18 might stacks aren’t the same anymore either. 18 might stacks after this patch is roughly equivalent to 15 stacks of might pre-patch. Remember the 35-30?

tbh, thief is kinda usless at 1v1. i spent 3 hours dualing in wvw (not spvp) and won 3 fights- (they might of been meta 1v1 builds and i was my standard roaming build but still) . forget about all of this sneak up rubbish, if they see you then its an up hill fight for the thief.

Yep I noticed too, never suspected it was because patch. Dreamer sounds a lot worse now. You should chance topic title to ‘legendary projectile sounds bugged’ (to make it more clear what you are talking about).

Who uses Blinding Powder? — I surely don’t. I use D/D, D/P, S/D and P/P and I don’t see value in taking Blinding Powder.
Start from who ever uses this and see if this change has any significant effect.
I don’t see any advantage on using this. If you do use this, please let us know how this is affect you and your build.
I’m curious to know what made ArenaNet think this is even important.
I use the utility BP to stealth allys when we run from a zerg, a few seconds stealth can still confuse a lot of zergling’s. yes we all know shadowrefuge can do that “better” but that means standing still for 4 seconds. or when an ally is about to get stomped also I use BP to imbo people with the short bow sneak attack. it isnt just the stealth but the aoe blind can be anoying too. This is when I play full sa in wvw 2/0/6/0/6 and trait for master of deception
there is a lot of thing’s you can do with this utility. i have even used it to set up a back stab from 800 range away and steal in. I use this both offensively and defensively
also its a blast finisher xD

Only you can keep your self alive, no 1 else. I sometimes dagger storm zerg drive in eb sm fights and manage to stay alive, that is playing at 2/0/0/6/6 – 2200 armour.
I think you can play any build, once you get focused on what you are comfortable of what you are playing trait wise then you can make anything work. no toughness will stop a high evis spike, and no vitality will stop condi pressure. so its down to the player more then anything I think.

Now i am not 100% sure what what anet thought of this option to play as pvp, but when i saw this, I saw this as to practice to pvp and learn but instead it is full of experienced high ranked pvp’s syncing… why would you do that ?
This is not a QQ thread, i left the match way before i even got to that stage. I am just not sure what the crack is with this arena option, why does it have a “practice” option when its not, its just a farm area where people sync up – you have your rank 80 or what ever, why farm inexperienced people ?
at least change the name of that option?

Can you either stop trolling, and or moaning now, it is getting rather pathetic. Just accept that you either suck in pvp by playing the meta (wvw) build – it doesn’t work and you proved it doesn’t, or listen to people that know what they are doing. the thief forums are normally full of troll’s and not 1 trollish or childish reply have i really seen in this entire thread, its mostly been legit advice.

So i have just started doing pvp and wow! i suck!! i made a video mainly for my self to watch and see what i can improve on – which is a lot lol!

This was in OS a few months ago. I forgot what food I had, but i am sure it was 100 power and 70 vitalty. anyway this is vs another thief (he might of been bad gear) but i was running d/p 3/0/0/5/6. no crit strikes.
6k is easy to get with heart seeker, and in wvw the power creap is pretty crazy. some focus warriors hit me for 13k evis!

My thief has all ascended gear with mostly valk stats for added vitality. I don’t really wanna change anything again if I don’t need to.

well, fully ascended thief here. 2/0/6/0/6 s/d wvw roaming spec’s. i had a stone on so i change to condi crystal just to remove the power buff. but this is what you can get as slandered. Armour is mix zerka/pvt and valk. trinks are mostly valk with 1 zerka and 1 piece cavalar

In pve land there is the mega server, and if you are grouped with someone on q different server (not map) you can right click the player and request to join their server. This is great when people get a dc from say, killing tequtle and rejoing the server after you logged back in from a dc. Can something like this be added? I mean in pvp you join a “team” but cant you guys make it like a party/group?

so, atm myself and like a lot of people have shadow step and shadow refuge as #7 and #8, but the last slot i am unsure what is better. infiltration signet vs roll of initiative. both are great but i am not sure what is best to use.
i have come from a wvw background and I use a lot different skill’s for #9, but lately i have been using infiltration signet. but in spvp i have been using roll of initiative. both work amazing but i am still not sure what would be the best to use.
Tbh i dunno why i am asking you guys this because its my mind that will choose the last skill, but what would you take?

Hey people, fellow haters and lover’s of thieve’s!
first of all i would like to intro my self. I play a thief, have done for a year now and I have just hit 1k hours on it, but I feel and I know I should know and play better then I currently do. I mostly play WvW, raiding with guild as a worker warrior or playing thief roaming sometimes with fellow guildys or random times in EB.
I fail a lot on 1v1, not because i am a thief, but because i lack the knowlage of other class’s and more inportently the confidence as well. i remember years ago in other games I use to love going out of my way just to find some 1 to fight, win or lose, i never cared (i won mostly though) but as i got older and wiser i have lost my ferociousness when it comes to pvp. i would rather WP then even try to 1v1. but it is getting to the point where i am even getting fed up with even going in to wvw now because of that. i know nobody is invincible and I am meant to lose fights (who dosnt?) i am competitive but i have lost my fighting spirit and i am hoping s or tpvp will bring it back with the instant fighting rarther then OP stats vs wvw roamers.
So to my point, i want to get into pvp, so i can learn to fight people better, even if i give my enermy a good fight and lose, its better then just sticking my tail under my bum and run. i am not sure what my role in pvp is, i prefer to play s/d 2/0/0/6/6. and also, what kind of game i should play? ht join or soloQ ? the guild i am in sometimes does tpvp but i don’t want to ruin their game for the sake of just tagging along.

I am still not sure why the sa trait line is considered as training wheels, in what way exactly is it designed for new thieves or baddys? I think going acro is a easier then sa simply because of the feline grace the extra 3k health and hard to catch (it can play up but rarely this has failed me)
I use 2/0/6/0/6 in wvw as s/d and I run the sa traitline because spamming dodge isn’t my style, neither is hiding in stealth all of the time but at least I get something from stealthing (clear 1-2 conditions and some small health regen) also my party roams and is normally out numbered.
Do people say sa is noob/cheese/easy mode because it can reset a fight a bit better then a non sa their? I feel that them 100% 6/6/x/x/x are even easier as its just 2 hit kills most of the time (we are squishy already before people point that bit out)
So can some 1 actually explain why sa is considered as training wheels?
Oh also I do not play in pvp – not a fan of a game mode where you have to pidgin hold your self in meta builds to play it.

This is what I run in wvw, yes I use sa oh no! For pvp/duel’s I will us acro but for wvw I think its better with the added sustain and Condi removal.

Hey again guys. Just to clear some things up here.
Indeed the coat was chosen for a reason. There is has been some discussion’s that I have hearing about how toughness works and a good sweet spot is to aim for 2500 armor for the highest income % dmg reduction, 2600 is like 8% even less dmg income and going up to 2800 is even stronger. After 3200 -3500 the % reduction is minimal. Anyway my point is that @ 2500 armor I will take a lot less then 2400 and as I said I feel I have more then enough burst with my current crit dmg and power so I decided to try out the pheory of 2500. Although I don’t have my target of 2500, the wvw bloodlust is nearly always up which boost’s all stats slightly.
As for the fire vs force. I would of taken fire if not I didn’t already have the 15% dmg buff from dagger training and the 10% vs targets with condition’s. With force I get a 20% dmg buff.
You guys may hit harder but my back stabs still inflict some nasty dmg, I managed to back stab for 10k and cnd for 6.8k on an enermy thief.

Regarding competent Condi user most of the time when you get Condi bombed its game over regaurdless of full sa or not.

Hey so after the black powder nerf to x/p #5 and the s/d nerf to skill #3 i decided to go back to the good old d/d.
A lot of people have split views on shadow arts tree, some clamming its just as cheese as playing p/d, some say its for training wheel’s where as the other side people say its a very good trait line and that “its needed” to play d/d. i agree to some extent on the needing the s/a tree but not all of it at least. this build is not new, nor should it be thet I come up with.
I wanted to play burst d/d but with out going to glass so I tried to make it as high statted across the bored as possible. (good toughness with vitalty, strong crit chance and high crit dmg and high power)
I have not yet played with the grandmasters traits yet but that might be next.
I could of gone for the power/crit food but i felt i had enough crit dmg so i went for the extra vitialty with power food.
Now i have only been in wvw once with this, and it had a lot more dps then what x/6/6/x/x does but obviously it lacks the sustain from shadows rejuvenation, my back stabs alone does nearly an extra 1k dmg compared to the other build (this was on an npc guard)
anyway what do you guys think on this version of d/d and has anyone tried 0/6/6/2/0 and go with POI in acro with strength runes?

they are both situational i think, for 1v1/dual i would take brawler’s. you can simply laugh at p/d with that trait. i assume it will also be as effective vs condi warrior and other primary condi spamming builds.
may be the block trait is better for grp fights ? i dunno. like you said brawlers dose nothing to a condi bomb. and all sorts of stuff happens in grp fights lol.

Tried the might stacking spec and its far better then my fire/air sigil version with pact runes. Hit this poor thief for a 6.5k back breaker lol

What I don’t understand about some people that they give it the biggen by saying s/d is the best and most fun, or its the most challenging weapon set to play and slate how lame/cheese (what?) p/d is. Instead of working around this nerf by using cnd more often to land LS (I am sure there other tactics too) you give up on this high risk build for the p/d spec. Where is the logic in that?
Sometimes I just think a lot of people don’t try any more tbh.

its not the going into 4 points that i was saying nickname, its that you go into arms tree which gives you a tone of crit chance already – most warrior builds will have easily 45% crit chance if they was to go 4 in the arms line so i kinda felt having another 10 more was a bit unneeded and thats with out fury.
however i do agree on the spam 1 1 1 1 bit, its happened to a lot of other buff’s and its happening to the rapid fire buff on the LB.

So a lot of traits on most classes will have a dmg % buff and or a cool down on that weapon set (example axe mastery – deal 10% dmg using an axe or slashing power – gs and spear dmg is increased by x%) ect ect, you get the idea.
But with the sword trait in arms line (blade master) all you get is a 10% extra crit chance while using a sword in the main hand, I mean thats pretty pointless considering you need 4 points in to arms anyway which gives you 200 precession.
Can anet rework this trait so that power swords get some kind of a buff like all other weapons on all other classes do?

Nice video! And its pretty much the same build I use, only different sigils. (I admit I don’t have the infusions yet)
I was using pact runes which gives me 41% crit chance and was relying on air and fire sigis on sword/sheild for some nice aa dmg but I will try might stacking. Also I use sigil pc energy on the hamer.

I heard that having 2500 or 2600 armor on a medium armor class is a sweet spot so I guess that’s why. When I play d/d I like to have something like 2600 armor and 15k health, just because I have no vigor income – this includes 219 crit dmg 41% and 2450 power.
But when I do play trickery or acro lines (s/d or s/p) then I do drop some toughness for some more zerka stats.
But also people like to play yolo and go full glass, each to there own I guess lol. Still happy with my 8k back stabs

What game style? I mainly wvw but I would pick final thrust any day simply because of the weapon set it is on. Nike warriors can run sure, there are a few places in wvw where you can leap with #2 where enermys can not jump (escape) my final thrust range’s from 6k to 9k depending what I hit.

I think its a good thing too that adrenaline goes on a misssed burst. The losing adrenaline out of combat is a bit to quick compared to that on gw1 but its just a minor inconvenience really.
I don’t really notice much difference with the signet of rage too. Brawlers recovery is pretty nice though.
Still using the same build which is sw/sh and hammer or lb
I don’t pvp though I just do wvw so I dunno what it is like in pvp.

Well, even if the thieves is blocked/blinded/evaded the writing will give you a rough idea where it is. If you really want to be picky over stuff like this then a warriors sheild stance should only block from the shielded side only and not all around the warrior.
