It was fun while the events and stuff were new l. Now it’s just a fat grind. Oh well guess I got my money’s worth.
I’m traveling through the new zones as my Tempest (which I love). I am having extreme difficulty though. I’m fine when I stay at range and dodge attacks with a staff, but if I try to Overload one of my elements I generally get killed in 1-2 hits extremely quickly when I walk near things (I swear Overload Element has a built in Taunt).
Tempest has so much Protection and self heals. But all that’s useless in Berserker gear because you can’t heal when you die in one hit.
I’ve read accounts of people saying changing to tougher gear doesn’t help much and you still can’t tank things, so it’s best to just stay as berserker and dodge. But I just want to check with other peoples experience to make sure before/if I make an investment in tougher gear.
these weapons aren’t just celebrating light sabers, they are also celebrating an irl discovery.
Highly misleading headline on that article, which leads me to wonder how accurate the contents are. The article boils down to “we’ve found a way to make photons bounce off each other, which could theoretically lead to something like a light saber one day.”
Clickbait ftw
What a stupid change.
They should copy WoW and just tone down the effecrs of other players spells, not completely destroy the visuals on your own skills.
“Nor wiking all the recipes from the mystic forge.”
I really like this game but this one is a huge negative for me. There’s hundreds (thousands?) of materials with no way to even know what they are used for without wiki-ing it. After wiki-ing the 400th item I forget what the first one was for.
The wiki is just too intrusive on game time and there should really be some type of in-game indication for recipes.
Black Lion Keys are pretty simple.
Don’t buy them unless you are willing to lose every single time.
You could buy hundreds of them and not get anything good. That’s how Anet makes money, they prey upon the weakness of gambling addiction.
Seems like a pretty stupid and advantageous method.
How does encouraging players to use gems to buy keys to get cool stuff work if you don’t get anything cool.
Hell, if I would have at least gotten 1-2 cool items from the 30 items that I got, I’d go ahead and buy more keys in the future and use more of my money to buy gems. That’s a pretty smart idea right?
But no, I guess giving people nothing cool and exciting and just taking their gems and making them never want to buy keys again is a better idea, lol.
Exclusiveness is what makes things in these games cool and exciting. If they gave everyone who opened 10 chests a Black Lion claim ticket, the weapon skins would all be worthless, like a few silver each.
The bloodlust one provides the greatest benefit with the condition/drawback being it takes a while to build and you lose it when you die.
Might sigil has synergy with sup runes of strength, ensuring you always have the +5% damage bonus from the runes.
Fire and air sigils offer minor burst that triggers fairly frequently and do not require any babysitting.
The 5% damage and 7% crit are fairly straight forward.
I believe they are all mathematically similar ataround a 5% dps increasr except the Bloodlust rune which peaks at a over 10% increase.
That website is horrendously broken
Personally I am not surprised.
TP = Gold = Gems = Income for Anet.
As with most things in the game, it’s a tinly veiled money grab.
I am familiar with the glider controls by now.
If you tap jump you don’t glide.
If you hold jump you glide as soon as the game allows (seems to be the pinnacle of jump).
If you tap, and then tap again later, it’s usefull for breaking falls and getting to lower areas.
In my OP I am talking about when you hold jump, although I have tried tapping and it doesn’t work either/seems to be worse.
This shouldn’t happen. It should always deploy at the pinnacle of your jump, instead of X milliseconds after, X being your latency.
Gliding should be in the same category as movement. Why doesn’t the base game delay your movement every time you press W,S,A,D ? It doesn’t because that would utterly destroy gameplay, making the game literally unplayable, so the server compensates for your lag and the other players see you delayed instead of you seeing yourself delayed. This should happen with gliding too. as little as 200-300 ms (which is pretty good for an Australian) is a significant altitude loss, throw in random fluctuation of sometimes up to 500+, and some glides aren’t even achievable.

Same Issue.
edit:
Thanks Nautzera, worked like a charm.

I leveled one recently. I found sitting in shiro stance with sword and autoattacking with the quickness stance up is the best damage. Not exactly the most engaging gameplay, but it works. The #3 killing spree type attack works well against a single target.

Has this stop you from getting anywhere?
Have you tried holding the space to deploy it quicker? Here I made a small illustration to explain why this is bad

Something about that site caused my Firefox browser to throw a hissy before having a seizure. :<
I am sorry, it is a really cool site, it lets you draw pictures and post replays of you drawing them (artpad is site name) but I made a paint one instead.
The zerg I followed just told us to cluster up in a small section of wall and AoE heal/dps
Did the trick, I didn’t even know what was happening tbh, but we killed him.

This is bad design. The glider only deploys after taking your latency into consideration.
As an Australian, this means with my average ping being 200ms (absolutely no way to lower it), I will have to fall 1/5th of a second before the glider pops, losing me considerable altitude.
Tonight I am lagging for whatever reason, with 500ms. Falling for half a second before the glider deploys, I might as well not be able to glide at all. It’s useless.
This is one of those game technicalities which should ignore your latency and compensate on the server side. It’s honestly the same level as pressing W and your character taking 200ms to respond and move forward. It does not happen because this is compensated on the server by delaying the response and showing other players you move 200ms later, instead of forcing your client to move 200ms later, which would literally break your ability to play the game (sorry hard to explain this, but this is how it works).
Anyway, I am enjoying the new zones, but this is a big complaint for me.
Both maybe?
Apples and oranges indeed…
I’m just having a blast leveling my Rev through old content and the Halloween stuff, haven’t played in like a year so I’m rusty, but that just makes it better
Can’t wait for gliding.
I think you have to buy a gem store backpack. They come with 2 items – the actual backpiece (which has no stats but is not soul bound) and the skin for the backpiece ie plush char or whatnot. Then you can Transmutation the backpiece to the blank one, and transfer it to another character.
I think the gem store backpacks are the only non-soulbind on acquire backpieces in the game.
I’m guessing it has something to do with loot psychology. They have a very firmly implanted gambling reward system in this game. So much randomness. You probably get more “endorphin” having to click the loot box 88 times instead of clicking once.
Think of it like a poker machine. The enjoyment comes from pulling the lever over and over. If you could just insert $1000 and pull the lever once (and lose your money) it wouldn’t feel that great. But if you insert $2 and pull the lever five hundred times, at least each time you feel like there’s a chance you can win, and there’s the anticipation.
They want us to keep playing, they want us to keep buying Keys from the gem store, so they will leave it at click-per-open.
I’m currently doing world exploration completion and I’ve recently been toying with the Hambow PvP build just to get a feel for it. I altered it to include Thrill of the Kill and the end result was me being able to open every pull with a 30 adrenaline Combustive Shot and perhaps throw in an Earthshaker for more might.
This is quite fun to play with due to the fact that PvE enemies are easy and die very quickly, thus granting the 10 bonus adrenaline, combined with the Burst Mastery trait this will give you 20 Adrenaline automatically each kill, the last 10 to fill your bar seem to come naturally leaving you at 30.
To the point of my post: I am just pondering about the possibilities of Burst skills with the conjunction of these two traits. For example, I’m wondering if there’s a better PvE weapon switch to use with the Longbow burst than the Hammer? What about instead of opening with Combustive Shot, perhaps using a Rifle for Kill Shot + another weapon set?
So many possibilities. I’m keen to hear any suggestions for this kind of chain-kill farming gameplay.
I’ve only just started playing again recently:
Marrionette was not a zerg, had to use map communication to split the passages and describe strategy for the non-enlightened. I only had that event succeed about 5 out of the 20 or so times I tried it – Zerging would definitely not work.
The Wurms – All people did on my realm was Zerg, and we never completed the event to my knowledge. Heck I gave up after 10+ tries because it just seemed impossible with a random mishmash of people, half of which had no idea what to do.
Escape from LA – This was thought to be a zerg initially (first few days) until the word slowly started to spread you need to rescue 1500 citizens, not just train events. Now that it’s been nerfed to 1200 and people are knowledgable about “rescue 1200 = reward” there is little to no zergs involved. It’s actually really fun just doing a search and rescue on your own and teaming up with small groups of 2-3 people you find to take down bronze/silver enemies to allow citizens safe passage.
Every world boss I’ve played has just been a massive, uncoordinated mass of players swarming and rez spamming though. Not impressed at all with world boss content.
All of the infinite use harvesting tools have a special effect: You don’t need to constantly spend silver to replace your old tool. That alone will save you a few gold over the next few months.
As much as this post makes no sense at all, I would really quite enjoy seeing a swarm of Piranhas swimming through the air devouring my opponent
Airship pass and multiple load screens
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Esquilax.3491
How about making the game check for the pass when logging back into the Captain’s Airship? Currently the game does the following when logging back into a character who logged out on the Airship:
Loads Airship > Kicks from Airship> Loads Gendarran > (have to use pass again) > Loads Airship
This is obviously a gigantic pain in the kitten considering how populated Gendarran Fields is right now because of the LA event, each load screen is 10+ seconds.
I am proposing the following substitute:
Loads Airship > Check inventory for pass and doesn’t kick from airship if pass is detected.
Thanks for your time.

Go D/F.
I used to play scepter and although it’s fun, Most of the DPS is loaded into Dragon’s Tooth and aside from the opener, successfully landing a second Tooth without being mangled by the enemy is quite difficult. Then when you switch attunements Fire goes on cooldown which means you have to start the next fight in a different attunement which is pretty annoying because really Dragon’s Tooth is where it’s at.
When I switched I noticed an immediate boost in survivability. That knockdown from Gale + Obsidian skin should get you through most veterans without a scratch, not to mention there’s a daze from Comet and 8s of chill to kite with.
The damage output is also much more consistent. Sure you can burst with your firefield combo’s but the majority is from Lightning Whip which has a decent 300 range and hits fast.

Same issue here, ledge that you jump from is missing completely and there is graphical smearing where the ledge is supposed to be located, which points to this being a bug.
Any tips? Currently being chain 1-shotted at least 3 times per wave of enemies. By the end of the event my equipment is nearly full red 20s repair… Will switching from berserker’s armor to Soldier’s armor help much? Should I use different traits or something? Most of the kills are seemingly random and unavoidable, can’t see anything on the screen anyway with 800 players casting spells.
Playing a thief and trying to keep my distance with Shortbow but it’s not really helping.

Does the Airship have a Black Lion trader (AH) ?
Amen to this. The greatest thing about GW1 to me was hunting down Elite Skills with Signets of capture. That and the fact that elite skills didn’t suck horribly…
So the Asura race seem like a bunch of Scientists and Engineers. Not just by trade, but by nature. This leaves the question nagging at me “Would my Asuran Elementalist really be using the imperial system to exagerate his hight”?
On one hand, yes using feet as a rough, easily vocalized measurement is convenient, but on the other hand the Asurans seem way too scientifically inclined to use such a type of measurement.
Taking into considerating some of the idle banter I hear in Rata Sum I’m inclined to think that this voice acting for gaining might should be “I feel 1.8288 metres tall!”.
I’m up to the Orr area in exploration. Long story short I’m getting annihilated by pretty much everything. Using scepter/dagger with a fresh air build and berserker gear. I’m wondering if there’s a different trait build or weapon setup I can use to make this area easier. I plowed these zones on my Mesmer and only had a few deaths, mostly to fall damage.
I’ve been absent from GW2 for most of the time since release, only logging in occasionally every few months to grind out some levels or roll a new character. As a result I’ve been kicked from the few guilds I’ve been invited to, so I don’t really have anyone to go to as a mentor. I’ve just hit 80 last night, it happened during the “Megadestroyer” world event in Mount Maelstrom which was some good fun.
Now I want to continue clearing zones and world events in the top level zones, but firstly I would like advice for a solid survivable world event (zerg?) setup in terms of equipment and traits/skills. So far I’ve been using S/D with zerker gear (30/20/10/10) and Lightning Hammer for “I can’t handle this without unleashing the noob hammer” moments. Which has worked quite well, except Dragon’s Tooth can be pretty irritating with its delay sometimes.
I’ve got very little gold and I just wanted to double check before going and blowing it all on zerker rares.
Importantly, I have no idea where to spend any of this stuff (see pic) and what on, or if I should be saving it for later.
Thanks for your time.
I have this problem in WoW… They released the “Flexible Raid mode” and I was willing to give it a shot…
First day all I see is “520ilvl required” when I’m at 505. I promptly gave up. I bet by now (2 weeks later) it’s up to “550ilvl required and must know fights, pm me achievement for killing Garrosh to get invite”
I wholeheartedly disagree. I’m what you people call a “Locust”, this term seems to be specific to the GW2 hater community though.
I log in every few weeks for a break from other games, and I’m welcomed and greeted by some new content to explore, have fun with and then move on.
I always wanted the murlock pet from the first Blizzcon but never got it. I got over it.
What’s so bad about a gear treadmil? It gives you a fresh start to progress your character again. Progressing my character is, for me, what PvE is all about. If my stats stayed the same till the end of time I would feel like I’m not making progress. PvP is a different kettle of fish and all stats should be normalized.
At least in WoW you have a new environment to progress in, like a new raid or new continent and whatnot.
Is it too hard? Respect the awesome work

I found W2 Z1 doable, barely.
The things I found most annoying were the unpredictable mechanics of the rapids (you can easily get “slurped into them” when it looked like you made a perfect jump), and the spin flowers not actually launching you where your camera is facing.
Oh and the fact that the boss blew me off the edge of a cliff after I defeated him, making me lose the baubles & that precious continue coin (down to 1 now….).
(edited by Esquilax.3491)
Monkeys in the SAB run past me (to the place I was previously standing before I moved) and I get hit. Sometimes it’s believable that the game could have seen that I moved too late, fair enough I just need to predict the future a bit. But other times I am blatantly 3-4 character widths away and these attacks still hit me.
I also notice when jumping on mushrooms that there’s some serious delay (about a second) from when I land, and when I launch, which makes it difficult to smoothly launch between mushrooms, to say the least.
Is there a command like /ping or something to see how much I’m lagging?
I’m in Australia with a top notch optus cable plan.
It just doesn’t make sense in this type of game where items are supposed to give a very minor performance upgrade. Why would I bother? I would bother in world of warcraft because an upgrade in that game is actually meaningful / a big boost to character power.
Fighting Alatreon for the solo quest “The brilliant Darkness” made me kitten my pants IRL, I was squealing like a small child in fear. Amazing game.
Yeah I remember having actual conversations with players in story mission outposts in GW. I don’t think I’ve even typed more than a few words to a random play I met in this open world of GW2, there’s no need and no point apart from common courtesy (eg “thanks”).
I’m no expert but they could just make the weapons scale down in PvP.
I sympathize OP. It says right in the description that it’s a random dye from a set of 25, six of which are new.
What you’re guying an a chance to get something special, not something special.
This is one of the biggest mistakes Anet has made in this game. It’s one of the reasons I boycotted those dyes and never bought one.
So there’s a 24% chance to get a unique dye then? That’s not too abysmally low of a chance.
I have heard claims and claims that there is a larger casual base than a hardcore base…. but is this really true?
Yes, by a far and large margin. I mean like 10 casuals for every 1 hardcore player. It’s in the companies best interest to market towards people who are either just picking up the game for the first time, or who own it and log in every now and then to have a gaming session.
I’m going to be naughty and reverse the question.
If I could impliment one thing from GW2 to other MMO’s it would be the jumping puzzles
Not to be cynical or anything… well I guess it is, but I think it’s obvious why queen Jennah is the only pet you can get from the birthday present.
So you have to buy minis if you want them. Anet is a business after all, and the game store is the income model they chose for this game.
