Invisible walls…aka…don’t go that way.

Restricting movement in an open world is a bad model. I’ve been stopped by some rather absurd invisible walls in the past. Kills immersion considering I’m a thief and part of the prof description was that I was supposed to be able to go where others cannot.

I’m not exactly sure why people feel so adamantly about getting rid of this, really. If one doesn’t like it, one doesn’t have to participate. Seems simple to me.

Part of the problem is that the people who do not participate in the bi-weekly zergfests have a harder time finding other players to complete non-zerg group content. The zone specific zergs also empty the game world and lead new players to believe the game has already died. There is nothing beneficial in funneling the majority of your player base to a single specific zone every two weeks. It only hurts the game.

I absolutely hate all zerg content.

You must die a insane amount of times… the loot you get from bags should cover any repair bills.. or farm some of the crafting nodes as you WvW and sell them but you shouldn’t be going broke unless you just die all day and never kill anything…..

I take it you’ve never bothered with upgrading keeps. If you had, you would understand my point.

That doesn’t sound right. I make 20-30 gold a week purely off WvW, most of it from selling mats I get from salvaging all the loot drops. I probably spend 20 silver a night at most on repairs. It’s not fantastic for making gold, but it’s hardly as bad as you make it out to be.

There’s also buying siege with badges, then selling them on the TP.

If you’re hiding in your keep/tower all night, you definitely won’t be getting much in the way of material rewards.

Then you are playing the wrong game because gw2 is evolving into that particular model.

Don’t know what game you’re playing. I’ve spent probably $50 on gems after I bought the game, and none of it was converted to gold. Has never been necessary. I only bought convenience/vanity items.

I’m a solo roaming thief. I spent over 100g in a single saturday in WvW, solo capping supply camps and upgrading keeps. The loot drops + time invested don’t even begin to make up for that amount of lost gold. WvW is a good way to insure that you are always broke.

But I have killed him. He drops greens, blues and yellows. If you are lucky, you may get an exotic. If you are ridiculously lucky, you may get an ascended item. So, for the average player, his loot table is no different than any other world boss. No point in beating your head against the wall for a chance at mediocre loot when that same loot drops elsewhere.

I would like the DE NPCs to stop running up to me and ordering me to help them. The most annoying one is at Mabon Market in Caledon…that annoying little Asura that keeps spouting “You there! Come here and listen!” I wish I could attack them.

I don’t understand what the big deal is with legendaries. I really don’t. Is it a status thing?

Well then. I suppose that Marionette is going to get a lot of leg work as the periodic testing cycles will begin to fail after the first day or two.

I love PvP but I don’t even have a clue as to how to enter a sPvP match. When I want to PvP, I just solo roam in WvW. Less stress in solo WvW roaming anyways.

The same amount I have spent in the cash shop…nothing. It’s called the ‘Mystic Toilet’ for a reason. You’ve just gotten lucky.

The ‘evil guys become permanent allies’ bit only works if they’ve done things that the hero can forgive. The amount of damage caused by Scarlet is too great for that to be believable. Unless she was controlled by outside forces, I’d not see that happen in any believable way.

It’s good that she’ll be Ceara again then It seems pretty telling that as soon as she went “insane” her identity changed from Ceara to Scarlet Briar…outside force there you go….she’ll be back to Ceara again by then end of the LS.

I tried a full day of WvW. It was fun…at first. I’m a thief so I solo roamed, killing dolyaks, taking supply camps, running resources, upgrading, etc. At the end of the day, i had spent well over 100g and couldn’t even afford to repair my armor. After that, I’ve only been back to WvW to enter the Jumping Puzzles…well, until those rewards were nerfed too.

There’s no incentive for me to go to WvW. I like it and all but I like having gold and armor better.

I would love to see another small, separate, fun and lighthearted story arc much like Kieran Thackery/Gwen wedding from GW1. Something that is started and concluded in one, maybe two, releases. Something that also isn’t just an achievement grind, and focuses on story and building characters. They could have done so much more with Evon Knashblade and Ellen Kiel, but they turned them into instance grinds instead of fun interactions with interesting NPCs.

I don’t care if it’s challenging. I don’t care if I get a cool item. I don’t even care if it gives almost no achievement points.

I want something fun and interesting, and I want to be able to replay it any time I want.

Seems they could also do multiple simultaneous zone-by-zone story arcs if the teams release smaller updates. It could help spread out the population rather than funneling everyone onto a single map for a lag-filled, 24/7 zergfest. Each LS team could then also focus on a complete story for their set of assigned zones rather than attempting the insertion of a contiguous and major release between two other separate LS teams. You could still have the massive world-changing events but just maybe less frequently. Those larger events could then also be tended by a separate team which would coordinate, when necessary, with the zonal LS teams in order to maintain coherence in the over-arching plot lines.

And I really don’t like a two week release schedule. I would much prefer to be surprised and have the content released when it is absolutely ready. This is assuming, of course, a more permanent nature to the content releases. I wouldn’t want to be surprised that I was one LS currency away from a skin and the content was suddenly removed without warning.

Honestly, it does not matter what topics are covered in the LW releases; if I cannot play through the content at my own pace, I will not play it at all. It is so frustrating to have my play timeframe constantly dictated by ANet. You folks put a lot of work into this stuff, I know, but my enjoyment of it is completely spoiled by the stress of waiting for the carrot to be yanked away.

This is a common complaint, and one that we’re very aware of. We’re discussing a variety of ideas that will allow players more flexibility in experiencing the Living World content, but we’re not ready to announce the details since the designs aren’t finalized yet.

How was deathwing little exactly? If Im not mistaken, just the act of him coming up from Deepholm shattered Azeroth and transformed the entire world..burning everything creating large cracks and valleys and reshaping everything. I wouldn’t dismiss the concept of deathwing as little because you may not like WoW. Now, whether or not you consider the fight itself difficult is a different story…but the concept and idea of deathwing was epic in scale and had strong ties to lore.

Arenanet could learn something from this and pull a large boss/monster out of lore instead of trying to invent one.

Galakrond was much larger than Deathwing.

When you perform any wintersday activity – be it PvE gift boxes, Bell Choir, Toypocalypse, the jumping puzzle in LA, Tixx’ airship or help with the Dolyak events…. you will get the usual reward (karma, xp, …) and in addition one or more completely free items named Wintersday Gift.

So they aren’t gifts but rather bribes to keep you logged on, participating in the activities? I don’t do carrots on sticks. They should change the name of the item from ‘Wintersday Gift’ to ‘Wintersday Reward’.

If Scarlet is involved, who cares? It will be four releases of absolute garbage.

I’m boycotting Wintersday as there are no actual gifts to open without first killing mobs or doing a jumping puzzle or escort mission. By definition, that is not a ‘gift’. It is mission loot/rewards.

Those aren’t gifts. Those are loot/rewards for a group event. So if that’s all there is, then there are no gifts this year. Why even bother with a Wintersday event if there aren’t going to be any gifts?
