Don’t know why the quote option wasn’t up so I had to copy and paste this. Just a friendly reminder, I know most of us and your guys know which RE you’re talking about but when it comes to a TC an DB matchup would it be too much trouble to add [RE] Red, or [RE] Reth, to give a better picture of which RE you’re talking about? Not everyone knows the deal there some may think you’re talking about the wrong one.

DB RE has merged into another guild.
So it shouldn’t be much of an issue anymore except when we’re talking about the past.

To handle Lani all you need to do is roll up any magazine (newspaper for substitution) and just give her a good smack on the nose and she will behave

I think it depends how you’re using the rest of your build.
Diversion is only one of an obscene amount of ways that Mesmers can trigger interrupts,

If you were not using a shatter build, I would think it more comparable to extra 20% mind wrack damage.
But as a shatter build, extra damage on mind wrack will likely outshine what you do with halting strikes (Also considering Mind Wrack damage is aoe and halting strikes will only ever trigger on single targets).

The way I regard halting strikes right now: Is it’s a good, viable way to play an interrupt build in wvw as part of a group and still tag enemies. These builds will do you no good roaming, but some good coordination and a skilled mesmer playing one can make them really useful in groups.
But if the intent of your build is actually to do damage (especially with shatters), I would probably choose something else.

I just want everyone to know that it was broken and therefore the JP should be considered open season again.

I went there today peacefully and was attacked. Not QQing, it’s part of the game, BUT nobody should be allowed to attack when they have the advantage and cry truce when they don’t.

It could be that I was misinformed. Or it could be that people were just hopeful who told me (it was a map chat thing). I’m not a commander, so I’m not privy to the meetings (are there meetings?)

Anyway, no slight on DB intended (as I said above). I wouldn’t have surprised me if TC started it.

My guess is that people were hopeful to at least mitigate some of the damage by getting however many people they could to agree to a truce.

The problem, of course, is that truces or ceasefires are completely pointless unless they are universally accepted.

I am easily satisfied with the two weapons as they are now.

Torch gets kitten on all the time,
But The Prestige is an insanely useful skill that gets overlooked just because the phantasm is subpar (Shatter fodder for me anyway.). Target drops (stealth) are invaluable to a profession who gets locked onto so people can keep track of the real mesmer easiest.

Scepter is a little underrated too.
Confusing Images, for example, might be a really kittenty way to either deal damage or inflict confusion, but it is a fantastic way to make the person you target waste both of their dodges. I’ve never fought anyone that just sat there and ate confusing images instead of blowing their endurance so I could burst them to my full potential.

What is being talked about is when you (TC) set up an AC (next to the wall at Hills) to take out the Trebb (that trebbs SE tower) and hit the ACs that are guarding the south gate of hills. That AC should barely be able to take out the trebb, not the AC’s that are directly on the other side of the wall.

Eyefinity/windowed mode will allow you see around the ledge. I can’t believe we’re still discussing this.

You haven’t noticed the pattern yet? Every server below whatusedtobe tier 2 spits out one of the following excuses for every battle or piece of territory lost:
-Zoomhacks
-Nightcapping
-Skillless zergs

Nothing is ever lost because they were outplayed or out tactic-ed. Only unfair play.

Another reason I liked the stable FA/TC/DB matches more than these new matchups. I got enough of these excuses while DB was actually in tier 5.

Addendum: Whatusedtobe Tier 2 and up servers still spit out plenty of excuses. Double teaming is a popular one. But it is nice to face playerbases that don’t resort to “Zoomhack!” everytime they see an arrow cart placement they weren’t smart enough to think of themselves.

It’s tiny as all kitten,
But it’s been largely the most respectful matchup thread DB has had in ages.

I’ve always liked Crystal Desert (as I said somewhere earlier in this thread, when I was considering transferring servers last year CD would have been my first choice. I would guest there if I actually knew anyone on the server), so I’m really pleased to see class from you guys on the forums

I hope you guys get the coverage back you used to have and we can face each other on a more even playing field next time. (Or hell, I’d still like the match if we lost the coverage to make it even)

I like doing a lot of dueling too,
With that said,
My top priority in WvW is generally to WvW (While roaming).

If I’m on my way to defend something, or attack something, or lend my hand to a battle, it’s going to take precedence over a duel.

But I spend a lot of my time shoring up the defenses in DB BL right after our SEA crew goes to bed, which generally leaves me a lot of time for dueling.

This kind of implementation would make Guild Wars 2 leagues more fun for me.

I support it 100%,
And I say that, knowing that it will never come to fruition.
The amount of development resources that would go into making this happen is not going to be devoted to WvW for a long time.

I would also love to see WvW specific servers (Perhaps have those servers in a separate league from the PvE servers, and that would be a clear way to have those who play WvW casually on the PvE servers and those who play WvW dedicated on the WvW servers.)

Any implementation of this, though, is going to lead to so much QQ that I don’t see it happening.

I’ve played with mes might stacking a few times. Here’s my input:

Pickup the extra bounce trait. Mirror blade is your single best source of might, aside maybe from sigils of battle. Staff and GS actually synergize well together, and it will help both weaps.

Bountiful Interruption gives 5 stacks, but only 10sec duration. Not saying it isn’t worth taking, but I wish it were 2-3 stacks for 20sec. I feel like I have to work to make this trait work for me. Would rather have the staff cd’s if I have to choose.

Try using signet of inspiration…. It’s pretty fun dropping aoe ret and might stacks on your team.

While yes, it’s hard to maintain 25 stacks far an entire fight,
I usually time it for before my burst, if I can.

Chaos Storm and Counter Blade are fantastic sources of multi-target interrupts that, if aimed properly, can sit me at 20-25 stacks of Might on their own without having to pop any of my DPS skills or make any clones.

EDIT: I should clarify that I very much agree that Mirror Blade is a fantastic source of Might. But I dropped using the Greatsword some time ago because I find it loses viability in group battles. It’s still good, but the Staff gets far more useful against 5 opponents than it is against 1.

The greatsword is my single favourite weapon to use in 1v1s (Which is also the only time you can reliably get Might from Mirror Blade) though, it’s intensely gratifying.

Also, the above is from a WvW perspective. I take my Greatsword everytime I step into PvE.

How often do you see uplevels roaming solo? Maybe I’m just unlucky. Anyway, though I lose 1v1s, I still try to fight them. I could have run into SM during that duo thief fight, but it was more fun to troll them even though it cost me 1.5 silver.

I’m not suggesting you run, don’t worry.
I’ve broken plenty of armor just to stall a group of invaders from reaching their destination on many occasions.

There aren’t many uplevels roaming,

The only reason I doubt you had 50 people in the JP is because, from what I hear from your server and others at similar ranking we’ve fought since the random matchups, even putting together a 50 person zerg on the actual battlefield is an accomplishment. So it’s unlikely that you pulled it off in the JP. (I hope this doesn’t read as snarky; it’s not.)

There aren’t /that/ many people to grief. It’s usually the same dozen or so people that try to run it like 10 times before they give up. A 50 person zerg would be mindlessly bored if they were camping the JP.

I switched one trait out of my 0/20/20/0/30 Shatter build from Staff CD to Bountiful Interruptions and it was one of the best ideas I’ve had.
25 stacks of Might is easier to achieve now than it was back during that little while that Shattered Strength gave 3 stacks of Might per illusion shattered.

Even without Mirror Blade helping out, that’s just from shatters and interrupts

This is the only map in the game where you can actually properly grief someone. You shouldn’t get free siege and you shouldn’t get free badges. If neither of those things are your motivation for doing the jumping puzzle, then there are literally dozens of PvE jumping puzzles to partake in.

What will the next demand be?
PvP should only be enabled in WvW inside camp, tower and keep boundaries so PVEers can get their skill points in peace?

Sorry but the more “skilled” players actually avoided that mentality. It’s very tempting to rupt a long cast time meteor shower, yeah. But wouldn’t you rather interrupt that Healing Rain?

You also have to remember, you can’t just keep interrupting one target, that would be just trolling. Its much better to spread and control the interrupts to gain a better advantage.

I’m not saying I agree with the OP (I have memorized most of the animations already anyway…) but that kind of mentality of “cast bar!!! INTERRUPT!!!” is more trolling than anything really

In case you misinterpreted something, I said I don’t like that playstyle or mentality.

I can interrupt when it’s necessary with or without the cast bar to watch,
Most of a classes skills that you actually want to interrupt are fairly well telegraphed (Like heals, they’re fairly easy to pick out of a rotation most of the time.)

The thing is if you are running with a guild / organized group they should not be stoping for 2-4 sec during a fight to revive a person through a skill / manually. If my guild has the organization to not lose a single person and 5 people we downed rally off a pug we have no control over that punishes us.

If you consider the PUGs to be so far beneath you that you won’t even res them, then you’re going to have to expect that the enemy that knows how to play as a team (With everyone on their server, not just their own guild) is going to rally.

That is a choice you made in your playstyle that will not benefit you in those situations.
