Ah that must be how I triggered it. I got it yesterday after killing only the red knight (BEFORE blue and green). Seems buggy.

I got it randomly after we killed the first knight yesterday. Never have killed them all in under 6 minutes on my server or in OF.

Well a lot of people have more than one class. You also just need to level an Ele high enough so to can use the mist form. You only need to be level 5.

You get achiev from doing the mist thing?

That’s how I got the achievement. She knocked me back a few times, and then I was able to start the stomp, hit mist form, and finish it.

A display problem I found. When my hair is behind the horns, I can’t see the flames. They only show when I position the camera such that the environment or other characters are behind them. Since most of the time, I and others will be looking down on my asura (with hair behind them), this makes it difficult to see the flames.

I actually like the thoughtless potion on my asura.

Guest to a high populated server and do it in overflow.

Overflow servers are shared between all the servers, not just high pop ones. Although it is true if you’re on a high pop, you’ll more likely end up in overflow.

Sure, you can guest to any server, but overflows tend to be populated. On my server, only a handful of people even show up anymore. Guesting to a high pop server like Blackgate almost guarantees you’ll be in overflow. If not, then you get to do the event with a high pop server, so it’s win-win!

This doesn’t happen with the Tequatl wings. I’m the smallest possible model. I do see a gap with the Mad Memories book.

There is no point, that is the fun part. There is a free ‘Royal Terrace’ and that is WvW. Go to your home borderlands and you got everything there. After you are done relog quickly and you are in the exact spot you were before.

Rata Sum is a good option as well of course but then you won’t be where you were and it costs you travel money.

Actually you don’t need to relog from WvW. Just go back to the mists, and then click the Leave the Mists button and you’ll be back where you started in the world. Of course, maybe relogging is faster, depending on your load time.

Btw, last year I managed to make all 5 infinite tonics. Some took less than 10 tries (I think I even got one on the first attempt), while at least one took about 35 tries. It’s completely random, and I’m not sure what the chances are with each attempt.

That’s consistent with last year. If you didn’t get the tonic, you got back a gift with the frame and some temporary tonics. You had to keep trying over and over again to get the infinite one. Glad you got the frame back.

I ran around for a long time before I realized there was a ladder looking structure laid horizontally kind of near the center of the map a little away from where that giant present spawns after beating the golem.

EDIT: Moral of the story, hit things even if you don’t think it’s something that can be smashed. Like others have said Staff 1 and flamethrower work great for spamming areas.

Someone’s going to be angry when next year, we see the same old Dragon Bash, the same old Queen’s Gauntlet, and the same old Bazaar of the Four Winds.

And yet other people that didn’t get to experience them the first time around will be angry if they’re too different as well (see the complain threads on the halloween event).

It seems like the best solution is to keep the old stuff in and add more new stuff as well each year. This is how it has been done in many MMOs over the years.

It’s not lag. Lag appears much differently, and I can tell when that is happening. When lag hits, the notes don’t flow as smoothly down, and knowing the songs as well as I do, I can still sometimes hit the notes correctly.

With this bug, the notes are flowing as normal, I’m hitting them at the right times, and not a single one registers.

Yep, this happens to me occasionally. Every note I play is missed even if I play them correctly. Exiting the stage and re-entering fixes it.

Definitely a bug, as I’m someone who regularly gets a 600 score, so it’s very noticeable when every single note I play is shown as missed.

Since Wintersday goes for so long, I’m guessing you can finish the whole meta with dailies only if you wanted.

Last year the minis were also available in the gem store, but you could not make all 5 using the mystic forge.

I think it’s a perfect time for a break. Devs get to celebrate the holidays, and players who go on vacation or can’t play for a while don’t miss new content. The two week schedule has been a bit hectic to me.

Last year the most vocal were the ones who got the fifth tonic instead of the dolyak or toymaker’s. Considering that if you get the dolyak tonic instead of toymaker’s you can just sell it for lots of gold and buy many toymaker’s, I’d guess the odds are pretty good. This is just my opinion, I have no data to back it up. Personally, I gambled last year and got the toymaker’s tonic.

Also, since there are now recipes for the endless tonics (once they’re fixed), maybe you will have more chances if you get the recipes and make them.

I just buy more giant gifts with them.

The original was based on the T3 human cultural armor, which meant that non-human races basically had access to human cultural armor. So they removed it temporarily, but didn’t take it away from those who had already purchased it. However, when they introduce the new one, those who have it now will find theirs changed to the new version. I believe they said people could ask for refunds at that point since the armor will change.

I think I have 4 or 5 stacks of cogs. I used my frames to craft the tonics and get the endless toymaker’s tonic instead of the minis.

I regularly grief AP farmers in Crab Toss that want to get the win and use fishing pole on them even if they don’t have the crap. (It’s still a legit strategy to weaken the strongest so he won’t get easy win).

Don’t think in LA it is griefing. You still get loot and don’t need to do much for event credit I think. Would be hard to lock someone completely down.

Now I’m just thinking about. If you had a party of 3-5 you probably could keep someone down. Just target a random sucker and everyone fire at him. 3-5 due to cooldowns and having to pick up more snowballs. I highly doubt you would prevent them from getting credit for the event, but you could probably prevent them from picking up a present since it will despawn after a little bit.

I’m pretty sure all you have to do is drop your own snowball to stop from being hit by them.

It can be rough when you are with people who need more practice, but when you end up with a group of people who know what they’re doing, it can really sound awesome! You get the teamwork feel that you would never get doing it alone.

The clock tower was both a pvp minigame AND counted for daily jumping puzzle.

I find it easier to play when you can hear the melody and timing. But I am musically inclined. It is definitely easier when the people nearby you are doing well too, as their missed notes can throw you off.

The upper part has the most notes, but is often the melody, and can be easier to hear. I find the lower part to be the easiest. The upper is hardest for me, but also the most fun. I’ve gotten max score on all parts.

I haven’t checked since patch start, though — is there any way to get the Winter’s weapons other than paying 5 tickets each to the Trader (or, of course, paying on the TP for a skin someone else spent 5 tickets on). I really expected those to go to 1 ticket for the event’s duration. Or at least for there to be new ones in the theme for those weapons not covered, and -those- to be 1 ticket.

I got a bell focus skin in one of the Giant gifts yesterday. Last year I ended up with about 2-3 of each skin (most of which are still sitting in my bank).

Surprised no one has pointed out that the OP got new skins. 3 count them, 3 new back piece skins. One of which is not tied to a random number generator. Also a new full set of armor for all 3 weight classes. I know hes upset about not getting new weapons skins this year, but I didnt see anyone complaining about not getting new armor and back piece skins last year. Perspective; it really is everything.

But the new skins and armor sets are not related to Wintersday. Some of us really enjoy the themed stuff for holidays, and I’ll admit I was disappointed to not see anything new this year.

Are the craftable tonics infinite?

The two NPCs take donations until their “bar” is full. Then the escort starts. They can both go at once or be offset. The dolyak drops packages along the way during the escort that everyone can pick up. Once the escort is done, it seems like they start collecting again pretty quick. The escort itself can take a little while though.

The collection NPCs have the collection icon (orange with an arrow) on the mini map when they are collecting.

They made it a PvP game to eliminate all possible speed buffs, giving everyone equal footing.

It sounds like they would have to recode instanced PvE to put in the same restrictions, and they are likely spending their time on other stuff instead.

The dolls are the worst with many stacks of confusion.

Yeah the dolyak escort seems to be the best bet while lots of people are in Lion’s Arch doing it. You can also get up to 8 gifts from the bell choir (for 6 songs) if you do well.

I have cogs from last year (3+ stacks?). I haven’t seen any stuffing/glue drop. No frames and no stuffing/glue… looks like they didn’t intend us to be able to reuse our old stuff. I’m still not deleting them until I know for sure they will never have a use though.

I have the node, and I think it’s great that these are easier to get now.

I had to do a couple of passes on the entire thing to find the last two bits I was missing. I did it solo using AoE’s. I was missing a small part of a fence next to a hill and a ladder thing on the ground.

Oh, and I didn’t finish the events either. Made it a little harder with all the skrit running around, but still doable.

Congrats. Next challenge… get max score on all three parts.

Tonight, I appear to only have problems connecting to anet’s login servers. Specifically, from gw2.exe -diag:

das moran, the problem is that 209.204.190.68 isn’t the right ip address for cligate.101.NCPlatform.net. The correct ip address of cligate.101.NCPlatform.net should look like 64.25.40.x where x is some number.

209.204.190.68 is the ip address of a server sonic.net’s DNS server is sending people to if it thinks that a hostname is used for phishing. If you open ‘cligate.101.NCPlatform.net’ in your webbrowser on sonic.net right now, you’ll see a big warning.

The problem is that cligate.101.NCPlatform.net has been flagged as a malware site by sonic.net (probably eroneously :P). Until they fix it, your best workaround is not to use sonic.net’s DNS servers. I can confirm this worked for me.

The choir mini game was my FAVORITE part of Wintersday last year. I’m all for adding new content, but removing old favorites is a mistake.
