@2: Passive traits that carry a player and totally negate a source of damage is absurd.
@11: You really are able to dodge this spell with all that clutter? I don’t know anyone who can do this.
@18: Mass Invis is still a mechanic that shouldn’t exist in any serious PvP environment. There is absolutely no counter to it, if it’s placed well enough.
@14: Everyone allrdy knows that the servers of arena-net/nc-soft whatever, are pretty bad and produce after every patch heavy lags.

default key is: Escape. You can change that under “options” > “control options”

However, as this games has no castbars / bad animations / instant casts / no energy management with skill-spamming as a result, there is absolutely no sense behind it to fake ppl out. Also there is rarely a cancel needed.

I play warrior. I don’t have a single stun, nor do I have heavy sustain. I use banners and conditions. So explain to me again why if I use healing signet I should have it reduced because of these so called stuns and sustains that I have neither of?

I think the OP’s point is the passive play, which comes with the healing signet. You get heal while you don’t have to do anything for it. Overall the healing signet pretty much counters whole classes (especially elementalists), just by taking it. In every competitive game, that should be never the case. Atleast not unintended.

Well, to be fair, since it’s a regen over time kind of heal, it should easily be counterable by burst. However I’ve yet to see a sustain warrior be burst down with all those toughness and HP. O___O

But that’s just me.

however, this kind of passive play doesn’t create a large skill-ceiling and that’s the main-issue with it. As a sidenote: the regen is absurd which lets the warrior sustain easily against eles (especially with shield, whirlwind, stuns and stances).

I never understood why they added a new condition. It was in no way necessary nor brought more depth to the game. It didn’t even affect the balance situation. No player will see torment in his bar and thinks: " holy kitten, I shouldn’t move". Torment doesn’t make sense at all because it doesn’t promote tactical awareness of the affected player.

we give you constructive feedback since 12 months. In this period we gave you several possible solutions for every issue that this game still has. I would say about 1% of it was actually worked on. Besides that, helseth mentioned and explained the issues. So there is enough things you could work on. Spamming the forums is a bad excuse for incapability.

The PvP-Community which invested so much time into this game is just frustrated in which pace the issues getting fixed. Especially stuff that is in every other game allrdy available at release (soloQ, leaderboards, different modes etc.). No wonder people are getting upset. But ye, it’s kinda pointless to write on this forum, as you ingore every critical / negative feedback.

….The mesmer and ele dps is way too high. Once you remove the sword thief (ele/mesmer cant win this) and necro/ranger dominance then you will have another broken and lame meta where mesmer and ele damage is way too high for all the extra things they can provide….

@Devs I highlighted the part that I feel you need to reconsider….you mentioned ele and mesmer are in a good spot once we tone down the condi damage which counters them so, however from our experience as a PvP Playerbase we know that the moment condi damage is reduced and the specs that counter these 2 professions get toned down these 2 professions of Mesmer and Ele will become the new brokenly OP profession in the meta because of their burst capabilities.

With all due respect, if you do intend to JUST nerf condi damage etc please be ready and I sincerely mean this, be ready to roll out quick fixes of tiny changes to mesmer and ele prior to the sept 17th patch, simple tweaks like this need to happen frequently in large disparity meta games. To give an example with the Elementalist. When specs that counter them get toned down they are now in a position to run their usual fresh air s/d or s/f burst builds, the issue with said burst setup majority of it is off the global cooldown so chainable quite quickly together, and above that the cooldown for fresh air and similar burst capabilities is quite low which I don’t have a problem with but its burst damage is too high for its low cooldown and off the global cooldown capabilities.

I hope you take this advice under consideration and if you don’t I would sincerely appreciate perhaps chatting to us on SOTG why you feel ele and mesmer’s burst isn’t too much given the apparent condi nerfs etc. Thank you for your time.

Good to see activity from the develpment here. But all these points you promise us, were allrdy promised months ago. Especially the reward-system, which in my opinion, completely harmed the PvP-Population.
Especially the GW1-Veteran players. After ONE WEEK of gameplay they all came up with the question: What can I achieve to set myself apart from others. Skill? no. Titles? no. Emotes? no. It’s not rocket-science to create some sort of a minor reward-system. Don’t tell me something different.

Well, the ele is one of the classes that actually have a “decent” skillfloor. A class that needs to be played intelligent. Ele has (besides of the Air-attunement and the arcane-utilities) pretty good animations, which can be, just by looking at which attunement the ele is on, predicted. This actually gives some room of counter-play. For an example, dodging updraftes / spikes or start to burst after he switched off from water-att. and so on. Also the ele has some sort of combos he rolls. It’s not only spamming buttons on cd. Burst-eles were a good mix of risk-reward play and needed besides timing a good awareness of the combat-situation.

All these things make the elementalist a class that is well fitted. The reason why many ppl have the impression this class needs a “fix” or an “update” is, that the meta nowadays is just a complete mess (described by you) and shows on how many areas this game has big issues (AoE, instant casts, animationproblems, AI, spam in general, passive traits/abilites and so on…).

However, the right way to fix is not to adapt a class to the rest of them, but to look at the game overall and see the problems on the core-mechanics. PPl need to get that!

You perfectly described unsatisfying and satisfying things in there. Not only you, but every player in this game struggles with these issues. It’s probably 99% of the playerbase, which feel the same way. The problem definitely not relies on you but on the game. I recommend you to either wait till A-Net starts to restructure this game (which is probably not the case and will never be) or jump to another game, which is actually designed for PvP (obviously GW2 is designed around PvE).

So if you search for a challenging game, which requires not only good team-synergy but skill and brain to play a class, then you’re better off with an alternative.

Agree with all, but the fact that teams build comps around classes in the actual meta. And that’s exactly the problem in this game. Classes/speccs are too independent from each other. Best example of this is the spirit ranger, warriors or necro. They don’t rely on each other. In the burst meta the comp actually was built around certain classes (moa-spike was a good example of it). This provided some great team-synergy, which is nowadays inexistent. The result of this is that the allrdy small skill-floor in this game went to zero.

Allie showed clearly how less of an idea they have actually about the game. A team that does balance in general and is not splitted into the 3 modes. I hope you get, that this won’t work. I mean we see your balance patches and there are a lot of so called “fails”, which could be avoided.
Necro was the best example. Players that actually had an idea about the class (A-Net definitely had not) asked for more defensive abilities, and your solution is insane damage through 2 more conditions via traits (sidenote: burning is the strongest condition in the game damagewise).

However, as you wish constructive feedback i’ll give you some. Split the balance teams, because PvE is in everyway different than PvP (warrior showed you that since release). Second point is to get some help and work together with the community more. With this I don’t mean the 99% garbage ppl who write BS in here everyday, just to get the impression of having an idea about the game. I mean ppl who actually invest time trying out every single aspect of the class. Grab them and get a second meaning.

What you did with the SOTG showed us how bad your concept is. You talk about balance and stuff in there and tell some “secrets” you plan to change in the future. When the patch finally arrives all things you promised are messed in a overpowered/underpowered way or never found its way into the game. What you come up with is a totally new package of balance we never heard about. The result of this surprise is huge rage in the forum.
The way how A-Net deals with players who bring critical feedback up? Ignorance.

You had 12 months of constructive feedback. Everyday a person brought up a good aspect to change the game positive. Don’t tell me, you still need feedback to change the elemental issues! Just silly…

maybe i misunderstood your posts as it “sounded” like you are lecturing people.. but however i ment no offense with my post. i just gave clear examples where your damage argument is clearly wrong and – as it is not the first time i correct you on some facts in this forum – i would like you to doublecheck what you are posting.

i appreciate your posts and even when i dont read every post from every thread i scroll through most threads and read posts from people that i feel have experience in the game and are able to make objective posts. you are one of them.

i understood your basic damage as autoattack damage. and even when you ment damagepotential of that weapon i would disagree. ask a mesmer how staff is dealing more damage than 1h sword; ask a thief if shortbow is dealing more damage (over time; without initiative) than cleaving with your sword.

yes you can argue with the bigger aoe effect of 2handed weapons, but in spvp the aoe of most 1handed weapons is enough. in most fights there arent 4+ targets at the same spot where you can get an advantage of having a 2hand sword as a warrior.

and on another page, not every 2handed weapon is aoe~

to sum it up: there are arguments for both opinions and i – personally – feel it would make some 2handed weapons more viable to give two sigils for 2handed weapons, but can understand when other people disagree.

Thank you for the feedback, sorry for missunderstanding it. I was again not detailed enough again -.-. Comparing damage is not the only thing that has to be considered. As stated above also other abilites like combo-fields, CC’s, Buffs etc. are having heavy influence on the strenght of a weapon.

You’re right, the staff of the mesmer is not AoE, nor good in damage-dealing. However, the abilites to port, to buff (chaos-armor) and to CC/buffing is the reason why this weapon was favored over others and is/was in every standard shatter-build.

This topic overall is very complex and could not be written down in 2 sentences as I’ve done it. It was only a little part of why A-net came to that conclusion. With throwing another aspect into the pool, I hope you can understand why I came to my opinion. Allthough I can understand your points.

Sigil of minor corruption+ any of sigil of condition extension+ coupled with traits that further extend condition damage+ runes amplify condition damage on necro staff= more powerful than guardian with sigil of force+sigil of bloodlust+traits that increase great sword damage by 5%+runes that increase power= some professions would greatly benefit over double sigil than others. Already we see poor profession representation..this would only carry ranged staff wielders/ rifle users/bow users further a head of the current disparity of ranged versus melee. Great sword users would always come off second best.

To some extent you’re right and I have to agree. But in general it’s pretty hard to compare overall skillz only in terms of damage. Other influences like CC’s, passive heals, buffs, combo-fields has also to be considered.

To the OP: Why you brought up that question? Are you feeling that it is unbalanced? (I’m just wondering)

Before all flaming me: Read my post first: I said basic-damage, I was not talking about effective damage. I wasn’t lecturing ppl either, but more what a same thread said some month ago (where even A-Net stated why). So calm down and stay on topic, thank you!

On traits: duel-wield is not available for every class or very limited. (Thief and Warrior are duel-wield classes) The rest is more or less 50/50 or restriced to the majority.

To counter your argument legi: it’s pretty one-sided. One handed-weapons are more about single-target, while two-handed weapons are favoring AoE. This is something you can’t compare with some maths on just one target. It’s not valid for general situations.
(hopefully I don’t get flamed for countering arguments)

Because the basic-damage of those weapons are higher + weapon-traits synergyize better with affecting 5 skillz instead of 3 or 2, which is mostly the case for one-handed weapons.

Even assuming that you are right (and I think you are not), it would be better to ballance those weapons on the damage-side, allowing the players more versatility on their builds.

What I said is fact, it’s not something we assume. Basic damage is higher (proof ingame or consult internet), Traits which boosts one-handed weapons mostly affecting 2-3 skillz (rare exceptions on dual-wield), while two-handed weapons are fully affected on all 5 skillz.
Lowering the basic-damage and add a second weapon sigil, could be fine. However, I think it is well balanced as it is right now.

…and as i said way before…why should someone run a condition mesmer if you can just bring a necro and spam aoe condis 24/7 with more survivability and effectiveness? Other classes can do far better than mesmer outside dps shatter…and dps shatter is useless atm…so…hotzerg, die or reroll…no other options aviable…

Because the condi mesmer has better survival outside conquest formats.

In case you haven’t come across PU mesmers in WvW winning 1v4’s. It’s an extremely potent attrition build. It just takes time that you don’t have in spvp, and the mobility/stealth of the build is not helpful when you need to stand in a point or kill people quickly to reclaim that point.

The problem is how the conquest format emphasizes the strengths of some classes and builds while leaving others out in the cold.

A format in which holding points is key, and to do so you need to stand on them, and aoe skills have the very same ratio or bigger of that point you need to stand on, that’s a problem. Because you’re forcing people to eat skills that in places like WvW they wouldn’t eat as there’s nothing compelling them to clump up in tight quarters.

Guardians also complain about condis in spvp because unlike wvw you have no 2-3 staff eles laying down healing rains while you run 6-7 guardians with shout condi removal and lemongrass food/melandru rune reducing condition uptime to sub 30%.

The format really dictates what is valuable. It’s not the build itself inherently that’s broken.

I also think that their design for the condition mesmer also had him spreading boons with the staff. So it’s more of a supportive shutdown conditions build but it just doesn’t do it effectively because the only conditions it has access to are damaging conditions.

The necro is supposed to be the master of conditions, the class whose offense comes mostly from conditions at the expense of lack of boons and mobility and burst (which was made pointless by terror fear chains).

But the condi mesmer was never defined. All that was said about mesmers is that they rely on their illusions, but the clones themselves are pretty lackluster outside shatter builds and phantasms are mostly single target and thus useless in teamfights. And clones have no survivability in team fights.

You pretty much have to trait your clones for on death traits to get some use out of them in team fights.

So first you say condition mesmer is viable, then talking about WvW (wtf?!) and in the last part you argument condition mesmer is not viable due to conquest. Rather confusing dude.

Anti-power guardian? The necro will eat him for breakfast. Anti-condition guardian? The necro will most likely suicide against the retaliation.
But the ele I do see most often falling to the necro, because the ele bunker is a condition damage build, and condition necros laugh at those.

Anti condition guardian?`You mean a shout-guardian? ye, like the retaliation will kill him with 25k life and 20k in DS. Bunker-guards are absolute monsters. They hit you with 150 autohits. Really hard to keep up with the 1.5k fear-hits and covered burning.
