Fear Not This Night Lyrics Confusion

Fear not this night. You will not go astray.
Though shadows fall still the stars..find their way.
Awaken from a quiet sleep. Hear the whispering of the wind.
Awaken as the silence grows in the solitude of the night
Darkness spreads through all the land and your weary eyes open silently.
Sunsets have forsaken all and must open their eyes now
Nightmares come when shadows grow…. Ice glows and heartbeats slow
Fear not this night. You will not go astray. Though Shadows fall still the stars find their way
And you can always be strong. Lift your voice with the first light of dawn
Dawn is just a heartbeat away. Hope is just a sunrise away
Distant song of melody scoring through the night to your heart.
Auroras make circumstance in the solitude of our life.
Pleading silent arias gently grieving in captive misery.
Darkness sings a violent song yet our hope can still rise up
Nightmares come where shadows grow. Lift your voice lift your heart
Fear not this night. You will not go astray. Though shadows fall still the stars find a way
And though the night skies fill with weakness. Fear not, press on. Hold out and take my hand!
Fear not this night! You will not go astray. Though shadows fall still the stars find a way!
Fear not this night! You will not go astray. Though shadows fall still the stars find a way!
And you can always be strong. Lift your voice with the first light of dawn!
Dawn is just a heartbeat away…. Home is just a sunrise away….

Yes it is.
This is more or less the only thing in the game that is actually hard. Let it be hard and accept that not all content will be built to be doable by everyone at all time.

I don’t mind having hard content, but I think it’s bad design to let a group of players take part in a battle that they have no chance of beating. If you’re in an overflow, forget it. If you have less than 80 players, forget it. Yet the game doesn’t inform the players that they don’t have any chance. Anet seems happy to let dozens of players wave their weapons at Tequatl for 15 minutes, only to have him fly off. That is not okay in my book.

If there aren’t enough players, either don’t spawn Tequatl at all, or scale his health down based on the number of players that are there.

Who are you to say who and how many gets to participate? Last I check Anet is still in charge and they certainly did not make you boss. Frankly I don’t give a kitten if it isn’t ok in your book.. Your book has no bearing on anyone else. People have the right to choose if they want to participate and when that choice is taken away we get kitten ed. Players like you have no right infringing on our choice either.

Don’t blame Anet for your mishaps.. Blame yourself and the greedy people you run with and your crappy behavior you exhibit. Anet tried to do something good and the lot of you begin to show your sorry true colors… It is players behavior at fault why anet takes action and change things. Will we ever get content which rewards SKILL!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Eladriel.7295

Eladriel.7295

I was hoping we can get a answer here from Anet. i was wondering if we will ever get content which is really difficult ( need regen/protection etc, up 75% of the time, need support/tank/dps, need to be orginized and using a chat program) which will rewarded those who complete it with a rare item set which can we sold or used. i for one dont have time to play everyday but id like to think im a skilled player. with that said, even if im skilled in gw2, doesnt mean im going to be able to show it off. if something like this was added to the game, i would, and many other ppl, be able to make gold and gear out without having to put so many hours in the game but at the same time, its not like any group can actually do the content, it wont be farmed by too many ppl. i was expecting this from the exp dungeon before the game released but was up for a huge let down. hopefully we get something like this added to the game. if u want content like this reply with ur ideas and or show ur support!

You want difficult content go play Dark Souls… Because of players like you they take fun content and turn it into a pain in the kitten and no longer fun.. I play games for fun I could care less about the how freakin hard it is or the stupid challenge. I’m tired of you “oh look at me I’m a special snowflake” syndrome, we could care less what you got to shine your ego. If you are the only one to name yourself skilled then you are obviously not.

Gear Treadmill started

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Eladriel.7295

I never realized how much I hated the idea of the “gear treadmill” until today. I thought it might be fun to boot up GW2 and kill stuff as I haven’t been able to play in a couple months, been at the police academy.

It was at that point I realized that all the weapons on my warrior that I spent so long running dungeons for were now the equivalent of what rares used to be……………..do you know how crushing that is? What do I have to look forward to? An extremely large grind for just a single weapon, forget the fact that I’m warrior and use like a dozen.

This isn’t an I quit post or anything, it’s just a post from a guy that is extremely disappointed with the path you (Anet) has chosen to take this game. I know my sole opinions means little, but hopefully I’m not alone in my sentiments.

There is no gear tread mill in GW2. You obviously have no clue what one is if you think there is.. Go play wow and you will see one. You will not get another tier of armor aside the ascended. They have already stated that several times.

No More Jumping Puzzles

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eladriel.7295

Eladriel.7295

I have a great suggestion. Please stop putting Jump Puzzles in your game. They are too frustrating to complete. I know a bunch of Anet fanbois are going to include in the comment section below “But we love JPs, they’re great fun”. Well, let me give you a more accurate portrait of what your players think about your jump puzzles. I have not met 1 single person in game who enjoys them. Not a single one. My guild hates them, my gf hates them because her computer can’t make quick precise jumps. The people in there trying to complete them hate them. They’re annoying, and they’re lazy programming because you should be putting real content in your game like dungeons or actual puzzles. I write this as I sit in your new Kites Over Celadon JP, which you made just about as bad as the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Look Anet, seriously, cut it out with the jump puzzles all ready and listen to your fan base.

Really? Why do you people make lame post as these? Granted I’m not that crazy for jumping puzzles, but I have no problem with them being in the game. The only gripe I have is when a vista is stuck on one, other than that the jumping puzzles are optional.. You don’t have to do them. If I had a quarter for everytime I have read that line “Listen to your fan base” I’d be rich.. They should to a extent, but if they listen to every tom, kitten and harry they would have a seriously messed up game considering all the lame bs I see asked for and complained about…etc… No, Anet should not take the jumping puzzles out.. And OP you are wrong there are player who enjoy them. The players you talked to and your guild does not make up the entire gw2 community and if you think it does present the facts. Another thing I would like the choice of participating or not and I don’t like players like you interfering with that choice. Have a good day..

Try Tarnished Coast. In many races we have a friendly group in there. It’s better in the morning on weekdays for some reason. About half the groups I am with are there just for fun and not to try to prove how great they are. I’ve organized races where we agree not to use certain skills to see who could win without them. Hate to be -that guy- and break the chain but I feel that it’s stupid to let someone just have something given to them, maybe I’m old fashioned but I feel if you yourself do not earn the achievement without having someone basically spoon feed it to you, you don’t deserve it. If they wanted everyone to have it then they’d award the achievement after finishing the race.

Really? Well you know what? I feel if you can’t win that race without hindering others with those lame kitten utility skills instead of your skill with just the first 5 skills alone is really pathetic.. So, how you like those apples? I can’t begin to tell you how many times some one bright lighted me, dazed me and several in a roll in fact. I was the last and they still dazed me and such.. How pathetic… It just goes to show how lame people are.. So don’t even go there. So do you really think they are winning by earning it, no they are winning by hindering others to keep them from the finish line instead of the use of the main skills and their ability to use them. pfft So if there are other players out there that want to do something nice and let another win since they have the achievement… go for it.. It’s a lot better than someone else winning by hindering others.

They really need to look up games like Price of Persia, Assassin Creed, Ratchet and Clank, Tomb Rider and learn from them. Only in the ’80s you were seeing your character jumping like a dummy in its feet, all the rest use some grabbing to avoid near the edge jumping fails

Those aren’t mmos, but it would be nice to see grabbing and climbing implemented.

What philosophy?

Well, no gear treadmill and no sort of progression, many people like the way it is now (explore and redo stuff), but many others don’t.

<————————-WOW and Rift are back that way. If continuing gear treadmills and constant progression is what you want then go back to wow or play rift cause you are in the wrong game. You people are a fickle lot.. Rift was bashed to no end for being similar to wow and here you all are wanting to turn GW2 into wow… The day they turn this game into wow is the day I quit. Anet were very up front and informative at the beginning and long before launch that gw2 will not have a gear grind, so you people have no excuse to complain. You knew when you pressed that play button that this is a no gear grind game.. What? You thought you would just cry and whine til they give you your gear grind like a bunch of spoiled brats? pfft!!!! Get over it and stop trying to ruin this game. GW1 has the same philosophy.. Once I had avatars in their prestige armor those days of constant searching for new upgrades were over and that is the way I like it. I don’t want to change my armor like you change underwear. I like concentrating on playing the kitten game instead of having to constantly worry about gearing up every freakin frackin level..pffft…

No thats not how you do housing. It’s instance based so very boring.
Housing should happen in the open world.

This is how you do housing… including guild-halls.

I would like the wildstar version with the open world feature as long as I can fence in my property and lock my gate and my front door from uninvited guest. What would it matter anyway.. "Guild Wars" Wardrobe System for Town Clothes

in Suggestions

Eladriel.7295

I’m giving this suggestion to implement a wardrobe system in order for players to be able to wear the appearances of their town clothes/costumes (or parts thereof) in combat, while gaining the stat advantages of wearing their actual armor. This is exactly how Guild Wars did it, and I was extremely disappointed to find out thakittens sequel did not sport this same feature. I would very happily return to Guild Wars 2 should this feature make its way into the game!

Yeah, I wanted this as well. I like How Rift and Lord of the Rings online has the wardrobe/outfit feature. It feels great to be able to change to a new piece of armor without having to re- apply the silly skin over the new piece every time to keep the look. after a while it gets annoy and I stop using the feature altogether.

Guildwars NEEDS SOME GUILD WARS

in Suggestions

Posted by: Eladriel.7295

Eladriel.7295

Ok I like this game. Its not the best Ive seen, but its pretty entertaining since the MMO market is total #*&$ these days.
However, after being in the game on and off again since its release I have one problem that has yet to ever be addressed, and when I ask players in game about it, I get the same questions out of them that I have. And simply it is this: Where is the GUILD WARS!?
Spend thirty levels grinding, and maybe play WvW and some PVP? Guild and the necessity for team play in this game is attrocious. I like having friends, but as far as the need to form or be in a guild? No need at all. In fact, its kind of a hinderance since most guilds have rules, and needs and wants, and you get next to NOTHING you cant do on your own out of it.
I would like to suggest that instead of introducing new battlegrounds to hook FTP gamers, that the devs actually introduce political content and lands to be held and fought over by GUILDS so that they might have some kind of political gain, ability to improve armor and items that non land holders dont, and the access to items others cant have. And allow alliances so that allianced guilds to either warring faction can also have part in the spoils on some level.
Do something… please… cuz after all this time and hoping from ALOT of players that the actual games name would hold up to its original gameplay in GW 1, we NEED more than what GW1 gave us. The arena was cool, but all WvW, and PVP is in the GW2 is inflated GW1.
Love your game. Just getting really bored of the grinding for no reason other than to have a collection of armors and weapons. And your guys’ updates, and material in the updates is not just practically unoriginal and boring, but its nearly useless. IE: Candy and constant dragon treasure box drops that only give more candy and some useless fireworks. Candy is even more useless as it gives you a speed burst, then makes you walk at a snail pace for half as long…. whos dumb idea was that to impliment? What are we teaching nutrition class to all the MMO gamers now?
Come on devs… do what you promised in the begining, a dynamic game that is player driven! Give us the ability to wage real war. If a dev reads this and wants to talk, Im all ears and got some really great ideas.

Guilds have long ago put their differences aside and stopped waring with each other..

optional subscription

Posted by: Eladriel.7295

Eladriel.7295

I was thinking about this to myself on the way home yesterday and I was like “what if people opted to pay $15 a month to get $20 worth of gems every month”? But, that’d just be abused and it might as well translate into: “Get $10 of gems for $5 after/with your first purchase of gems once a month!”

Since you could easily start the sub and immediately cancel it to get the $20 worth whenever you feel like it (once a month, of course).

Obviously you’d get the reward at the end of the month or at least after they’ve gotten their money, so cancelling it would serve absolutely no purpose.

But -1 for the OP’s idea.

Well, the whole point of my statement was to say that you can just bypass the subscription part of it and just get the bonus every month that you want.

It would charge your card, then you’d cancel the subscription, but you already paid for that month and got that months bonus gems. Then next month if you want it again, you’d do it all over again.

Of course, all of that just benefits players paying the game as opposed to playing it, which would drive gem —> gold prices down, which would create all sorts of pros and cons.

If you plan on getting the bonus from the subscription every month, why would you cancel it in the first place? It doesn’t make sense.

Either way no subscription is what drew people to GW1 and it’s what draws people to GW2, so any subscriptions at all would be just stupid.

I was just stating that it would be useless to implement if they did implement it.

Not really. The OP expects to have some sort of advantage for paying a sub. Like getting 800 gems a month plus a special “I’m an idiot” title, and free access to things to certain things.

It’s just another “Give me free stuff” thread.

That is true, because what subscribers would get, free players would not get. And if you want the extras well that would force you into paying a sub.

Ayrilana you again think only about it from your point of view, try think as one of my friend who tried make puzzle for 2 hours, and when he almost reached chest did get d/c during jump (died) and had to do everything again. Mesmer portals were add to game because game makers did know that many people will have to big problem to make it on their own.

That’s an assumption why they were added. Just because someone struggles on something doesn’t mean they can then justify abusing something. If people could attack Mai without taking damage by using a terrain exploit, would they be justified since they struggled?

I’ll stress my point again. Just because something doesn’t affect someone else, doesn’t mean that it is right. Once again, just because something doesn’t affect someone else, doesn’t mean that it is right. I knew I should’ve been more clearer in my example since people would focus on the exploit part. That’s my fault in that matter.

The reward is irrelevant in my point. It was the action or means to get to the objective, whether it be gear or the end of a jumping puzzle, which I was stressing. I made it a point to state that everything was for personal use so the argument about the shoulderpads being sold for 3 silver doesn’t apply. Please correct me if you feel it should.

Who told you it was wrong? You? Are you the law? Who gave you the authority to outlaw porting? Hardly… Just because you find porting wrong in your eyes doesn’t make it so and not everyone will agree with you. Sounds like a personal problem you need to get past. . How is exactly not wanting portals being used to trivialize OPTIONAL content being selfish and anti-social?

It is being selfish for the mere fact it does not affect you and your game play in anyway As far as the anti social part.. Well a player playing a mesmer know they don’t have to put portal down, but they do for helpful reasons. By you opting to have the portals changed to prevent the use of portals in jumping puzzles makes it selfish and anti social as you don’t care to help out your fellow gamers. Portals are very helpful for players who try to do the puzzle and continue to fall and become frustrated by them.. I hate them.. they suck.. but I am willing to try for a while, but after a while I will take a port.. Another question is… Who are you to dictate that I can or can not take a portal to the chest? Who are you tell tell the mesmer they can or can not send me a portal? You aren’t my dictator nor anyone elses.. Players like you have no regards to their fellow players.. You opt for change of things and don’t regard the affect it will have on other players or you don’t care what the affect is as long as you get the end results in your corner. That is selfish. I don’t like people who give little or no regard for their fellow gamers. I don’t like bad apples..

With the release of the newest jumping puzzle, this issue has become more apparent. People are using jumping puzzles to trivialize the content. For instance, with the new jumping puzzle a Mesmer can create a portal at the chest, wp, and then run within range to port everyone to the very end.

Can we get a debuff while inside that prevents portaling or at least reduces its range? How about having no wp’s close to a jumping puzzle? How about making it so that the portal skill cancels and is forced into cooldown when you wp?

Always a bad apple wanting to screw things up for others.. Always thinking about your own means and to hell with everyone else.. What is it to you that they use it to help their fellow players? The use of those portals isn’t in anyway affecting your game play. So just leave it be. I don’t like rotten apples..

Occasionally I read post complaining about the new content, especially the temporary kind.. I myself don’t mind it at all. I for one know that things don’t last forever and for the living world to work some things need to be temporary. Also complaints that are also brought on by the living story is the main plot of the dragons. Although time doesn’t stand still for no one and the world just will not wait for the hero’s to vanquish the dragons as life goes on anyway with new obstacles and such.. Occasionally I walk through Divinity’s Reach and over hear conversations from NPCs concerning the dragons.. A lot of them don’t believe they are real.. My suggestions is to scale the threat of the dragons throughout Tyria this includes the starting areas.. Have larger drgons (bosses) and champions. and smaller dragons push into all areas of Tyria and wreak havoc. Make it a dynamic event, but not a cycled one.. Meaning if the dragon isn’t killed he will continue to cause problems and once he is taken cared of we have no idea of when another attack will come.. Pretty much similar to the dragon appearances in Skyrim. These event’s would be group events and not a one to two player will be able to take them out. When I play Skyrim. I find myself looking around at the sky when my character leaves her house for dragon appearances… Don’t make these like maw or behemoth, make the attacks a surprise.. It’s about time for the lazy dragons to do something.. And another tiny change have the npcs of each area have conversations of these attacks.

I’d go with sub. how about optional sub, alongside with all current free to play arrangements. sthing that would give you some of gem store features for monthly fee?

What? So that they make it limited for those of us who play the game for free.. Not a chance and I would not go for it and that would be the day I quit this game..

I Do not KNOW what you KNOW

This post will probably be locked, or deleted or incur me an infraction, but I had to get this off my chest.

I am a helpful person. If you ask a question in map chat, and I can answer it, I will, and I will go out of my way to help you, even by doing the busy work of doing a /wiki to make sure the information I give you is correct. I do this especially if I am in an area that is populated by people who could be new to the game, i.e., a starter area or Lion’s Arch.

Today someone mentioned something about the AOE pick up in map chat and I had previously read the bug forum about it, and after the developer clarification in the thread, was able to get mine working correctly. So I answered the questioner with the information I had found out from the forums, and what had worked for me.

Unfortunately the questioner was one of those people who is never satisfied with any answer, and is really just wanting to gripe. To one of my answers (Not to spam the designated key bind button on the new AOE pickup) they said: I KNOW. And I replied “I do not know what you know, I do not read minds, unfortunately.” I realize that sounds mean, but the “I KNOW” statement is kind of a pet peeve of mine. I hear people say this when someone is trying to help by giving information, and it is really quite silly and in the end, transparently childish. “Don’t make me look stupid!” is what is actually being said.

There is no way for someone helping you in game to know your level of knowledge or expertise and to anticipate beforehand what you do and do not know about a subject you have asked a question about, and to edit their responses so that you do not FEEL stupid. (Your feelings are entirely your own, and although I am polite and friendly in game, and go out of my way to help, I cannot also make it so that everything I say is pleasant to YOUR particular ears.)

Personally, I do not think people who ask questions are stupid, in fact quite the opposite, most of the really intelligent people I know, are those who have asked questions all their lives and gotten many answered. It is these same people with the answers that I go to when I have a question! Of course you do not know this about me, either. You may just assume I am another jerk in a video game.

So as I whispered to the guy an apology if he thought I was being blunt or rude, he blocked me. He may have even reported me. So I took a screen shot of the entire conversation. Just in case. (There was nothing that I said that I believe could be construed by Anet as anything other than helpful, but my paranoia lies deep…)

But I still maintain: No one can KNOW what you KNOW unless they are a mind reader, or have known you a long long long time….and not 3 minutes of chat in a video game.

And Anet, if he reported me, I do have screen shots of the conversation. What he said to me in a whisper, I could have reported HIM for.

Sadly, some people just can’t be helped and usually don’t even deserve the help or the time you wasted giving it after learning what a sorry person he/she was.. But sadly we’ll never know that til you tired helping them. Players like him/her make players like you and I unwilling to help out in the future. It’s really sad to see how helpful you are to be treated so harshly. I really doubt anet will ban you over someone being a jerk. Try not to let it get you down. I like the title to your post by the way. You’ll be surprised on how many people I have met in my lifetime who expect you to read their mind.

Also, thanks for the advice!

The forum does that.. What ever foul word is used, it is replaced with Kitten.

one problem with a hard core mode here is aggro switching.

How many times have you been fighting etc when some other player comes trucking by with a few mobs in tow? Now his mobs are yours as well as the batch you were currently fighting.

Most times this is quite unintentional and someone is just traveling but this could be done with malice quite easily.

I don’t think it should be applied to the open world because it’ll cause an absolute kittenstorm, but having hardmode dungeons/instances/etc as an option would be nice (so there’d be 3 types of modes, story, explorable, then hardcore)

The whole point is to apply to the open world. I’m not asking for ANet to implement this in game, I am already doing….well, trying it. I’ve never once died from others dragging aggro onto me, but I have follishly killed myself other ways. Twice I fell to my own death (how tempting the exp and gear rewards of a Jump Puzzle can be when you arent allowed to use the BLTP), a few others were careless mistakes.

I’m enjoying trying to weigh the risk/reward of every battle before I go into it. The farthest I have made it so far is with a Mesmer, I made it to level 31. Pretty proud of that one. Too bad he also fell to his death (longest fall ever).

I really think that if we got a group of people together that we could get to 80, it’s nice to have someone watching your back.

Well, let’s just see how long it takes you to get tired of starting over all the time.

Death is easy. In Guild Wars 2 death means waypointing/waiting for a rez, and at worst a silver or two in repair costs. If you want to charge into the unknown with reckless disregard for safety, it works, but sadly it takes away from your run-of-the-mill adventuring.

Anyone who played the original Guild Wars probably remembers the Survivor title: 1,337,500 xp without dying. One slip-up, one moment of distraction, and your shot at the title was gone(later it merely reset). Diablo 3 took it one step further with its Hardcore mode: no restarts, no decking your new character out in the best gear from the start, and death means game over. Period. It’s harsh, yes, but it adds a delicious edge to everything you do, no matter how mundane. The idea here is to have a group of people sharing this same agenda to play together. The basic ground rules are: No importing equipment from other characters(i.e. no bank access) apart from bags, no crafting, and only partying with other hardcore toons. And dead is dead. You die before level 80, you delete the character(or you could, of course, choose to keep it, but remove it from HC activities.) Ideally, we’d like to take these characters throughout even the most challenging portions of the game, including dungeons.

We want to create a persistently challenging experience, as well as investment in these avatars. Normally if someone dies it’s simply “lol, oops!” and a rez/WP. But picture this: You and a couple HC players are engaged in a tough battle. You’re on the edge of your seat as you dodge, maneuver, and use every skill at your disposal to survive. The battle is prolonged and one of your buddies gets trapped and downed in a mob. You face a choice. You know he’s put 10, 20, 30+ hours into his character. You can play it safe and retreat, or put your own avatar at risk to revive/rally him. You make a split-second decision and leap into the fray, disrupting your foes enough to buy the downed player some time. It’s enough for your party to kill an enemy and rally him. Everyone scrambles for safety, the rallied player breathes a deep sigh of relief, and you reassemble yourselves to finish off your weakened enemies. Which sounds more fun to you?

Come on, you know you are up to the challenge….

Nope, don’t sound fun at all. Which is why I don’t play game with perma death. I play games for fun not to be stressed.

Finally good writing!

I’m excited to finally see interesting characters that have some attitude. Finally a story with a bit of an edge. Assassinations, people dying. I love it! Where was this writing throughout the personal story? We need more of this, this is good stuff.

Let me start by saying that the entire effigy ceremony was excellent. I loved the quick transition between cut scene and playable, where the dialogue continued straight into the game. And the chaos that erupted really had a lot of energy to it. Npc’s running all over the place, orders being yelled, it was great. The timing was good too. No weird pauses in between dialogues, or dialogues overlapping. It all ran smooth and felt fast paced. I totally got into the experience.

This only improved with the new cut scene where we meet Marjory. I love the style of the cut scene, and it feels a lot like the old cut scenes from Thief the dark project. It is great to see this style again. I also noticed how no 3d models were used, which always was an odd mix in the personal story. By making the entire cut scene 2d, including characters, it just looks way better. The dialogues also have a lot more humor to them, and I really enjoyed the film-noir feel of it all.

Kasmeer to me is a bit of an enjoyable airhead. I wonder if perhaps that is just on the surface. Maybe she is really a lot more clever than people assume. But it is just funny when ever she shows up. She is a character I enjoy, maybe for all the wrong reasons.

I never liked Logan, because he just has no personality what so ever. But surround him with characters that ARE interesting, and he becomes tolerable.

But then comes the investigation, and again this is such a strong plot-driven experience. This is what I wanted to see with the living story. Twists and turns, murder and mystery. Keep it up. I’m looking forward to seeing more. Now hopefully it won’t get predictable with Mai Trin being the villain. Because that would be way too easy. I hope it is a distraction, and in a twist it turns out she isn’t a villain at all.

Let me also say that it is great to get some more use out of Divinity’s Reach. That city needs more adventures, and it is great to see the story take us into the darker corners of it. I’m hoping the next installment of the investigation takes us further around the city, to many new places we haven’t been before.

I don’t know what problems you people have, but I have enjoyed my personal story and don’t see anything wrong with the writing and plenty of people die.

STOP LIVING IN LIONS ARCH!!!

There’s other cities to congregate and craft in … Guest to other servers if you have to.

sheesh…

Also, if you think these things are bad you shoulda been around for the YETI INVASIONS!

If I want to live in freakin Lions Arch I will live in Lion’s Arch until they evict me of not paying rent.. And I will craft in Lion’s Arch.. Who are you my dear to dictate where I should live and craft? Nobody that is.. You are a nobody.. I shall do as I please as long as I am not bothering anyone or plotting to do bodily harm to any visiting or resident pixels.. Even as annoying as your pixels may be.

It’s pretty obvious they don’t.

Well, no, that might not be true. But they definitely do not have enough people to reflect the large amount of playstyles people have and they choose to remain oblivious to a lot of them.

It’s pretty obvious you are wrong.

More and more I am experiencing this habit that the community has to despise people who claim to be skilled for this game.

Try it: go to LA, and say that you are a good player.
(Note: I am not saying I do it. This sentence is for rhetorical purposes)

People will instantly tell you that you lack humility, that you are an elitist, that you are despicable etc; for no reason.

People do not want to see or be aware of the fact that some players can be more skilled than them (no boasting, just statement of skill). The community seem to believe that they would be better off without such players.
It appears as if the community would like to stay bad and play only with bad people.

It is also the same on the forums.

I believe this is not benefiting the game in itself because it promotes stale and boring gameplay additions rather than diverse and challenging content.

As a comparison: when you play football as an amateur you play it for fun and you dream of being as skilled as the players of international level. In GW2 the ’amateurs" have no such dreams, worse: they do not want to face the fact that being better is possible.

With all due respect, why the discrimination?

A Good player is subjective to the one stating it Just because you see yourself as one doesn’t mean others will.. 99% of the those who assume they are good usually aren’t. Really who gives one the assumption they are a good player.. If the title is self given then you obviously aren’t and just being conceited. . And being a good player goes further than just skill at the game. It also depends on you as a player how you react to other players in the community.

Has anyone ever seen some one from anet actually play the game. Most of the time they talk about what is in the best interest of us or what they think would be more fun. But it seems to be going in the wrong direction cause everyone keeps complaining. I all most wonder if they even play there own game. I mean i wonder if they are satisfied with how it turned out.

Does everyone think that Anet or NCsoft or who ever makes the decisions is creating better content that the gamer actually wants or just easy filler to appease people cause they promised they would give us new stuff?

I’m sure they do.. I have seen them in game.

Dragon Bash - Bashing New Players

No one hinders new players. Resources within the game are never permanently destroyed once killed. They respawn.

I sense a couple of mistakes you guys are making. If you follow a group that’s killing things before you can get to them, don’t follow them if you can’t keep up. Go in the opposite direction and take out mobs. Also, if you just stand there, and allow others to kill the enemy (without making a single effort to “tag” it), then the fault lies in the player’s actions. This is fixed by teaching the new player what “tagging” means.

Keep in mind that every Heart has a different objective. You’re not stuck with just killing a single type of monster for credit. Some have multiple ways to complete the Heart quest.

Seriously, if the starter maps are so fun for high level characters where were they before Dragon Bash?

By killing mobs in mass amounts and quickly they are making the game much harder for new players to also get kills that award things such as exp, loot, and hey guess what dragon coffers for them too.

We are not talking simply about hearts. Low level players should be able to farm as well.

Please read my posts completely because I have already discussed the spawning and tagging issues that are affected by this as well.

Stop trying to put lipstick on a pig. It is evident that high level players are trashing the low level maps simply for coffers. I have been playing for a while and I know how tagging and hearts work. I have seen this flood of high level characters in low level areas affect low level/new players in a negative way in pretty much all aspects of the PvE game.

I’m guessing you don’t understand how the game mechanics work. When a monster is killed, they respawn after a short time. They’re not dead permanently.

The best way to go about this is to teach the new player how to attack the enemy to “tag” it. Consider using a Ranged type weapon if they are too slow to get into Melee range.

If the players in the map are killing things too quickly, then DO NOT FOLLOW THEM. Go in the opposite direction, meaning away from the group. This isn’t just for higher level “elite” players. You can have a zerg of low level players, their combined attacks and AOE can still take out enemies fast.

Going back to completing Hearts. Not all have requirements to just kill things. It’s good to read what each Heart quest requirement is, and do something other than killing stuff.

This isn’t wow.. There is no tagging in this game. Anyone can come up and hit a mob and along come another and hit the same mob and both get drops and xp from it.. All that tagging bs was left in wow.

Are you trying to say that us “elite” players shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy content from low end maps? I think that aside from the other people on the map griefing you with name calling, you’re also being rude to suggest that we not play those maps.

Please realize that having other down-leveled players in the area can actually help make Heart clearing faster. All you need to do is tag the enemy a few times, and you get credit for the kill, and for the Heart quest. If other people are clearing mobs, follow them and join in on the fun. But if you miss out on an enemy, it’s not the end of the world since they do respawn.

Why is it that players like you always have to pull stuff from your kitten when the op never stated it? Not one time did op state that others should leave the map. Might you reread his/her post again.. The Op isn’t being rude, but I find that you are.
