DD ele was not some support build you are claiming.
It was everything. It can hold point, decap point, win every 1v1, sustain 1v2, outrotate anyone but thief.

burst stealth classes make burst classes without stealth a real mission to play, so it’s no surprise most no stealth classes run bruiser or bunker builds tbh.

Long stealth is just one form of crazy sustain.

It makes even less sense if you need that 5% difference in raw power to do raids.

There are already more than that level of power difference between professions. How are they able to fine tune this to make sure every profession is viable.

Everyone and his daughter are playing super tanky builds. Tons of dd ele, bunker guard, mm necro, soldier engi, pu condie mesmer. Not fun at all.

none of those builds is “too much bunker”….. It was a bunker-meta when multiple players on a team ran a bunker-build, which couldn’t be killed for long times even with two ppl.

Nowadays, every build can be killed with 2 players. Worst case scenario is, that you maybe have to think about which builds you send to kill a “bunker”.

Didn’t ppl complain like 2 months ago that the whole meta was too squishy and everything dealt too much dmg? There’s no pleasing you guys. :P

Currently bunker are too effective. Even more so in relatively unorganized everyday queuing. It’s not rare to see 3-4 bunkers each team. To get a 2v1 kill is possible but usually not worth the time. You also still have dd ele that easily survive 2v1 and rotate to other points. Soldier engi, to a lesser degree, also does that.

As long as you can kill a bunker with 2 (semi-)DPS chars, bunkers aren’t too effective.

And guess what, you cannot balance a teamgame around random Q’s: Yes, even a semi-bunker is “too tanky” if ppl don’t at least focus it. Well, a total glasscannon is too tanky if no1 attacks it as well.

2v1 kills not worth the while? Well, if you atk a full-bunker with 2 low-dps chars that had to walk to the point very slowly and take 2 mins to kill it, then it isn’t worth it, for sure. That’s why there are specific characters for such “+1-situations” that deal heavy DMG and are very mobile, Thief or Mesmer for example. If you kill the target quickly and leave the right ppl at the right places to defend, a 2v1 kill is totally worth it.

Ppl need to begin to understand that there are very clearly defined roles and well though out team-compositions in this game. If you wanna run around in solo-Q’s, at least know what your character is good at and which situations you should search for and which ones to avoid.

literally 90% of the whine-threads on this board can be solved with very basic understanding of how such team-based games should be played: understanding roles, rotations and basic strategic movement on the map. This stuff isn’t rocket-science.

I totally agree the balanced should not be around random q’s. The reality is that if you go watch ESLs. It is even more obvious it is bunker meta there. There are way less deaths a game compared to pre-patch. It is pretty much all super sustain spec forever.

You can even go back watch WTS. Red Levin in his interview said it is sustain meta. Helseth in his stream said several times it is sustain meta and he doesn’t like it.

Also the bunker I am talking about is less about a role. These specs can usually take more than one role in the team game and completely negates necessity of other types of builds. To make things worse, they are also the easiest to play specs in the game. So surely everyone will gravitate to playing those.

They just should add Agony damage into raids. It will prevent non exp players to enter it. They will just die in a moment, and learn.
I think, at start it will be too hard to find a normal party to run it, because everyone who hit lvl 80 few dayes ago will think that he is a good player and can handle everything. The same problem have TA Aether now for example(a lot of ppl who just don’t know what to do there, and even how to play).
Difference between asc and exo gear is 4-6%. The only reason to have asc gear NOW—Agony.

That’s not true. I make ascended mostly for WvW. It’s 5% base damage increase and more stats. The end result is almost one GM trait worth.

Also if you have a non-meta statset for ascended you’ll need to start from square one even if you wanna raid.

Exactly. I have hated the ascended requirement for fractals for a long time. I can’t experiment different style w/o investing for a new ascended set.

This is essentially breaking up the veteran and newbie gw2 communities.

I have recently created a guild with my friends and got several new players joining. With FULL ascended requirement, I will never be able to raid together with these guys.

If this becomes reality, it would be the worst decision ever.

So yeah, chrono is almost always a direct upgrade to Mesmer, but that’s primarily because base Mesmer is simply bad.

This puts a lot of pressure on the next Mesmer elite spec they come up with, needless to say…

Well, how about focusing on keeping improving the base mesmer. At least I see nothing but improvement on this class since June update. I have hope it can get better.

You only take this trait if you want the cdr on interrupt.
Bleed is awful to start with, you probably only need a bit as a cover condition.

Given how many ppl don’t like condie mesmer(I also don’t like), it will probably never be a thing in high-end PvP. Also when druids come out, their healing wall will completely kill off your clone condie pressure from both staff and scepter.

Only spec that can die in this meta is like warrior. And even they have double endure pain.

Thief dies pretty easily too, hit them once and they are down to 10% hp and then apply like 1 or 2 condis thief will be dead.

A half-decent thief won’t die either. The current meta for thief is also full sustain and utility.

But I do agree, damage is so pitiful.

I think it is mostly a complete lack of damage skill.
3,4,5 are decent utilities. 5 may need a bit cd reduction. A bit underwhelming compared to lb4. 4 should be more than just a bleed condition from pet, need some damage increase as well.

So I would love to see damage increase to skill 2. Currently most SB rangers only spam 1 and using traps to do damage.

Nerf conditions (necro / ele / burnguard / engie), buff risk / reward gameplay (medi guard / thief / axe warrior), possibly make kills worth more points to encourage killing rather than turtleing.

You know what. I actually find burn guard to be the only spec that can kill things now. I would rather burn remaining strong.

That healing wall gonna be really popular. It is on 16CD traited, no cast time. And you don’t need to worry about retaliation and stuff. In addition, it doesn’t compete for a utility slot like guardian’s, mesmer’s or scrapper’s.

Be careful when you compare anything to Revenant counterpart. Rev’s skills have both energy cost and cd. It has to be balanced differently.

Actually ranger is good against those long-stealth duration mesmer.
Just take sic’em. Really put them into panic mode.

Longbow also works great as long as your 2 hits the target, it will continue hit even if target goes stealth.

Traps are another useful tool against stealth gankers. They usually lack condie cleanse. Being hit by a trap is hard for them to recover.

Last but not least, you can use stealth disrupt trap to troll them.

The shadow step daze is most likely steal+basilisk venom. Yes, it is hard to avoid. But after you play more against thief, you can somewhat guess when they are using it. It is mind game.

If you successfully dodge that steal, you put the thief in a very bad spot. It is worth gambling.

Celestial form is crazy strong. How new druid will perform in PvP will depend on how often you can go in that form.

Staff also great utility weapon. The teleport skill on that weapon alone can justify its use. I have high expectation of this specialization. I think it will not only be viable in PvP but has the potential of being OP after some clever theorycrafting.

Our number is growing on SoS but far from an overkill blob.

Two weeks ago, we were so short-handed against TC and FA. Only our OCX crew kept us in the ppt game. Now we finally have numbers to compete. It is good for both the server and the tier.

Druid line provides healing, condie cleanse and cc. That’s a lot of useful stuff you can pair with two other ranger lines.

It is not a braindead healbot as someone claims. It looks way more amazing than the revenant’s ventari line.

In an intuitive MMORPG system, movement is for positioning and getting around obstacles. Your combat performance comes from knowing your class, knowing your rotations, knowing your fights, theorycrafting and itemization. As far as I can tell, GW2 has all of that — rotations are pretty simplified, okay. Itemization seems like a failure based on my limited experience (specifically with PvP). But, do I have to seriously develop muscle memory for dodges?

Rotation is simplified because one good enemy dodge completely negates your rotation. You have to be more creative when fighting other players. You can’t really stick to that simple rotation.

And it’s the same as other games here. The combat system here is way better than 99.999 percent of mmorpg. If you can’t enjoy it, it’s your problem.

It’s funny that as some players claim thief is at its worst state, the class can still take almost a guaranteed spot in competitive teams. While other classes they complain about, sometimes can’t even get a spot.

As a mesmer main, I am fine with it.
It basically means your stealth duration gets cut by 25% for PU build. Very acceptable. Currently the meta PU mesmer build doesn’t even need mass invis to survive. If you have trouble surviving, just take mass invis you will be fine. Yeah, you will lose a powerful moa or time warp. But I call that a fair tradeoff.

Surely the nerf hurts quite a bit. But now I attribute the problem more to the sustain meta rather than lack of damage.

Most other zerker builds also struggle with bursting people down. At least we still have pretty strong shatter.

Are you kitten kittening me? That’s not an overnerf at all, it’s an entirely appropriate balance change.

The only people who needed the full 40s of Stealth we could get from old PU were WvW Roamers, and kitten ‘em. How many times do we need to explain that the game simply doesn’t allow for roaming as a balanceable playstyle?

And soon everyone who is on the smc-owning side can get 2min stealth buff. Proof again they don’t care about WvW roaming in terms of balance.

I will say this Pyro, the movement increase they got seems better than ours XD.
However, they have a lot of heals and not a lot of damage so I’m not super worried about them. Granted the reflect could be annoying and I do like the new pets.

They’re just gonna have a bad time if anet doesn’t implement some sort of ‘assist’ system for tagging/credit.

Tagging on druid?
I think the best way is probably just go tank and use that elite glyph skill. It will be on 16 cd if traited.

This meta is all about sustain. Even if you go zerker, you prioritize sustain over damage. That’s why SA thief and PU mesmer are the meta and they are very hard to die with some additional help of vampirism runes.

The number of people who oppose QoL features that don’t harm them in any way will never cease to be amazing.

Devaluing the objective usefulness of an item and by-design progression of a mechanic is not a mere QOL change. This change, for whatever quality of life it might bring, actively weakens the case for even getting ascended gear (something ANet doesn’t want) and actively damages the ability of someone to enhance their gear further by playing Fractals a lot.

Again, you are falling into that old type of MMORPG hell in which you gain better gear to get that superiority. Why can’t we gain that superiority by just skill and experience alone. After all, ascended armor can be made by purchasing gold easily. It’s not like something super prestigious any way. You will still be easily outclasses by rich kids in terms of gear.

As a mesmer main, I really feel the only nerf I can accept is to PU.

This PvP meta has already been super sustain. Every meta class has ridiculously high survivability. Players should really get punished more for their mistakes instead of having 100+ panic buttons.

The last thing we need is keeping tuning down damage and help people survive. Shatters all have very clear visual tell. If you can’t dodge it, then it’s your problem.

Most mesmer players like mesmer as a high risk high reward class. PU, one one hand, helps less experienced players play the class more successfully but have other players feel really frustrated fighting against one. So I think tuning down PU to a level that satisfies both should be the way to go.

There is no need to suggest me how to maintain a fifty-five AR and how to farm ascended items. Already have full set of ascended for all armor tiers and some more boxes in storage.

What I am suggesting here is simply a QoL change that should really benefit everyone. Nothing is removed from current system. It’s merely a divorce between AR and ascended armor. No one loses anything. It surely benefits new players more than veterans. But I don’t see anything wrong with that.

That’s fine it doesn’t need to be more powerful, I just don’t think it should be left as this obscenely expensive unsalvageable-by-conventional-means equipment that gives a tiny bonus to attributes. The infusion part of it is the primary reason I made it to begin with and the secondary reason to help justify getting it being that it gives me a negligible edge in combat.

I’m more casual these days too but that’s just because I have nothing else to do other than learn how to play different classes. This would be fine, but the level of enjoyment and motivation is pretty low when there aren’t any new enemy mechanics/environments to explore.

The idea of making every single thing in this game as easily accessible as possible doesn’t sit well with me; I don’t see what the problem is with having a small bit of content pleasing those that do enjoy some form of progression. Catering to the majority is logical, but completely shafting anybody out of that majority isn’t a good call imo.

You feel bored because of lack of new content. Setting and maintaining a gear check doesn’t solve your problem. As I said, obtaining ascended armor is mostly about farming which has nothing to do with one’s ability to do fractals.
