did not count, but played about i think 60 games and had about 53 losses and 7 wins. first evening went ok, but until yesterday morning just losses. no more pip. i was also mid diamant last season and ppl i know who are more worst than me, are mid saphir today, because of a winning series. it is all about the mmr. if you are get in a bad one, you can not really get out there anymore alone. you need really really good players who pull you out there. i am always on every match person with highest points. i know, does not say much, BUT… how will you win, when you have 130 and worst player of your team 10? you can not fight 5 enemys alone. you have no chance until you are in that worst mmr because of some matches in a row (i played with wvw friends and we just lost) bu we are friends, so i did not care that moment.
for me the new system does not show the better players by having a winning series. they are just very very lucky to directly started well and get now a good matchmaking. started maybe with a team that evening or whatever. this system is the worst matchmaking ever seen.
even if the mmr comes from last season…. yes, until ruby it was more harder solo-q. so i do understand where it comes from.

one game today to explain… i am scrapper, 4 of my players mid fighting against 4 enemys. all the time dead and downstead. instead of taking care of the other points. i ran mid, where calling targets (what 90% of ppl not doing. why???) burst my damage as good as i can and stomp all of them. got the feeling i was everywhere same time. ok, all enemys dead, 2 of my players still on the point. i left to decap other point. before i arrives there, i saw on minimap one enemy brought 2 of that ppl downstead. so tell me…. what can i do with a team like that? what????

Don’t judge yourself and others based on personal score. You said it is meaningless but you still regard 10pts means bad performance.

I remember there is an ESL game in which Zan from 55 rnk dragon got only 5 or 10 points but the team still won.

So I’ve finally looked into this build and its basically a more refined version of the condi build that people were trying in the HoT beta.

Considering in the HoT beta shield block lasted longer, alacrity wasn’t nerfed and the other elites specs weren’t as strong I don’t know why everybody is suddenly deciding this is amazing now when it wasn’t that great then.

Because many other mesmer builds took huge hit from alacrity nerf and power creep on some other classes.

So comparatively, this one performs the best among our builds.

So every time I see the opposite team has tempest while we don’t, I know it is going to be a hard game.

I try to tell ppl to not team fight against tempest but it is easier said than done.

Well, at least we are definitely better than guardian and warrior in this meta. Probably even on par with ranger and thief. This is already much better than my expectation.

Glint Shiro is quite a bit tougher, but still manageable.

Scrapper is without a doubt better than mesmer.

And necro… necro is necro.

Mesmer is able tokill every one of this classes but it will notbe a burst. Killing all of them takes ages, and most of the time there will come rainforcement before U put them down.

The problem is that if we were able to stand a better chance against meta builds, we would be OP again because of portal.

So when I am solo queuing, I had a 15W – 1L record.
But when I queue with a friend who is not very good(hard to say no to friend), I only had a 4W – 3L.

I find mallyx rev super hard for me. The only chance is to strip their resistance by sword autoattacking.

I really dont care if it can compete on ESL level. For the every day matches in ranked pvp it is more than good enough.

It is even worse in ranked because of no coordination and failure to take advantage of portal and moa.

It is only good against bads who random dodges all day long and eat full shatters.

Historially, power shatter mesmer has been running around with no condie cleanse for the longest time.

That aside, I would suggest decrease phantasmal enchanter(and all phantasm skill) cast time to 3/4 sec. Bring back mantra background recharge but increase their cool downs to compensate.

Lol! Mesmers are still great. Great team support with portals, moa and cc.

Yeah, it is decent but still far from any of the meta choices.
The best it can achieve is to compete for a spot with druid, daredevil, dragonhunter for the last spot on a team when the 5 different class rule gets enforced in ESL.

I think after you get a losing streak longer than 5. It is a good time to stop and reconsider your gameplay. The chance is that if you keep playing, you will keep losing because you didn’t perform well and you are also getting more tired. You can’t expect to magically get a few good players to carry a win for you.

Think about how you lost the games, what went wrong. Current meta tends to generate snowball effect much more easily since ppl die if they are not careful.

Good gameplay from 1 person cannot make up for moronic team mates. I and a guildie both started the season at the same time soloqing so we were at the same level for matchmaking, he got 11 straight wins I got a raft of moronic teammates in every match who couldn’t even manage the basics of the game mode. I dunno what it is but anet are going to have a lot of disheartened players who may quit within a week.

Then again, it is a good time to stop. Bad teammates make you mad. As you get angrier, you will also perform worse. You probably don’t notice it but it will gets into your mind.

They will have a bit of influence since some of them got the chance to talk to the devs. But overall, I just don’t see how the balance being heavily influenced by them.

Last meta, you have diamond skin ele and resistance stacking revenant. Obviously, condie mesmer won’t get popular.

But now everyone gets squishier. Condie mesmer does pretty good damage so it rises to the most popular mesmer build.

So in this new season you have new rule:
winning always get one pip, losing always loses one pip

Then here is the question, shouldn’t the matchup system try to create a as even as possible matchup?

Uneven matchup is less a problem in season 1, because you tend to gain more/lose less pip in a game where odds is stacked against you. But in season 2, it is highly unfair for the inferior team

Yes, I did win that game. But obviously red team has all the tier2 players, has more premade parties. Blue team is clearly the weaker side here.

Why doesn’t matchup system distribute more evenly the players into these two teams?

I just had a fight against a 3 man and duo on the enemy team and all soloq on my side. What kind of fix was this? A fix for ants?

Why can’t they split the 3man party and 2man party to two teams?
It makes no sense to stack all odds on one team with the current pip gain system.

Remove ContSplit, Nerf Chill, etc.

My suggestion on scrapper:
Hammer skill 2 3 4 need 10% damage reduction
Hammer skill 5 cast range reduced to 900

Hammer trait increase ICD to at least 15 sec.

Why does it need evade. Explain.

A 1.75 second channeling skill. After activation, you gets locked into a triple leap animation.
W/O evade, this is like the easiest to interrupt skill in the world.

Rocket Charge should not evade, simple as that.

Rev needs to get shiro and herald defensive traits tuned down.

I play too little necro to say what they should do with reaper but I always found cleansing five conditions and applying five conditions on a target on that cooldown was ridiculous. By now condition damage is so common I don’t get how necro gets away with dealing 200% better with it that other classes. In comparison a warrior shout willl cleanse a single condition and that’s it.

Rocket charge actually needs evade. It also has interruptable frames even now.
The problem is that they moved a GM hammer trait to adept so now scrapper can get a lot of stability which makes it extremely hard to cc them.

Necro damage pressure is simply too high. For most spec that has limited condie cleanse, one staff 5 then a staff 3 you are pretty much dead

I am thinking about getting into WvW with ele and want to play frontline.
Obviously the idea of going shout/aura share/soldier rune is quite nice.

But I am also interested in the possibility of going cleansing water/durability rune. Would that also work out? Because in addition to zerging, I also want to roam with 1-2 friends. It would be great if I can accomplish both with one set of runes.

There’s no crow to eat because the Mesmer proved its just not viable. Making an appearance doesnt mean it’s effective.

The discrepancy in team skill stopped the mesmer not the mesmer class.

You’re saying that the mesmer’s poor performance can’t possibly indicate that mesmer is poor because the team was bad, then you turn around and say that the mesmer is clearly viable because it showed up in the tournament, despite having just claimed that you can’t tell anything about the mesmer due to the bad team. You can’t have it both ways, either it means something or it doesn’t.

I’ll say it again. A pro team went with mesmer for a reason and didn’t consider guardian, thief, or warrior at all.

That’s literally it. They chose mesmer because we have portal. Not because the class outside of portal is even remotely good.

Our class is better off than those 3, and you literally can’t deny it. We are not trash tier. We may be at an under powered level, but we are going to have to see how our utility pans out in this new meta.

Based on what? The only team that took a mesmer got dismantled. Yes, I know, the team played badly, you’ve already mentioned it…but it’s nothing short of lunacy to use the fact that a team brought a mesmer as mesmer being viable when that team got massacred.

Until you can give an argument more intelligent than ‘but a team that got destroyed brought a mesmer so mesmer is viable’, you’ve got absolutely nothing to say.

It didn’t matter what classes Rank 55 ran against PZ….they were that much better than them. So coming to a conclusion on how well mesmer works in this meta can’t be done.

What conclusion can be made is a pro team decided to run mesmer b/c they saw something in our class. I can guarantee you that they’ve faced Rev, Rev, Necro, Ele, Engi in their scrims with the abjured (who just happened to run that comp) before the finals.

Still remember the awesome feeling when being able to interrupt ele burning speed. Interrupting those evading skills really caught your opponent off guard and benefit a lot from it.

1. Change well of precog back to its old form, giving evade, maybe increasing CD to 50 sec
2. Remove the aftercast of GS auto attack, like they did to ele lightening whip ages ago.
3. Add “Increase slow application time by 33%” to the GM trait slow time
4. Normalize all phantasm summoning time to 3/4 sec.

Actually, I want to suggest swap Furious interruption and confounding suggestions. But given how poor the power shatter mesmer is currently, I wouldn’t want it to happen.

So condie mesmer should be playable in ranked when the opposition team composition is not optimal.

But against the composition 55 and abjured ran, I don’t see mesmer having a chance to be competitive at highest level.

If it were viable, you wouldn’t see misha playing reaper now.

DH’s biggest strength is doing damage in teamfight and auramancer directly counters DH by providing reflection and AOE stunbreak. Now you also have scrapper bringing in reflective field. When two of the meta choices directly counter you, there is really not that much hope for it to come into play

Now compared to other classes. How many of their utility skills are not used? How many of them got locked into 3 mandatory trait lines. How many weapon sets are considered useless?

Except Mallyx needs rework bc hes a mess. What traitlines you see used are devastation/corruption (based on build), retribution as mandatory and herald as mandatory as well. Everything else doesnt matter.

Staff is terrible and mostly used for block and surge, then you have sword/shield (shield not really a viable choice nowdays) or mace/axe for condi. Then we have hammer which wasnt competitive and yet got nerfed thx to wvw putting it below trash level.

Idk but i dont really call it variety by being locked into shiro/glint 4ever and sword which is a mess.

Well, ESL final says other wise.
You have devastation/invocation/herald on toker as well.

I was kind of hoping we would at least see a single guardian, but I guess that likely wont happen till scepter, hammer, sword & the 50% of traits that are crap get some love which is unlikely to ever happen.

Sad that there is still so much stacking going on.

LB DH is too easy to counter. Unless there is another good DH build not revolving around LB, they won’t have the chance to be on the competitive scene.

I mean, there is also druid, gunflame warrior and wildfire warrior have both seen some good use, and they are competitive in the right hands. Condi-mes is powerful, the only class that I haven’t seen used much is elementalist, but this seems to be a problem where the class is perceived as bad instead of actually being bad… AFAIK the only nerf they took was to condi invuln…

Also, Guardian hard counters DD, necro soft counters DH, engineer is a good all-rounder, druid out-sustains reaper in the right hands, etc. Balance is in a really good place IMO

Yeah, balance is good if we only consider 3 classes: scrapper/druid/reaper.

I think the god tier will only be reaper/scrapper/druid.

DH will be countered by an aurashare tempest in a team fight and die to the god tier easily. Daredevil is strong in good hands but still has its limitation.

If we have a team like this: reaper/scrapper/druid/herald/tempest. It will be pretty much super sustain all over again.

You should probably consider a mix of celestial, marauder, crusader for tempest bunker
For runes, durability/trooper/radiance are good choices.

But try to look up some build guides for eles before you start making your own.

Trick isn’t to nerf everything. Diablo 3 after 3 years is moving into the top mmo slots. Why? They only nerf exploits, the rest is move the classes up to par. Their current endgame content is similar to fractals but the difficulty scales infinitely. Their classes are all within 4 levels of difficulty that they are able to complete after their last balance patch.
So let’s stop throwing around nerfs and throw solutions.

D3 is all pve mindless farming. Of course it is fine to powercreep endlessly in that game. Also I wouldn’t call that game an MMO. Everything is 1-4 player instance in that game. I can’t call 1-4 massive…

WvW and PvP in this game is completely different animal, you can’t reasonably compare these two with the same standard. Imagine if you put PvP in D3. The balance will be hilariously bad and won’t be even worth playing.

Last but not least, 4 levels of difficulty sounds small? Each level of difficulty represents 17% health difference in that game. 4 level difference translates to (1.17^4 – 1) = 87.3% of difference. Imagine we have that much of difference of dps in gw2…

You won’t have enough keys to get 30-40 per run if you only play DS.
You have to play other 3 maps to get currency to buy more keys. So the total time you spent to acquire your leadership rune is still pretty much the same.

We are kinda in the same situation as warrior in almost every single game mode.
PvE: Brought for buffs, dps not so great
PvP: Underwhelming but have a few gimmicks to play
WvW: In zerg, brought for 1-2 utility. Roaming, again a few gimmicks.

Congratz, Mesmer are the best to not QQ.
