There is nothing wrong with spamming one skill, especially since this profession was designed for it.
I think their intent was to have players make “skillful” skill combos pairing and matching this skill with that skill and so on… but boy were they wrong with their implementation.
If they wanted that, there would be a mechanic which would reward thieves with bonuses for chaining different skills in succession.
bull crap. spamming 1 skill over and over is just dumb as hell because it is too predicable and just, dumb.

why should that matter? i am 0, i play for fun now (unranked) but i used pretty much the same sort of keybinds in gw1 where i played top 100 gvg teams

try playing a condi reaper and see what it feels like to get pushed by a thief, it’s just as bad as facing a tempest. Thief is not THAT bad, warrior, on the other hand, is useless garbage.
You should not be losing to a thief 1v1 on any class.
thats not 100% true. i may not be as epic or as nerdy as you guys in pvp, i recently just hit rank 80 (yay me!) and i am close to 1k games on thief. as a staff thief I have managed to kill a lot of there’s OP specs including condi reaper, its not because my enemy’s were bad, its because of escapist absolution and deliberating ark, if timed right you can pretty much have close to 0 condi presure on you and when they do chill, just shadow step/return. staff #3 and #4 are so good for 1v1 fights. now i just need to learn how to slow thier life force regen down.

I think the dmg is fine, even with scrapper runes and dash trait i am still able to hit fellow glass people for around 6-7k vaults, and providing i manage to steal protection I hit around 5k on cele/bunker people. things like giving us the 10% health on withdraw like what was promised, or some sort of dmg reduction buff while revealed.

may be thats whats needed though, get rid of passive vs passive and bring back player vs player.

keep that passive, but make thief have passive blind freilds when struck, warrior have passive block when struck. that would balance things out

regarding the rev, i wasn’t sure what he was as I have not even touched 1. but all i could say that he was an inexperienced rev because I slaughtered him in seconds more then once, he was also hammer sw/axe. i know the combat log dosnt tell the whole story, I should of took the screen shot in the fight but I was kinda busy :p
It just seemed odd because i have never hit that low at all, not even as a lvl 1

I never thought it was possible to hit that low and on a marauder no less. Woah, OP, I feel like you’re holding back or misinterpreting some details. Also, Lady Lysanna. Try blocking the names out better next time :P.
this was at their home mist champion spawn bit. as you can see there was also a rev. I did not notice the champion spawn as we was still fighting for it, i was marauder thief using deadly arts/tricekery and DD. even if that champion did spawn, there is no way that it should reduce dmg that much. i know it spam agis of some form, bot not 99% dmg protection.
Oh and about the name – I missed a spot >.<, this isnt a “look i found a hacker ele” i was more interested in what actually happened.

yeah, they can – ele’s are a pain when it comes to tankyness and finding a window to open a burst with, but come on lol! 8 dmg vualts and 3 dmg AA? thats not right is it.

So, doing some casual stronkhold games tonight and we was getting rekt, first time I found this ele and it was in a team fight and I didnt target him to see what boons he had. but come, as a marauder staff thief, I should do more then 5 dmg from steal lol?

i have been hit by long bow aa’s twice after i entered stealth. think its just lucky for them.
If quickness is applied, if the attack is even slightly made before you enter stealth, the arrow will travel. All projectile effects do this and the only way to negate the damage is to move beyond the maximum range of the weapon during flight.
A friend of mine and I have quite literally tested this using Shadowstep; I’ve used Shadowstep during the flight at the apex of a corner, and the arrow has actually curved 90 degrees around the corner and hit me when timed to do so. Stealth operates the same way and that the attack is assigned to hit you unless you force it not to as soon as the animation begins. This is why the changes made to the longbow’s projectile speed were the best QoL change made possible to the ranger in terms of hitting targets (as the old longbow could be dodged by just strafing left/right without timing anything), but at a slight cost with issues like this. That said, it does apply to things like pistol and rifle autos, too.
Quickness with Lead the Wind would allow the ranger two attacks off at around the 1800 range mark before the first one hits, so both get the tracking.
hmm, i didn’t take notice of the boons, I will next time but the time between hits didn’t feel like it was under quickness.

I don’t believe at all staff mastery is ‘needed’ da/trickery/dd has at least a 32% dmg modifier already, thats with out staff mastery and bound. what is the point in going “yolo glass” in such a heavy bunker meta, half of the things you fight are condi anyway. I am doing 10x better then i did before now that i switched scrapper runes, EA and dash, critting 6-7k vaults is more then enough for me yeah, thats on other maruder/zerker builds)

So you can take staff mastery, pff. I feel staff with da and trickery is enough dmg in pvp and that’s running havoc as the only dmg modifier in the traits line as I am using dash

well, if you were playing unranked, then F those guys, but if you are playing ranked, I think it’s okay if ppl expect others to play builds that work. Thief atm just doesn’t work if you’re not 10times better than the other players and even then you’d probably still play another build you’re not that familiar with and do much better.

weakering charge can land all 3 hits if you position your self correctly.
oh? I’ve never done it against a player sized target, so do explain. would be a great help
de target you foe. imagine the target has black powder on them self’s so get back, and aim 100 units to their side. its hard but it can hit all 3 hits. its mor about timing then positioning

its the map. doesn’t matter what class i play with a ranged weapon, killing tequtl’s fingers in a certain area always says “obstructed” or out of range

the condi removal on dd and the dodge traits are very good imo, I am getting a lot better vs condi necros in pvp with staff, i can keep their normal condi attacks at bay by using #4 #3 and dash a lot and when they pop their signet i just pop shadow step/return.

I still believe staff is in a very good shape. i have no issues with any of the skill’s, tbh #3 can be tricky yo use sometimes but i still wouldn’t have it any other way. weakering charge can land all 3 hits if you position your self correctly.

D/D can work as power, its just pretty hard theres days to kill competent people in wvw and spvp, other wise you could ignore skills #1 #2 #4 #5 and spam death blosom for bleed stacks.
Staff is a great weapon with good utialtys on it as well as nice dmg (vault can be easily dodged though)
Just buy Hot, it its 1 payment and dosnt cost an arm n a leg and go from there but you will miss a lot of the story by starting with HoT story mode.

A lot of thieves are stubborn as hell. Most of the thieves play other bunker class’s and still think that they can pull of the same kind of fights they do when they are on a thief. It’s completely different story. I can’t speak for leauge play as I find that there is far too many wannabes or try hards there and even afk a match just because a thief is in their team, hardly see any bad thievs in unranked though

May be it’s ranked games that ruin it, I have no intrest at all in this leauge stuff, I have my fun in unranked solo q and very early do we have 5 man premade that do the Lord rush, I find that also in unranked people are more relaxed and don’t have to worry about ruing 100% meta to win nodes and instead play what they want and it’s actually more effective too. Quite a few times me and bersker warrior managed to kill al of the door breakers to stall their rush.

The Boss is on the mini map, and if you out your mouse curser over the karka boss in the activates it normally shows you where it spawned

Same as me playing thief, I am far more useful and a much greater threat in stronghold compared to conquest, and it’s a lot more fun too, fighting at mist champion spawns and supply fights are much better.

What excuse is that “try in pro leauge” not many are in that to begin with, and people that they are in pro league play the most bunkersh and the most effective build to stand afk on a node.

unranked is the way to go. if you are not in the slightest interest in pro pvp or that silly backpack thing then ignore ranked…afk bunker matches and have a rush in unranked where its more relaxed.

its conquest, what do you expect? play strong hold if you are fed up with conquest. i belive that ents marketing trick worked, and that we will see a lot of changes next year.
