So, the major flaw with the new Laurel system seems to be that dailies are account bound and not character bound. I can only earn ONE Laurel per day and it will cost me 35 Laurels to get my ascended Amulet.
That’s all well and good for someone with only one max level character, I understand that max level gear should probably take some time investment to get. But the problem is that I have FIVE level 80 character that I like to keep at BiS gear. I already have all five of them in infused rings and basic backpacks (two with infused backpacks). Now you’re telling me it’s going to take FIVE MONTHS to properly gear all of my toons b/c you’ve imposed a very low-end limit on the number of Laurels one can acquire per day?
tl;dr make dailies character bound or allow us to buy amulets with pristine fractal relics (the HUNDREDS of useless pristine relics in my bank say hi). If I want to put in 5x the work to get my 80s geared in a month, I should be able to do that. I shouldn’t be forced to wait 5 months to get my characters to BiS b/c there’s an artificial limit of one Laurel per day.

No fix for the weird arc on AC path 3 final bosses scream? Or is it intended to be ~270 degrees?
No fix for the final boss of the event to open CoE?
Subject Alpha and the bloody Nightmare Tree still not dropping any bloody silver for seemingly no good reason?
Yeah was really hoping for a fix on the AC P3 boss scream…i believe a dev noted that it was broken about a month ago.
Most people on the forums have nothing good to say about the game. I agree for the most part, with some class balance tweaks the game will be in a very good state. I’d love for some more story-driven content as well, and that seems to be the direction we’re heading in the next few months.
Bot ban wave resulted in a much lower supply of trash rares->smaller supply of ectos. Look at GW2Spidy, the supply of ectos absolutely tanked on the 18th and price has been increasing since then. Whenever there’s a bot banwave, all valuable materials increase in price significantly.
It’s another result of the bot bans. Look back through the history on spidy, they spiked like this back in November after the last bot ban. Since we have fewer characters mindlessly zerging mobs as fast as they can spawn, there’s a fewer number of dyes. Supply started tanking on the 14th after the bans and price has continued to go up since then.
wait wait wait they are not sharable ?
When you create a legendary it’s souldbound on use. So you CAN share/trade them, but once it’s equipped, it’s locked to that character. There are plans to change legendaries so they are ACCOUNT BOUND on use instead of SOULBOUND on use. That way you can use the weapons on multiple characters. Unfortunately there hasn’t been much information on WHEN this change will be implemented.
TBH GW2 is lack some big dynamic type PVE content. I would like to see some sort of raid type thing in game. Dont have to be dungeon type raid. Just something you can do as a guild working in a group.
I dont even mention wow clone. Not interested. Raids are good for teamwork and guild work.
I feel like all the people in this thread have never done one of the metaevent chains in Orr. These things REQUIRE 20+ people to get done, have multiple stages, and massive endbosses.
Stop complaining b/c it’s not in an instance and there aren’t lockout timers. If you want to raid go to a game built around raiding. If you want to find raid-like elements in this game, they’re THERE!
I do intend on putting more waypoints into dungeons, but due to the work required for this upcoming patch we didn’t get enough time to make it happen.
I’m not a fan of “punishment running” wherein your punishment for failing is having to run a long distance back to the fight. To discourage res rushing potential we went initially with fewer waypoints. Now that we are implementing a new tech, I would like to add more to reduce the time spent running back to an objective.
We have more info coming soon to how the system will be working.
I’m hoping these changes won’t come before a pass is made on a lot of the dungeon encounters. Things like the CoF P2 Magg event CAN’T be accomplished without zerg rushing for a lot of groups.
Asura Gates don’t hurt either. A lot of the major issues of logistics disappear when you have instant transmission across continents, no matter how expensive using them seems to be.
Asura didn’t come above the surface until ~8 years after the searing. Even then widespread use of Asura gates was not common and there obviously was not one in Ascalon at the time of the Foefire (or we’d have had a LOT more Ascalonian refugees)
Pretty unfortunate. I’ve spent HOURS trying to transfer for over a week now without seeing my desired server become available =(
Just to throw a wrench in the cogs:
Just want to step in here for a second to comment on a few speculations:
There will be no mounts, no Cantha and no dragons coming with this story arc.
Sorry if that destroyed some dreams.
Would be nice for Martin to clear some things up on this comment. Does he mean that there will be no dragons involved in THIS prelude, or the entire jan-feb-march-and-beyond story arc? And what does he mean by “no dragons” with this arc? Does that mean no NEW dragons (i.e. Bubbles, Mordremoth) or no dragon involvement at all?
It seems hard to believe that a story arc covering several months would completely ignore the dragons considering there are at least four (and likely five) dragons left to be dealt with. So come on down Martin, and give the Lore forums some love for once!

Guild Halls and player housing are being worked on, but there is currently no timeframe for release.
Very excited to see the big update coming, as well as the devs monitoring this thread.
If one of the mods could answer… it is not specifically listed in the preview, but will there be bug fixes and class balance changes (stick with the broadest definition for this one, I don’t want to start an argument about specific things to be changed, added) or other maintenance things rolled into this patch?
And if you’re feeling generous, are you guys working on changes to improve the gameplay and feel of the classes?
Class balance and skill changes are coming as well. We won’t get any detailed information until we get the patch notes on release though (Jan 28)
The searing would not have completely eliminated the ability to grow food, it would have severely diminished the Ascalonian capacity however. Between the Searing, the invasion, and starvation, the population of Ascalon dropped dramatically during that period. With the exception of the pilgrims Rurik lead to Kryta, and the members of the Vanguard who populated Ebon Hawke, the entire population of Ascalon was wiped out by the time of the Foefire.
(Please note, the ascended gear purchased for laurels will not have agony resistance built in, since that mechanic is currently unique to progression in the fractal dungeons. They are however statistically the same as any other ascended gear.)
Will we be able to upgrade the amulets to have an inherent agony resistance in a similar manner to rings/backpieces?
The Third Guild War also took place in Orr as well as Kryta and Ascalon. Presumably the army was deployed inside Orr itself to end the fighting, and died during the Cataclysm. There’s no evidence that the Orrian Army was sent outside of Orr during the Third Guild War afaik.
But if they were in Orr, they could have defended it. But it clearly sais that the Orrian army was send elsewhere so Orr was left undefended. Also, amongst the Orrian undead there is a distinct lack of undead Orrian soldiers.
If they were deployed to the south of Orr or if they were severely weakened by the Guild War they would not have been able to defend the land.

Well it looks as if our next storyline is going to focus on the north
Seems very likely to be a Jormag-focused story in the Far Shiverpeaks and Charr Homelands. Now let’s get the speculation train rolling!
You don’t gain any PvE experience when PvPing. That’s your glory bar going up, not your experience bar. You start at level 80 with fully unlocked traits when you enter Heart of the Mists
It doesn’t take a lot of collusion when supply is as limited as it is (2 listed on the TP), but they technically don’t control supply as new precursors can enter the market at any time. It’s the rarity of this item that makes this sort of behavior possible (if this is what has occurred in this specific case), but that’s something ArenaNet are intending to address.
The supply is kept artificially low, a small Cartel buys up precursors as they enter the market in order to force an artificial scarcity and drive the price up. This allows them to fulfill the demand at whatever rate they wish at artificially inflated prices.
I would expect that gold sellers don’t list their legendaries. They don’t give a rat’s right buttock about getting gold that way – they have bots for that. They care about being able to SELL YOU a Legendary for real cashey money. Having their stock exposed to being bought in-game for worthless gold or just losing the listing fee when a real money order comes in and they need to take it down to fill it is just stupid for them.
Buying up all but a small number of legendaries/precursors drives the prices through the roof and allows them to charge more USD for the much larger number of precursors/legendaries that they are not listing.
Say there are 50 of The Lover in the market for a 100 gold each. You can buy all of them, relist five of them 500g each and buy up any new items that enter the market (while simultaneously posting phony buy orders to force the price to remain high). This allows you to charge 3-5x more USD for the 45+ copies of The Lover that you AREN’T listing.
Now do you see why it makes loads of sense for these gold farms to try and dominate the precursor market?
Actually the fact that gold sellers would monopolize these items makes perfect sense to me since you buy them and they get more gold to sell, so keeping the prices up is in their best interest.
Gold selling accounts would be easy to get rid of if they just kept some sort of log of big gold transfers from one account to other, assuming that’s possible.
They already do. Any transaction over 400g prompts an automated ban. Most RMT get around this by creating dummy guilds and transferring money through the Guild Storage system.
So I got this in a PM this afternoon. Obviously gold sellers have been abound since launch and it’s been apparent that Precursors are being manipulated in order to keep their prices artificially high. What HASN’T been apparent until now is that it seems GOLD SELLERS and not greedy players are the ones controlling these Legendary/Precursor markets. I’d really like to get John or Gaile in here to comment on Arenanet’s awareness of the situation and to hear what can be done to fix this problem.
(edited by Errant Venture.9371)
It’s not just The Lover, it’s most of the popular precursors. The supply is low enough that a small group of individuals is controlling the entire market.
I do find it interesting that the prices of unidentified dyes has shot up to 15s over the past few days.
Along with certain T6 and rare materials, unidntified dye prices will increase as the bot population is thinned in the new round of ban waves Gaile started pushing at the end of last week.
Colin posted earlier this week that the prices in that screenshot are not final and that they’ll be making adjustments to them before the January patch goes live.
OP is saying he is going after second second legendary witch means he ahs already done map completion and probably 4-5-6 of the crafts to lvl 400. So those options are out fo the question. What OP needs is the Bloodstone Shard = 200 Skill points. Getting 200 skill points on an alt just to get the bloodstone is a long process, expecially considering OP probably has 50-100 Skill points on his main already. As i am in the same position here is what i found is most useful in this situation.
- AC or CoF farming once a day
- Fractals farm once a day for several dailies(lets say lvl 2 and lvl 10, 20 )
- WvWvW – fast leveling depending on what server you playing on.
They’re suggesting that he create a fresh alt, level it through crafting, and complete skill challenges on that character. Bloodstone Shards are Account Bound so you don’t need to craft them on your main.
Headpieces/shoulders in tailoring are the cheapest, you can craft them for ~22s each.
Actually, looks like market manipulation. Other t6’s don’t have the same sudden rise in price.
Look at Karka Shells + Powerful Bloods, two of the items farmed by bots in Southsun. The volume of sell listing has decreased by half over the last few days and prices have started to rise rapidly (karka shell prices have doubled in the last 3 days). Other farmed T6 mats (armored scales + elaborate totems) have also seen a decline in sell listing volumes but not at such a rapid rate (presumably because these bots are less obvious dude to operating under water and produce a larger number of items resulting a larger total volume of materials to be absorbed by the market). Obviously this is not an act of manipulation, as these generate spikes that last a matter of hours at the most and result in a return to the previous sale values and sell listings relatively quickly.
Pretty sure devs already said it’s the oozes that bug it, but if you didn’t skip apparently not
If Dethat dies at all while fighting the Oozes or the scavenger group before them, she bugs (basically her script is interrupted and she can’t progress the story). You can do the dungeon in a legitimate manner, clearing mobs, and she’ll still bug out very often.
How will Guild Storage/Influence work in the new system? Will Influence/Guild Banks still be locked to a single World or will you be able to generate Influence and access Guild Banks while guesting?
No it isn’t. Rob said he wasn’t going to change the Jade Maw’s behavior with respect to pets because “it is actually pretty clever” (Source).
Yeah looks like he’s updated since the original post. That’s incredibly disappointing, since this just slows down runs. We don’t need pets/minions/clones/turrets to get targeted in order to relieve pressure, Maw is already one of the slowest paced fractals. I’ve NEVER run into a team (even at 40+) that has had trouble keeping up with anything other agony on Maw. Usually we’re just standing there waiting for more Colossi/Tentacles to spawn b/c we drop them so quickly!
Stop whining, we got quite a fair bit of a new information and the January blog + patch are coming by the end of next week!
Think Robert posted 2 weeks ago saying this was getting fixed in the January patch and ranger/necro/mesmer pets/summons will no longer get targeted
Utopia was scrapped as a full-blown campaign and GW1 in favor of the EoTN expansion and development of GW2. Much of the architecture, concept art, and design goals of the expansion were reused and can be scene in the Tarnished Coast areas of GW1 + GW2 though.
Let’s try and breath some life into this thread/request!
I am completely against Ascended gear, but I did end up running FotM eventually. The problem though, is that now it’s all I do. I run FotM a few times then I check out WvW for a little bit. That’s about it.
Why? Try doing other dungeons, leveling alts, working on achievments, or playing sPvP. There’s SO MUCH to do in this game.
I don’t get why people do NOTHING besides FoTM then come on the forums and complain that they’re not having any fun. Well duh, it’s because you’re only playing ONE tiny part of the game, of COURSE you’re going to get bored of it real quick.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/73735-endgame-lodestone-farming-guide/
Molten seem to drop of fire elementals in cursed shore + CoF chests. Don’t know if there’s a reliable farm for destroyer cores/lodestones atm.
Definitely not smooth…still getting ocasional 502 errors, dates on posts are appearing as 12+ months ago unless you click on them, and about a day and a half of posts have disappeared from the dev tracker
Fake math always bothers me.
http://www.jedcampbell.com/?p=262
n = 30 should approximate population behavior.
RNG is RNG.
You’re just using a distribution: you base your approximation on the upper/lower limits of the standard deviation.
Relog, it’s an ocasional bug.
Be careful when they have a normal name…a lot of the time it’s a simple case of the game not rendering players around you (due to culling) or someone using a WP. Find it hard to believe that botters would be able to get away with tele-hacking. That sort of thing should send up all kinds of red flags server side.
Granted I don’t have a large sample size, salvaged 21 CoF helmet/shoulders, got 11 ectos.
Ratio of 0.52
Post your results, we can theorize more.
“Regular” ecto salvage rate seems to be in the 0.8
Call back when your sample size is around 1000
No but there’s been a massive nerf to salvaging CoF gear. Good luck getting ectos.
Really?
No, he’s blaming his bad luck salvaging ectos the last few days on stealth nerfs which there is no actual evidence for.
You have earned your tokens, prices of gear is there for a reason, you can do whatever you want with your gear. However, you cant salvage karma gear as i know. I dont think this is classified as exploit.
You can forge green karma gear into yellows that are salvageable
Account-based diminishing returns. You can only complete 4 dungeons within 2 hours or diminishing returns begin. On the 5th dungeon you’ll get 45 tokens, then 23, etc. Once you’ve finished 4 dungeons you need to wait 2 hours from the completion of the first dungeon in order to avoid DR.
The DDE is the same as the Standard Edition it just gives the players a few convenience items and unlocks the Mistfire Wolf elite skill. TBH I don’t think it’s really worth it after playing my DDE account from launch. The mistfire wolf is kinda nice when you first unlock elites, but it’s MUCH weaker than class/racial elites and the items are basically useless beyond level 10
Bugged. /15chars
It might be more of a cultural thing since FOO is Taiwanese, and WM is Japanese(?) I think? I am not sure. More than likely someone somewhere changed their guild tags and server allegiance on an open forum and started trolling WM.
That’s what I got out of it though. It’s purely made up in my mind, but dang it I am right some times.
WM are Korean
