Having to wait another 24 hours doesn’t make sense to me. Why wouldn’t they make it so you get the 100 chest and the 500 chest, if you already had more than enough achievement points when the update went live
Because they’re made it one chest a day. I’m not sure why that’s a problem. Have a bit of patience. In a week no one will care.
Well, I think it goes a bit more in-depth than that.
A lot of players are at the 1800-9000 mark in achievement points (more around the 7500/8000 peak for averaging, but we’ll say 9000).
This means that players will get anywhere from 4-19 chests.
Each chest gives 1g.
Chest at 2500 gives 5g.
Chest at 5000 probably also gives 5g (if not more).
Chest at 7500 probably also gives 5g (if not more).
Chest at 10000 probably also gives 5g (if not more).
With that in mind, imaging if the average player has 5000 achievement points and is able to loot all their chests on the day of the patch.
Every player now has an additional 19g. That’s just asking for inflation, especially with a large influx of new items that nobody knows about.
If this patch was JUST about the achievement points with the chests, then sure, have it be as many as you can loot at once. But since the patch is also new content, they need to filter out the gold gain to a suitable amount so they don’t tweak the market.
You don’t want the other pics? If you do, PM me and I’ll add them to this thread.
And do you actively use all of their inventories at all times?
Put account bound items onto bank alts and also tokens if you know you won’t use them… yet.
Oh my, we now have to wait 24 more hours than the crowd. We are utterly displease and we shall make a mighty fuss. Huzzah, we stomp our feet in dismay.
There was a “starter” chest for 100 AP, then a 500 AP chest (which isn’t available in all time zones yet) and an upcoming 1000 AP chest with the new skins.
Can we get a detailed post on how these achievements work? As in my head I have it like this every day I log on i’ll get a bonus chest about 14 of them for 7k AP points am I rght? thats 14 days one per day up to 7k AP… Unlike the WvW chests which actually tells you how many chests are owed to you this new UI panel doesn’t tell you how many AP chest are owed
It doesn’t need to. It shows you a queue with the next available chests after what you’ve currently obtained.
See: Screenshot.
Note: Points is the total AP, not the amount of AP you need to get (from where you are) to get.
So if it says 1000, then I need a total of 1000 OR MORE achievement points to get that chest.
Trogdor is correct. Currently, the highest attainable rank chest is 500. Tomorrow the highest will be 1000.
The chest shown in your achievement panel is the NEXT chest you will get. It’s a queue/carrot. It shows you what you can/will get in the next X achievement points. (if you already have those achievement points, then you’ll receive it when ready).
I’ll take pics of them in a bit, but I currently only have the pink quaggan in my inventory and I’m out adventuring!
EDIT: And yes, it’s pretty big. The bow comes nearly up to my shoulder as an Asura.
Yes, that’s more or less the best way to go about it. You can combine a fine, journeyman, master, and 3 mystic forge stones to get a mystic salvage kit (250 uses) which is currently a slightly better deal than master, though it has the same effectiveness IINM (value of this will vary based on gem/gold conversion, since mystic stones are a gem store item).
Current market price depicts Mystic Salvage Kits as being a money sink. Other than saving you space (which you shouldn’t worry about since you’re not going to typically loot 25+ rares in a single outing), it’s just a convenience item right now.
Although with the influx of Mystic Shards from Achievement Chests, you can opt to make one or two with those.
Typical salvage uses are:
Crude: White and Salvageable items. Optional: Blues.
Master: Level 68+ rares.
Black Lion: Level 68+ exotics.
For the remaining items (Blues/Greens), it’s a fine line between salvaging via Crude or just selling to an NPC.
Yehp. post2short
Last I heard (in a SotG) they were planning on making something like this for HotM then maybe MAYBE it would get ported to PvE.
I prefer the GW1 “party leader” system, where there is no party leader, and if anyone leaves, nobody cares (for the most part). They can also reconnect within 5 minutes.
Well when I looked at the info for 500 points it never said 1% anything, just the 1 gold and 1 Laurel. Are you sure you are looking at the right chest?
ya im pretty sure. as u can see 1% magic find.
You’re looking at the second chest.
The first chest is 100 achievement points and will leave that “queue” of next chests once you obtain it. Look at my picture. Does that mean that my first chest was a 1000? No, I simply looted both the 100 and 500 chests so far.
I had a dream where i was living in the game. It was pretty darn fun. I woke up disappointed.
In the Sanctum Sprint if you are afk for ~60s it will boot you to the character screen. From there, you log back into Labrynthine Cliffs. If you join the Sanctum Sprint from there, you will join at the second last checkpoint and be able to complete it.
There will be no chest awaiting you at the end, nor will this count towards the infinite repeatable achievement that grants you a Loot Bag. But this will count towards towards Crowd Favorite.
Also, if the match hasn’t started/is starting while you load, you will be placed at the beginning, not at the second last checkpoint.
I’ve also started at the 3rd/4th last checkpoint, with this.
I see these as things to keep me from farming CoF all day.
In case you’re wondering… it’s your Personal Instance (Home Instance) that it’s located in.
You can also harvest your node in ANY of the races home instances, regardless of your characters race. But you can only harvest one node per day (once harvested, the other home instances will not spawn the node).
I completely agree (not that I have any). That’s just adding insult to injury instead of being helpful.
Figured out the solution. Basically you need to consume health regen food. I found Mango Pies to be the best! I was able to do this in one pass
Mango Pie lets you gain 85 health every second PLUS +70 Vitality (extra HP)
The 70 vitality doesn’t help in the minigame. Your health gets defaulted to 10000 AFTER bonuses.
I’m… still slightly confused at what you’re upset about. o___o;
But anywho, I think people would be more ticked off if the failed achievements weren’t locked away not to look at. If they were out in the open I think it’d be rubbing it in more.
Imagine having 299/300 holographic minions killed. THAT WOULD SUCK (because it would be in your face).
It’s tiered, so yes tomorrow will have better stuff. We also all got the exact same things.
We all got 3 random boosters, 1 random copper gathering tool, 1 leather bag, 1 gold, 1 laurel and 1 sip of liquids. Fixed
EDIT:
Iwas going to post again, but whatever.
The first chest contains a lot more than what I listed. Most of what I listed was off the top of my head from what I remembered, not from actual looting. PLEASE STOP QUOTING ME ON THIS, I KNOW I’M WRONG!

i dont understand what you’re asking for; are you saying there shouldnt be a timer or should be (didnt the patch ntoes say they added a timer?)
Also wtb Portal timer.
portal does time out if exuent isnt used
Hence why having a timer notifying us on how long we have left would be appreciated.
It’s okay, all my events are 100%, the only thing I dislike is that the infinite achievement will ruin my 100% streak. WHYYYYYY!
Also wtb Portal timer.
I want to reskin my turrets with Asuran Megalaser skins.
I actually like the mini Asura turrets that look like diamonds. I also like the golems that look like aforementioned diamonds.
You can preview all of them except the weapons by viewing NPC’s (including the Black Lion redeemers).
My 150 hours was dedicated hours towards getting to 30, I probably spent a total of 500 hours playing in that month, but most of the time was me enjoying myself (and doing things that don’t actively count towards HoM).
He will use his water pretty much every time it’s up and he will also use his belch pretty much every time it’s up. When he’s really low, he’ll also bluff, so you need to be wary.
It depends on how much time you spend. It took me ~150 hours to get from 10 → 30, but I also got really lucky and had half of the points given to me for free.
I feel like it was meant to be unlimited, because of the amount of excess space. Oh well, we’ll see…
Well, we are playing Sylvari, Norn, Asura and Charr who are not a part of mankind.
The NPC’s have no cooldown on their signature skills (and it carries on from one match to the next even though the buff disappears).
Adnul has a different bug in addition to that where he has a 1 turn cooldown Drink (heal).
Also, NPC skills deal the proper amounts of damage/heal (10% self damage and 20% heal) whereas players have 10% heal and 20% self damage.
I dunno about galadriea, but whenever it happens to me (which is rare), doing so fixes the problem.
It’s usually after I’ve been on for a long time and typically have gone invisible multiple times.
Celestial doesn’t give enough toughness so it’s kind of useless for ele.
It gives just as much toughness as everything else, HUZZAH!
And I almost hit 1 + 2 for massive movespeed. Seriously, the mobility there is freaking amazing and fun!
iWarden will move if he loses LoS. This includes little bumps and hills. Use this knowledge to your advantage.
Also, if he does lose LoS, he won’t start attacking until he gets LoS AND is melee range of his targeted opponent.
I have Halting Strikes but only because I run with GS + Pistol atm (just for high burst in dungeons). GS/Pistol 5 both interrupt and so the bonus dps is bonus dps. It’s not something that you should specifically trait for, by any means, but Halting Strikes alone is a “meh, might as well” trait, especially since there aren’t THAT many useful non-shatter Domination traits.
I’m sorry that people on your server aren’t competent, but this dungeon is a breeze in terms of difficulty. It’s one of those dungeons that can easily be carried on one persons back as opposed to other dungeons (heck, even CoF p1 can’t be completed with just one person).
I’m quite sure might works on phantasms. I know if I spawn my warden before using SoI in CoF P1, it tends to deal a significantly larger amount of damage. This has been happening to me for months, but I haven’t officially tested.
Also, just recently, Phantasms will inherit your Sigil of Accuracy (+5% Crit Chance).
Its a trait you take to compliment you goal. Not something to base a build on. All interrupt traits fall into this category.
For this purpose its a very solid trait if big crits is your thing.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. The interrupt traits seem to be extra fluff to throw into a build, not something upon which a build is based. Halting Strikes can be a good option if you have a lot of power/crit and can interrupt fairly regularly. Bountiful Interruption can be good if you can proc a bunch of Might with Chaos Storm and then share it with your party via SoI. These traits are far from bad and certainly have their uses. However, I wouldn’t recommend trying to grab interrupt traits solely for the purpose of making a build around them.
Keep in mind, Bountiful Interruption only grants 5s of Might per interrupt. It does, however, stack a lot of boons in a Chaos Storm (but it’s really unreliable and it’s not worth going that far just for one skill).
I would suggest to just run dungeons. Try and find a dungeon running guild on your server (so you don’t get yelled at for being inexperienced and/or dying for being undergeared) and proceed to gear up that way. It’s a slow method but you can strategize your needed dungeons to get your appropriate gear. Just start by figuring out what stats you want then figure out what dungeons have them.
Figure out what stat combination you want
Figure out where to get them
You can also do Karma, but that’s somewhat expensive for new 80s and also requires timing via your worlds temples.
Sure thing, buddy.
The most expensive thing is obtainable in a month of playing and, like I said before, it’s cheaper to get with Guild Commendations, which only require you to login once a week as opposed to everyday for a month. Everything else can be obtained with 10 days of dailies + a monthly.
The idea of laurels is to increase longevity of the game through grinding. If you give players a means to access higher levels of armor too quickly, you lose them needing to play for a certain amount of time before they achieve that.
You can’t put a carrot on a stick then give the donkey a longer neck.
Laurels aren’t meant as an effort to increase longevity in the game. They’re meant to reward players who play more often.
You can easily get rewards without logging in every day. (Weekly Guild Commendations are technically cheaper for Ascended Accessories and provide other unique items).
Also 37g is technically a loss on your end. Standard RNG states that 37.5g is the average amount of money it takes to get the Minipet. Tack on the TP fees and you’ve just lost.
Then you’re using it incorrectly. I’ve seen plenty of Elementalist use it to move their butts into a safer spot so I, or others, can res them.
How about kicking someone boots them into a private instance. If they are booted anywhere near the chest. They can still get it.
Put a timer on the private instance, so AFK people get booted out of that too.
Most of the time, the kick will occur before the final boss is done.
Does the celebration for the fourth of july stay all year long?
It seems like you don’t understand the aggro system.
It’s based on proximity (with a bit of LoS), stats (in some cases), damage, control, and utility.
If you want to ensure aggro, root/cc your opponent and stand next to him while bursting him as much as possible while they are rooted/cc’ed. This will make yourself a very large target in the AI’s eyes.
Unless someone goes down. A downed player seems to draw tons of aggro.
Can you please tell me what the point of that mist form ability Elementalists have when they’re down? By the looks of it, it would appear to be a skill used to drop aggro and get a few seconds to move away from danger, but it’s anything but that. Either I’m using it wrong, it’s use is completely counter intuitive or it’s broken.
It’s a disengage. You can use it to avoid skills and re-position yourself (preferably behind allies or into some water). By yourself, it’s somewhat useless, but can be a decent stall if you have conditions on the enemies.
