Don’t think I should be required to raid to unlock experience. It should be optional, but okay I’ll leave it at that.
Thanks for the response.

I just had a guild member tell me they get Spirit Shards from experience in Bloodstone fen.
My experience bar does not fill in that zone, I was assuming it’s the same for everyone. The only difference between me and him is I have 162 Mastery points and he has 170 (8 from the raid).
Can anyone tell me what’s up with this?

We’re all not as original as we think we are.
iirc this is why they have changed the living story release model to quarterly (or bi-monthly) instead of monthly, because they have finite development resources and about half of them are focused on xpac 2.
Forgive my ignorance on the class, but from my limited experience I can’t actual think of a time you’d want to berserk without immediately bursting so you can build up more bursts…
Having to hit F2 then F1 seems redundant.
Why don’t they just build Berserk mode into F1?
Yeah that was a huge disappointment.
Ele #1 Thief #2 > most other classes around the same here but Mesmer and ranger are at the bottom.
With the forge I find the process more interesting by opening notepad and recording the tries it took to get each of the 77. Ends up looking something like “3 6 6 2 1 3 4 2 2 7 9 1 etc”.
Then you can add up the numbers at the end and divide by 77 to get your average tries per clover. 3.2 is supposed to be the average according to wiki.
It does mostly average out without too much varience in the end. It’s basically going to cost you 200-300 coins+ectos, likely the average in the middle around 230-270.
Isn’t that the same as pressing tab then the key?
Seems pretty useless to me. Maxed MF and 2200+ hours, still never found a precursor.
RNG is RNG. You’re either lucky or you’re not.
Like you buy three lotto tickets instead of one, it’s not like you’re significantly increasing your chance to win, it’s still a drop in the ocean.
Worst one I noticed was D/P thief (Shadow Shot), you shoot an incinerator dagger out of your pistol at your opponent lol.

You’ve been playing MMOs for ten years and you still haven’t realised gear power increases aren’t a reward, they are a nerf?
You play and get best gear, then the company goes ahead and makes a new zone / dungeon / raid which has a new better gear benchmark.
It’s an illusion. Take the new content out of that equation and all they’ve done is nerfed your characters power by rendering your gear obsolete and forcing you to gear up again. It’s an endless, stupid, pointless treadmil that gets very tiresome after a while.
So why not just release new content that people can enjoy without nerfing everyones characters? That’s what GW2 does.
You’ve got to become diselusioned with those traditional MMO gearing systems at some point. It’s just an endless carrot on a stick treadmil of a goal that you can never achieve…
Cool. Something to do before (like it or not) the next WoW expac takes a huge number of the player population away for a while. But I’m sure you guys factored that date that into your release timings. Sounds like you’ll be releasing soon, which will be just in time!
Everything has drawbacks you basically need to choose which drawbacks you want.
Like you can have damage, DoT, surivability, utility, mobility but never all at once.
That’s one thing I like about GW2. In other MMOs all the classes do the same stuff but in different ways. In GW2 you got classes that do different stuff in different ways. It helps keep the classes feeling unique.

The trick is to place a buy order, not buy outright. I got The Legend for 900g.
What happens is people find precursor drops (unfair, I know). Then they list it for 1200g. That’s a lot of gold so not many people are willing to buy outright. So it sits, then someone else finds one and undercuts them and they get annoyed. After repeat process a couple of times they just fill the highest buy order.
Everything but structured pvp and raids.
Is there a way to press a key for confirmation dialogue boxes such as the “yes” when the game says “Are you sure you wish to delete this item?”
I ask because I find myself deleting a lot of things in this game (minor runes, dragonite etc.) and having to move the cursor back and forth from the item to the center of the screen is very inconvenient. Especially after you’ve play a bit of silverwastes. The stuff just stacks up.
That one hero challenge place of power in Tangled Depths where you had to swim through a tunnel under Rata Novus and climb some rocks into a secret lab. Seriously on the map it shows that it’s in some Chak Tunnels… I spent hours running around those tunnels before I had to youtube it and was like “wtf? How am I supposed to find that without youtubing it?”. Stuff like that really annoys me.
This whole thread is toxic and the opposite of why I play this game.
Luckily I was told about this a few weeks before the patch so I was able to buy a gift before it went live.
I did the WvW track grind for another last weekend, and it took me over 12h (utility primer ran out) I would say probably 15-18 hours in EOTM just following the blob commanders. IDK if that’s the most efficient way or not because I don’t usually WvW.
I will say this though. I had fun.
It’s a game mode I usually don’t participate in because I don’t have to but I got used to it and it ended up being pretty cool and got some spirit shards and champ boxes to boot.
So overall I think it’s a good change. Forces you to move out of your comfort zone and you never know you might end up liking it!
You’re missing the fact that Staff auto 1 and 2 hit fairly weak and most the damage is built into 3 where vault just frontloads all its damage from range and has massive AoE plus an evade.
It’s often not easy to pull of a full auto because you have to evade or the target moves, teleport or you get CC’d or you have to evade or heal. Vault offers much more utility with the evade plus movement and AoE.
I think it feels fine the way it’s set up, pulling off a full auto3 feels rewarding.
Put “With Cut Scenes” in your LFG description.
It lists 600 but you only travel 500.
Either the tooltip is bugged and needs to list 500. Or the skill is bugged and needs to travel 600.
As it currently stands the targeting circle is unreliable at best because you never fully travel to where it shows and you have to overcompensate for the crappy bug… that is on top of predicting enemy movement.
Now we are what a while nine months into expac, still not fixed?
Try it your self.
1. Snap ground targeting to max range in options so you always got max range.
2. Position the Vault Aoe so it is centered on some easy to see landmark, like a change from grass to road.
3. Click and watch your character fall drastically short, every single time.
Risk vs reward.
Melee does significantly more DPS than just about every ranged option.
It’s not stupid game design, that’s how it should be. Certain fights I switch to range because I’m not comfortable getting up close and personal.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I have never once paid any attention to the pvp icons on people’s names (as in I didn’t care what they were for), no matter the game mode I was playing. I did see them as unnecessary clutter though. a stupid icon on the nameplate that has no bearing outside of pvp. the less clutter the better I say. would like them to remove it in pve too.
Oh come on. I don’t care for PvP at all, but I do notice the badges (as do you) and I do respect the legendary(?) Star league badged players. They accomplished something through a great deal of effort which is probably difficult, or a hard grind (I have no idea) so why does it upset you so much? It’s an accomplishment and good for them.
Yeah I don’t think I even know what Nevermore, Astralria, ChuppaChupp footfalls look like. Kinda sad gen1 legends outshine gen2, when gen2 are more expensive AND time consuming (can’t just buy precursor).
More raids.

For fractals, they are designed well to ease you in to them and get used to the different maps as you level up your personal fractal level and garner more agony resistance. You can do like up to 25 without AR so really you can jump right in and start learning. If you just run low level fractals in PUGS practically everyone you group with are inexperienced too , so they won’t hassle you if you don’t know the fights.
Low level fractals are significantly easier than dungeons. So coupled with the above posters advice, just go for it.
It’s the same mechanic Sharpshooters have. They will instantly down you from very long range if you’re gliding.
The commonness of legendary greatswords still doesn’t diminish the fact that they add fancy traily effects to all your attacks. That alone does it for me. I also really like the glowing gem on the hilt of eternity.
(PvE) just from my experience, but after playing elementalist main for years, Reaper is ez to survive any PvE content in berserker gear. I mean minions aside (if you take them) you have two HP bars, and one of them regenerates really fast. I don’t see any reason to take gear other than maximum DPS especially because reaper DPS isn’t that great in general compared to squishy classes like Ele or Thief.
When you have completed a collection, please put a button next to it which will delete all the associated items from your possession. Or just do it automatically.
I just went through my first HoT legendary collection and now I have a bank tab full of items that I kept in-case I needed them.
To delete them all I have to type the item name out to destroy, and I need to type something like “Experimental Hylek Poison Equipment Device Book Volume 6.” etc for a bunch of items and it’s annoying.
Just fyi if you’ve been hacked multiple times 90% chance you have a trojan virus on your pc.
My first step would be reformat the hard drive, only way to be sure.
Bifrost or incinerator are the first two choices I’d make for ele. Staff has multiple uses in pve and wvw. Dagger is a staple. Scepter is pretty niche. Howler and minstrel are meh seems like a waste of gold but I guess you can switch the stats if you make them.
Yes! Let me salvage my now useless Salvage-O-Matics for gems.
Make it work with any item, you only get back half of what you paid.
I haven’t partaken in this because I have been unaware / busy with dailies and work and such but it does sound like an exploit to me. I will jump in and give it a shot on the weekend.
Human because pretty much all the armors seem to be custom designed for them (and norn, but less people are inclined to play bodybuilder musclemaniacs or giant women).
For example my Flamekissed set looks like some hamfisted version of the male set on my female Asura elementalist, but on my female Human elementalist it’s a completely different, more elaborate and fitting set.
It’s inversely affected by Gem>Gold and Gold>Gem transactions.
When HoT launched lots of people were spending lots of IRL money on gems to convert to gold. Now that we’re months in people have stopped spending cash, and the frugal players who farm and buy gems with gold outnumber the former so it’s driving the rate up in that direction.
I just hope LS3 is in the living world somehow like LS1. I really enjoyed event bosses like Marrionette (sp?) And save LA events and scarlet etc. LS2 was fun but it’s basicallly single player mode now.
This basically proves they have zero mechanisms to detect actual 3rd party software and they rely purely on player reports to ban people for botting. Sad.
99% sure they’ll be giving us another offhand or maybe mainhand because that way they only have to design 8 or 12 new skills instead of 20.
How do you have that many machettes? You only get a handful from DS meta and there are millions of pods to use them on now. They are extremely expensive to buy, so I really don’t see the need for a home instance pod node.
Unfortunately the watchwork mining pick is still too valuable to justify the purchase of any other unlimited mining tool. Based on the drop rate and current market value of sprockets, the watchwork pick is worth an extra 67 copper per swing on average.
So I won’t be buying any more mining tools unless anet either nerfs the watchwork pick, or extends the functionality to all unlimited mining tools.
The sprockets are like 2 copper?
Naming a character is currently horrendous. I don’t RP at all, so I dislike names that are essentially titles like X of/the Y. I don’t want to randomly make up a surname like X Y because the surname bares no significance to me. I just want to be known as X. Every single one word name has been taken. Every last one, including versions that substitute or add a letter here or there in an attempt to compromise.
This is an extreme example, but I usually notice it when my character is stepping on something small like a rock etc, it’s just cool.
I asked about this in my guild chat after spotting two MM necros in the Not So Secret JP that had been there for over 12 hours (I was struggling with the dive goggles so I had to come back the next day).
The response I got was mixed. One person told me to train mobs on them, another said there’s nothing wrong with it. A small argument ensued with no clear winner so it is indeed a controversial grey area.
I am personally against it. I think it’s currently allowed because it’s entirely handled by the mechanics the game provides.
They just need to change ONE thing to stop it, make the autocast skills not break the afk-timer. Then they can’t stay in game without a third party program, which would be cheating.
Easy fix tbh.
I don’t think “intended” is the right word. More like “allowable use of legitimate game mechanics”.
Even though this is basically cheating (getting loot while you sleep) it’s entirely within the parameters of the game design, there is no external software etc involved. So they can’t really take action against it, because they have no grounds to do so. Therefore, it is allowed.
People would end up exploiting map taxis just to check different map instances to see whether a shiny had spawned. It’s a novel idea but wouldn’t work because juveniles are in fixed locations.
No. They’re just toys (and ugly ones at that, imho). They aren’t mounts and they should not provide any sort of buff other than being a cosmetic thing if somone likes them and wants to buy them.
Honestly you’re selling yourself short. If it was gold I would agree with you, but Anet has allowed a large amount of breathing room for silver on these adventure challenges, they even nerfed many further on the last update.
Watch a video so you can see where the shortcuts are and practice. Just writing youself off from the get go won’t accomplish anything.
