I have a whopping 35 mins on my necro but faced a lot of em, I think if you lose all life force after they die it would be too much of a nerf. They simply will just be hit bags with no life force from start.

Running a build with no condi clear is like running in with no armor and expecting not to get wrecked.
How many cleanses do you expect people to run. I have 1 on evade, sword #2 return, shadow return, sig of agility. And sometimes that is still not enough.

tbh, i do not play pvp as much as i should becuase it is the best way to get better, and i am a skirmisher in wvw and not a focus point decapper (i know it is more then just decap, mind games and tactical move’s are made but that isnt my style). But playing duel melee thief is ok for lolz or unranked. but i do not advise it in ranked where stuff matters. thief is only good at 1v1 when it comes to fighting, and most of the time if it is not another squishy person it take’s too long for the kill to matter anyway, so you may as well just be else where. 2nd the 2v1 bit comes into play and with short bow you get to point B much quicker.
i have met some of there’s d/p staff heros in wvw and although they can insta kill by bursting their utilaty’s too, i still think it is too much to give up then shortbow and self survival utiltys. just my opinion.
as for acrobatics, i dunno why people even use it, its like the new SA “training wheels” with that passive evade and anti stun, much better going either CS or DA since the whole point of thief is burst and or mobilty.

Short bow is only better in spvp because it port up on higher platforms, apart from that #5 isn’t that awesome and in wvw it’s only really used to get away from enemy zerg. And let’s not forget that once you’re in combat and you change to short bow to open a gap you are stuck with low dmg for 9 seconds. Our other ports are on long cd if you don’t include sword #2 d/p #3 which cost iniative.
I don’t belive we should give up mobilty for a better chance for 1v1, I would give it up if we had protection and better ways to regenerate with out stealth. That won’t happen and we all know it.

More of a whole class thing here, but I would like a cancel “action” button like in gw1 would be nice, I find stole weapon to very unreliable… especially with short bow. Seeing enemy pop a reflect so I use my stole weapon key bind and I am still aaing away. I have to spam stole weapon for it work which is annoying. Getting the hang of no aa on melee weapons but that should be the answer for this

I don’t think she actually meant as a front line role, just getting close to the front line. I am quite often on the edge of my melee train to get a better veiw of who to gank and as s/d you can pretty much gank anyone and return back “home” in the safty of your blob.

The difference with wvw roamers and pvp roamers is that the pvp guys struggle when it comes to zerg fights because they never have that in pvp (I am talking 30 v30 v30) I knew a guy who did pvp, knew every glass and was a 1v1 hero in svp/obsidian sanctum but put him in a wvw fight and he just fell apart. Same can be said about wvw people in pvp, I can’t play for kitten as much as I use to because I spend far more time in wvw, it’s weird how different game modes, based on pvp and alter your own game play completely different. Don’t get me wrong, there are some guys that can do both modes easily but most pvp only shine in 2-5 people… MOST

What do you mean da crit for “much” less, not as much no but I don’t think it’s that much to notice. I thought having over 50% was more then enough and both of them builds are over 62% with out fury.

Lol all them keybinds, jump with nearly every bow skill (no aa) why do people do this? Never noticed or had terrain issues.
Back on topic, I also prefer vanilla warrior, when you are in bersker mode it Juat turns into spam f2/swap weapon. Funny using gum lame in wvw blobs or yolo, but I think non bersker is more tamed and better to use.

Yeah. Staff alone isn’t that great if that is all you rely on it hurts yes but I can be tricky vs compitent people. Using stealth and utility skills helps a lot.
I have pretty much the same gear set up as above guy but with more power less crit (2645/204) and and more toughness, yay!… as long as you can get 2500 power and more then 205 crit dmg with at least 50% chance you can rock on staff

Lol play a different game then. I prefer the old maps just like everyone else does. But we won’t get them back so just get on with it.
Roaming on bl does work if you knock on enemy keeps, and belive it or not, real players not npcs come. if defenders come then we get fights but I agree it’s no where as busy as it use to be back in the old days.

Ya for most thief 1v1, shortbow is essential. If you are fighting another thief and don’t pull it out, you can get killed fast. I find most of my 1v1 thief fights are a couple of swings at eachother, then we both swap to shortbow, and once one thief feels the advantage, burst attempts are made. (using physical skills we can burst quite hard in sb)

The new maps are no where near as bad as people make them out to be. Ofc at first it was a bit a shock and I wasn’t that impressed with the size or the gimmicks in it but time does help you over come it. Quite enjoying roaming now (not solo, 2-5 people)

it depends. on the day more then anything. I do not play much pvp anymore but we all know d/p counters s/d. in my latest match ups there are some d/p thives that just counter me hard (not that they kill me fast, just that i can not do much vs them) then other times i just kill them in 10 seconds (no they are not bad before anyone 1 jumps the gun… they know what they are doing)
as for staff vs d/p… d/p has the edge if they open in stealth, but the staff can just use #3 and #4 which is a lot of pressure vs a d/p thief. the AA on staff is pretty solid too, steal + weakerning charge is a nasty spike from a staff thief. most typical staff thieves will happerly waist initiative and spam vualt, just dodge/interrupt when the emote of vualt does the nose dive into the ground.

people still dont get it? its a trapper condi thief using shadow arts and trapper runes, traps trigger no dmg, just condi ticks. 5 stacks of confusion comes from traited steal. not really anything you can do vs that sort of trash. and its not “fun” its boring as hell.

Staff dps is a joke. Was deuling a rev in wvw and took 3 mins to kill him on s/d. Swapped the staff and rekt him in about 20 seconds, 3 fights in row.

I use scrapper runes in wvw and pvp on my thief. Not really looked into new builds for pvp as I only play unranked now. I don’t quite like the idea of giving up da just to get that few extra crit dmg tbh using paladin amulet. Still running marurder in pvp mode, might try weakening strikes instead of havoc mastery wich will help our a lot too.

At first yes. Dash moves a lot faster so the clones are still put of range. It’s tricky to dodge with this trait vs Ai things.

Skills across the game have been acting weird. We play asura ball in GH the other day and because 1 guy was slightly of center of the ball, instead of banish missing it actually knocked back the rat backwords instead. Just 1 example.

Unload spam is pretty bad and pointless. But it can be “fun” using it though different fields. Personally I found them only good if used like back stab.

Been roaming with a guildy as sw/shield gs power chrono and me as s/d daredevil. Although some match ups are hard it’s still does good presuer because like you said about the glass thives, s/d thives do not hide in stealth or out burst like a d/p does. And with both of us porting all over the place it can be tricky to lock 1 of us down.
Not saying it’s the best but it’s still very fun.

I run base 50% crit chance with 2754 power 16k health 205 crit dmg and 2300 armour and scrapper runes. It’kitten and miss for s/d thief but playing dp or staff I crit for 9k back stabs or 8-9k vaults.
