Same here. I get the same exact message. Almost every forum page I click, I have to reload 4 or 5 times before the actual page comes up and not the above error message. It’s getting extremely annoying.

ArenaNet, you need a new forum tech team. The one you have right now isn’t doing a very good job.

The original plan was to have in-game books somewhat like the ones made available in the GW1 Bonus Mission Pack content. We wrote nearly 100 of them but were unable to implement them due to the book tech getting cut from development in the months leading up to GW2’s release. We may revisit the idea one day.

FYI I’ve began assembling a crack squad of ex commandos to break into your office and get those never published bits of lore for my reading pleasure and insane speculation purposes.

In 1272 , a Krewe commando unit was sent to prison by an Asuran court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security laboratory to the Lion’s Arch underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem…if no one else can help…and if you can find them…maybe you can hire…The K-Team.

This is how they teach their children!?

That may be what the update is called, but I really doubt that it is just to introduce a rework of a boss fight. That can’t be all that’s in it. That’d be more bare bones than the original Queen’s Speech update.

sad fact it might be this chapter is all sab. can someone expl;ain how sab ties into the living story or do the devs have no clue at all

It will be revealed that the SAB is powered by none other than Elder Dragon magic!!!

I don’t know. I can’t think of anything.

… and why on Earth (on Tyria?) would she be after the queen?

I didn’t read the outside content on the GW2 page immediately. I jumped right into the game and then read the short story about Scarlet a day later. While I was in game though, it was obvious to me that Scarlet clearly did not want the Charr and the Humans united under the treaty, which would explain why she was after the queen. Charr and humans are stronger fighting against dragons together. They are weaker and easier to conquer by the dragons if they’re already worn out killing off each other.

It’s unclear why she wouldn’t want them united, but one of my theories is:
She is a closet minion for the plant dragon (Mordremoth?) and is knowingly/unknowingly carrying out his will.

Infinite Coil Reactor (Inquest Lab, replacement for Thaumanova Reactor), Zone Green…..death blossoms but no minion.

Crucible of Eternity (Center of the Infinite Coil Reactor), Primary purpose of facility is to study Elder Dragon energy, Lab Green, Subject Alpha…ability known as ‘Teeth Of Mordremoth’.

Scarlet Briar…all too conveniently a ‘graduate’ of all 3 Asuran Colleges.

Hope you guys get to revisit the book implementation one day. As far as cutscenes go, what if there was an NPC puppeteer in Divinity’s Reach that transposed these ongoing stories to puppet shows? Given DR’s unimplemented minigames, etc., maybe this would be a cool direction to go. The puppeteer could refer players to the library where these books, which would obviously be more descriptive than the shows, could be read.

All we need is a booth, a punchman and a bottler. Fond childhood memories.

Well, I tried it. I made it to King Toad, wasted my supply of twenty-something continue coins and logged out. Whomever states that SAB is solo content is out of their gourd. No offense but it’s true. Now, if you will excuse me I must go out and purchase a new keyboard as King Toad has left mine missing a few function keys.

No to jab, but if you really used 20 continue coins on King Toad then maybe you need some guidance. What’s wrong with joining a nice guild of friendly people to show you the ropes? “I don’t group”…ok but why not?

I know that I would not and can not improve as much and as fast without my guildies. I try to reciprocate where I can.

There is no such thing as a ‘nice guild’. I did the whole guild thing for 7+ years in WoW. Every ‘nice guild’ ended up being a complete nightmare at the slightest drop of the drama hat. There’s no reason for me to believe it will be any different here in GW2. I enjoy seeing others in the game world. I even enjoy helping them when I can. However, I do not enjoy partying up with them. It brings back too many bad memories.

EDIT: And, for me, that was one of the key selling features of GW2. The dynamic events allowed me to do group content without forming a party.

Pleasure to meet you (virtually, at least). I played Brute Force years ago while at Microsoft. It was fun. I watched some friends play Wing Commander when I was in high school. I didn’t have a gaming Windows machine until I entered the work force some years later, so I missed out on some of the classics.

It’s my very good pleasure to meet you, as well. I’m glad you enjoyed Brute Force. It holds a special place in my heart. I’m very proud of it’s unique squad-based gameplay. I only wish it would have sold more copies but I suppose that is a wish shared by most developers in regards to their creations. ; )

But anyway, back on topic. More in-game books would be lovely. I would not be opposed to more in-game storytelling, regardless of the method in which it is conveyed.

Just to be clear now…
Which part of “SAB is solo content that you can do if friends if you want to” you did not understand yet?

If it were solo content it wouldn’t prompt ‘suggested: 5 players’.

Alright. So your problem is ONLY with the message.
Tell me. If you were trying to eat soup and someone gave you a spoon and told you that it was a knife, but you could clearly see that it was a spoon and not a knife, would you use the spoon or would you refuse to eat with it?

Firstly, I wouldn’t use a spoon that someone else gave me.
Secondly, it doesn’t matter what they say, the spoon is not labeled nor shaped as a knife.

The SAB is shaped and labeled as a 5 man dungeon.

Oh man. Alright, let’s try with something that someone else said already here.

You want to leave a building. There is one door and it is written “Entrance” on it, not “Exit”. Everybody is telling that you can leave the building by using that door.
Do you refuse to use the door or do you exit the building through it?

I always obey entrance/exit signs and I would never step foot on an elevator marked as ‘out of order’.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s stupid to play an Online MULTIPLAYER game and absolutely refuse to play with other people?
I like to do things on my own, too. But refusing to play content, just because it requires you to come off your high horse… sorry… because it suggests to you to come off your high horse and play with some of the people around you, is just plain stupid.
Maybe you’re better off playing Super Mario Bros. Oh darn… “Bros” must mean, that there are at least two of them, so this is another game you will never even look at.

I’m not opposed to multiplayer content. Not at all. I do multiplayer content all the time. They are called dynamic world events. Shadow Behemoth, Wurm, Kralkatorrik, Tequatl, various champion mobs, etc.

What I am opposed to is forming an organized party to complete content, instanced or otherwise. I’ve had enough of the 5 man dungeons and 25 man raids in WoW. I did that for 7+ years. I came to GW2 because it didn’t require me to beg, grovel and plead with other players to ‘join my group’.

You can DEFINITELY finish World 1 by yourself. Please try it. It’s a ton of fun.

World 2, I would definitely wait till they tone down the difficulty.

I won’t. It clearly states ‘Suggested: 5 Players’ and I don’t group.

It’s just a standard instance message and that’s the only reason why you are seeing it! You can EASILY solo all of the world and zones, just give it a try!

No. If they want me to run SAB, they need to make it a solo instance and not a 5 man dungeon.

Sadly those of us whose internet bandwidth is less than stellar will be missing out on this. When there are 20-30 players, my fps is less than 1, which makes playing annoying. I cannot imagine it with 80plus.

Two releases in a row in which I cannot participate. SAB is a 5 man content patch and now Tequatl Rising, an 80 man content patch. I would go back to killing world bosses if there were enough people in those zones to actually down anything other than the pre-events.

The scenes in outside of Ketto’s lab go into some of these details, but I agree that having additional, optional items that add more depth to the story is always a good thing. We sometimes include this type of content in our LW releases (Southsun had journals) and other times we rely on dialog.

Thanks for this reply Bobby! I really like the journals on Southsun and Ebonhawke but I’d suggest to unlock these writings in some kind of UI (like a list of entries) once found. The reason why I think this would be important is because those entries would have a certain order which makes the whole story easier to look at than small fractals of info spread around in the world. Unlockables like this will also be highly motivating to complete… people will want to get rid of all those question marks in a list in order to get more lore entries. Furthermore those optional bits will make it interesting again to explore the world (in case these are rare random spawns in some specific offroad locations).

R. L. Stein Jr. is no ‘Jovial Bob’ but I could really get behind a trail of in-game books. Providing, of course, those books are logged into an interface that would put them in order and allow me to read them at my own leisure.

I’m just so sick of website-exclusive stories that are not even hinted at in-game, aside from the launcher window, that is.

LOL stop being such a cry baby, OP. It suggests 5 players, we all know you don’t need 5 players, you boycotting it only affects you so no need to whine on the forums.

We don’t ‘all know’ that you don’t need 5 players. Can you solo Cliffside Fractal? Can you solo Arah? Can you solo Swampland Fractal? There are a lot of dungeons that can be soloed if you have enough patience and if don’t mind the keyboard imprints on your forehead. Saying a 5 man dungeon can be soloed means nothing as it is still group content. I just want to know why there isn’t any solo content in this release. Is it too much to ask for a little solo content in an mmorpg?

This thread is about SAB though? Unless they weren’t around for it in April, 99% of people know it is soloable. You’re argument isn’t that you don’t know it’s soloable, you’re refusing to play content because of a silly message, which is silly. You KNOW fractals isn’t soloable, you know other dungeons aren’t soloable (with the exception of a few players who can solo dungeons such as Arah paths). I agree the message on SAB should just say ‘1-5 players’, but your attitude stinks.

I was here in April and I didn’t run SAB then, either, due to it being a 5 man dungeon. If they change it from a 5 man dungeon to a solo instance, I will run it. As long as it’s a 5 man, I will not step foot inside.

So, It looks like everyone is telling me that unless I want to attempt to solo a 5 man dungeon, I am out of luck for solo content this release.

Building a new CPU for GW2

I am a CPU noob and have 0 idea how to overclock, so I highly doubt I would ever do it, unless someone did it for me lol.

It would be worth learning. Many of the new processors have a turbo mode that will automatically overclock the processor. Many new motherboards also have a simple automatic overclock option in the system bios.

And the above suggestion to get the HD 7950 instead of the HD 7970 is good too, especially if you overclock the 7950.

Overclocking is really easy these days and there are safety systems built into the processors that will keep them from being damaged if you happen to mess up the clock/voltage settings.

It’s not trolling. For crying out loud this release directs everyone into a 5 man dungeon. All of the achievements take place inside that 5 man dungeon. I don’t do 5 man dungeons. Where is the solo content in this release? Oh right, there isn’t any solo content in this release. So players like myself may as well not even log on for the next month.

I’m angry and I’m expressing my honest opinion. Since when did that become ‘trolling’?

Since the moment you were told SAB is totally soloable, as was the playhouse. Neither of them require any special builds or skills and the playhouse actually got harder and slower to clear in a group, most cases.

The fact you choose to ignore these advice tells me you’re trolling.

If you want to express your concerns of Arenanet flagging solo content as group content, there’s a whole different way of doing that than whining that there is no solo content, when there is.

Many people can solo most of the 5 man dungeons. I’ve already stated that I do not run 5 man dungeons. I don’t understand your point.

The condescension is prevalent in both of your above posts. You are essentially telling us (me) that we (I) don’t understand what is going on with story because we are (I am) playing the game wrong or that we’re (I’m) not paying enough attention.

I could talk for hours about the lore and story of Guild Wars 1. I know those stories like the back of my hand. The only plot I have picked up in GW2 is that some mole people and Charr attacked us for some reason. Angry crabs attacked us for some reason. A walking plant attacked us for some reason. Pirates showed up and attacked us for some reason. Merchants came in on a flying boat for some reason. The Queen made a speech in which she said nothing for no apparent reason. Another walking plant attacked us for some reason. The Queen made a statement in which she said nothing of any substance, again for no apparent reason. What is going on here?

Nothing ties together in any cohesive manner. It all just seems randomly thrown together. It’s like that episode of South Park where a tank of manatees are tossing out beach balls with random words and you family guys are basing the stories on those random words. And every new Living Story release is just piling upon the confusion rather than giving an explanation. Yes, it’s frustrating as all get out. Yes, it makes me angry. I don’t play the game to farm zergfests. I play the game to be entertained by the story. As it stands, I’m not entertained. I desperately want to be but all I see are some random open ended short stories that lack any sort of resolution.

Don’t be condescending. You accuse us of misunderstanding the purpose of the website stories while the in-game storytelling is so poor as to be nonexistent. Then you tell us that it would be better if we don’t read the web stories?!? If that’s going to be your attitude, why bother to even write them?

The in-game plot, what little there seems to be, is stretched so thin that we, the players, are forgetting the ‘tidbits’. Your ‘pacing’ is far too slow. You may eventually give us some answers but only after we have forgotten the questions. Where does a player have to go to understand what is happening in this game? Because the game itself isn’t providing any answers whatsoever.

Just a minute. Is this a troll thread? It looks like a troll thread.

Again, SAB is meant both for solo players and groups. Believe us. We are telling the truth. The suggestion is just a suggestion, nothing else. A group is not needed. You can go solo. You already missed a cool instance (the Playhouse) and you are going to miss the SAB too if you refuse to listen to the other players.

No, it’s not a troll thread. I missed SAB the first time because of ‘suggested: 5 players’. I missed Molten Facility because of ‘suggested: 5 players’. I missed playhouse because of ‘suggested: 5 players’. I am going to miss SAB again because of ‘suggested: 5 players’.

I don’t do group dungeons. I don’t join guilds. I don’t join organized parties. I am a solo player and there is no solo content in this LS release. You can say it’s soloable all you want but virtually every 5 man dungeon is soloable if you want to bang your head against the wall for hours on end. I want to know why there is no content for solo players in this LS release.

I guess you’re needlessly missing out.

I just want to know where the solo content is located for this release. It’s not in SAB because it suggests 5 players.

So, as far as I can tell, this release is meant for groups only and solo players are out of luck.

SAB is soloable. World 2 might be a pain by yourself if you’re not good with jumping, though.

I’m great at jumping but I can’t go in SAB. Whether it’s soloable or not is meaningless. As long as it states ‘suggested: 5 players’, it’s group content. I don’t group.

This makes no sense at all. Scarlet’s Playhouse also stated “suggested: 5 players”, but you could easily go in alone and solo it all. Just click the button to enter SAB and see for yourself. You don’t need a group, it is not group content. It is solo content that can be played with friends if you want to.
You know, like you can take other people with you to the PS instances.

I didn’t run the Playhouse either because of ‘suggested: 5 players’. And I don’t know that I can take others into the personal story instances because I don’t group.

I won’t go into the SAB because it tells me to bring 4 other players. If it didn’t tell me to bring 4 other players, I would try to run it.

Where is the solo content for this release? I logged in, checked the achievement panel and there are no Living Story achievements except for the 5 man SAB. I don’t run group dungeons. What am I to do?

Where's the single player content?

SAB can be run by one person. The window you see is our standard dungeon entry prompt, which always warns about needing 5 players. Don’t let that stop you, head on in!

For as long as the SAB says ‘suggested: 5 players’, I will not step foot inside. I skipped it last time because of that and I will skip it this time for the same reason. If you want more people to run SAB, you need to remove the pop-up group suggestion. I don’t party with other players. I don’t do content that suggests that I party with other players.

Well I guess someones missing out then… not like anyone cares.
I don’t get your point besides complaining about something completely trivial and wanting attention

If you think I am the only one dissuaded by the group suggestion, you are greatly mistaken. This exact issue came up the last time the SAB reared it’s ugly head.

We need a ‘Shift+Right Click’ that will bring up a confirmation box that will let us enter a number from 1-250.

This should be available for use at vendors, for splitting stacks in your own inventory and for using consumable items like karma jugs and essences of luck.
