@OP: thief is in decent state atm. It is one of the least noob friendly classes but if you invest time in it it can be pretty fun. Do not expect to hypercarry in ranked though, regardless all the nerfs to other classes thief still heavily relies on team doing well.
Pve: anything works in pve, i think staff is meta for raids atm.
WvW: didn’t touch it for ages~
One thing though, daredevil is mandatory if you want to compete in higher ranked pvp and do raids.
I don’t think he meant that. Thief is hard to play in a compitent lvl or vs touch comp But d/p is ‘easier’ then s/d for sure, or other melee power based builds.
And that trait has also made things a bit easier for all thief builds, not just d/p – be it tactical strike, steal, bs/impact strike anything you interupt randomly or legit, it is still an extra ‘free’ 3.6k dmg which is a bit silly imo.

The only time I get a bit annoyed is that when I am roaming with my guildys (2-5) it is always me (s/d thief) that gets the whispers. The whispers them self’s I couldn’t care but why me all of the time ; (

I got a whisper from a freind who is/was leneged on both seasons who was playing druid. He sais "thieves are reckon now since mursnarys amulet is gone and the indirect dmg buff they got from it) not related I know, but when 80% of the people played that amulet it was a problem, people kept saying that there was no build diversity and stuck with that amulet, now it’s gone everyone has gone to the next best condi amulet until that 1 gets a lot of attention.

s/d hurt’s in wvw, always has done but it’s a lot harder to pull it off in spvp. shame really because the dps d/x chucks out its kinda silly compared to s/x

found this out too, and it happened also in sm, is it a map thing? i got pbs and then imbo by the trait, normally that is not an issue as a thief but I could not dash out of it, nor could i steal/port. it looks similar to the the jump imbo bug however i didnt do any such action.

Been using scrapper runes for some time now,along with dash trait. I main s/d and altough it is about evading play, you only really evade hard hitting things rather then aa or other low dps hits. My armour stats are 2300 along with the -17 dmg reduction I can aford to take some mild hits if I have too. Also regaudring health I think 16-17k is more then enough tbh. I would like to give defender runes a try though.

I never understood why condi theif, especially that trapper build and being pm flamed isnt fun. Even going full ascended as well lol.
Seen a few of them around and luckerly they have no stun break if they revealed them self (shadow step onto their bp) they normally die fast.

If you wanna duel thats fine, but please take it to OS. you’re not contributing anyway to the WvW fight by sitting outside StoneMist Castle having 1v1’s and just taking up valuable slots for other people, esp on my server where there are queues all night long.
Meh ebg is overrated. Most of the duelers that I have seen on my server or fighting us are enemy gankers that patrol around sm to pick of their enemy zerg tails. Also speaking of contributing, 50 people flipping camps and empty towers isn’t exactly that much of an contribution neither, not when it can be done with 5 people for a quick flip.

6k per Vault on 2300 toughness. For power shatter to do any kind of meaningful damage, you have to go glass. Good luck with that.
The rise of the cheese is easily attributable to the tardmode power creep of these “active” power builds with their one-shot skills. People don’t enjoy getting 80% of their life being blown away by a single skill by classes who can bunker up and still deliver these cheesy numbers.

Also most importantly, if someone were to interfere in an agreed duel I have no respect for them whatsoever. (I personally dont enjoy duels myself, theyre too static for me I prefer the chaos of open world and using terrain to get the jump on 2/3 people but I most definitely respect others’ duels and as a personal rule will not interfere in even-numbered fights). If you stumble upon an agreed duel, have the decency and honor to walk on.
I will not discuss your solo roaming further since the topic is duelling. The problem is the word “agreed”. Yes, when someone duels and just duels, I dont care (although i dont like it). However, is the person between my keep and sm waiting for a duel or a dolyak? Did the two players fighting next to the pathway or in front of our bay agree to fight each other or not? Of course I can ask. But do I have the time for it? There duels become annoying. Hence, I voice for a duel-area. I would be less annoyed by duellers, the duellers less by interruptions.
I really don’t understand what the problem is. I can accept people interupting duels because kitten happens. But the excuse is that if it’s near a sm or a path is kinda lame tbh. A lot of the people who say fo to spvp or out of the way places to duel with in wvw would the first to cry when there is no 1 left to scout (talking about bl roamers/duelers) ebg is different.

When I am stomping a 1v1 participant I think of the queue time that I had to wait just to get into ebg and how these guys contributed to making me wait because they were too lazy,ignorant or just plain stupid to "duel"somewhere else. Death to all red names. Actually I might go hunt some duelers down right now just for the lols.

WvW is very different since you can have different builds. I see alot of old school bunker guardians with shouts and reflects. Heck i have even seen ventari revs who are incredibly useful. The builds for this are different since you are fighting in groups of 20-30-40-50.
Thats very different.Also please dont say its the same as stronghold ummmm no its not. This is me and 2 guild mates with 2 necro MM condi builds and a condi engy from last season. Condi has been the meta since HOT came out for PvP. Not just for 1-2-3 classes but every class.
why did you show me 2 screen shots of a score bored? and i know stronk hold is different, thats why power builds work there. much more freedom and nothing to fight over (only supply and lord rooms) compared to 5 nodes.

oh i am sorry, just seems odd that it requires 30 + peopl to flip camps and empy towers, sometimes even paper keeps but retreat after some sort of resistance.
Then don’t make the assumption that all of us that do duels is the only thing that we do. most of the time us duelers are actually roamers that flip enemy camps – stalling upgrades to towers or keeps, scouting out intel of where enemy zerg and killing enemy roamers that do that we do. sometime we even refresh siege.

Run the zerg over the top of the duellers. They take up precious space on a WvW map, especially now that the server merges have gone through

I was referring to your build, not just sigils. I also main thief and 10k health tells me that you are close to, if not 100% bersker stats. That is more then enough to burst people down.
Ofc d/p has every advantage over d/d most people know this but it dosnt mean that the d/d will never beat you back, it shouldn’t though.
You gladly ganked fought him on his d/d thief knowing it was easy pickings but chickened out when a real challange came. You can still burst an ele down with that “pve” build. Not sure why you brung up spvp rooms when this is in wvw but anyway.
After the 3 win, i would just let him live, i killed him 3 times in a row and proved my point to him. Reason you jumped him when he was low was more then likely that you got salty when he tried to fight you on his ele in a 1v1 but declined the spvp room thing and decided to yet take another easy kill.
There is no roaming code, they are more like… gueid lines :p

So, you beat a power d/d thief which is pretty bad now on a d/p “pve” build with scholar runes (guessing for max burst/dps) refuse to fight him on his main ele in an 1v1 but then gank him at 50% health then /laugh…

No 1 roamer or dueler is complaining about being run over by a blob, that’s part of the fun/excitement, high traffic or not. If I killed a enemy person in a 1v1 in a high traffic area such as, smc or at South bay then does my win automatically flip said keeps? No. People use this high traffic excuse because they are pathetic and too scared to fight and would rather get kicks out of a half dead enemy already fighting. obvisoly out side a home keep such as border or eb keeps then you are going to get run over by multiple people, but I’d hardly call other paces that bad. And it’s always the same kind of people that do this, ZerglingS that want a piece of the action but don’t want to die trying to solo. I know not everyone’s intrest is to 1v1 but it’s not against the games rules or game mode. Most of my 1v1’s stay 1v1 when an ally jumps in because I can just port away and make it obvious that I am not intrested and kill the other guy instead.

Probably a thief is the best thing to really solo 1 but then again, why would a thief waist it’s time doing so.
Also power scrapper isn’t burst like gun lame warrior or d/p thief, it’s more of sustained dps which is were you fail to kill the ele, may be in wvw where stats are crazy then yeah but not here unless skill difference is a mile apart.

I run scrapper runes because I feel I have enough health (food and oil can reach 17.7k) and I also have 58% crit chance so there is no need for exuberance runes. Plus that -7% inc dmg reduction is great for when you gank mid zerg on a low target.
I see a few thives that run exuberance runes in spvp though over scrapper runes. Might try them out my self.

ZerglingS are like bullys at a school playing feild, it’s your way or none, I mean us roamers/duelers never bother with your karma trains or disrupt the way you play but when we want to play our way it’s all wrong and said bullys have to ruin it.
I was moaned at by a public commander once for having a time out of scouting/roaming and found some enemy’s that was in the same boat, we had some duels…After commander spat his dummy out about dueling in hot spot aeras I said “fine I’ll go find a quite corner out of the way of everything” sure enough 5 min’s later enemy zerg was at t2 fire inner and because I “was not allowed” to do what I was doing in the first place (scouting/camp/sentry flipping) I didn’t see the enemy blob and fire was lost, and I got another shafting (not that I cared what he sais)

stuff like this was never asked when we all started from step1. just take what ever you have and trait what you think, its pve and the ai is bad.

but staff is only great for vualt spamming with bound, or pve. s/d is pretty powerful already (once again) it may not sting as much as staff in dps wise but it is far better with its mobilty and 5 boon steal with traited bountiful theft. giving intsa cast on #2 would just be broken and would probably never be able to pin high skilled s/d thives down. its already hard enough to put 1 down now if the said thief dosnt want to die.

toughness alone will not cut it. i would advice to take scrapper runes as it has a -7% inc dmg vs 600 range.

if its at a camp then I but in, if its over a sentry then its down to them. couldnt care if its out side our keep, i will let them 1v1.
