The PvE will always be a predictable environment after players figure things out. So it never creates a hostile enough environment to force players to go tankier.
In WvW and PvP, you see much more prominent usage of defensive stats. e.g. in PvP, the meta has always been marauder amulet instead of zerker even for the burst damage spec.
best team structure for me is probably tempest+druid+condie reaper+dh+revenant.
Revenant can be swapped to scrapper.
Tempest is current best support. Druid and scrapper are best bunker and bruiser. Condie reaper can somewhat neutralize the current boon heavy composition. DH for obvious reason. Revenant roams extremely well with high tolerance of error.

It’s time for WvW megaserver now. Just like eotm but with a much longer match than 3 hours.
3 years, they show absolutely zero love and zero support to this game mode. It deserves to die.
Just succesfully did the meta on a pug map. Basically spent whole afternoon trying to do it on the map and finally done it on the third attempt.
It is definitely a bit too overtuned for pugs. The current difficulty seems more appropriate for a guild event. I would love to see it being adjusted for some harsh scaling on certain lanes.

But it is clear that Anet just doesn’t want to invest in enough resource in fotm to make it better.

Hey guys, I am also working on my yggdrasil and I have a different problem.
It seems I can’t get the exotic item, spirit nature to drop.
I farmed the event at queensdale several times, I farmed a lot of oakhearts in queensdale and gendarren. None seems to drop.
When I was trying to get the exotic for my mesmer shield collection, it drops from the first steam creature I killed. Don’t know why this one is so hard. Is it possible it is bugged as well?

If it was wrong, which it isnt (as you can see from the overwhelming responses here), Anet is not going to change the system. Period.

I am a bit worried about the number of masteries required for raid.
Really don’t want to go back playing hours of adventure to get the gold mastery.
DPS role is almost always harder for beginners compared to bunkers.
Glint/Shiro marauder already has pretty good sustain among the dps specs(DH might be better at sustain but can’t chase down mesmer/thief as well as shiro revenant). It’s really the top choice for team roaming role at the moment. You simply have to play more carefully.
If you want the kinda spec that charges in and soaks up damage, this is not the right build for youl
Probably all necessary support + sinister/viper engi for dps.
Unfortunately the profession-specific MMR is not in use. So if you play a relatively unfamiliar class trying to get wins, it can sometimes be frustrating.
Also playing classes like mesmer/thief, you have to rely on teammates a bit more because your ability of contesting and holding point is kinda lacking.
Don’t particular like FA playstyle and also don’t think they will be able to push T1. They simply have more players than SoS and TC at the moment.
Give it another month if you are willing to wait.
If by then, neither of the servers open up, then your only chance of playing together would be transferring down a tier.

Population balance will come from the Queues. That has always been the deciding factor. When waiting becomes impractical and boring, players will move to a place they can get right in. Not only will it help balance across matches, it’ll help with coverage too. Because the problems aren’t from too many players, it’s from having too few players.
The next question will undoubtedly be, but what about the lower tiers… Unfortunately, Anet mistakenly over estimated the number of servers required at launch and needs to rectify it. Either that or simply make an Alliance level that Worlds can join into.
Overall, empowering the player is the solution. Players want to PLAY! They want good matches and they want to have fun. They are willing to move around to create this. It’s Anet that’s starving out and depleting WvW right now.
btw.. I didn’t say to leave it open forever, just right now it’s needed for a couple weeks to get things balanced out and running again.
I am afraid you got the player mentality all wrong.
There are plenty of players who would be happy to sit in queue for half an hour just to see their server winning both the ppt game and the zerg fight by sheer numbers. Only hard-core WvWers would be intimidated by queues and move to servers with more vacancies. Again, just like hot-join game. There are players who would rather wait there to join the winning team rather than hopping in and just play.
Even with a transfer cost implemented currently, players still pay to join the winning server. What will happen eventually is that server that are losing will lose players quickly. Servers that are winning will also lose players eventually because it gets boring. So the end result is that the whole WvW game mode loses population.

Have you tried turned your graphics settings down? I used to run max settings all of the time without problems. Since HoT hit, I crashed every single time during Teq until I followed the recommendations from others of turning the settings down. I select best performance, turn the sampling back up to native, enable AA, and bump the model settings to medium.
The game is nowhere near as pretty, but I haven’t crashed during Teq or a large HoT map ever since. When I’m done with a crash prone event/map, I bump my settings back up and go about my day with a pretty looking game.
Yes I did and It didn’t help. Low or high setting, I always have that one nasty crash that seems to happen at the most inconvenient time.
The problem with this is that players who did not contribute at all will be able to hop into the map to leech the loot. I’d suggest holding off on any changes like this until they fix/reduce the crash problems and/or find a way to get those who crashed back onto the map.
I am really not sure which takes them longer to do.
1. Fix the OOM issue
2. Let players who finished the event to rejoin.
Currently the chance of crashing is really high. Almost all my crashes happen either duration or right before the loot phase.
If you can’t fix the server OOM crash problems, plz at least allow us to join back to our original map that we spent 2 hours working on just to loot. It is so frustrating to crash out immediately after the dragon mouth is defeated.
As for if chrono is viable or not,t hat remains to be seen, but it’s definitely looking promising.
You’re surprisingly optimistic. While not as dead as the warrior, chrono is not in a good spot right now. The only savior would be some balance patch, fixing the power creep.
We actually have a pretty good spec.
The problem is that DH and Revenant completely overshadow us and daredevil now counters us hard again. I think ESL mesmers will fall back to the traditional sword/torch/portal/moa approach again.
I really want to play with staff and shield. But considering the following fact: DH can hit hard from range, revenant have infinite teleport with unblockable attacks, thief still deadly to us.

From whati hear you simply cannot get away from them coz of slows, repeatable blinks due to ability reset and god knows what else they got given. I’ve heard nothing but complaints from every roamer i know about them, basically if you’re not a mesmer you’re pretty much dead as i’ve witnessed one of these chonomancers kill 3 people with relative ease.
But hopefully it’ll get a nerf…………………..in about 18 months which will be 12 months too late coz WvW will be dead anyway.

Slow won’t prevent you from getting away. Only conditions like chill and cripple do so.
Mesmers have always been strong in WvW dueling but terrible at chasing down anyone. Every popular roaming spec can get away from mesmer easily. Blink is at 30 sec CD so you don’t have repeatable blink at all.
If anyone want to chase down other players, thief, engi and warrior do waaaaay better than mesmer.
Last but not least, mesmer/chronomancer is at a very balanced state in PvP. Stop crying for nerfs due to some of your pathetic WvW observation.

Yeah, many other specs are also strong but no way any of them is close to the god tier that DH is at.
People do need to adapt to DH but their traps do need to be tuned down as well.
People do need to l2p against DH.
But your claim of it being subpar against good player is false. If you feel so, it is also a l2p issue for yourself.

DH traps are just broken w/o cast times.
All ranger and thief traps have cast time. I don’t understand how DH traps are instant.
Traps are designed to be strong because they need to be triggered. DH’s instant-cast trap really trivializes the trap usage.
Proposal: Please put every DH trap cast time on 1/2 sec.
DH is definitely the most face-roll spec we ever seen in this game.
Ty for the thread. I guess the take-home message for me is to not spend much time on fractals anymore since ascended box has always been the biggest incentive.
This seems to be a problem that causes a lot of frustration from players, especially when it happens during the looting phase. You will be completely denied a chance to join back with ‘network connection error’.
I hope someone from Anet is aware of this problem. This really should be high on your priority fix list since people can’t enjoy that last epic fight anymore. All we are doing is to pray that there will not be a game client crash.
If you can find some friend with experience already to help you out, you can make significant progress very quickly since a lot of stuff has been figured out and now easily obtainable.

But I am all for nerfing adaptive armor. Complete passive trait like this should not give such a high reward.
Not gonna salvage any of my ascended piece until I have all other things for the legendary armor. It is pointless to have those mats stored early.
Frankly if you are in a group with someone, it should hold that slot on the map for you, period. Untill every last person in the group leaves the map or is kicked or DCs…the entire group’s slots should be considered “reserved”.
This alone would save many headaches.
It’s not ‘reserved’. You still have to spam your way in just like anyone else.
Actually, why people don’t find SOS being a high server able to compete against Full server weird in the first place?
I think it is because SoS is OCX heavy while majority of ppl posting here are probably NA in which SoS has much smaller number outside EBG.

I feel reluctant to do this map now because of constant crashing happening.
Yesterday I crashed once when the boss was at around 60% health. Luckily I got back in.
But many others crashed when the boss is at 5% and completely missed the final reward.
Yeah, the dragon mouth is cool but all I was worrying about duration the fight was how to avoid crashing rather than killing the dragon. I basically kept my action to minimum.
This is really degrading the enjoyment of the game.
I don’t think I will do the event again until they manage to keep the crashing problem to an acceptable level.
That’s typical PvE. People need some time to learn new things but they will learn fast.
It will be pretty okay difficulty after a month.
The only thing I am concerned with is the constant crashing and not being able to get back to the map you spent a lot of time working on. Has anyone figured out the best way to avoid it?
And Anet plz try to figure out the problem asap.

I already got my elite finished, and they’re catering to the whiners…yet again. it took me only 4 days….
I also finished two elite specs last 3 days but I am still one of those whiners.
Because I know there are so many people who don’t like spending hours on HP unlock or WvWing. You need to think for the majority instead of being pure selfish.
If some one unlocked 200 HP in central tyria, it would probably take them 10 hours to do so. I think unlocking their elite fast is well deserved.
25/40 instead of 40/40 definitely makes way more sense. Now you only need to do those relatively easy to reach(only requiring like first few masteries) to unlock.
Man, that’s the reason why we keep giving feedbacks. This is the company that listens and cater to majority players’ need.

It certainly will not but some of its ingredient can be. There are still two missing ingredient and people would wonder any of those two are for event time only.
Scrapper, herald and dragonhunter are the first tier. Strong and relatively easy to play.
GS 1 is one of the best ranged attacks. cant be reflected, pierces.. almost too good
While in ranger land, they complain so much their staff auto is bad although it does 90% of the damage mesmer GS does at 1200 range at all range.
I do have to agree that dps wise GS1 is pretty meh. The upside of it is its synergy with on crit sigils and non-projectile attack.
Both revenant and guardian have really good passive anti-cc traits now.
I feel I shouldn’t even F3 any of them cuz the result is that I will actually hurt more by cc’ing them.
