The 1 thing that I find annoying in pve is when people as “when is xx bos due” in map chat. I always say “alt tab and Google gw2 boss timer” we had to, so can they. It’s even worse when the pre events start and people still ask. I will gladly Hellp people do quests, reviving ect.

I use this for most of the time, pvp wvw and pve. Sometimes I change things depending on what comp I face in pvp but that’s what I use. Oh and sigil of leeching on sb for pvp instead of bloodlust

The hell is wrong with people? Thief has always been able to play in pvp (fair enough last few months were hard but still playable) people need to stop being bt hurt or stop feeling sorry for then self’s of the class and just adapt to a changing game, and what a change! Tbh though i found strong hold is the map to have the most fun on as a thief.

I do that more often. What I meant was trying a none ranged weapon in pvp. I spent most of the weekend as staff/shortbow or s/d shortbow, but not tried sd and staff. I don’t think it will be better unless it’s for dueling.

On topic. I don’t see the need for both dd and acro, seems over kill. Da/ trickery/dd OR acro. But dd offers more then acro traits do.
Still able to succeed with just dd da and trickery, going to give not using short bow and try staff as 2nd weapon set

In pve I find that this skill and dash hard to use resoucefully. What I mean is, both are great at getting out of harms way, but they both move so fast it’s hard to actually get and “evade” and so traits don’t proc. It W’s also quite tricky use it in pvp as well (on pvped Las weekend). Might be a case that I just need to time them better.

Was playing da (mug, panic strike, exe) dd, (weakling trait, Condi removal on dodge and dash) and trickery (torc, trickster, soh) using withdraw and the new elite. I was happy with the results. Surprisingly, an s/d thief was a bigger threat then a d/p thief. Only played solo unranked in strong hold with staff and shortbow. Which I felt that staff or even s/d is a much better map for thoughs weapon sets.

seriously do research and learn to counter instead brainlessly whining DH is too strong wah wah wah.
Why would people do that? It’s easier to log on the forums and bloat out a bunch “wah wah wah” instead of playing the game.

Glad it worked for you. I am still running 90% zerker. 14k health and 2300 armor. But I also get a 50% crit chance with no bonus things like traits and sigils(sure I use pack runes)
Dmg wise you haven’t lost much as I can land up to 8-9k vaults. I won’t change my gear yet until build editor is updated for new Trink stats (marauder)

I use to have a windows phone and would get that “error” a lot. Now that I am back on an android I have never had that. I think that it’s a phone issue not at up loaders issue as I watched it fine on my phone.
Nice game play! I tried out da/dd/trickery for the first time in pvp, and boy is it fun to play! Using staff and short bow (I still can’t let go of the short bow lol) the new dash trait is awesome too! -10% dmg and 13 seconds of swiftness is so use fulL. Still need a lot of practice but i don’t think staff will main weapon in the future

this is the problem with sticking to 1 set (d/x) it rlys toomuch on stealth, and even the burst comes from stealth, now all of a suddon a trait line that dosnt rely on stealth comes out, people struggle with it. currently using da/trickery/dd as s/d and its amazing! the weakness on crit hits, the remove condtion on dodge and the sprint on dodge too (-10% for a few seconds and the awsome 13 seconds of swiftness)

Good riddance, it was unfair to new wvw players and for the people who like wasting time prepping there still is the superior sigil of bloodlust.
granted, for new players, but thats tough luck. I think it was silly to add them in the first place, but removing them after 2 years, is it ? is even more silly.

Been using d/d staff in the next new pve. It’s much better then other weapon sets. Not tried it in pvp by I think s/d is still a better weapon set then staff. Seen a few staff thieves in pvp but none were too much of a problem but I blame lack of experience on using staff.

this is not a wvw map, why they even made this as a wvw map, I am not sure. its far too complex and big to be an open would pvp map. the old border lands were far better.
the map it self is beautiful and very creative but thats it. a lot of people come to wvw to fight, not run around aimlessly like in silver waist’s. i ran around for about 30 ,ins, found 1 dude – who wp’ed when he saw me….
People already complained that edge of the mist’s was too big, too complex for anything like wvw but was ignored. now the same with this map. I dunno what anet is even thinking but this was a huge mistake.
already we have lost many people on our server as they said that this new map was the final straw.
rip wvw. hope things recover becauses this new map is silly.

S/d is pretty tricky to play. The only way I can reliably use #3 to evade high burst/telegraph skills such as evis, most hammer attacks. Even things like ele dagger fire #3 is to disable auto attack as that takes priority over most of the weapon skills while in melee range
The aa chain can be very weird and the last attack some times “lags” and I sometimes wounder if there is some kind of bug with it. The dmg is amazing though, with a few might stacks I and wvw stacks I was aa critting enemy glass people for nearly 4k slice and 6k crippling strike.
Been playing d/p a lot but recently started to play acro s/d again and I think despite the clunky aa and hard to use #3 with out spamming it, I still think this set more fun then any other weapon sets

With world buff (not wvw stacks) food/stone. My thief sits at around 2630 power, 50% crit chance, 208 crit dmg, 14k health and 2330 armor. My armor is mostly ascended berserker with valk pants. Weapons are 1 assassin and 1 berserker. Trinks are a mixture of pvt/valk/berserker/cavalier. It’s all ascended too with wvw infusions too.

Even if thief traps did have direct damage the thief would still have the most access to stealth via their heal, weapon skills etc. My trap ranger was in and out of stealth every few seconds when I ran traps and they were on relatively long cooldowns.
Fact is you’ll find people to defend literally anything. Trap runes are not the problem, thief traps are.
I don’t care about this build as I don’t even play it. First time I saw it I did get rofl pwnded. Now I either drop seige on the floor and /emotes, then I go do something else. sometimes use trip wire when I dual with my s/d thief.
For all I care you can nuke the runes or traps, not fussed and I don’t know why other people defend such a cheap build like this.

They did the same to choking gas. People moaned that thieves are able to use shadow refuge and spam choking gas, then they added a miner dmg ‘buf’ to reveal. Makes sence if they do the same to traps too.
Or they could make traps like in gw1 ‘easily interupted’

Hmm i think hoelbrak is realy good for WvW. But it depends how you combine it.
Hoelbrak + Pyronancers Puissance + Strength Sigil + Lemmongrass makes a solid WvW setup. Pack is a good stat setup and helps in a group but i would prefer hoelbrak for a power build.Something like that:

I have been running defiant stance in guild raids since the stability change. I find it far more useful then hs because there are more then enough healing from guards dodgeing, power ups and water feilds and shouts from warriors. I feel that hs is kinda useless, especially if you get caught in a bomb but at least with defiant stance you can revers all of that dmg and leap out of trouble (asuming you run warriors sprint)

Hi, i tired both sa and acro and there is a difference. Sa is perfect for d/x but I find it kinda bad for s/x. The Condi removals from sa I feel kinda pointless as sword because you Have to use CnD if you don’t want to waist a utility and I found its more reliable to just use infiltrations return.

So started to play staff ele a lot recently and I haven’t decided on what’s the best runes. Currently I am running with the heolbrek runes, might dosnt seem fit for a staff ele as it dosnt rely on might stacks (compared d/d)
Been running pack runes on thief for some time now and I was wondering how good are they on a staff ele (mostly berzerker/valk gear)

Atument swap 1-2 second out of combat, that’s all that an ele should get. Not another complete second weapon set. But then again the ele could spam from fire to x and gain might/protection stacks before a fight if they made ooc atument a low cool down

Lightning Rod damage is not increased by Tempest Defense’s damage increase for instance.
You can jump over Gust without a dodge roll to dodge it…
You might want to consider adding Earth Shield instead of Mist Form if you use Lightning Rod and your plan is only to roam.
And, you ought to practice your Static Fields and Earth Lines, especially against thieves. There is too much time between casting it and being safe inside or out of it (5 min in the video).
Pretty fun to watch, staff eles can hyet even vs the most mobile class.
What does that even mean? About jumping the bang wagon using staff?
I also run tempest defence with lighting rod, not for the extra dmg but it’s also good for defence as lighting procs weakness.

Not actually tried the shield out but I normally use arcane shield as a stun breaker mainly as my third utility.

not played an ele much, only started playing it for the last week seriosly. anyway i want to play s/x builds but i struggle to do any real dmg. i know its because i am rusty as hell on an ele but i have hardly played 1 but do i really need to run glass while playing s/x? i dont seem to be able to recover from a glass thief and if i run a bit more defensive they have time to reset.
so whats the ideal stats as an s/x ele? this is my current gear.

Made a Thief to be a fast, shadow dwelling, melee assaulting, pressuring, backstabbing aggressor. Not a “hold #3” and run around outside of fights….guy
Haha it won’t, this is only for lolz and asking to get flamed and insulted in maths. It’s effective at killing people, even when vs reflect there was enough iniative for unload to carry on.
