FYI, they changed something last week to make WvW server position movement happen a bit more often. Sorrow’s Furnace has been the green server in T8 for months, but finally moved up to T7 last week. I am hoping this is helping other servers move around a bit more too.
You do NOT get booted out of the instance if you lose all your lives (even when you solo).
If you lose all your lives, you get sent to an area where you can choose to use a continue coin to continue with 5 more lives. If you do not have any continue coins in your inventory, a shady merchant does appear and will sell you a continue coin for 50 baubles instead of the outside price of 25 baubles with Moto. If by chance you cannot afford the continue coin, then you are out of luck and only option is to leave instance.
The 25 bauble price was removed a while back. It was only in for the first few days. Now, you can only buy 5 continue coins for 1 bauble bubble from Moto.
My 5 year old computer basically died, so I’m looking at building a new one. Previously I was playing GW2 on mostly low settings (with frequent crashing), so I’d like something that can run it better.
I’m looking at the following site for ideas:
http://www.logicalincrements.com/
How would something in the Very Good to Great categories run GW2? Any specific advice on parts? For example, are there any known issues with those graphics cards and GW2?
The chaotic material event is the first part of the event chain leading to the fire elemental. It seems that the veteran events that spawn in the area can block the start of the chain. So, as Dasorine said, just kill stuff that pops up under events in the area. If it still doesn’t spawn, then it might be bugged.
Is the chance to get a fused weapon ticket from a BL chest for a limited time only or is this a permanent addition?
I also got the achievement without the slingshot. I got the candle for free (zone 2?).
I ended up using Dulfy’s guide because it’s the only way of knowing whether you have them all before doing the boss.
I also used a guide for this reason. Even so, I ended up missing one and had to repeat the whole zone twice more until I realized my mistake.
same here used the guide for zone 3 and twice failed.
I also used Dulfy’s guide for Z3 and failed, after having spent 3 hours making sure I got everything. I was not pleased.
I wouldn’t have even bothered with a guide if the achievement wasn’t dependent upon ending the level (or if there were a counter). I have no problem exploring, but I do have a problem dedicating that much time to it only to find out past the point of no return that I missed something.
Over the weekend I had the same experience with zone 3. Took me 2.5 hours and I missed one. The second try took under an hour though, and I got them all.
Josh was my favorite after the Clock Tower. Now he has just cemented his position with SAB.
I agree. If you leave and the world resets, you should start with 5 lives the next time you enter.
This part was very tricky due to the bugginess of the mushrooms. Sometimes the bounce animation would take longer. Sometimes I would rubber band and I couldn’t tell if I fell or not. Sometimes I would face plant and keep bouncing in that position. Ultimately, it just took trying it enough until I got it. Taking my time with each jump and positioning myself on the edge of the mushroom towards the next one helped. Also, the video on dulfy.net helped me figure out which jumps were possible.
The first time I did this, I actually got to the top, finished the zone, but didn’t get the bauble achievement. It turns out that I had missed a bauble that was above the highest mushroom (not sitting directly on it). So I had to do the whole zone over again. Luckily the second time was much faster.
In real life I get motion sickness when I try to read in a moving car. To the point where I refuse to read inside the car at all. However, I never get motion sickness when I play video games. In fact, I haven’t had a single game make me sick yet. The SAB doesn’t make me sick at all, which is fortunate. In fact, I can shake the screen violently with my mouse for 5 minutes straight, and still be perfectly fine. I keep my head very still when I play video games, because that’s how I concentrate. I play on a screen that’s 1920×1080, but I have also played on much lower resolution screens with no problem. The human brain is a mystery.
I am exactly the same. I can’t look at anything but the road when in a car, but I’ve never gotten motion sickness from video games. However, virtual roller coasters do make me very sick. For me, it’s the problem of my brain expecting my body to be moving based on visual cues when I am actually sitting still. The games that I play (such as GW2) are such that my brain is able to detach what I’m seeing from actual life. I suspect that a first person extremely realistic video game (graphics wise) might give me motion sickness though.
It could just show 100/500 or 100/250 for example.
Well some people like titles and like to show them off. I think the people who want to hide them are the other group who either don’t care as much or don’t want them to be as prominent, especially when there are lots of players on the screen.
Other than the Clocktower and the Wintersday JPs, Skipping Stones was the most challenging for me. Apparently there used to be a shortcut, but it was fixed before I completed the puzzle, so I did the whole thing from the beginning. I have never used a mesmer portal for a JP, and I routinely do the EB JP. They are a fun challenge!
I would love to see a mini panel, similar to the Ranger pet panel, where once you collect a mini, it shows up and you can select it even if it is in your collections tab. Also, this would allow you to use the same mini on multiple characters and would not use up bag space.
This is a brilliant idea Elena, i’ll quote it in the main post.
Thanks!
I just want to let out a sincere thank you to Josh for letting us know the droprate. You don’t know how nice it is to hear it. Not sure why MMOs don’t like divulging that sort of information, it is EXTREMELY helpful and we love hearing it.
Definitely agree!
hmm could have sworn I got one when visiting the shortcut worm
You do get a separate achievement for finding the shortcut worm. Maybe that’s what was triggered?
So I guess I suck @ my favourite game… but that is no excuse to make these so hard. On the contrary. If you are so good to solo them why not make them available for the lamers like me for ex…
Lol I’m no lamer – I’m just so behind in gear and guess why – because I have trouble farming it. Don’t get me started on that one please.
I’m pretty sure that you can’t finish at least one of them (Swashbuckler’s Cove) by yourself – I had to help a person level 80 and in full necromancer dungeon gear to finish it. Try to finsh by yourself Professor Portmatt’s too. Let’s see how you do that with like level 55 char with blue/green gear only!
I soloed Swashbuckler’s Cove. Sure it wasn’t easy, but I did it. Sounds like you were able to finish it though, even without a guild.
I also soloed Professor Portmatt’s lab, but I used a walkthrough for the numbers. If you’re having problems doing it at your current level and gear, then maybe wait a while until you are higher level and have better gear. It doesn’t mean that it requires a guild though.
I got the achievement without finding the shortcut worm. I’m fairly certain it is not part of the achievement.
I did follow the arrows exactly and got it with no problem. I don’t remember which path I took when it split in zone 3. It’s possible I did both.
Yeah, they sound like light sabers.
Is this a serious answer?
Yes, I have the GS and when you wave it around it does have a digital swishing sound, it also makes a sound when sheathed… I suppose it could be similar to a light saber im not too familiar with that whole franchise lol
Also the staff seems to have no sound but the bird on the perch it actually animated which makes it cool
Okay, thanks. I couldn’t quite tell if it was serious or a joke.
Yeah, they sound like light sabers.
Is this a serious answer?
I believe you can get some of them, but I think you have to complete it on normal mode to get all of them.
I just want more staves with particle effects or something that will even show up on my little asura.
I like these ideas.
I would love to see a mini panel, similar to the Ranger pet panel, where once you collect a mini, it shows up and you can select it even if it is in your collections tab. Also, this would allow you to use the same mini on multiple characters and would not use up bag space.
I have done every JP in the JP achievement category (plus the holiday ones), and I’m pretty sure I’ve done them all solo. I have had no problems finding pugs for dungeons using gw2lfg.com.
My guild only has three other active people currently, so not even enough for a dungeon.
Sometimes I will find that JP chests don’t always reset during the server reset. Sometimes I will find a chest already opened even if I haven’t done it during that “day”. However, if I come back hours later, before another server reset, the chest will have reset. The behavior is a bit strange.
I just noticed this recently too.
Yes please! I have finished all of the jumping puzzle achievement category and would love a title for it.
I’ve been playing since launch, have opened every dye I’ve found, and have never found Abyss, Celestial, Midnight Fire, or Midnight Ice. The most valuable one I’ve found has been Gold dye, which I sold for about 5g.
Yeah I’ve noticed that I always start with a coin if I had lived left when I left the instance previously. If I used up my lives, then I had to grab another coin, but then got 5 lives. So it might make sense to use up all your lives when you leave so that you get the starting 5 max the next time you enter. Unless there is some drawback I’m not thinking of.
Maybe it’s so that the baubles don’t spawn right on top of you and immediately get collected before you can see what they are.
Josh Foreman stated that the chance is 1 out of 50.
Josh, I just want to thank you for all your responses on this thread. It’s very interesting to hear about the development process and things you would like to see changed or just your thought process for the decisions that were made. I’m having a blast in SAB, and I can’t wait to see more of it!
I think that adding a counter in Infantile mode is a good compromise. (Besides, I think everybody who’s trying for the Bauble achievements is doing it in Infantile mode anyway.)
Actually I got all zone one and two baubles in normal, but I did use a guide for the more difficult ones to locate.
I will probably do zone three in infantile though.
Quitting the game and restarting it will also fix the camera.
Awesome idea!
I agree. I love that this is essentially a dungeon I can do by myself on my own time without needing other players.
Elementalist here. The order of my attacks are built around comboing with myself. Combos with another player are just bonus.
I ended up using Dulfy’s guide because it’s the only way of knowing whether you have them all before doing the boss. A counter would’ve meant I would have tried to do it on my own, without the tedium of having to re-do it all over again if I missed one without knowing.
I also used a guide for this reason. Even so, I ended up missing one and had to repeat the whole zone twice more until I realized my mistake.
So I finally got to the shortcut worm, and this bug happens to me almost every time I enter it! Luckily it fixes itself at the end, but I’m bouncing on my face through the whole worm.
I have hit this too. Relogging didn’t fix it, but closing and reopening the game did.
Yeah I have done that jump as a normal jump. I’ve also fallen to my death a number of times on it.
Thanks for the cat tonic video! Looks awesome.
No problem. Good luck!
The rainbow clouds (“infantile mode”) won’t give you bauble bubbles in the chest. You can still get the regular baubles that way. To get the bauble bubbles, you have to do normal mode. Solo is fine.
The chests out in the open world (e.g. outside the SAB) were for April fools only.
The chests in each zone inside the SAB after killing the boss should still be there.
It might be the case that they can only be looted once per chest per day though. I read it was once per character per chest per day, but that could have been wrong, and it’s actually once per account per chest per day.
It’s per character per day. I did zone 1 on 5 characters yesterday and got 10 bauble bubbles.
I really love how they turned some of their regular music 8-bit, for example the start of Sunny Glade theme and this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqQuq3bMHZE
Or that one part in Kingdom of Fungus that shares a part with one of the Plains of Ashford tunes…
EDIT: Ah, this part from the Plains of Ashford tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9STpiV6y-6E&list=PLD78AC8B21CEA93EF&feature=player_detailpage#t=58s
Ah I knew that part of Kingdom of Fungus sounded familiar. Thanks!
The Sunny Glade track is actually called Logan’s Journey on the official soundtrack. I love that one.
I followed all the arrows, but I didn’t trigger both clouds at the split in zone 3 or trigger all the rainbows at the frog boss.
my 27th was the shop in zone 1. Other than that you just need to step on all clouds. Did you trigger though both paths at end of zone 3 when it splits in 2 direction and jump on all 3 during frog boss?
I didn’t step on all those clouds, and I still got the achievement.
