but it is worse because it’s so common.

Part of me wants to respond in kind, but I’m just not that kind of player. But, the game REWARDS players for doing this to other players (they don’t have to repair their armor or teleport to rez). Thus, knowing human nature, it’s simply unavoidable.

I think there should be a severe penalty for leaving the aggro zone soon after pulling enemies to another character. It has to be a minimum of 3-4 silver to match what they would have to pay if they stuck around and then died.

The best punishment for players that lead a train through your character is the same thing they did to you.. Write down their names hunt the dirty doers down and run a train through them.. Payback is itch..

I’ve noticed that the amount of players on higher maps have decreased to the point that anywhere from 50%-90% of points on the maps are constantly contested making it impossible in many cases for a solo player to complete maps. It’s gotten to a point that you are lucky to find 2 players in a group.

Basically since the new content, most higher level players don’t even bother with regular maps anymore. Players are looking at it this way, why do maps with poor drops when you can do other things that net you better items.

Needless to say, higher level maps from 70-80 need to have new content and and better drops added to bring players back to them.

As it stands now, this game is going down hill since newer player that want to complete maps and other things can’t, due to the lack of players to aid in certain areas. It’s going to get to the point where people are just going to give up, and when (not if) that happens, this game will die.

I’m not saying this because I’m low level, on the contrary, I have 3 characters all at level 80 and I have 100% map completion. I just see this as a growing problem that needs to be addressed. I like the game, but I see the player base dropping in these areas everyday.

Really? I sure can’t tell it.. Log out of your game and look at the world map and see all the high and full servers. Just about every server is either high pop or full.. Would you reccommend GW2 to a friend?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I and all of my freinds have played MMOs. Whether they were EVE, WoW, Runescape, SWOTR or some other game.

All of us, myself included, have stopped playing our MMOs because we were sick and tired of “Vertical Progression”. We were sick of chasing that carrot, and watching meaningless numbers slowly grow bigger and bigger. It took us a few years, and for some of us it took us a few MMOs, but we’re over that style of game, we never want to play a gear grind ever again.

We’re not unusual or unique. Most players I talk to share this mindset. Sometimes it’s painful, uncomfortable or difficult for people to admit they wasted some the best years of their life chasing a sword that increased their damage output by 0.5%, but in the end everyone feels cheated and hateful towards their old MMOs.

I hope you don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that Gear Grind is addictive, demoralising and can lead to some really complex and frigtening emotions and behaviours. It can break up relationships, and in some cases even lead to real-life violence. It’s a despicable plague upon gaming, and brings the whole industry into disrepute.
You might think these incidents are far-fetched or unique, but they are the ultimate product of Gear Grind mentality, and are frighteningly common.

This is why there was such a wave of excitement when Arenanet released their “Manifesto” to the press. Would this FINALLY be the MMO that broke the mould? That did away with “Grinding”? It certainly appeared to be the case.

And it was. The beta weekends confirmed everything in the Manifesto, casual-friendly difficulty, stuff for hardcore people to do, and an easy-to-attain stat cap.

It was, for want of a better word, perfect. Sales went through the roof. The internet was abuzz, Youtube was flooded with videos of players having an awesome time, free from the tyranny of gear grind. The game was SO POPULAR that Arenanet actually had to close down sales on their own website for a while to be able to cope with demand. The success of the game was absolutely unprecedented.

For months now, I have been convincing and persuading my friends to buy Guild Wars 2. The game is so much more fun with friends, and I wanted them to see that MMOs had changed, it was no longer a competition to see who could play the longest, grind out the most mats, thoerycraft the highest numbers, it was about having FUN and being competitive on a level playing field.
“Come to Tyria, it’s different!” I said.
“You only need to get to 80 and buy 1 set of gear, then you’re set!” I said.
“World Vs World is AWESOME fun, and you don’t need to grind to play it!” I said.
I’ve given out free trial keys, I’ve pimped the game in the forums, I’ve asked people I don’t even like to try it on Facebook.
I had followed every blog post, read every interview, watched every video, I thought I knew what Guild Wars 2 was about. I thought I saw a pioneering young game company bringing something amazing to the world, which had the chance to actually do the unthinkable and topple WoW from it’s throne.
In October, my world was shaken. I saw a simple picture posted by someone I’d never heard of before called Lindsey. It seemed to show a new item available in Guild Wars 2, a simple ring with some magic find stats.
WHAT? WHAT WAS THIS. The game I loved, the game I treasured, the game I logged over 300 hours playing and enjoying every minute of was introducing a new tier of items, with slightly, EVERY SO SLIGHTLY higher numbers on it than what I already had.
And I was supposed to be “excited” by this?
Well yes I was excited. I was so kitten excited I immediately called my friend who was going to relent to my incessant pestering for him to buy the game and told him not to.
“Don’t bother, they’ve started to introduce new gear with higher stats, it’s World of Warcraft all over again. Stay away from it man.”
So would I recommend Guild Wars 2 to a friend? Well before October I not only would but did. I reccomended it to everyone I possibly could and practically begged them to buy it and come play with me.
Now, I would feel like a drug pusher, getting them hooked on their first little taste of Vertical Progression crack.
No, I won’t be recommending it to anyone in future. They might get stabbed, or starve to death at their computer screen.
Shame on you all.

Still beating that dead horse? Yes I would recommend GW2. Stop assuming just because they released Ascended gear it will continue. They have already made a statement on that. You will not see another tier after the ascended.. To many players jump to conclusions with their assumptions and acted undignified and hateful over the gear which was unwarranted.. Months ahead had they added another tier then I would say the outburst is then warranted. People need to learn patience. I will still continued to recommend GW2.

Since Winter’s day Thread is not up yet, which is weird on not having this open and available so we can freely discussing but this is what’s bugging me.

Quote: Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch in his massive airship toy workshop.

Link: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/december-2012/

Like, I don’t even know how to accept this really, Guild Wars Style. I am just lost and confused why it exist and how does it work with the lore?

I understand its an Asura and all but really… a Golem airship? Would had accepted giant floating cube or a regular airship but a golem?

Just being a nerd but… magic can only go so far and so does fuel. On top of that, wouldn’t having something that big would give leeway to the dragons into shooting it down, since the energy required to keep that thing a float and running would match that of a small nuclear bomb.

Also… why is an Asuran making Toys? Usually Asuras are all witty and snotty about being smart and a superior race, yet its making toys? Which lore wise, would be toys suited for a complex Asura child to play with. No other race would understand the toys Tixx would make.

/Opens Presents /receive “Mathematical entries of dimensional portions calculator”.

A human would had been better for the situation, if anything go Norn if that desperate. Really getting tired of Asura this and Asura that content updates. The race isn’t all that interesting.

Edit: Not sure why link went bad, posted the main page, from GW2 Twitter.

Why do you have to question everything? We had wintersday in gw1 so we are getting it in gw2. Just enjoy it.. How does Christmas fit in our lore when there is so many conflicting stories.. shrugs.. Surely a place like Tyria will have holidays and festivals.. Just enjoy the game.. Stop trying to analyzing everything.

Ok correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the addition of “better than exotic” lvl80 gear, below legendary, just add a between step with horizontal progression?

No.
Legendaries were originaly purely cosmetic and didn´t have any better stats than exotics, and never were supposed to have either if one believes the prelaunch advertisement.

Ascended added better stats, which put peoples panties (including mine) in a twist. And also since legendaries wouldn´t really be legendaries anymore they had to raise their stats too…well will have to as soon as ascended weapons release.

And you will see down the line that all those pantie twisting and embarrassing undignified uproar over the ascended armor would have been all for nothing. And if the ascended gear is like any of the pictures I saw comparing their stats to and exotic it isn’t that much of a change. Not enough for the embarrassing display players showed. Anet explained why the ascended gear was needed and also stated there will not be another tier added. Yet it did not stop players hateful outburst. Instead, patience should have been a key virtue here.. Later on in the future if they released yet another tier then players angry outburst would not have been misplaced and then you can legitimately call it a gear grind. Yes, that’s right, players undignified, embarrassing display of hatred jumped the gun on the ascended gear.

Can you please remove wvw area from the world explorer please? Or give it it’s own explore achievement.. I am not a pvp player and should not have to be forced to explore wvw and being ganked for it.

This is a huge gripe and I see it mentioned in all kinds of topics.

It SHOULD be in already.

But it’s not, I tried to preview a item earlier today and nothing. I agree with you all, it needs to be in. I to don’t like buying something I don’t know what it looks like.

My god people.. they added one tier of gear as a one-time gameplay improvement, why the kitten is everyone acting like this is the apocolypse?

It may be one gear now, but when all the QQers get those Ascended, they will complain more. What will Anet do then? Add another tier of item. This is how gear-treadmill happens. kitten like this happened alot of time on others mmo, and Im afraid it will happen on GW2 as well.

Don’t make assumptions as if you are a fortune teller of GW2. You don’t know what and if it will happen in GW2. It really amuses me how you people seem to think you know where this game is gonna end up at. Whatever!

What is Causing People Not To Play GW2?

When this first game came out the first month it was a blast, but had lots of bugs and crashes, so i stopped playing for a couple of weeks until they fixed a few things.

Now i come back playing in Nov and no body is around ppl are being a bit kitteny and lots of area’s are empty.

I’ve died total of 150 times on two characters only who are lvl 36 and 20.

Is it GW2 or just ppl are bored already?

That is a bit odd since I created a new norn yesterday and it was teaming with new toons.

Apologizing? Why does Anet need to apologize to you people for? They haven’t done anything wrong. They gave you content you screamed for then you bashed them to no end.. They gave you a freakin dungeon that will continue to challenge you then you bash them to no end.. Pathetic!

The Worst thing that has happened to GW2

Anet hyped this game like crazy and simply didn’t deliver.

They deserve the complaints. Also, making posts telling others to stop making posts is futile.

Anet didn’t hype nothing, you did along with everyone else. All anet did was tell you what features GW2 had everything else was all gaming community. And yes they did deliver.

Dear gamers, please don't ruin this for me.

Dear Gamers,

Lately I’ve been coming on here and noticing many new topics on why you all do not like this game anymore. You are disheartened by this or that, and GW2 is not like this or that game, including its predecessor.

As someone who played another game recently, which I will not name, but I’m sure you all know which one I’m talking about, the third part of a very popular dungeon-crawling action RPG series.., ahem..I am seeing the same sort of topics on this forum as on that other game’s forum. Guess what, I no longer play that game.

What I want to say is, I no longer play that game for two reasons. One: it was in fact a difficult game with little to almost no reward for playing the game, and incredibly hard to even find ONE piece of legendary and USEFUL gear. This game does not have that problem. This game is extremely rewarding, and it’s fun to play. Despite it’s flaws, because I won’t argue that it’s not perfect, IT IS STILL FUN TO PLAY! The second reason why I slowly stopped playing that game, and my main point of this post, is that the community told me not to like it!

That’s right!

All of the people who spent so much time coming up with long, argumentative, well thought out posts about the game mechanics, loot rates, skill sets, etc, and with plenty of good points to prove or support their arguments, took the fun out of the game for me!

Now, I know what you’re all thinking: “Well then don’t read the posts!”

It’s hard NOT to read the posts when they flood the forum because all it takes are few people to get this ball of hate rolling. Frankly, leave my game alone. Let me finish getting my exotic gear, my legendary weapons, and let me finish exploring the rest of Tyria. I do not want to come here and see so many posts about why this game sucks or how much you are all disappointed.

Now, we may be going through some rough times here, new patches, it is a brand new game still in its baby stages, but I believe this game will have more content as time goes on, and will become more challenging and also more rewarding. Lost Shores seems like a good example of this.

So please, I beg the gamer community, do NOT ruin my experience of this game by trying to make everyone believe that this game sucks, or is flawed, hopeless, or whatever! If you don’t like it, like someone else said, go that way ->

Leave this community pure, and without so much hatred, anger, or whatever disappointment you may feel. It’s a game, a free one at that aside from the initial purchase price. Let me enjoy my game, and have a nice day.

The only one to ruin this game for you, is you. The other cry babies can not if you don’t let them. Just ignore them and continue getting your preferred gear. They haven’t changed my view about this game at all. They have proven to me that we don’t have a very good community. Ignore the hate and anger. Yes, I know it is aggravating. But the true fans like you and I will still be playing GW2. Not all content we get will be all happy happy joy joy.. But I am in this game through thick and thin. Happy Thanksgiving and have a great one and stop letting the others bring you down.
