Most bunkers should already be running CC. and bunkers have alot of access to stability and stun breaks. Not only that, but why is being built to kill players considered skilled? the point of the competitive play is to win. This map is all about positioning. If you are positioning well you will come out on top no matter what, it all comes down to not being familiar with the map yet.

Because knockback + fear are incredibly spammable and it doesn’t take a lot of skill to use them. Killing a talented player or bunkering a point against a good player is pretty kitten hard. Using a knockback/fear rotation rotation until someone reaches a ledge or immobilizing them on a glass platform is pretty easy, especially when you consider the ration of CC to stunbreak/condition removal.

Positioning isn’t “Hard” on this map either: You’re forced to either stand next to a wall and eat damage on tiny, cramped points until you blow up, or get CC’d off edges. That doesn’t take a lot of skill, to make that decision. It’s not fun, and it’s not competitive. Players asked for big, open cap points like Foefire so that team fights and skilled team-oriented play could develeop. Instead we got Cheese Wars where the team with the most knockbacks wins.

Give me an example of any class (Besides mace/shield warrior) that has reliable “spammable” CC rotations please. Most are knockdowns or stuns which will never throw you off an edge. Access to actual launches and RELIABLE fears is pretty limited and on long CD.

To elaborate: If you cannot watch for the super telegraphed animations of launches, you deserve to go over the ledge. Banish is easily avoidable, Necro marks can be evaded, and their wall is kindergarten levels of easy to avoid. Plus the one magic boon called stability that denies it all even if you were clumsy enough to get caught in it.

The number one topic of moaning on these forums since day one has always been linked to the fact that there’s only one game mode in tpvp. The minute they add something which spices it up a bit, in this case, players having to focus more on positioning/fighting across the map rather than standing on a point 24/7, everyone complains.

The cannon needs to be dodgeable, but apart from that, there’s so much room for fun and clutch plays in this map, that I can actually imagine it being the most enjoyable to watch streams of, imo.

Don’t be afraid to change builds and tactics. I sometimes think people just want everything to work the best with their one special build. If maps were all the same, there would be no point in new ones.

Making a map where professions that have obscene amounts of fear/knockback are inherently superior due to a ledge/fall mechanic EVERYWHERE is not a new game type. It’s just boring.

It’s a cheese map, Build Wars trumps Guild Wars. I.e. if you spec for kittentons of CC + fear you will do better than someone who is more talented and runs a build where the goal is to actuall kill another player or bunker the point.

It’s fine for hotjoin/having fun trolling people, but it’s an awful competitive map

One things for sure, this map isn’t designed for guardians, as you can see here, pretty high ranked guardians on one team and other team is just balanced. The guardians got stomped.

If you haven’t realized by now, temporal curtain is op on this map, nothing beats placing temporal curtain on glass, running over glass and shoving people down the pit. Doesn’t require positioning either, just a straight shove down the pit, people too dumb and unskilled to know when temporal curtain goes down its time to run.

I’m loving skyhammer tho because the skilled players can shine on this map.

Massive stability + banish = strong guardians. And no, you’re wrong, skilled players AREN’T allowed to shine on this map because CC + stability uptimes are the primary determining factor in who wins the fight (thank you for insta-death knockbacks off ledges everywhere). Not to mention the undodge-able massive cannon that is the most easily defended position on any map =\

what ever. the new map is great. adapt and learn to play.

New map is fully of buggy jumps, tiny cramped corriders + cap points, stupidly common opportunities for knockbacks to be 1-shot kills, and a secondary mechanic cannon that IS NOT DODGEABLE and is absurdly difficult to assault 1v1.

It’s fun to kitten around on, but it shouldn’t be a tourney map.

Hi, is the Pickup Competionist achievement bugged? I’ve gone through 5 races now where i’ve managed to use EVERY skill on the skill bar, but the achievement is still sitting at 6/7.

Is the achiev bugged or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: DISREGARD. The #9 Utility skill needs to actually HIT another player (not just be used) to count towards the achievement. Make sure you’re in range of someone when you use it!

NCSOFT is committed to their vision of a “budget” online RPG. They have always had a strategy of keeping the overhead low, so they drastically scale back on things like Customer Support and UI development. It’s just how the model for the guild wars games go. We are never going to see much improvement in these areas, unfortunately.

That doesn’t really make sense since UI + mechanics development are handled by the design and art teams…not something like QA/CS that can be cut back on. Designers/artists at Anet are usually salary employs, not 3-month contracts like the QA/CS people

They tried it in GW1 with the old balance forums that Izzy ran. Ended up that Izzy just did whatever [rawr] told him to (along with a bunch of batkitten crazy stuff that didn’t make sense) and they manipulated him into building a meta that supported their defensive spike builds.

Bringing in players to balance the game only works if the players aren’t going to manipulate balance to suit their own playstyles.

What I’m most concerned with is this quote from the article (translated):

" We will also see some changes in the management of the Guild? There are, we still have some major problems in managing a Guild concerns.

Zadorojny: It’s always something we’ll investigate and what we look at, but currently we are left with limited resources in this area and has no priority. It is always a possibility that we will return to the Guild UI and make it work."

There is NO priority for improving the Guild management function in this game? WHY? I understand that churning out living world content is the big money maker for this game and that most of your development resources are going into that, but guild management tools are one of the biggest things LACKING in this game. Even compared to GW1, which had relatively simple guild management tools, GW2 is absurdly lacking. Surely it wouldn’t be unreasonable to detach a small team (i.e. the size of the team that built the SAB in a month) to crank out improved Guild Management tools + UI, or at least to develop an API for guilds so that players can build their own Guild Management tools.

Legion Of Doom [LOD] is now openly recruiting on Sanctum of Rall. We currently have approximately 35 active members and have ALL guild missions unlocked.
We are looking for players who have an interest in learning to play at a high skill level or are already at a high skill level. There currently is no requirement for specific character classes, max level characters, etc. Once we get to the size that we want, our recruiting requirements will change.

We are a 7 year old community that played Guild Wars 1 together and has stayed together into Guild Wars 2. About 2 years ago in Guild Wars we were known as Club of a Thousand Pandas [LOD?]. We were proud to be a DOASC guild and hold several records in Guild Wars 1 not only for DOA but most elite areas as both Legion of Doom and Club of A Thousand Pandas.

PvE:
We are a high-end “speed clear” guild looking to re-establish ourselves as the elite players of GW2. On top of that, though, we’re a teaching guild. Being the best-of-the-best is a passion for us, but we’re looking to fill out to our size from GW1 and are interested in taking newer players and teaching them how to be the very best.
While we’re a small guild, we’re some of the best players in GW2. All guild missions have been unlocked despite our small size. This makes us the smallest guild worldwide to have unlocked every Guild Mission and we’re among the first 10 guilds overall to do so. We do daily FOTM 20, 30, and 40 runs and there are usually dungeon groups being formed for popular runs like CoE and Arah. We always have people that are looking for faster and more efficient ways to do Dungeons.

It’s double bleed damage while moving, and bleed damage while not moving. A.K.A it’s not going to hit hard unless your heavy spec’d for condis, and even then it’s fairly weak.

If you go full condi spec (with no might stacks) it should trigger ~220 DPS per stack while your target is moving. That’s not BAD but five stacks of torment will still deal lower damage than auto attack on sword and dagger. Seems kinda pointless to bring a dedicated utility slot for.

of course going into WvW with zerker gear is a moronic idea imo, unless you plan to hang back and nuke only from a far all the time.

You haven’t played tPvP. Zerk is the primary armorset for mesmers, thieves, and is viable for builds on ever other class.

I’m sorry but hybrid shatter/phantasm builds are complete trash. Especially if you’re using a staff, there’s no reason to ever even try to be a phantasm mesmer since staff phantasm’s projectile is extremely easy to avoid.

No offense, but you must not do any high end tournaments to think a build like that is going to work.

Please, because phant zerker is SO HARD TO AVOID ZOMG. Staff is all around better than greatsword and if you don’t feel like taking shatter trait you can put the 5 points in master minor for inspiration or grandmaster minor for dueling. This isn’t the end of the world, it’s a minor rebalancing.

Most phant mesmers are already running staff over GS, have you been watching SOAC or Team Sleepy? Stuff like this is popular (but obv needs adjustment now):

Drop greatsword, take staff, drop 10 frop dom and put it into illusions. GG you have a build that’s just as powerful, more defensive, and can take Illusionary Persona for shatter effects at your location. Would look like this:

Yeah you lose 100 power + phant zerker, but greatsword is for trash players anyway. We still have a powerhouse 1v1 build, it’s just not omnipotent anymore.

This. All your math also ignores traits that grant might on crit, which VASTLY increases damage output for zerk vs pvt

This doesn’t always work, of course – there are many situations in which dodge is not enough.

CoF1 is not one of those situations, so people don’t see any point in defensive gear these days.

The issue isn’t as much with the players, though, but with the poor design implemented by ArenaNet. By making dodging so proheminent, ArenaNet has made a large part of support irrelevant (all the interesting kinds of active support that help the entire party to withstand damage), and has created a mentality that leads to a lot of elitism.

Uh where??? All the dungeon content in this game is absurdly easy and can be completed with just the traits + weapon/utility skill available. Learnto use your evade skills properly!

I’m pretty sure they said they will be reworking the reward system.

Though gw1 did have something similar with the hero title, the first player to reach max rank reached it after a few years of dedicated playing.

The difference is, it actually required skill and competitive play. The only thing these both titles share are the animations, nothing else.

If you call 4 people playing IWAY 18 hours a day skill. For that matter it’s questionable whether HA ever required skill…..

Interestingly enough, Ectos have stabilized near the pre-patch price (~18s) while Dust has completely tanked (~40s prepatch). Sell listing prices as of 12 June 2013 8:30 AM CST

It’s much cheaper to buy the wings off the TP outright.

Zhaitaffies would have to cost 5c each for them to be worth the same price as the wings. With Zhaitaffies being 60c right now, that’s worth 600g when converted to 100 Jorbreakers.

Also take into consideration that the dragon wings is a consumable that becomes soulbound once used.

Candy Corn were ~40c each the first couple of days of halloween as well. By the end of the event they were down to 1c each and 6 months later they just dropped out of being the most supplied item on the trading post.

I’d bet on Zhaitaffy price plummeting to ~5c in the next few days.

It’s not a jump puzzle. It's a preview of the next living story arc, the Aetherblade airships. Check reddit for the dat mined info about the arc.

We can agree to disagree. But my data, which is me standing by a rock that kept magically teleporting me back 3ft when I got closer to it (claustrophobic rock?), I would say that the information shows that there will be a jumping puzzle of some kind soon in the game. My data will not be broken by posted information that I choose to ignore about someone doing something they shouldn’t (data mining) for the sake of spoiling it for everyone else. For same on people finding out something that I don’t know about, will completely ignore, and treat like Bigfoot.

How is data mining “doing something you’re not supposed to” It was an accepted practice in GW1 and it’s an accepted practice in GW2. The data is already IN THE CLIENT, it’s not hidden from the players. Arenanet is obviously hinting at the fact that that content is THERE TO BE FOUND and the majority of the playerbase is really EXCITED to find out where the game i heading in the next month or so.

You came on the forums and made a thread to speculate about future content, then make the decision to consciously ignore the information we have on the game in order to go on about your bogus speculation? What? What?

I like it ‘cus you can carry most games. Unlike in pvp you need a team to not get frustrated. In this minigame, if you’re good you can make the difference. Which I like.

I disagree. You can’t “carry” as a 2v1 will ALWAYS result in the 2 beating the 1. The winner almost ALWAYS comes down to which team has fewer afkers and each match has at least 2-3 akitten players (the entire match).

GW1 dragon bash was much more skill oriented (here you can just set auto-attack to 1 and run in circles, the balls are heatseeking so strafing is pointless)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD THIS.
Every match has 2-3 afkers and the winning team is decided by the side that has FEWER Akitten PLAYERS. Lock out players who give up or allow players to report afkers similar to GW1’s dishonorable. This minigame is just PAINFUL to play right now, it NEEDS a vote kick.

Well, why not teamqueue then?

Besides, statistically speaking, if you aren’t a leaver yourself, there’s always a better chance of the opposing team having a leaver and your team doesn’t.

The only thing really effing up Solo-q is that they queue together with premades and that the matchmaking is so ridiculous, that I get almost no points for winning, but I loose like 500 ranks from loosing.

Have you considered that it’s not always possible to get a team together to play. That’s WHY there’s a solo queue. The solution to solo queue being broken shouldn’t be to NEVER PLAY solo queue. It should be to FIX solo queue
