If you’re going to put bleeding on anything, it should go on dancing dagger, but that’s neither here nor there since that skill isn’t even in question.

Before even touching anything else I would reduce the damage on Mug by at least 33%.

After touching Mug I would reduce the damage on Cloak and Dagger by 20%.

If there was still a problem I’d take some damage off of Backstab – but I suspect the first two changes would put things more or less in line.

(Code fixes aside)

Regarding Flanking Strike, I think the ability functions itself are fine. It’s just the animation pathing that needs fixing, if turning it into a shadowstep is the only way to accomplish this then that is all we need IMO.

First Strike (base dmg)-remove boon-shadowstep-second strike (high dmg)

Some ideas and reworks:

  • Black Powder: Add Confusion ticks for enemies that remain inside the field
  • Smoke Screen: Changed to a PBAoE like blinding powder, add confusion ticks for enemies inside the field.
  • Fix Flanking Strikes Pathing
  • Body Shot: Change animation to two attacks, one with the right hand one with the left, each shot grants 5 vulnerability. Or one shot applies vulnerability while the other removes a boon.
  • Vital Shot: Change animation to use both pistols if the offhand pistol is present.
  • Trait that improves damage or crit chance against blind enemies
  • Trait that improves damage or crit chance against dazed enemies
  • Remove blind from infiltrator shot and improve the range
  • Change traps from line to circle and let make them persist for a couple of seconds like caltrops.

Sneak attack is the condition stealth opener, backstab should remain the same and the Mug/CnD/Backstab combo should be negated by stopping CnD precast working with steal/mug. I wouldn’t be against an increase in revealed time either just as long as we had a more obvious visual to identify when we can stealth again.

I did suggest a new trait called Smash and Grab for the acrobat tree in beta or after launch sometime for a Knockback on steal trait. Knockback (not knockdown) would be a handy feature that couldn’t be followed up with a backstab or tactical strike because the target would be out of melee range.

I don’t use it at all. Since the pistol whip nerf I adjusted my build to a Dual dagger & Pistol/Dagger condition build. I use a combination of caltrops, death blossom, vital shot and sneak attack.

I’ve also had a huge reduction in FPS and Intermittent crashing since the patch just before Halloween and all patches since. 2 or 3 weeks ago I was getting 50-60 fps at max settings even under high load in WvW, tonight my fps is lucky to be over 20fps in Wayfarer Foothills, with medium settings and hardly any animation traffic at all. Something is definitely wrong.

If the Thief gets nerfed anymore I’m playing a warrior. At least warriors don’t get nerfed.
You reduced Assassins Signet, maybe fix the CnD precast before going all out with the -15% backstab damage we all know is coming.

Note: I don’t play a glass cannon, a backstab nerf will just make it useless for non-gc builds.

I guess it’s a matter of people adjusting their view to the WvW match in general. I much prefer being on the losing side of a battle because there is always something to do, as opposed to being on the winning side with nobody to kill and nothing to cap

I can only speak for myself here but creating an Oceanic or Asian bracket wouldn’t coerce me to move from my US server. I don’t have an issue with non-english speaking players either, I would welcome the chance to practice my German and French if we had them here. I haven’t spoken either language in over 15 years.

Way off topic here but I would have been fine playing the thief if there was no stealth at all as long as combo fields like smoke granted some kind of miss chance for those attacking from outside the field. I always considered the thief to be different to the invisible assassin concept, my interpretation of the thief would have had no stealth, but more abilities to mitigate hit chances. Things like weakening attacks, caltrops, blinding powder, smoke fields and evasion should have been the emphasis of the class, with backstab and sneak attack being positional, not stealth abilities. I’ve never liked thieves or rogues using poison or invisibility, these things always seemed to be more assassin and illusionist in nature to me…

I have no problems with FS if it doesn’t turn into a spammable, I just want the pathing fixed. The pathing is the only issue imo

When your queues get to 5+ hours, then you can complain. Most of your so called “bandwagoners” came from a server that was destroyed by free transfers. We simply had to leave. Don’t blame us, blame free transfers.

Took me 3 hours and 50 minutes to get into WvW on Saturday. Anything over 1 hour is unplayable for anyone that has a life. How can people expect to make time to play a game, schedule half of their weekend, hovering over their PC for the queue to pop. You came here to escape 5 hour queues, but by doing so, gave us 3 hour queues. How can you not understand why people are getting annoyed? We do blame free transfers. Arena Nets will remain silent no doubt, they expect the community to fix it. Unfortunately the the bulk of the community cannot be trusted to fix it.

Don’t take this as a personal attack, I don’t blame those guilds that organised to come here, I don’t blame those of you that made a conscious decision for the good of your guild and the game as a whole. I blame the parasites that hang off those guilds, the ones with no identity that follow you like a fanclub, the bots, the lazy gamers looking for a free ride, that love to beat their chest and troll the losing side when you do all the work, the loan hackers that jump servers specifically to cause chaos.. They are the root of the problem.

I agree with Aaron. We went from having a queue of just over an hour to a queue of four hours this week thanks to all of our new transfers. I’d rather be back in Tier 5 with Darkhaven and the rest and our regular WvW crew.

This week will definitely be interesting and our original guilds may be in for a bit of a shock. I don’t consider this past week as a win, but more of a restructure. In hindsight I was honestly glad to have a break from the close matches we had in previous weeks. I just hope that the next few weeks are going to be a challenge, I love uphill battles and I am expecting at least one in the next fortnight.

I have no interest in how or why we won this week and I have no interest in the constant drama. I have a lot of respect for the teams that still got out there and fought against overwhelming odds, but I have none for those that just retreated to the forums to complain and flame us. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens when Darkhaven and Northern Shiverpeaks catch up to you.

I think the transfers are for the greater benefit of the game. The top tiers were obviously too crowded with 5 hour WvW queues. hopefully the transfers are going to spread out though.

Until SoR moves up and the mass transfers makes it the next Henge of Denravi. The new guilds that moved to SoR will again abandon SoR. Ask any mistress who becomes a wife. Eventually, the new wife will be again replaced with a new mistress.

It is just a matter of time.

And if that happens, I will still be on Sanctum of Rall. I might take a break from WvW for a week or two, but I’ll always be on Sanctum of Rall. It’s a game, a game that I spend a lot of time in, but it’s a game nonetheless. Every server picks up fair weather transfers when they win matches, sometimes they pick up good transfers when they win, sometimes they pick up good transfers regardless of the scoreboard or the rankings. Anyway, I’m sick of this debate, you can have your soapbox back chicken little.

but there are more smaller group objectives than “zerg” objectives. Lets dissect it:
Objectives that require large groups

  • Stonemist Castle
  • Keeps
  • Towers
  • Orbs

Objectives that can be done with small groups

  • Mercenary groups (Hylek, Ogres, Dredge, Quaggan)
  • Supply Camps
  • Dolyak Escorts
  • Dolyak Killing
  • Quaggan island for lightning
  • Sentries
  • Defending all of the above, including towers, keeps and stonemist

These are all WvW based objectives, I didn’t bother mentioning infestations, farming or skill points. There is plenty to do for small groups and you can also avoid zergs while doing them.

I would love to see each city have a mini-dungeon, Age of Conan had repeatable solo dungeons in the noble district which was fun. Something similar to that, like a dungeon x jumping puzzle x veteran mobs x traps, located in each capital city with it’s cultural theme that can scale from 1-10 players like a dynamic event would.

I’m still having fun. Because of WvW, I still haven’t gotten more than 53% map completion, I still haven’t even bothered with dungeons or sPvP. When everyone else runs out of themepark content WvW will still be kicking, it may lose those that only care about winning and never play when they lose, but the core Wuvvers that play for a good fight will always be there.

I would be happy with a trait that increases shortbow. There is an acrobatic trait that increases shortbow damage which would be perfect place for it as it requires 20 points invested into a defensive trait line, essentially making it a bad choice for glass cannon builds, but a good choice for keep defenders.

The best way to limit zergs is to increase the cap on AoE. That’s right ele’s A thief thinks you guys should hit more with AoE

At a glance I would say the AoE limit was put in place to avoid bomb groups that Daoc and War were renowned for. I just think 5 is too low.

I did read his whole post, thanks for making me read it again though. Friendly fire in any form added to a game post release is tacked on. The whole game would need to be rebalanced around it. How is activating friendly fire on AoE not tacked on?

I am a big fan of friendly fire as it adds a completely new layer to player awareness.
I do not think it can work in GW2 though. For friendly fire to work, the game must be built around it, it just wont work as a tacked-on feature.

Daboss, Nekky, I do think that the majority of our server are quite happy to have you and those ex-War/Daoc that came with you. Prior to launch when Fog told me that you were all going to Jade Quarry and not Sanctum of Rall, I was actually disappointed (Just ask Fog I’m sure he would remember). I do feel cheated of this week, but it’s just a game, and it’s a new game. Hopefully, we have many more years ahead of us, people will come and go, tempers may flare and subside but at the end of the day we’re going to jump into WvW and have fun. That’s all that matters to me.

We weren’t in the lead from day one. Well, we got smashed for the first 12-18 hours. I was only online Friday night from about 11:45pm till about 1:30am Saturday morning, hungover from drinking and WvW the night before. Yaks were leading by about 20k when I logged off at 1:30am. When I came back online at 11:45pm on Saturday night we were on our way to taking back our borderlands, with Miasmic, Alpacca and Myself commanding separate raids (IDK what happened on the other maps) and the score was flipped.

We recognize the hard work and long hours that all the native SoR members put into making the community special. People are on edge right now because SoR is entering into an era of unknown as far as community and competition and it’s human nature to fear the unknown. Friday will bring new blood to spill and i think we’ll be just fine.

To those that are with us now, you are certainly welcome here. I just don’t think we want or need anymore transfers after this week. I only pointed out the new servers incase more guilds were considering moving here. There are better alternatives that offer a new experience. Kaineng proved that new low tier servers can be just as much fun, hopefully these new servers will too.
