What do you think happened to Razah from Guild Wars 1? Do you think he is in Elona still? Given his semi-demon state of being, he could be immortal. If he is still around do you think he is the reason why the order of whispers can easily transverse around both Palawa Joko and Kralkatorrik forces? We did get to see Ogden again. Of course I was a bit surprised not see a hidden reference to M.O.X. in GW2 yet. Also M.O.X. story-line was never fully fleshed out about involvement to stop some calculated assassination attempts in GW1. I don’t know there would be any relation 250 years latter unless time travel is involved.
We don’t really know. I think a developer mentioned somewhere that Razah won’t be making an appearance in GW2, but I don’t have the link handy and he may have only been implying that Razah wouldn’t be in the initial release. If we do ever see him again, my bet is it would be in an Elona GW:Beyond storyline in GW1 (if it ever happens)
The Eye of the North holds no resemblance whatsoever with ancient jotun structures.
It holds a stronger resemblance to the Tarnished Coast ruins, whose origins are – in my opinion – most likely ancient Orrian (though it could hold other origins, but I doubt seer or mursaat as most claim – too little evidence for such). There is evidence, however, that could indicate the seers were in the Far Shiverpeaks in the distant past – found in some of the dungeons are statues which highly resemble seers, imo at least.

Don’t forget that a lot of the more geometrical ruins in the Tarnished Coast could be remnants of a Mursaat civilization. We know that the Asurans established Rata Sum on the ruins of a previous civilization and that one of the reasons they chose the site was that its geometric features applied to them on an aesthetic level. “When the Great Destroyer drove them from their homes in the Depths of Tyria 250 years ago, they arrived at the ruins of some previous civilization, setting up geomystical generators for power within these already fortified confines and establishing the area as their new capital. The aesthetic sensibilities of these ruins are reflected in modern asuran architecture.” Combined with the fact that Rata Sum is an anagram of Mursaat and I think we can reasonably assume a pretty heavy Mursaat influence in the Tarnished Coast at one point in time.
Honestly the Colossus dungeon didn’t seem very Canthan to me…what it most reminded me of were the White Mantle + the northern parts of Kryta in GW1. The Diviners and Archdiviners have clothing that seem very similar to the White Mantle Ritualists(http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/White_Mantle_Ritualist). The cliffs remind me a lot of the Northern part of Kryta, especially the Divinity’s Coast mission and Watchtower Coast explorable zone. My bet is that we’re looking at something White Mantle/Mursaat related in the cliffside fractal

That’s a TOTAL increase of +5 power, + 5 precision, and +3% magic find. And it’s only available on two pieces. And they’re only going to be made available one slot at a time.
Take a deep breath, calm down. Your exotics are not worthless. Your exotics did not take all that much effort to get in the first place, and it won’t take much effort at all to get this new piece. And this new piece ONLY provides a meaningful upgrade if you plan on playing the HIGHEST END content of ONE dungeon.

O.o Have you noticed ANYTHING Anet’s done so far in GW1 or GW2? If they offer ANY sort of significant game advantage I can guarantee you they’ll take less than a week of casual gaming to obtain.
Stop judging Arenanet based on the standard set by other treadmill games when there’s no precedent for it and you have NO information on what Ascended gear will actually be.
Even if it has the same stats as exotic, but comes with an “infusion” slot, whatever that may be, it means exotic armor is obsolete, thus introducing mandatory gear grind.
Why do you think it’ll be a grind?!?!?! Even EXOTICS weren’t a grind. You could get a full set of exotics by doing 1-2 dungeons a day for a week! You guys are basing all this hysteria on ONE sentence in a MAGAZINE and your perceptions of treadmill games from the past.
Why don’t you WAIT to hear from Anet about the items and how they’re acquired. Right now we know NOTHING about how they’ll work or how they’ll acquired. Jeez, is EVERYONE on the forums a Chicken l\Little?

Sounds like Ascended gear is armor-only for now. Legendary/exotic wapons will probably still be best-of-the-best.
Also I don’t see Ascended gear being SIGNIFICANTLY better than exotics, and if they are they won’t be absurdly difficult to get. Arenanet has never been about gear gating: any incredibly difficult to get equipment will offer a very small benefit over very easily-obtainable gear.
Erm, why do you guys seem to think this is a grind-oriented game? I understand that in a subscription based game, it makes sense to have a lot of pointless grind and time-killing build in to make the players keep subscribing month after month. That sort of design technique doesn’t make sense in GW2. The design team’s greatest incentive is to make the game FUN so the player is more likely to spend more money on cosmetic items and content. Grind-based content actually works AGAINST Arenanet in a non-subsc game.
That being said, GW2 only becomes a grind if that’s how you choose to play. Going for a legendary ISN’T a grind if you don’t make it one: regular playthrough in WvW and flipping items on the trading post generates absurd amounts of karma/gold/achievments and they’re both FUN. If all oyu do is penitent/shelter farms of course you’re going to feel like the game is a grind and you’re being cheated by market fluctuations: you’ve chosen a BORING and INEFFICIENT way to play the game!

SF obviously can’t compete with EB or NSP, that’s why they’re constantly sitting in jump puzzles griefing people. Just let them get crushed so they drop down a tier. Putting them against better servers every week does nothing for anyone.
Screenshot Attached. Lately there’s been a real epidemic of bots in WvW. They’re jus a giant ball of rangers with harpoon guns and pets that form a tight ball underwater in WvW near one of the krait events. They target whatever is nearest them and nuke it while healing each other. Is there anything we can do to combat these botters besides killing/reporting them? I can’t even screenshot them to open tickets because their names are blocked in WvW. Hope Anet knows about this and will do something proactive to blow them up!

Heya all. I love my guild to death, but there’s one member who I just don’t get along with. To prevent myself and the rest of the guild headaches, I decided to just block said person. Unfortunately, since Halloween I’ve noticed that the block doesn’t prevent that person’s chat messages from showing up in guild chat. Is this intended? And is there anyway I can prevent seeing this person’s messages in guild chat (and vice versa) short of unrepresenting? Thanks
It’s only frustrating b/c o0f the number of people in the instance. Drop the instance size to 4-5 and it’ll be much more fun.

No but really there are the same people out in WvW on GoM since launch and its good times.
Also its not a huge influx of new players on GoM, we are just that good. hehe
Most of the new names are from the server and just new to WvW. The only place that transfers have filled in is off hours like late PST into morning EST.
Don’t forget about the GoM groups using noclip hacks to clear out garrisons at 4 AM EST every night. They have nothing to do with your success, nope.
The borderlands puzzle is indeed the bugged one.
Update: The gate is currently bugged for all three borderlands: Sorrow’s Furnace, Gate of Madness, and Ehmry Bay

Personally have both keys (from the same borderland area) and using F key won’t open the door. Mapping out, relogging, etc doesn’t fix problem. There’s about 10 people standing in front of the door right now because it won’t open for anyone. About to check if the other borderlands are bugged, can anyone else on other servers confirm if it’s happening there? Currently Sorrow’s Furnace is the red team (so we’re the Northern Borderlands).

Same here, I’m at university and (despite checking the “remember this network button”) I’ve started having to get email authentication EVERY time I log in for the last ~week. I’d like to either get the network remembering working properly or shut off the whole system >.>
Nevermind! Some googling solved the problem, apparently it was being caused by a piece of bloatware from Dell called Quickset stealing the focus whenever the Caps key was pressed. Uninstalling the program solved my problem!

Heya all. For the last 2 weeks or so hitting my caps lock key has caused my game client to minimize (in a similar manner to alt-tabbing). Any clue what could be causing this?

No, this is a mistaken mindset that has been there since WoW was pejoratively called World of Roguecraft.
There is a belief that a thief/rogue should explode any class in 1v1.
Play a thief, they’re PAPER THIN. Honestly, if you’re not playing a burster who sits on the sides of the fight until he can jump in→nuke someone→and get out you’re playing the class wrong. Thiefs can’t participate in regular pitched battles unless they play like this because splash damage alone wrecks them.

-This is the Mad Mardine Catapult bug. Essentially Mardine’s assistant Tigh Snatchskull is supposed to go to Dawnright Ranch and walk back with a bunch of cattle. The event then happens and you can interact with the cannon to get shot onto the vista at Moorwatch Tower. The quest is bugged currently so that Tigh just stands next to Mardine and doesn’t fetch the cattle. So the event gets stuck and the cannon remains unable to be interacted with.
-Sorrow’s Furnace (but occurring on many other worlds also)
Think you must be massively over-exaggerating things as the result of 1-2 frustrations…I’m at 75% world completion and so far I’ve only encountered one bug that prevented me from completing a piece of content (Mad Mardine’s Catapult to the vista in Moorwatch Tower in Diessa Plateau).
If you’re running into bugs preventing content, please describe each of them, individually, in detail along with methods for reproducing the bugs.
Trying to keep this on the front page…it’s affecting almost every server at this point.
Been bugged since Saturday morning on Sorrow’s Furnace
Heya. This pseudo-event keeps getting bugged preventing map completion for Diessa Plateau. Check out the screenshot below:
As you can see, Mad Mardine’s event has started…Tigh Snatchskull should be running over to the Dawnright Estate to grab the cows. But he’s stuck at the cannon and won’t move. This prevents the event from finishing which makes it so players can’t interact with the cannon. Once it gets stuck like this, the event stays bugged until the server resets which is massively frustrating because it means you can’t get the vista on top of Moorwatch Tower.
