That’s because helseth. His build won’t be playable in most ranked plays by regular players. I would say even himself can’t play that in real tournament when he faces players of equal skill.

His build is harder to play than all other meta builds combined. Complaining that build being OP is ridiculous and shows how little ppl understand mesmer.

I don’t think it is as simple as that.

You need to properly judge if it is a close fight, a won fight or a lost fight. Staying in a lost fight will lead to a complete teamwipe, making it extremely hard to come back. The team will die one by one and respawn one by one and get farmed.

When you lost a necro or an ele in a teamfight, it is almost clear that it is an unwinnable fight and ppl should disengage and regroup.

Some suggestions are nice but I feel this is a bit of overbuffing.
They really need to nerf a bit of current strongest specs(I still believe they will) so they don’t need to powercreep mesmer by that much to compete.

I agree with the list above.

Just to want to add a few more here:
1. The offhand shield is OP compared to other weapon sets. Tides of time may need some shaving.

2. GS damage is not enough in current meta. GS autoattack aftercast should be eliminated, similar to the treatment to elementalist lightening whip. GS3 remove maybe 2 boons.

3. Sword trait is underwhelming . The ferocity stack needs to last longer and maybe gets easier to stack

4. All phantasms cast time normalized to 3/4 sec. Many phantasms are too weak to justify the long cast time(disenchanter e.g.)

5. Precog well. Completely useless now after the over nerf. It should at least gives continuous block rather than pulsing aegis. I would highly suggest change it back to evade/distortion with slightly increased CD.

6. Improved alacrity. The effect should be increased from 50% to 66%. The hard nerf of alacrity needs some compensation. This change won’t affect PvE at all but can increase QoL of power mesmer in PvP.

7. Lost time. Underwhelming at the moment. I would suggest adding ‘slow application time increased by 33%’ for this trait. This can lead to some new way to play chronomancer.

I myself winstreaked to sapphire T4 and got stuck a bit. Then I started to duo and got another winstreak to ruby T4. Then I mixed solo/duo into diamond.

We duo que everyday. The 3 other baddies you get tho…

I was partied with shovel and sticker when they were close to getting to diamond. We had a full party and i think we went 3-1. We crushed 2, close game on 1 and did decent vs the team we lost too.

Its just hard because alot of us dont play a ton of games. So it kind of sucks to see sticker, shovel and kanto fall back in tiers when they were so close. Its odd because we were not in TS but when we were full party it was easy and everyone kind of knew where everyone was going. And everyone could call out what they didnt like rotation wise.

Even when we were in a party of 3 it was bad because the 2 other players just were not on the same page as us. I mean at this moment i only play 3-4 games at most during 1 sit. If our 5 man team that day decided we were gonna do it. We probably all could of hit diamond after 4-5 more games.

We even duoed, Trioed, quad yesterday and that other PUG members have absolutely no idea what they were doing (one engie kept going far the entire time and dying over and over again)

I guess it is time to start communicating at the start of the game. I think there should at least still be some nice ppl around that are willing to listen to advice.

As a mesmer main, I do not agree with some of your proposed mesmer changes.
Staff does not need CD reduction, it is a fine weapon

GS needs autoattack aftercast reduction. GS2 maybe fine. Power mesmer still has high burst. But now we have pretty much no sustained damage.

Shield 4 needs the phantasm to be inline with other off-hand, shield 5 change is fine

Mirror of anguish change makes no sense. We already have confounding suggestions

Restorative illusions change would make it completely OP. Current version is already very strong and provides one of the best condie cleanse for mesmer.

Nerfing slow trait on chrono line also makes no sense. Slow-related traits are already the worst in chrono line. That GM slow trait needs buff rather than nerf. I would propose add ‘increase slow application time by 33%’ to that GM trait. This gives power mesmer chance to give more sustained pressure when burst is on CD.

Just got out of Saphire T2 after being stuck for few days, thanks to a decent Mesmer, people should seriously reconsider it in the meta because it’s really broken in team fights.

I have been playing ele/engi/mesmer this season. Mesmer is not on the level of the 4 meta choice yet(ele,engi,rev,necro) but I believe it is tied with druid as the 5th best after those.

You really don’t have to leave a profession to play another profession in this game.
Especially with the expansion out, the skill floor has been significantly reduced as well for nearly every profession.

That being said, I really believe the current pvp meta for mesmer—condie shatter is pretty decent. It is actually the most enjoyable build I played with. I can play with the my two favorite weapons sword and staff(never liked condie mesmer before because disliking scepter). The build still has portal/moa making it valuable in both teamfight and skirmishes. It also has better 1v1 matchups compared to power shatter.

Lord definitely needs an HP increase.

And… my very next match was against 4 dh and a reaper. We lost by over 300 points.

That is the time ppl should profession swap and easily counter that composition. One auramancer + 1 bulwark gyro engi easily counter that.

Given equal skill, scrapper wins overtime. But the fight can take some time though.
Scrapper simply has too many for druid to handle, reflect, slick shoes, moa. If scrapper moa’d at he right time, he will land the kill for sure.

Realy depends on the team and map. On legacy it can backfire more easy.

I would say legacy is a much better map to push far especially if far means waterfall.
It is easy to survive on waterfall while much harder on mine. So if your home defender gets a though matchup, he can have the choice to go mid instead.

500-200 a close skill team?
not really a team have made very bad decision, skill is not 1 vs 1, skill is understand what’s going on.
let out the lord, ok in foefire can end 500-350 and it is close, sometime.
but
500-250 means that you hold 2 point and enemy 1 for all the match. is a bloody bath.
500-300 probably they hold 2 point for 1 minute…

You are disillusioned if you believe there is a matchup system that can give you <150 point difference game consistently.

Go and check out last year’s WTS final TCG vs Abjured vs Orng. I am pretty sure players from all those three teams are close in skill level. But count how many games can qualify as being close by your definition. Very few!

Even at highest level, you can’t achieve close score let alone lower level play at ladder where games are way more volatile. Form of players on the day, coordination, class composition, randomness of gw2pvp all contribute to uneven games.

Swapping phantasmal fury and master fencer is a very solid idea. I would second this.

If the fight is long enough, if you cap bleed duration and have high enough crit chance, you can easily maintain 50 stack of bleed from your duelist. That is when the third pop (after 16 sec without alacrity), every 7 sec, the three duelists apply on average 9 stacks of 12 sec bleed each so yes, around 50 stacks of bleed all the time after something like 20 sec of ramp up. There was a post on reddit where the guy said this single target condi build was like 20 k dps on VG… so not so powerful but quite good though.

I think the buff of the duelist trait was intended to not move the fury trait.

To be honest, I am kinda suspect the 20k dps ppl reported. I tested condie mesmer damage in PvP lobby. The damage reaches as high as 6.5k -7k dps. This is slightly less than condie engi’s damage and comparable to condie warrior’s damage

However, in real fight environement, others benefit from quickness and alacrity while our phantasms do not. This really should increase a bigger gap in dps than in PvP lobby.

500-320 is not close game, in season 1 this was ‘wow that was easy’…
is near 40% difference between teams, is huge.is a 5 vs 3.
less than 20% is a close match for me.

Sorry to say your definition of close game is kittened and your logic is srsly flawed.

Even very close skilled players may end up with a game score like 500-200. On a map like foefire, it is very easy to snow ball a teamfight win to a 200+ point lead.

For me only when one team gets less than 200 means lopsided game.

I think d/d is probably the best roaming set. d/f is good but ride the lightening is really good in open field. If you go with d/f, you will certainly need teammates with great mobility.

Trait wise, I think you will need Tempest/Water. The other trait line depends on your style. Earth/Air/Arcana should all have their advantage.

How about they change Fury to grant 420 Precision? Then just delete PF…

Make it so boons have ZERO affect on illusions, but change them to scale with percentage modifiers on us.

OR

They could swap the positions of PF and Master Fencer. PF is desirable in all mes builds, condi and power alike. Fury is also an extremely common boon, which makes MF pretty ‘meh’ Grandmaster minor in many situations, but with the way boon priority works, pets rarely get it.

Swapping phantasmal fury and master fencer is a very solid idea. I would second this.

Current system is trying to make your ladder place reflect your MMR.
It achieved its designed goal. But whether it creates enough fun games for everyone is very debatable.

Unless you are an extremely experienced mesmer player, you will feel the class being pretty underwhelming in this current meta.

The condie meta build is decent but tolerance for error is low and you need very good map awareness to be effective.

They changed a whole bunch of skills’ visual effect to reduce visual noise a while ago.

However, I really don’t think the old aura effect were causing any visual problem. Those auras are very important to be aware of in a fight. Current aura visual is simply too weak to notice. I have to constantly check buff bar to know the aura status. So I really hope Anet can revert the aura visual to its old state.

This new system is already trying to match you with teammates of similar MMR.
Pick a time when there are more players playing, your experience might be better.

I also feel sometimes I lost because of an inferior team composition. Trying to profession swap to fill the hole in my team seems to help quite a bit. But unfortunately I can’t play all 4 meta profession at the same level as my mesmer.

I still like to see a good thief more than an average any other class….
It is not as strong as the main meta choices but in a good hand it can do very well.

The only class I can’t say so for this season is probably warrior. They simply bring nothing to the table.

I have more problem with players tunneling visioning onto the node alone!

Players do need to go off node when receiving too much pressure, you only need 1 player on node to contest it. Some builds lack sustain on point and are better applying range pressure. Sometimes players get ganked midway when rotating. The ganker is usually revenant or thief. It is very hard to disengage them if you just run in a straight line towards the node. You might as well be dead if you do that.

I remember there was one game I had a teammate being downed by two ppl just off the node. Both me and another engi are close to the node. It is much better for us to revive the downstate teammate(engi excels at that!) and create a 3v2 favorable position. However, the engi decided to capture the node instead. I was very surprised that he didn’t come rez and had to give up rezzing myself. We gave up a much better position because this engi pigeon holed himself into a node only nothing else mentality.

The counter is heavy-cc focus fire.
Reaper is currently the king of 1v1, dishing out high damage if being left alone in team fight.

What you need is a 2v1 or even 3v1 focus fire to take them out quickly. It is the best to train them on revenant and thief because of infinite gap closer.
