Yeah key drops used to be much more common. I wonder if they are trying to urge people to buy them in the gem shop with such a low drop rate.

The chests in the PvE world reset at the daily reset. The WvW chests (from jumping puzzles) are on a 24 hour timer per character.

Sad really. So if you see a chest event make sure you jump in while you can, as once people get their daily chest they likely aren’t going to be willing to participate more than once since there’s no longer a reward for doing so.

sigh, this is going to make it so much harder to get people for temple and dragon events.

I have too. Rares are much more common from chests now, and I even got an exotic from Maw.

The same thing happened the day laurels were introduced. The devs already know about it, and didn’t change it. So maybe they don’t care or have more important things to worry about.

Oh, I also did Jormag (got a rare), and the Borderlands JP twice (two characters) and got a rare on one of the two runs.

I already have map completion on one character, but our server has been green for months. Seems like no chance of changing any time soon. I’m sure other servers are in the same boat. The color should be random each week.

Maw is now a once a day chest, but from what I saw the rewards were increased a lot. Now it is common to get at least a rare. I did this twice on one character yesterday (before and after reset) and once on another character. Rewards:
- One exotic and one rare
- One rare
- Two rares

Plus blues and greens.

The JP was in there for an hour or two before today’s reset. I’m sure it will cycle back around. They seem to change every day like they did before, we just have more to choose from now.

JP is one of them, and they change every day. I suspect we’ll see vets as well. Events is there, you just have to be downleveled for them. 3 skill points is also one.

Drops for chests just got a whole lot better. My first try at Maw today I got an exotic and a rare. Tried it on another character and got a rare. No more just blues and greens every time.

Yeah this seems faster to me than the old dailies.

One thing I’m missing: is there the “named” armor theme somewhere? (Devona’s, Zho’s, etc.) All I know is that it’s exotic and only gotten through loot.

This will get easier with today’s patch, which will allow you to preview items on the TP.

If you have a lot of karma saved up, you can get some good exotic armor from the karma vendors in Orr:

Personally I find this the easiest way to gear up a new level 80 until you can grind dungeons or get all the materials to craft the stuff you really want. Note that the event chain must have been completed and the waypoint for each has to be uncontested for the karma vendor to spawn. What I did was just keep checking the map to see when they were available. Sometimes they get bugged though, and the event chains break (meaning that the karma vendor won’t spawn until they are fixed).

perhaps the item you’re transmuting onto has to be at a level your char (the one transmuting) can wear it, so no higher than level 2? I have never tried transmuting onto pieces higher than my character, so I don’t know for sure.

It has crossed my mind, but helns only come after lvl 11 so i will have to do some leveling before i try it.

About a month ago I was able to transmute starting items to helms on a level 2 character (and give them to other characters on my account).

I tried out gw2lfg.com this weekend, and it is great! Groups can form up very quickly using that site. Cross server grouping for dungeons also helps make this a lot easier.

Or if the person who started the instance suddenly decides he or she doesn’t like the group and leaves. All progress is instantly lost and the rest of the group is kicked from the dungeon.

I used gw2lfg.com to run TA a bunch this weekend. Only one bad group in the bunch (leader ditched in the middle, kicking us out, then everyone else left).

TA has the best looking armor in my opinion, which is why I’m doing it.

Most of my dyes seem to come from plant nodes. It does seem like lower level characters find more in loot though.

It really depends on what you’re looking for. I’ve actually always really liked the standard antique gold for any metal I wanted to look like gold.

Drakes with firebreath have a pretty long windup for their attacks. Took me a few tries to get the timing right and then was able to complete the achievement with them.

Btw, this was on my ranger. I told my bear to not attack. Still the drakes would sometimes attack the bear instead.

I got this on some Drakes that have a very obvious attack – yellow/black animation for a while before they breathe fire. It took a few tries to get the timing right, but was able to do it successfully enough to get the achievement.

Thanks for the link! The page says that they must be unlocked by completing the temple event. Is this just getting the karma vendors to show up as before or is this something else that must be done on a character basis?

It’s a little frustrating actually that the same category of gear can dye differently. It means that the armor doesn’t always match when using the same color dye.

Can anyone confirm whether transmuting a soulbound item into an unbound item causes it to become accountbound or not? Mostly just pieces that are used for looks.

The prime example is moving starting armor like the Guardian’s pauldrons with the ankhs to some other character that uses heavy armor.

I can confirm that this works with starter gear. I have done it with the necromancer eyes and thief hood. The lowest level head gear item I found was level 10 off the TP (white). After transmuting, the items became account bound.

My personal rule is to salvage whites, blues, and greens if their vendor value is less than 1s. If over 1s, I sell to vendor or check TP for higher value.

Funny, I’ve found the hero panel colors to be brighter than the game world.

The pink underwear is not visible through that chestpiece. It shows the skin color instead. I wear the feathered set myself (female asura).

Also, I’m not sure if males and females have the same faces, but if not, then that is definitely a female face.

Chest is feathered (crafted) for sure. Legs do looks like exalted karma. There are also a similar crafted legs, but those are longer. Shoulders are definitely Twilight Arbor.

I waited to do the JP until one week when our server was dominating. Lots of friendlies in there and no enemies. I avoid it otherwise.

I just wanted to chime in that this trick still works (as of a week or two ago). I bought a level 10 white headpiece off of the TP, transmuted, and the item became account bound. Also works on the Necromancer eyes.

Can you get ectos from rares or only exotics?

I have been collecting all the rare and exotic drops I’ve found and they are filling up my bank. Some I will pass on to alts. What is the best thing to do with the rest? Salvage? Throw them in the forge? Sell on the trading post?

I’m level 80, but I have not started yet on gathering stuff for legendary weapons.

I remapped my 5-9 skills. 5 (heal) is now a button on my mouse. I changed 6-9 to Shift-1 to 4 so that I can use my left hand only to press them. Then my right hand is free to always use the mouse.

Hehe, these made me giggle. I myself have used Ride the Lightning directly off a cliff at least a few times.

I like the trenchcoats and created my human engineer because of the medium armor. However, I dislike the light armor on most races.

For light armor, on the humans, norn, and sylvari, there aren’t many options that aren’t revealing. Light armor on my female asura is almost all pants (would like more robes and skirts!).

More options are always appreciated!
