So you soloQ knowing the risk of class stackin, premades and non elite specs but you play it anyway, but sulk because you have them 3 on your team and demand that they should be removed from ranked (non hot people) sounds very selfish to me lol.

Everyone else gets movement impairing reduction trait of some form, it so happens that ours is a gm. Would be a shame if they did remove this.

I have learnt a lot from pvp. The key is lifeforce, don’t feed them it. I don’t attack when they are in reaper/death shroud, and I also don’t attack them while anything spectal armor is up. Condi necros are a pain and can condi nuke you (watch for signet of spite) I find it easier to beat reapers on staff then on d/p because the reaper is slow so it’s better to rely on deliberating arc and dust strike.
Death shroud is a bit trickery as it’s ranged and life blast hurts a lot. It also has a gap closer in it. If you, interupt life transfer (I think that’s the skill – the 1 that channels as that gives them life force too. It’s worth trying short bow as well for poking them.
The fight is yours, not the necros so take your time and play smart. They get stability when they enter shroud so watch when to use fear.

I am hoping for sword AA to be worked on, increase aa speed or at least make it stop “lagging” after every 2 swings.
Only thing I would like a change on short bow is cluster bomb to move a bit faster, you can run the same speed as it with swiftness, and possibly choking gas 4 seconds feild.
Can’t say much about pistol as I have not much interest in it, not condi stuff (venoms).
scorpion wire could do with a rework too.

No to dash, no 1 is complaining about it so leave it. We don’t need unnecessary nerf’s like this.
No to dust strike. The smoke feild is not needed and it’s far better to send out a ranged blind.
Stop with the 1200 range stuff! It’s a short bow, I can’t imagine the use of an extra 300 units just for a poison feild anyway.
Not sur about CnD. Could be nice for d/d and s/d. But that would be 6 seconds with shadow arts.
I don’t think back stab needs to be changed that much. It still hurts and it still puts people I’m defence mode if you land it at the right time.

Flashing blades wasn’t “tanky” at all. It just made you have an 75% chance to evade/block (can’t remember) while attacking. Easy to shut down with mesmer or necro hexes. Secondly that’s an assassin, not a thief :p.
I agree that staff and dagger are in a good spot for aa, but sword is not. I would like sword to be fixed. The dmg it self on the aa would be ok if they only they increased the aa speed. Also I would like to have the aa itself easily over rided – flanking strike works when you activate the skill, not lock up for half a second then do something. Pistol, meh. Let’s watch this space.

What does daredevil have anything to do with this? Perhaps he is boasting and showing off. But at the same time he has a point. Too many thieves are sulking because they are weak and not meta, a lot of none thieves sulk when they have 1 in their team because it’s dead weight and or, 4v5.

So, you condi people are not happy that your passive dmg is being counted by a passive trait? Do you guys really have to play Condi? It can hurt yes, but me as a theif is able to keep your condi spam at bay. But I can’t do much to, example 6k life blasts. I can port out yes but my point is that dmg isn’t curable like the passive condi stuff is. So why do you have to run that condi for?

I will play how I want on theif but I will repsect people in ranked games. I won’t go to a ranked conquest game unless I really want to win. Most of the time I am stressed out from work, or fancy some casual games and to fight people, so I play unranked stronghold matches. That being said I still try to play conquest games as well.
If thieves wanna just prat about and fight then they should play the new game format, stronghold where you are more useful even just fighting people.

Well, I have played pretty much all of the games content. 2 chars with 100% would exploration. I did enough HoT pve to get Bo staff. A lot there’s things in pve are not meant to solo (we all know that).
I have enough dps for my self and in a small grp. Any bigger then 5 people then aiming for max dps isn’t a nessescaty.
Edit. I still think you are asking for too much. We all like our main classes and want the best, but there are certain things that some classes shouldn’t have, and a 1200 range dps weapon is 1 of them

Are for kittening real lol? A few people who in full basic armour/weapons are not going to dent the dps of around 50-100 people. Dps only matters for things like spirit Vale and or elitist speed clear dungeons.

I tried sd again last night, it tickles compared to staff or d/p not to mention the whole set is so clunky and ‘laggy’. #3 takes a good 1/2 a second to decide and work, aa locks up sometimes for a 1/2 again. It really needs some re work. This is with avg 40 ms

I bet OP is the same guy that was moaning all match that i was playing thief, threated to afk, spent more time actually talking crap than playing and asked everyone to report me for botting because i was playing a thief. At the end we won and that guy got reported by our team for verbal abuse. Moral of the story? Shut up and play.

Short bow and pistol… p/p does have dmg. 6k crit cluster bombs and crazy unload dps spam. Unfortunately they have to be spamed to be effective but even then, why do you need to? I only do mass event pve and the only thing I do is tag mobs with trick shot and detonate cluster bomb.

Yeah, it’s cheap and easy to play, I can’t tell you how to counter them as a necro because I don’t play a necro, nor do I play that vile build. As a staff theif If they spam #3, then I also spam deliberating arc #3 as they finish their evade frame, what that does hit them for around 2K dmg, evade their last attack and also cure any condition on me as I am traited for escapest absolution. They tire them self’s out in the end and then I burst them down.
I have seen d/d thievs do this vs DH but get rekted hard.

Sounds like more dmg creep to me. Thief was never meant to support a grp like the other class’s can, or do. A thief is a thief, they don’t share. Only venoms but they are kinda weak

Reason : everything you do some other class does it better. Even mobility.
No class is more mobile than thief. Mesmer can somewhat compete with Portal, but on a long CD. Whether or not mobility is sufficient to give thief a role in pvp is another matter.
Warrior, Ranger/Druid, Necro’s with flesh Golems, Ele’s and even guards under certain conditions all got comparable or even better horizontal mobility.
We only excel at vertical mobility nowadays.

I am driven by pure will power, i get rekt but that is because i do not play other class’s, so I do not know the builds they play and there for do not know when to back off, what to look for and when the best time to interrupt is (this is my problem). I feel that Hot is basically a new game when it comes to pvp because everyone’s old play style/builds are so much different so thats a good thing for me.
the only, or best build is what your own, what you feel is right. i run "uncatcahble escapist absolution and dash on staff as a mraurder thief and i loving it, but a lot of thieves would say its a total waist using them traits.
In all honesty i have maind thief for 1.4k hours over 2 years, i have spent a lot of time/effort/gold on it, i am not going to just abadon it over this marketing stunt anet did with ignoring balance and making money from sell HoT. hope this new update help’s us.

you only get “eatin” if you just stand still and not moving your camera around. everyone dies in pve, not because they do not have 1200 ranged weapons, its because Hot mobs hurts like hell (example them big flying dragons that do that fire in a line that does 15k) the snipers charged shot hurts like hell. being spawned on as well can kill you. havning a 1200 range weapon will not save you, i tried this on my warrior using long bow and ele on staff.

lol, that is a silly reply. the only time i have seen 100/0 death is from DH traps and everyone know not to shadow step to them. further more, we have 900 range weapons, why would you shadow step all the way to 0 range and use a ranged weapon? if you really are in a rush to get in range then dodge closer ? i dunno I just think people are asking for way too much lately.
