I like to give the opponents fights where they want them.

With Maguuma,
It means to fight on the forums,
And never run from 1v1 combat.

NNK, please stop abusing dragons tooth. Several times this evening you have abused a glitch and attacked siege behind a gate. I am assuming this was an NNK zerg with no officers/commanders… because I find it hard to believe a “respectful” guild would allow glitch abuse in their guild.

So like, obviously targetting siege they can’t see or bad siege placement or what? Screenshots or something would be really helpful. Sounds like they are just good at using a targeted AoE without some kind of proof my friend. Not yelling “lies!” or anything, just curious if you have some screens

As someone who remembers when Phantasms could be cast without LoS,
I cannot fully express to you how easy it is to destroy siege (And players) inside their tower walls with skills like these. All you need is to be able to target it once, lock the target, and have fun.

With that said,
Anet left Dragon Tooth untouched as far as LoS goes when they stripped it from Phantasms. The skill is working as intended until patched otherwise, and claiming it’s a glitch is a bit ridiculous.

Thief was made to be bursty, and has been stated. If you don’t like having been essentially 1 shotted, I suggest you look to your gear and apply some more toughness and vitality. Too many people going into WvW with their full zerker setup they use in PvE and expecting to roll people the same way as NPCs.

Please be more mindful of your posts like this.

The point is they have the BURST and the MITIGATION… Not sure there’s any other class that has it in such abundance as a theif. Plus they are just plain unfun to play OR play against.

I consider thieves to be one of the more fun classes to play against, actually.
The GC thieves I can melt as fast as any other class,
The actually good thieves, you can have some really fun battles with. You just have to be willing to adapt to a little more than spamming your normal attack rotations all the time.

For people who like matchups that are closer to even, the old system was best. For people who like to see new faces, and have a chance to get out of an ongoing losing streak, the new system is better. Another benefit with the new system seems to be that the anti-DB sentiment seems to be going down. We even have some TC folks rooting us on! I like the perceived improvement to overall sportsmanship.

But after a few weeks of this kind of volatility, the thrill of seeing “new” servers to fight will be gone.
We’re having our week with JQ and BG now, I won’t be as excited to fight them next time.

After we have a match with SoR, we will have fought every server that we have any chance of being matched with. I believe many people will realize how boring blowout matches can be, on both sides, and start crying for balance again.

It shouldn’t be a great treat to get randomly matched up with servers that will actually have a competitive match.

Let me explain it.

There are two bad things that can happen in WvW matches (That are relevant to this),
You can have stagnant matches, or you can have wild blowout matches.

Personally,
I prefer stagnancy and balance versus volatility and blowouts.
The FA/TC/DB matches were where we belonged, and I’d rather that match went on for a few more weeks than us be in tier 1 (I know tiers don’t exist anymore; the result is the same though). JQ and BG might be fun to learn some new things from, but as far as competitive WvWing goes, we have no business fighting them.

I think this new system is the farce, honestly. So I’ve turned off the, already small, part of me that ever cared about the total scores and now I’m just looking for good fights in wvw. But any actually competitive “I want to win this week” drive I used to have is gone with this new system.
Unless of course we happen to get that lucky roll and actually fight servers we should be fighting.

Ammendment: Also, contrarily, I consider DB to be the perfect example of why the old system was better.
If we fight any servers below what used to be tier 2 (IE: Ranked lower than FA/TC), we get insane blowout matches that aren’t worth even logging on for outside of NA primetime when the PPT balanced out JUST A LITTLE. Though I rarely play during NA primetime.
If we fight any servers above what used to be tier 2, we get our kitten handed to us.
DB has only one competitive match it can be in, and it’s unlikely we will ever get that match again.

Ammendment 2 (Hours later): I could have done with a few tweaks to glicko, I just don’t like the volatility that RNG has introduced. Being able to move between tiers in a reasonable amount of time would have been good, and still made you feel like you accomplished something when you moved up to face new servers.

I’ve been having a great time this week, and have put more hours into wvw than I have in months now.

We’re doing about exactly as well as I expected we’d do against JQ and BG.
But there are fights happening everywhere, and I can weave between roaming, small group combat and zerg warfare anytime I want.

I really wish people from DB would quit doing this on the forums. All this flaming all it does is really makes the server as a whole look bad. I respect our opponents whether we are winning by 10k or 300k.

We have plenty of respect for our opponents. Maguuma just gets different responses from many of us than most servers do. We have spent a lot of time together, and frankly the whole “Good game, good tactics, Maguuma are awesome opponentents” shtick is wasted on most of them.

Like 90% of Maguuma’s game is forum wars, so why shouldn’t we give them battles on the only front they’re good at? ;D

I was gonna come on and post a thanx to the DB party that battled us SBI’er on DB BL’s last night, on the bridge between Redlake and Hill’s for a good two hours. Was having good times with the back and forth but then DB pulled a DB move and brought 50+ to try and spawn camp us, which was lulz. The first try ended up with a good amount of you getting you’re kittens narfed by the legendaries and the next 4 times you tried ended up with us repeatedly wiping you back into your little tower. Our Pug hand is strong on SBI.

At least you didn’t put up 10+ pieces of siege to spam camp like you did in EB, though seeing what happened in DB BL, I get why you thought they were needed :P. Appreciate the great back and forth we had at hills bridge with our 10-15 for the extended period of time but could do without the spawn camping.

Here’s the thing.
First off, every server has spawncampers.

Even if you put on a Commander tag and yell at everyone spawncamping, your server still has spawncampers. So I’m gonna glaze past those comments without any more reply, as it’s foolish to do so.

As far as the “Pulled a DB Move” comment goes.
When we’re ticking +600 and more, that means there is an entire server of people looking for action that they aren’t getting.
That back and forth battle you had was probably the only real battle going on in all four maps; of course people are gonna show up as soon as they hear about it. You would have done the same.

Roaming is fun when you go into enemy territory, which barely exists this week.
I’ve started taking the “If you want small-scale combat go sPvP” advice that kittenbags have been giving on the forums since launch. It immediately solved all my frustrations about not being able to find fights some days in WvW.

Wtf drama necromancy. [Bp] didn’t want to gvg, they wanted to rofflestomp suckers that would accept a gvg from them. So for a 25v25 they rolled in with 200 guys. They sent 35+ guys on first rush before the actual fight start time ( which was regulated by server time, since we’re all synched to it), removed all the stacks , killed spectators…

AND YET we gave them the benefit of the doubt. And then they pull the same kitten, going in advance of the agreed time, with more people than the matchup was supposed to be. They also had the video all ready and edited before the night was over. Notice how the comments got disabled when commenters started calling them out on their bullkitten, or like that time some guy in their own gchat was going all “lol that was more than 25”.

All [bp] proved on that day is that their word is not to be trusted, and that yes, they DO need more people to do anything. On top of acting like punks.

DB is not a bad community – if you don’t go in there pretending you own the place the day you transfer. The true heart is within their natives, and to come into the community that they built and pretend that you can turn it into something other than that, will definitely build a rift between the guilds old and new. If you go in without a chip on your shoulder and work WITH the guilds – you will have nothing but a good time.

Yea I used to be on Dragonbrand – My reasons for leaving our my own, and have nothing to do with any sort of ‘Drama’ or being dissed by anyone.

I stand by what I say – old school DB is a great and friendly community, and if you don’t come in with the assumption that your transfer in is going to make you the ‘big man on campus’ then you’ll fit in fine. If you do? Well – you’ll be eaten alive.

2v1 DB all week. I’m sure DB wouldn’t be kitten y about it, its already a cakewalk for them I’m sure they are gonna get bored with the lack of challenge. 2v1 against DB would be the only way for all of us to have any fun in this matchup this week.

I would encourage 2v1ing against us for exactly this reason.
Make the best out of a bad situation and try to learn some new tactics to take forward.

The trick is quitting the forum.

Things are much more pleasant in game.

That is the trick, isn’t it. I like being engaged with the community, but I’m starting to see how miguided that is.

I stay on the forums because they don’t bother me.

In a game, with a medium like this. There will always be people to complain about any change.
Even if it directly contradicts what the cries were for the week before.

Sometimes I just stay inside the WvW matchup thread.

I’m actually considering quitting the game due to players’ incessant whinning. I’m getting too old for that garbage.

The trick is quitting the forum.

Things are much more pleasant in game.

I know we are opponents, and likely to be your biggest headaches this week.

But I assure you,
SBI will have a better time fighting as hard as they can, paying attention to what DB and Maguuma are doing, and learn some new tricks to take into future matches.

I don’t think DB and SBI have been in a match together in quite some time, I will certainly be paying attention to what SBI is doing.

I’m not 100% sure on this,
But have we (DB) ever fought SBI before?

Or at least recently enough to matter?

It is nice to see a new server in the mix.

People have been crying for more volatile matches since October because of things being “stale”.

We’ll get more volatile matches for probably two weeks before everyone complains that every match is a steamroll.

And you think posting a thread for moderators to lock and hide forever is going to get you better results than emailing their customer service directly…?

Experienced commanders don’t hold any extra authority on a server than noob commanders. It will only lead to frustration to believe anything differently.

It is unfortunate, but it is a reality. The best you can do is hope that the pugs know enough to follow the more experienced commanders.

I can also tell you that only a certain amount of dedicated WvWers save their badges.
I certainly have not. I wouldn’t want to lose my Commander title in WvW just because I didn’t go full hoarder on badges of honour since launch.

We can hate on each other all we want, but this is a good tier.

But it’s a good hate, just like hot sauce. Sorta like tastes like burning versus a burning taste. One is kinda good, one is kinda bad, but it’s kinda okay some of the time.

Sriracha is good, but Tabasco will always be in my heart. After passing through my stomach and hopefully not my intestines. Details, bwhaaa.

Oh, the hate should definitely continue.
I wouldn’t make any serious effort to permanently stop that, even if I wanted to.

Like 90% of the fun I have on the internet is fueled by hate in one way or another.
