I doubt they’d remove such a neat piece of lore and tribute to our little champ Zojja for no reason.
For Sanctum Scramble I suggest enabling “lock ground target to maximum range” in settings, then google a gold video it will show you that you can use the dragon leap skill on the roof (locked ground targetting will help here so you don’t select an out of range piece of roof). This gets you an immense verticle height which you can then glide and use the dragon zoom ability to fly huge distances and skip much of the course.
I have no interest in raiding what so ever, and the Open World Content Tab is littered with
“LFR exp condi necro”
“LFR chrono tank VG”
“LFR SAB”
“EXP raider LFR”
“US Guild recruiting raiders MUST HAVE CLEARED RAID”
“LFR VG PS Warr”
etc…
It’s actually difficult to find Open World Content listed under the Open World Content tab.
I got called an Autist the other day, don’t even know what that means but it made me feel bad It was my first time on Dragon Stand map…
Because Lava Font spam was engaging in PvE?
Bleed is the weakest condition, 30 stacks of bleed is like same damage as 10 stacks burning. Limited/inconsistant poison application too.
Condi thief is ok in theory just don’t expect to deal anywhere even remotely close to berserker damage.
I found berserker thief to be one of the more powerful but more squishy classes while running through HoT.
If you’re going to run staff, which in all honesty as a DD you should be, then I would suggest running P/P on alternate. Reason being sometimes you need a range option, and P/P provides rangle single target damage with unload, some stealth and interupt / breakbar support.
Staff cearly has your cleave AoE damage well and truly covered, but as we die in 2-3 hits, trying to melee a whole group of mobs is risky. You can get away with it by well timed Vaults and Bounds for the evade frames (and I DO mean well timed), weakening charge is high damage but with no evades and a small wind up animation you will likely take a hit.
We have like 5 reflect shields now.
Passive proc below 90% hp
Overload earth magnetic aura
Aftershock!
focus/horn earth 4
Rebound!
So basically ranged attacks shouldn’t hit us. This leaves melee which you can dodge and kite.
Combine that with 40% protection, aura pooping left right and center with vigor and regeneration and you can see Tempest was a godsend for ele defenses.
Fallen Masks Gold and lag, is it impossible?

No the spinning is the same for everyone, it’s just the animation. I’m talking about the fraction of time when you jump on it, and nothing happens yet, it’s just treated like terrain until the server registers you’re on a mushroom.
You may have noticed when we jump on the mushrooms we have to physically stop our characters moving because if we move off before the server registers for the bounce to start, it will glitch out and we will spin on the ground but nothing will happen. I suspect that doesn’t even happen for people with proper ping, they will just land on it and start spinning immediately.

Assuming 250ms latency (one quarter of a second), which is actually quite good for an Australian player.
This challenge involves Bouncing Mushrooms which incur the latency delay before activating and bouncing you off them. So every time you jump on one, you lose a quarter of a second if you are not American basically.
I have counted on my good attempts, and will often use around twenty jumps on these mushrooms to get to the various masks.
Now basic math points to 20 * 0.25 = 5 seconds lost waiting for Bounching Mushrooms to activate.
Considering how close Anet have cut the timers on these gold challenges, I’m not even sure it can be done.
This isn’t a problem with any of the other challenges that I have encountered because there isn’t excessive use of latency-delay inducing mechanics, such as having to jump on twenty Bouncing Mushrooms.
I would like to hear from anyone who has achieved this with 200+ ms lag.
Fallen Masks is going to break my keyboard pretty soon.
It’s so unfair to non-american players.
First of all your title is inflamatory.
Secondly yes this game is action oriented combat. It’s not about executing a dps rotation (although that does exist) it’s mainly about awareness and most importantly reacting.
You need to be aware of conditions, controls and telegraphed attacks. Those are clearly defined catagories and each have a counter which are condition removal, stun breaks and dodges respectively.
It’s a deceptively simple system but inpractice you will find it difficult to master.
I think the fantasy for Pistol is focused single target damage, I think that’s why they removed Ricochet. We have Longbow for AoE and multi-target.
Although I do agree P/P is pretty sad and can use some major buffs in PvP. I don’t think the problem is the P/P skill though, which is Unload, that seems pretty fine for a burst attack. I think the Culprit is just Pistol 1&2. The #1 does garbage damage, because you’re going to be focusing on Unload you’re going for power and the bleed is insignificant. The 1sec immobilize on #2 is fairly pitiful and you’re better off using the initiative on another unload, five stacks of three seconds of vulnerability is a joke.
I think the fantasy is “use body shot to root them and make then vulnerable and then unload!” It sounds nice on paper but it’s just functionally inferior to unloading twice though.
Turn down itunes software Volume.
Increase audio hardware volume.
Leave GW software volume at max.
I don’t know how anyone can stand playing in knights or soldiers gear. Twice as long to kill world mobs, eww.
They don’t all come at once. It’s quite easy you only make a series of pulls 2-3 mobs at a time. Just make sure you don’t die, because dying once will invalidate the achievement (even though it doesn’t specify that -.-)
Lol wait till you get to the actual fight. Try 5+ times and hope it doesn’t Glitch so you have to restart after spending half an hour killing him.
I can’t believe they pump out the cash shop items while ignoring game breaking bugs on the boss of the game, simply sad.
Personally I find Engi fun but I don’t play it often…
Because the Kit-Button DDR world championship type gameplay is mentally draining and detracts in general from relaxation or having a good time while playing.
Yes I can half kitten it or play something sub optimal but then I’m being sub optimal and I’d rather play another FUN class like Elementalist that still has lots of abilities and thinking involved but it’s a little more forgiving and less taxing on the old carpal canal.

Why am I doing this? Erm, it updates a bar in the Guild Hall. Is anyone even using this?”… And months from now, will anything have changed? “… okay, I need this new Ascended gear. Let’s see, that’s farm this… Wait. Did I just say farm? Wasn’t I doing that last month?”
There’s no ‘game’ right now.
None.
^ I don’t know how to quote a specific part of your post from my phone so I will just italicize.
This can be applied to any MMO, or really even any video game. Even WoW. If you play that game for long enough you will realize your character getting more powerful is just an elaborately planned out illusion by the game developers. In a few months the next raid tier is released and suddenly everything you accomplished is worthless apart from achievement points and skins.
Achievement points and skins. Like in GW2. They are essentially the same pointless exercise, the only difference is GW2 doesn’t have the progression illusion.
That leads back to the question you originally asked, if we are all ultimately accomplishing nothing, why are we playing?
Well a lot of people tend to get so caught up in gaming that they lose sight of the original motivation and goal: fun. You play the game as a pass time and for fun.
This leads to the logical conclusion, if you are not having fun any more, then by all means you should not be playing the game. There is no reason to invest your precious free time into something both unenjoyable and unproductive. You could find another game, or hobby which are both fun, or perhaps find something actually productive to do, like get another job or whatever.
Anyways, I just find it strange so many people when posting seem absolutely miserable about playing the game, it’s baffling and contradictory to the point of the exercise. No one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to play, “farm this ascended material” he’s screaming in my ear, nope j/k. I’m only farming it because I want to, and want to because I’m having fun playing the game, at least for now.
They’re not even that impressive any more tbh. First time I saw them years ago I was like holy kitten what the kitten is that weapon! Fast forward to now and like literally every other GS user has a one of the two traily swords.
Basic overloads offers instant stun break and utility like protection, or condi removal and some dmg. That’s without even looking at the tempest trait line. I can’t see a reason to pass that free utility up. And honestly if you’re talking about HoT content like PvE content the AoE is so kittening useful. It can be difficult to pull off but that 5 second period after where the elemental damage field is active and you can also attack with other abilities is huge damage.
How do you acquire viper gear?
From Auric Basin. First, you need 250 aurillium to buy the recipes for insignias, inscriptions, and exquisite jewelry. Then you need to buy the recipes for particular weapon bits. You can either buy these off of the TP, or get them via random drops from Exalted Chests from the Auric Basin meta event.
So do we all need to grind crafting to be able to make these armor sets or can we have a friend make it for us? Can the armor be purchased from the TP?
I’ll complain about grind as much as the next person, and perhaps even more. But I’m not sure getting crafting up neccessarily is a grind in most contexts.
No Viper’s can’t be sold on the TP (for better or for worse). You basically either gotta farm up the recipes and diamonds, which can be kinda grindy, sure. Or you can buy it all with gold. Either way Viper’s is gonna be very expensive in either gold or time. So I often think that people requiring Viper’s for raids which I see once in a while is a bit over the top.
Of course, you can always do the super short HoT story for the Viper’s Equipment Boxes that you get at the end. That’s one way to do it for free, and for some people, repeating the story over and over might be more attractive than doing a billion AB metas, or throwing all their gold away.
I’m fairly sure the reward box only contains Wanderer’s Leystone gear, not vipers.
There is one mission that rewards an exotic vipers recipe choice, though. But those are usually only a few gold on the AH so it’s not a big deal imho.
The only thing difficult about story mode mordremoth is trying to kill him without the fight bugging and and needing to restart (again…)
There seems to be a 99%+ consensus that TD is terrible.
I hope the person(s) responsible for designing it are getting some stern talking to by someone in charge.
Verdant brink was great though. Best gliding map, I wish the rest were more like it.
It’s a stupid achieve but like the person above said, fire elemental powder and ogre pet whistle can cheese this pretty good. I had one other person from LFG we both used those items and the vet wolf melted.
Stupid tactics for a stupid achieve, go figure.
Just block or dodge their opener and move them out of the red field then it’s gg. They have a tiny HP pool compared to other mobs.
So expensive though.
You are in the kitchen making a cup of coffee with your character standing idle in a safe spot. You start to hear combat noises from your PC and come back to observe that guy dragging a mob next to your character so it starts killing you. You faceplam, kill the mob and watch the scoundrel move on as if he was totally innocent.
I hate that guy.
As an Australian the concept is literally a pipedream for anyone who plays from here. 200-300 latency is around 1/4 second delay.
With a quarter second lag when I dodge I get hit after I begin dodging most of the time. The dodge animation is what, 3/4 second? That means if I don’t react within the first 1/2 second I will get hit. If I dodge 1/4 second before the attack hits, I will get hit.
In other MMOs this doesn’t play such a large part because active mitigation isn’t such a cornerstone of those gams. But in GW2, dodge, block, evades are everything.
So I am disqualified from competetive play by lag. Why even market your game to my country Anet? If this is such a PvP focused game now and we have such a collossal basically disqualifying disadvantage, then it seems pointless and greedy.
(edited by Esquilax.3491)
I was shocked at first that this class is basically a melee with a couple of aoes and ranged attacks and stopped playing it, but after a while I grudgingly came back and started to get used to it. It’s no steriotypical mage archetype, but it certainly does have its own unique flavor from other MMOs.
I thought that condi cleanse trait only works if an attack is actually dodged?
I came across a D/F viper burn build on youtube the other day that looked pretty fun. 100% burn duration, You can stack over 10 burns easily on low cooldown and if you do the full spell load you can get upwards of 25+ just from yourself.
Anyone trying this? Looks more interesting than a boring old zerker staff build.
LET THE PLAYER DECIDE!
Necromancer is just god mode in PvE, especially if you take that talent that automatically death shrouds on fatality.
Engineer is pretty complicated to play. It’s like having 4-5 different weapon sets with no swapping cooldown. You need to swap between each constantly when skills come off cooldown for optimal play.
They take like 25% longer to harvest with
Considering these cost money for a literal downgrade in node harvesting capability I can’t help but feel a little bit ripped off.
Could you at least place a warning on the item description that tells the purchaser?
I’d also like a refund / exchange for a different one that works normally if possible.
Please Anet
Firstly, I have no friends and I have tried advertising in LFG for this achievement for over 3 hours today and no one joins.
Secondly that’s clearly an exploit, not that I am against exploits and I would use it if I could find someone to help but honestly it’s not a legitimate solution to the broken problem.
I Just spent forty minutes working on the single worst achievement ever conceived “Leave It To Me” which is an HoT Act 2 story achievement that involves soloing a veteran modrem wolf as a rabbit without reviving allies, I got the wolf to ~10% health which takes a monumental amount of time and effort, then the game kicks me with Network Error 1022:5:1:874:101
This has happened several times to me on this particular mission at this location, it’s a bug in your game.
EDIT: I got it done because someone eventually joined my party and we both exploited the Fire Elemental Powder and Ogre Pet Whistle at the same time (advice taken from the Wiki) to kill the modrem wolf for us. Still a terribly designed achievement imho.
(edited by Esquilax.3491)
They are poorly thought out mob packs for the simple fact that some classes like elementalist can stomp them with AoE and others like Rev have it rough as nuts.
I was thinking about how massive and epicly scoped GW1 was earlier today.
Didn’t have a single iota of money grubbing in it, either.
Anet has massively monetized this game, this is SO much worse than it was at gw2 launch.
While I can’t really blame them, it kinda makes me sad to see the clear transition from making an awesome game for gamers, to “how can we milk these walking wallets more effectively”. I feel almost dehumanised by them.
This hero point is supposed to be gated behind Adrenal Mushroom Mastery (a little box pops up talking about the mastery and what it does when you start it), but people are using mesmers and regen food to circumvent that.
My guess is they want to fix it so there’s no way to get the point without using Adrenal Mushrooms Mastery.
Literal god mode.
Now I want to see these chars.
Post their pictures.
I vaguely remember spending a while on the look and ending up liking it but I have no idea why I copied it a number of times. lol :P
It doesn’t matter what we think. We aren’t the data and are a minority. They clearly have some very smart person(s)working out ways to manipulate people to spend more money than they want to.
Good for them.
I can’t be the only one who’s woken up on Sat/Sun morning with 8000 gems worth of skins and 3 of my asuran characters total make-overed to look like headlight stunned animals about to become roadkill.
Jumping Puzzles are fun.
Totally blown up. Can’t load recovery page, took me 10 minutes to load these forums but every other web page I visit is fine and loads instantly.
I found it funny the #2 bow skill on DH is basically Kill Shot but doesn’t need adrenaline and is on a tiny cooldown…
Was Modremoth fight even tested? (spoiler)

So many glitches, and they happen on a consistant basis, and are not freak occurances. I can’t even fathom how this made it into the live game. It’s the final mission, the CLIMAX of the entire expansion, and it bugs out so often.
I’ve only done this on 2 character so far and 3/4 attempts I have had to quit and retry which is like 15 minutes wasted for nothing.
Chaotic rifts don’t trigger properly sometimes, which breaks the mission (restart)
Sometimes the finisher does not work (restart)
Here is the latest travesty I have witnessed during this fight, I had to restart because Braham opened the rift in the air floating where I can’t click it… (Thanks Braham)
Honestly the climax of game is completely broken, and you’re more interested in pumping out cash shop crap than fixing it, good job Anet…

It would break every pre HoT map.
As much as I want it to happen, I know it just won’t.
