i was kinda perplexed when i tried inviting someone to a group last night. i right clicked on their name but there was no such option and i had to type their name into the group icon.

great idea! would love to see this implemented.

i was reading wiki articles the other day about the races, events and such and wondered – are the books worth buying? in terms of both info regarding the game (lore) and writing quality (do they make a good read)?

so some people like to farm. what’s wrong with that? if you want, just get a group and complete the event.

out of the three – the thief is my favourite. i really like this class, although for me it is the most difficult one. i also have an elementalist and in terms of survivability, he does better.

I’d like to see some half-breeds like human-charr, or human-norn. After all, the species are in the game as ‘races’, rather than ‘species’ so interbreeding may be possible. Except for the Sylvari of course.

Yeah, I’d like to see a Human trying to chat up a Charr chick (:P). And the some kind of Asura paramedic golem would pop-up to sweep his remains.

First on the list – Tengu and Kodan.
After that – maybe Largo.

I would also like Quaggen, but I think the player is too involved with them via PS for them to become a playable race with a new experience.

You forget that gold:gem fluctuate. Let’s say it’s $16 a month (to make things easier). That’s 1600 gems or ~160g. But you take gems out and maybe next month the ratio would double so you’d have to have 320g for the conversion this time

No. You’re trying to have a “VIP” account like LotRO has which is awful and does nothing but creating 2 tiers of players.

The current method is much much better. The minute you create these tiers of “VIP” and “Common” players you are preventing some players to access some parts of the game.

It starts there and before you know it only VIP can play unlimited time in WvW and so forth. And why not? The “VIP” are paying customers. How about they get insta 100% luck for them? And better loot tables to begin with?

And even if you limit the “VIP” accounts to certain perks, that will cause antagonism between players.
Anyway, why be “committed” to play for a month because you paid the $15, instead of buying a one time/two weeks access to services)?

This is a concern of mine too. I feel there are a lot of aspects of the game that I simply know nothing about. Only this week I began playing with the mystic forge (throwing couple of greens and getting a rare after couple of tries :P) but still…

Most of the things I miss involve crafting (ascended? Clovers?) or tokens to get crafting mats/armour/gear, or some of the “high end” dungeons like fractals (which I only started this week). Try and read the wiki when you have a chance, though sometimes you get dumbfound by all the info and all the processing you need to do in order to obtain a legendary weapon.

happened to me too. the hammer just went “poof”. we tried wiping and rez’ing at checkpoint but it didn’t solve the problem.

Prices of low-tiered stuff are also (relatively) high. For a new player 1s30c for small/tiny scale is a lot especially when considering how much you need of that.

Btw, there are PACT submarines and tanks. A tank could be ground mount and submarine is for diving. Could be fun using their weapons (and fun if not)

My main is a Charr. I chose them because of their story which I find more interesting than other races’.

The characters themselves have issues (clipping, and I swear they are the slowest runners in Tyria).

But how could you make so much humans? I made one of each race for the story. I know there are couple of options for each race (human get a bit different depends if you go noble, commoner or poor).

I’m looking for more races to be added to I can make an engineer and a necro, and another Charr whatever (blood legion this time :P )

Hard to say. I made couple of alts just for kicks, but the professions were so good and their play-style was fun – so Im actually playing them.

These are my favorite:
Guardians are really fun to play. I like the whole heavy healer kinda thing.

Warriors are fun too – you can start with massive ranged dps and then jump on your tarted just to make sure their face ploughs throw the ground.

Next are thieves which are very difficult to play (for me at least) but jumping over an enemy to stab them is awesome

Next is an elementalist which is fun, but I play it less then the others. Somehow it just doesn’t have that “flare” the other have.

Engineer – good idea, in practice not so much. Deleted him and made a Mesmer.

Mesmers are awesome with their unique mechanics and all. You can pull quite the feat when playing them.

So from best to worst (keep in mind I haven’t played hunter or necromancer):

Mesmer/thief
Warrior/guardian
Elementalist

I’m thinking on getting another slot for either a hunter or necromancer. The others I can’t delete because I actually play them. This is the first mmo that I created alts that I want to play with through the game, and not just “maybe get to lvl cap” or testing class mechanics.

Oh yeas! I support this idea. My Charr needs a nice 2h and an axe would really fit him.

You need to open the chest while the drop exists – meaning you have just two weeks to do so. You have a week and a bit left

I have tried the true and tested method of “buy nothing until at lvl cap” and “sell everything you can”.

So those tips + gathering (which I did ) netted me only 28G. Sure, materials I needed for my own crafting I didn’t sell, but I feel it’s going to take me a long time to be a true gold hoarder :P
So any tips for a new guy? Something the Black lion chest gives nice stuff that I can make a “huge” profit (omg omg omg I can sell this for 40S coins!!!!11111) but that’s not really a way to get there.

I’m not looking to “grey marked” or anything just the legit methods (again, new so not very familiar). Are there instances that reward you with gold or such other events? Are there daily quests you can repeatedly do and get like 50S or 1G for them?

I have an armour smith, weapon smith, hunter, artificiar and Jeweler. Granted, each would need different amounts but I was wondering if there’s a table to show how much of every crafting material you’d need. I want to start crafting on my 80 main, but wouldn’t want to get stuck midway through (unless it’s for the super rare material).

There are already good guides on how to get to 500, but they forget to say how many of this and that you’d need to get each crafting tier.

I checked the gem store to see if there was a promotion on keys like they had 2 weeks ago (iirc) but no, keys are at regular prices (125/1 or 5/500).

Got a ton of chests (and they go for 3-5 copper, so that’s not an issue) but considering the amount of keys you’d probably need makes the whole thing kinda… meh. At least for me.

On a side note, some chests would give you other useful items that are less rare, but still at the current price keys are… Sure, you can get 15 for 1000 gems from the zephyrite pack but that’s just a one time thing.

They are worth it because of the convenience factor, not because of “how fast you can break even”. I’m only sorry I missed the logging and mining tool.

I would also like an improved salvage-o-matic (something better than the basic kit. Maybe journeyman?).

Ignoring the facts mounts will never ever happen because it is in fact impossible.

Mounts impossible? The cosmetic side already exists (brooms, and to some extend the sonic blaster) and the buff side already exists. Now as Joey Tribbiani would say: “put your hands together”.

My Mesmer alt has greatsword / scepter+pistol. The pistol gives you a phantasm(?) that blasts guns into an enemy and the scepter lets you create illusions non stop.

I was wondering – I missed the entire first season (my story journal starts with gates of magumma). Will I be able to play it, or is it “lost” for me? It’d be a real shame to miss the whole Lion’s Arch invasion stuff.

Playing a Charr warrior, movement can be annoying. Sometimes I just wanna yell at my character “GET A MOVE ON ALREADY” because he runs (if you can call it running) so slowly. I can trait for a speed buff when wielding a melee weapon, but that’s just a waste of a trait spot as I see it.

Oh, and also: kites as some form of flying (or gliding) mount could be nice :P

Been playing more and getting to understand the traits’ system.

As I see it, the idea behind doing something to get a trait isn’t bad. The problem is when you need to do stuff that isn’t solo-able. Sure, if you have a guild they can run you through it but if not you’re left at what chances you have for that event to be “up” and there are enough players in the area that want to do it.

Even bigger problem are the traits that require you to complet an instance. Again, with no guild you won’t be having an easy time getting it – especially not when you see tons of “5000AP lvl80” requirments at the PUG panel or worse – “xG per boss”. It’s ridiculous that to get an Adept trait you need to be at lvl cap with end-game equipment.

Furthermore, the silence from A.Net is… Well, bewildering, to say the least. After all, they (a representative anyway) started this thread for feedback, and given the amount of comments you’d think that some sort of replay was is order especially when so much players comment negetivley about the change.

On a plus side, I never played before the change, so at least I don’t miss how it was. Guess the joke’s on me :P

i have a 76 warrior and 38 guardian. i enjoy PVE content (dungeons, events, etc.) as well as WvW.

know what? scratch houses. i would gladly settle (ha!) for tents. something you “build” or “summon” or whatever, goes away when you log-off, comes again when you log in. disappears if you’re not inside for more than 15 seconds.

I too would like a mount (a doylak, perhaps? ) that has a movment buff, like +25% run speed. I know that there are buffs you can get from traits or skills, but for me it’s a pain – as a warrior I get a +speed buff when wielding a melee weapon – but it takes away a spot for an adept trait which I would rather equip with something else. So yeah, I think mounts have a place in GW2.

And why would having mounts mean you need to remove waypoints?

I would like to see player houses in the game. Not having a place to return to when I log out, or just handgin’ bothers me RP-wise.

That being said, making such a thing takes a lot of time and resources – you would need new items; maybe new profession; actually building the houses’ instance/server and so on. I don’t know where A.Net are in terms of developing the game. If it’s not something that’s already in from day 1, I just think it’d be too troublesome to implement.

i started playing couple of weeks ago. my problem with the trait system is the cost, if you buy them from a trainer. the coin price is ok (though being new, i have little of it) but whats bothers me is the skill-point cost.

i would also like to get more trait points, but i guess thats a game-mechanic issue.

with the few exception (the legion armour with the shield that has some sort of star in it) most armour on charr make them look like some sort of deformed cows :| its bad enough that they don’t stand upright – but adding a helmet to their “hunch” makes their head look like they have some sort of “alien” situation coming out of their stomachs :\

one way to solve this is to reduce their hunch a bit

the keys has nothing to do with it, you mean the boxes are a joke.

i don’t agree with you on this one. the boxes are good for what they are – a random prize. so yeah, you get the one-time-bank-access which i think is a bit of a stretch for a prize, but sometimes you get more useful stuff like WvWXP, or the royal thingy pass

me too! i got the robotic harvesting thing (the robot in a barrel) and I’m really bummed i didn’t get the logging thing that was advertised before that. and i want the pick to come back to the store

lol! I really like the Asura, I don’t think I ever laughed as much as I have playing an Asura character. They are my favorite race after Charr (with their sarcasm :P).
