Condi thief, being a pest mainly have nothing on a perplex condi reaper (staff axe/wh) . Tbh I don’t even bother to kill db thives anymore as it’s not even a little bit fun.

In my experience I found that staff is better then s/d or d/p dealing with scrappers. AA, #3 #4 is what I mainly use vs a scrapper.

Thievs are only squishy if you build them squishy. An example I run my thief with 210% crit dmg, 2647 power, 15k health, 50% crit chance and 2300 armor (scrapper runes) I met a glass thief last night who was hitting 4.8k-5.3k shadow shot. But could only take about 13k dmg to him self and he was toast. I know he was built squishy because my crippling strike (playing as s/d) hot him for 6k. And in a team fight I stole from a warrior and the skill just melted the thief from the duration of basilisk venom (even if he was bad, he focusd everything on dmg and nothing else)
Thives don’t need to be full glass to be effective in fact it’s the opasit unless you are very experienced and just want to play yolo.

No, I think short bow is too good, probably just as good as d/p in terms of utility. Cluster bombs isn’t designed to be shot at far range, even tho it can. It’s also an awesome blast finisher (not just for might)
Yeah choking gas could be a bit better and the cripple could be longer too on disabling shot. Apart from that, it’s awesome.!

Only works on some class’s. Using infiltrations arrow to escape but port into an aoe bomb wasn’t a clever idea. So I removed it.

I don’t use it it pvp so I decided not to take it in wvw, doing ok for s/d and staff for about 5 months (well not staff). Not many enemys on bl so gonna have dinner then try eb.

My gear isn’t built for that sort of thing. It’s more built around staff and s/d sustain fights. When the trait lites all merged was the real last time I play d/d and that was da/sa/tri. This is what I run now.

I had some really nice fights yesterday and today.
Yesterday against a chronomancer and it was even (I just hadn’t had enough sustain to bring it to an end) and he seemed baffled to meet a D/D thief. We parted unkilled
Today vs a S/D – staff DrD. I’m really not happy about the damage in game. He surprised and killed me twice, the third time he hesitated and I won. No time to really counterplay.
Have fun though and try to use dodgebow a bit lessI believe in you!
Most staff thives open with steal+weakening charge. Stupid bug makes you stay on a sport so all 3 hits land easily. Staff aa is pretty strong too.

Using scrapper runes my self. At 50% crit chance (70) using totc I don’t see the point any rune that gives bonus crit chance.

Not had much issues with condi users. Sometimes I screw up and get bombed, recover the get bombed again and die, my fault. Most of the time I rely on evading as I am about to get hit with any attack being projectile, a close e or a melee attack vs condi players as escapist absolution will cure a condition, also use shadow step/return. as s/d or staff it’s s bit easier then compared to d/p to fight of conditions.

It’s always best 2 have a melee and ranged. Either if they are d/p and short bow, or staff and p/p. There are times where it’s just better,safer and smarter to just pew pew from range

I currently run this in pvp, it relys being stunned for sustain, in wvw I hit thives with headbut for an avg of 6k, its also an instant stun breaker. i know this is not the same build as the burn zerker, but just some things to look out for.

all i can say is, hide, disengage when they enter berserk mode. its like any fight – the thief has the fight as long as he can wait. do you burst a warrior when they pop endure pain? same thing tbh, just back off, hide if you must.

S/D is a weapon set which is only as good as the players ability.
D/P is kinda 50/50.
Staff is ez mode, very little skill involved. (Personal Opinion)S/D is amazingly strong if your Thief gamesense, general gamesense/knowledge are on point along side good ping/ms and reaction speeds.
I’ve played it as my main weapon set for almost a year and I’ve gotten it pretty much on point…
Just can’t really beat Scrappers or DH’s but those classes/builds don’t take too much to play effectively.
staff is easier then s/d yes, but not ezmode, well it is if you trait for a single weakening charge spike.

I am now mainly able to “gank” with s/d now rather then actual fights (d/p does this far better I know). I tried high dps runes like scholar but they didn’t help much because it’s hard to even stand up 2 a scrapper hammer chain being so squishy. Went back to scrapper runes again and will change my gear a bit.
I can hit 4-6k crippling strikes but that still feels weak for some reason.

Played da/sa/trickery mostly in ranked games as I tend to skirmish too much and muck about when I trait to dd. I find that I can’t troll around kitten so I am more focused in winning then having ‘fun’

As a thief main, I have not noticed any difference in the dmg because everything bloody stung for me anyway. People had it easy playing the bunkers and sometimes no 1 needed to even rotate at all. I guess this is what happens when a big change happens and people don’t like to adapt in such a way that the dmg buff (removal of bunker aamulets) are a bit ort.

so, we all know warrior is pretty bad and has been for a long time. apparently according to anet, warrior is meant to be master of weapons. so if that is the case. give them the mastery, make warrior leaps/telegraphed skills gain swiftness buff like before they nerfed it. (rush/sheild bash/savage leap) I think that is a good way to save warrior for pvp.

Here’s one way to balance it – Have some map XP percentage that Activates PPK for the Player.
Get objective – Get map xp – activate PPK for that person. Add rewards that scale with the tier the player works up to.
Like Auric Basin or any other of the pve maps – PPK would be activated by the percentage gained by the player through events completed.
Player wants PPK? Player can work for it by doing events – but have it diminish per score tick so eventually they would have to take something to get it back up.
