could be a group working together.
also, inb4 conspiracy: anet bought tons of chests and destroyed them, before making them super rare to match the rare key drops.
have you bought your tinfoil hat from the gem store yet? :P
Can only speculate. If keys will be harder to farm, demand for the chest will drop somewhat, depending on how hard will it be.
You could see the current situation as an opportunity to dump extra chests you have lying around.
On a similar thread, somebody did the math and it could be just a really good flipper. After the price rose to ~40C, they would have easily made back the coin they paid and after that it’s pure profit.
Seeing as silver ore is dirt cheap, yes it would be better
erm… Have you thought about killing the mobs/breaking combat and then change axe? Or just use best axe for the area?
Making armour requires linen, so maybe salvaging heavy armour would have a chance of yielding some.
Maybe this has come up already: paying with karma? Maybe if a player is interested in gaining some karma for something they could list whatever-it-is and price it with karma points instead of coin (or both, of course).
I want a Dark Knight Quaggan.
And a Krait Joker!
Some very good ideas in this thread. I do think that the Shattere should be bumped to something like The Claw of Jurmag; not the same mechanics of course, but something more engaging than it is now.
GET YOUR TAGS NOW!
Will this mean we will see a onslaught of multi-colored Doritos running around? Will the collect pool of commander skill drop since almost anyone can buy this now?
As being a commander in WvW/EotM basically just means something visible on the map for the Zerg to follow, I’d say no.
This pick is a good example why gem items should NOT create trade able resources. It disrupts a player based market. It make the game look and behave like pay-to-win. It makes people feeling forced to spend money in order to “keep up”, thus gem purchases get associated with the feeling of annoyance. Its unique in the amount of hate the item got on the forum.
So next time Anet think it might be a good idea to have a gem item produce trade able resources, hopes goes that someone says No.
You can still buy it with gold, and in any case you don’t ah to buy it – you can always save the money (gold or cash) and just buy the sprockets you need. Worst case scenario, prices will go down a bit. So what? It’s a resource, just like any other. If it weren’t for pick, said prices would be sky-high. Anyway, as they seem inclined to introduce it again, it gives more people the chance to buy one.
I got the broom (I cannot explain why, but seeing a norn trying to stable themselves on one amuses me) but it’s kinda annoying going to inventory and clicking on it every time. Can’t it just be bound to some key?
Eric, Trust me I farmed 1000’s of ore, your jewel chance is the same, sprocket is just bonus. One time i remember 3x ore, 3x jewel (same one lol, what a coincidance) and 3x sprocket from one node. Anything is possible withing the statistical chance you have for each item.
I have a lot of playtime (more then you i think francois), but atm it yields 4-5g a day for me (about 100-120 sprockets) (wich means around 500-600 total node farms). That sould mean 30 days to pay itself atm or a bit longer.
The biggest rick tbh is that to much ppl jump on sprocket bandwagon (or demand diminishes), so that the current bonus is no longer profitable. But atm it’s still stable enough.
Thing is, I got more sprockets than what could be considered a bonus. This is totally subjective, of course, but I got some decent amounts of them.
As far as the “risk” goes, I don’t think that there will be a major impact on prices, as the sprockets still need to be farmed, so people would rather pay than do it themselves.
After seeing your message, I tried with 2 different picks. “Watchwork Mining Pick” and Molten Alliance Mining Pick. I tested both on a total of 200 nodes, 100 nodes per pick. With both I have not noticed a big difference, I earn less than a jewel by 2 nodes. I did get, however, a bit more with the Molten Alliance Mining Pick. But the difference is not great.
Interesting. Question is – are 200 nodes a big enough sample? I’m not sure, but I think so.
This leaves it to the player – would you rather getting some jewels and sprockets, or no sprockets but more jewels? I think if your a jeweler (as opposed to armoursmith, as an example) you’d need to put some thought here: are the so called “extra” jewels enough for you to sell and balance your buying of sprockets?
P.S: got 1 jewel now. Still way, way less from what I’m used to.

Didn’t notice any change in the amount of ore collected, or in the “bonus” ore – so from that angle everything’s OK.
I salvaged a couple rares last night and got no ecto, but I’m not going to claim that means anything.
I’m not pretending to have checked this on statistical level (meaning, i haven’t used a large enough sample); just that so far, and in contrast to what I’m used to, i didn’t get any jewels.
I don’t get gems often from mining, no matter what pick I use.
Still, I do still get them using the watchwork pick. Next time I get one, I will try to remember to screen shot it.
any confirmation (one way or the other) is much appreciated.
Maybe, but after mining several nodes I noticed I did not get any jewels at all, while got sprockets. Using a regular pick I usually get 1,2 jewels per 2 nodes but now – nothing. Just sprockets.
It seems that the sprockets are instead of jewels
quote is not 100% accurate.
what did you learn while playing GW2?
I learned that snakes need love too.
So Am I the only one who got the Frost Wasp because of the animation? :P
Finally some changed I’m excited about. Keep up the good work.
i am the hero Quaggan deserve, and the hero they need right now.
Today we got the logging tools (bough frost wasp ), and that was 3 days after the harvesting so I’m crossing fingers to see mining tools on Friday!
Not quite;
I think PVE in this game is much, much better than in others. The combo of “hearts” with events that pop up is great (IMO) and always adds to the experience of on area, and makes it viable to replay. Furthermore, the down-scaling allows you to enjoy tons of events regardless of level.
WvW – I quite like this game type, though I agree that more maps are needed, and a way to actually make it a war: have a “super commander” that stays in base to direct assaults with several units, each with its own commander. Give the SC some skills to call in back-up in a shape of a Grawl tribe storming to help and so on. Moveable siege engines you build in your base and take to assault the other team.
This game mode has such an incredible potential and it’s wasted.
And of course – loot and rewards.
You get a pitiful amount of Karma, and an even more pitiful amount of coin as a reward for completing a quest (1S and couple of C is ridiculous, especially for high level zones).
Dungeons – again, not really worth doing. Paths are ok, cause you can get tokens to barter for stuff, but other than that the loot is couple of greens (if you are lucky and didn’t end up with just blues) or rare if you’re super lucky – regardless to the level of difficulty! Rewards should be scaled per Dungeon’s difficulty, the lowest giving a green from each boss and blues from mobs; mid-tier greens and rares (from bosses); highest tier mix of greens and rares from mobs, exotic from bosses. And if there’s a “final boss” they should drop a more valuable item than the bosses you kill to get to him.
Overall, I think Anet has created an awesome game, which truly changed the way I look at MMORPG today. I also think that Anet does try to create things that players want/request only that it takes time and effort. I give ‘em credit that they’d deliver.
Just remember – a change that you want isn’t necessarily a change the community wants.
(edited by Eric.6109)
It should give +20 levels instead of a bump to level 20.
Hopefully it will be introduced as a gem store item instead of black lion chests.
I too am logging into the BLTC everyday to see if they have updated it with the inf. mining and logging tools. So far, only the sickle-type is available (already have it).
Before you go and spend 3000 gems, note that the 3 harvesting tools they added are just for plants (all of them). I hope to see the rest coming too.
So nothing to worry about, then. Thanks for the info!
Though I do want to know what was it about.
I got a PM from a moderator saying a message I posted was moved to said forum. The message also contained a link to a “how to report a bug” thread, but the link to the moved message was dead (404 error). How am I to post it again in a “constructive manner” if I don’t know watcha talkin’ about Willis?
The first character wasn’t near a bank or crafting station, so…
At least you can get foxfire from tree nodes. Ever tried farming tiny/small scales?
I don’t understand this silly restriction. I had some stuff I wanted to drop in the mystic forge, and as I had a character there I thought I’d just mail the stuff and save the trip – but I got an error message saying it couldn’t be done.
And also: allow mailing account-bound items like boosters too.
Tybalt staying behind to save everybody else. I know that the other orders’ mentors do so too, but none of them had an ounce of the character Tybalt had.
It’s a bit of a shame, really, that no other character in the story (IMHO) can be believable and almost human like he was.
After that was Tonn that captured me more with the story about him and his wife and of course – telling her of his fate.
(edited by Eric.6109)
Update: if your human has long hair, it clips through the neck piece: you hair goes down to it, then you have that neckpiece and than the remainder of your hair (it changes with angle).
So maybe not perfect, but I still like it.
if they really want more money, they should make the gem->gold exchange higher so ppl can buy gems with real money and get a real profit.
They did make the gem->gold exchange higher. If you haven’t notice, it keep rising.
But I understand what your trying to say, the 28% exchange difference does look like Anet are trying to rip people off.
But I think it is necessary evil. If there is no heavy tax, gem will become a commodity player try to control price, invest money, or flip.
I though that was part of it. A player controlled currency, meaning that players could speculate and what not
Ok, ok; so it’s not an armour it’s a skin. Still, it’s a very good one and I’d love to see more like it (Renaissance inspired) instead of atrocities like “aetherblade armour” and the likes.
In regard to clipping:
Sits well on human and norn.
Charr looks silly (like a cat in a funny costume) and the helmet (of course) is awful.
Haven’t checked on silvary or Asura, but all-in-all, I’m quite satisfied with it.
(edited by Eric.6109)
never thought i’d spend gems on skins, but the new ceremonial armour is actually very nice looking, in contrast to the others.
MOAR PLOX1111
As you probably got from the title, I’m looking to have every possible recipe for my professions. I’m not talking about stuff you discover, but rather recipes you need to get from karma merchant or vendors.
I already skimmed every “heart” karma merchant and got recipes from them.
I stumbled upon a merchant (a regular one) in Ebonhawk keep that sells recipe for iron legion’s helmet. Are there any other merchants like this?
Is there a list showing the recipes you can get from NPC merchant (karma, coin or whatever); or as loot from mobs?
BTW – where can I find recipes for blood&flame legion armour? and iron legion’s shoulder pads?
Hey,
So I got all the parts and even got them infused at their respective places. Thing is, I don’t want that back piece. Is there something else I can do with the parts (chaos orb, purified water and the rest)?
I feel ya’. Some of the quests in LS are really really frustrating when done solo. The finishing event of the 2nd part is even more so. I died so many times my armour was shot and I managed to get 1-3 hits before I was killed again. And on top of the tendrils you get all sorts of minions and you need to kill a dragon in the process.
The LS events need to scale based on how many are in the group that does them, much like world events.
I’m fashioning my Charr to look like one of the Iron Legion’s soldier and would love to have the possibility to have a shield as a back item. I know that if I equip a shield I basically get that effect – but then I have to give either my duel-wield set or GS/LB which I don’t want to.
Thanks for the answers
I noticed that if I go to the exchange part in BLTC, the ratios are strange.
You can exchange 100gems and get 8,5gold – but if you do it the other way ’round, you are looking at about 12-14gold to get 100gems.
Why is there such a discrepancy?
You have raised a very valid point. Doing big events and WvW where you have commanders to organize things is much more fun and usually more successful.
/sign
5 consecutive crashes and counting. all with the same error message about CharMatrix.
the game was fine until last night’s “patch”.
Got it, thanks!
It says in the update text: “Episode 4, “The Dragon’s Reach: Part 2,” will remain active until episode 5 is released, so you still have time to log in with a character and unlock this episode’s story content!”. So does it mean that when it’s released people who haven’t started/finished part 1 will no longer be able to play it?
they were online, not in a group. basically, all was that was needed is an easy to use invite option, which was not there
why isn’t there any good loot from bosses? the boxes they drop mostly contain junk, and the more often than not the loot is disproportional to the difficulty of said bosses.
i did AC story mode,p1,p1 & p3 – got a ton of blue items with no value, a few greens and thats it. the only rare item was from the chest you get (the one that pops on the bottom right side of the screen).
Arah dungeon – you’d think that the dungeon that wraps the PS would give an awesome reward at the end – nope. more blue items.
and what about CoE? the last boss isn’t the easiest one, and yet the loot you get from the 3 stages is worse than what you could’ve gotten if you were just killing mobs in <enter_zone_here>.
so come on – bump the reward from dungeon bosses and get rid of the coffers/boxes/backpacks they drop which have nothing valuable inside.
