Okay so I didn’t get any rares this run but I did get two cores which I haven’t had in a while. Maybe it was a coincidence? Maybe they adjusted a tiny bit? Not sure…

Once again completely missing the point, I’m not saying you CANT do the instance, I’m saying it’s not going to go as smoothly and so it makes sense for people to only take lvl 80’s if they are pressed for time. I am simply stating that there IS a difference, no matter how much you want there not to be. You play mesmer? Good for you. If a level 35 mesmer in full rares and a lvl 35 warrior in full rares both applied for my AC group which one would I take? The warrior. Hands down. That’s just how it is. If just the mesmer applied, I would still take them, but they will not be as effective at that level as a warrior. Nothing to do with HOW you play your class, at level 35, the Warrior is going to be of more use due to thier class support and DPS output.

Same thing for Arah, You got it done, good for you, no-ones taking that away from you buddy. But I assure you if your team was in full exotics you would have done it faster/more efficiently.

I’m not going to know who’s ‘better at playing thier class’ when I’m pugging people am I? Am I telepathic? No, So I’m going to take the person who’s class is more likely to be played properly. Same goes for level, I’m sure you’ve seen lower levels play their class better than people of a higher level, but is this common? No. And even if they are bad, their extra traits and gear will usually compensate. Call me an elitist all you like, but I’m getting my dungeons done and I will make logical choices to be more efficient.

Your attitude speaks volumes and completely proofs the issue that this entire topic is about. People with your attitude.

Luckily I see some people in this topic who are kind and helpful to the people in their community and hope to run into some of you while I do dungeons. I much prefer playing with nice and fun people. Makes the game far more enjoyable

As for ways to combat the issue of people with this bad attitude all I can suggest is what I said before, Keep a list of peoples names, take note of their contact info and avoid the bad ones like the plague. I’m fortunate to have a guild full of lovely people who love dungeons so I don’t really run into the problem of such people on a regular basis.

It might help if you are lower level is to go to Lion’s arch and specifically ask for people who haven’t done the dungeon before or who are of lower level. You’re more likely to run into like minded people that way.

Maybe they made some minor changes but nothing major yet? It just seems too much of a coincidence that our loot quality suddenly gotten a tiny bit better. I’m about to run another dungeon and will see what the loot is like. It could be that it’s only been adjusted for certain chests/bosses

Has there been changes made to the loot table because I’ve been getting more rares but most importantly. We did AC last night and I got a jug of karma out of the chest from killing Kholer?

Even though the rest of my party didn’t get any jugs they did get more rares. Unless I’m just imagining it or if I’ve just been really lucky?

I don’t see how I helped proof your point. What I was saying is that you compared the hardest profession with the easiest but that that doesn’t mean that a lvl 35 Mesmer couldn’t perform well.

I was making the point of saying that you may need to learn to play your Mesmer more thoroughly as they have a more advanced profession understanding requirement than most other professions and that this might be why you found it so difficult rather than it being an issue of gear/level.

You used Arah for example, Well none of us were fully exotic geared when we did it. Some of my gear wasn’t even level 80. A guy in my team was even in worst gear. Yet we still did all 4 paths in 2 days time, first time completing them.

I’m reinforcing that it’s the player and the team that makes the difference not the gear, not the level, not the profession. Sure go ahead and don’t take lowbies with because of their gear which I feel is a weak excuse because it really is about how good the player is.

A few extra points in power or precision or whatever stat isn’t going to make the player good. I’ve seen some really bad level 80’s who are geared do terrible at lower level dungeons while I seen lower levels without perfect gear do 10 times better.

Like I said the whole ‘You must have this gear and this level’ is so nit picky and a selfish attitude. I’m not saying it doesn’t make a slight difference I’m just saying a slight difference isn’t enough of an excuse to act elitist and deny access to people who want to enjoy dungeons but get kicked out because of this attitude. It’s simply rude.

You wouldn’t deny access to your house party to anyone who doesn’t bring cake just because cake is nicer. Because the person who doesn’t bring the cake might contribute greatly to the party by being chatty and fun (Strange metaphor I know but cake is tasty!).

2.) I took my level 35 Mesmer in with the full crafted set/accessories and weapons and let me tell you, it’s completely useless. Class at that level also matters, you went in with a Warrior. Warriors are one of the highest preferred classes in dungeons for a reason, especially in Arah.

I’m sorry but you base your opinion on your experience with a lvl 35 Mesmer? I play a Mesmer, They are the hardest profession to master in a dungeon. They are squishy and do mediocre damage until fully traited/geared and you have to know your profession inside out to do the best damage and survive. You can’t compare a lvl 35 Mesmer with any of the other professions in that context.

Mesmers are well known to be OP in PvP but terribly fidgety in PvE (Thus why many people would like to see a split of skills). I personally no longer have a problem with it (unless they keep nerfing our abilities even further). Mostly because I know my profession so well now and have done all the dungeons.

That said, this does not mean that a lvl35 Mesmer can’t do well, Mesmer’s have many useful tricks up their sleeves and it’s all about adjusting to encounters before you enter them. I bring along all weapons I can use (which are a lot) and I often swap utility skills and sometimes even traits. There’s no reason why a lvl 35 couldn’t do as well as a lvl 80 even without perfect gear, but for a Mesmer it will be A LOT harder to make up for that difference.

Mesmers are the only exception in this though, the other professions do just fine without the skill and advanced profession understanding requirement at that level.

I remember clearly that the first few weeks of the game. People we’re specifically denying dungeon access to Mesmers because so many were doing terrible with it, not understanding the profession. You really have to take the time to sit and try out all your abilities and understand when to use them correctly as a Mesmer.

You just compared the hardest profession for dungeons with one of the easiest, I don’t think it’s a very fair excuse to not bring lower levels with in dungeons. Especially not if you have at least two lvl 80’s in there or someone who knows what they’re doing.

As for gear these things make such a minor difference, I’ve seen many lvl 80’s in full exotic get downed and make mistakes. The only difference is HP goes down faster on mobs which is what it all comes down to. Selfish convenience (Unless of course there are good reasons behind it like lack of time due to real life commitments, there is no real good reason for it otherwise).

Again it’s also not fair to prejudice before you seen the person in action. Anyone can do great in that setting. I’ve seen so myself, regardless of profession, level, or the perfect gear.

It’s all just elitist nitpicking and the selfishness in general of this topic… I guess it shows that it has nothing to do with the MMO you play but with humanity in general.

Me personally, I will continue to invite people who are of recommended level, of any profession. Everyone is welcome with me as far as I’m concerned as long as they don’t continuously mess things up, disregarding advice or generally have a bad attitude (I do tend to go with guild groups first but they are my priority being guild leader and all).

If this is the case I won’t be doing path 1 and 2 any time soon then. I hope they fix it soon This is no way of preventing pugs from using the waypoint instead they should get Lupicus to reset if he goes out of his arena area.

I think it’s a good idea and the main system is already in place to make this possible. I don’t think the world is quite empty enough (maybe if you’re in a low population realm).

I think we’re all still used to the way things were at launch with huge groups of people moving about but it’s settling down now and I just see the occasional person wandering around which isn’t a bad thing. There’s still enough activity about and enough people doing events in general.

I’m pretty sure they’ve probably already thought of this.

I do wish they were more specific us poor Europeans have to stay up all night or get up early just wish we knew which :/

My advice is to make a list of people with this bad attitude and avoid them like a plague. Additionally make a list or add people to your friends list who are friendly that you can whisper for grouping up.

I just did two runs of AC with people who either never done it before or were low level or both. We did just fine, we didn’t wipe. We did the runs in decent time. Sure might not be quite as fast as a party with all lvl 80’s but it went just fine so all this nonsense is just silly.

I’m nearly 26 and of our 130ish members in my guild the vast majority are over 18. On average most our members are in their 20’s or early 30’s.

I myself am female and we have about 8 female members in total.

I played the game since BWE1 and I started recruiting for the guild beforehand. (I did not play GW1 I came from a WoW/SWtor background). As of this post I played 755 hours.

So I’m still confused how late will be release in UK time?

What’s this obsession with everyone speeding through dungeons, skipping bosses? A couple of meaningless mobs sure I can understand that somewhat but bosses? The dungeons are meant to have fun in, to do content that’s more challenging than the content out in the world.

Why would you choose to skip that? Just for some gear? Gear has no real value in this game other than aesthetics. The idea is that you get pieces of gear from the tokens you naturally get from playing the dungeons in an enjoyable way.

People need to learn to prioritise fun with the content in this game over the ‘I just got a full set of armour in 2 days because I’m so pro and now I have no end-game content to do QQ, let’s go on forums and complain’. You’re just ruining the content by doing speed runs and you won’t have anything left to do in no time.

I much rather have a lot of fun doing the dungeon with friends or nice pug’s having a good time, messing around even wiping couple times and laugh about it than doing all dungeon paths in 50 minutes.

You do realize that a large portion of those ‘noobies’ are actually players who are playing on an alt.

People are starting to become more and more elitist in this game. I always invite people regardless of level as long as they meet the recommended level. I think it’s ridiculous and selfish of the community to not allow non lvl 80’s to join lower level dungeons.

I can understand why Arenanet decided to cave and add levels to the game but it’s really firing back on itself because with the lack of being able to check for gear people resort to pathetic elitist attitudes like levels to judge whether someone is worthy to join dungeon parties.

Don’t worry though there are plenty of people out there who know that it doesn’t matter. Your best bet is to join a guild that likes dungeons and who have a friendly community.

That’s a hard one I wouldn’t say specific dungeons are hardest but specific paths or encounters. The two highest level dungeons have the most unforgiving mechanics such as Crucible of Eternity and Arah. However some of the other dungeons have hair pulling encounters as well.

Edit: Also it depends a lot on the party you are with, how skilled they are and teamwork. It also varies depending on professions in the party. Some professions make for certain encounters to be easier but then others are harder.

Yea there was no announcements or anything on our server either but me and my guild took the initiative to start advertising and more people have been responding since. Still no idea whose actually hosting the event.

I’ve seen many topics on quaggan’s becoming a playable race and being able to fight as a quaggan. Well, It actually is possible to fight as a quaggan! See the video below:

Basically we were able to pick up the weapons from the crates in Bloodtide Coast and use them on enemies. Was quite fun of course you have to be careful because you don’t regenerate health while holding the weapon.

It probably wasn’t intended to be able to work so I guess they will probably fix this soon but I don’t see how it could be exploited in any way since you are very vulnerable.

(P.S. In case you are wondering you can get Quaggan Tonic’s from a Dynamic Event vendor in Straits of Devastation)

Asura really just want to be picked up and hugged like a teddybear but too proud to ever let that happen.

I made sure to pick the right names at launch but I can imagine if you come later into the game there aren’t as many good names and you end up growing tired of them so I think this is a good idea.

I never played GW1 so I don’t know what the old emotes were like, All I can say is that I would like to see more of them.

I don’t understand why there is no Karma in dungeons, If karma is the currency in-game as a reward for things you’ve done it should be a reward for doing all aspects of the game not just WvW and Grinding event chains where you can’t hit any mobs because they’re dead by the time you do (Fun times as a Mesmer with our bad AOE).

It’s just really unfair, I love doing dungeons. I do them all day pretty much every day but I can’t get the legendary unless I grind. I’m aware about the badges for pvp you need to get, fair enough I don’t mind that even though I don’t like PvP much

But having to grind for so much karma is ridiculous when you should be able to get karma from dungeons, from all aspects of the game…As far as I understood that’s what karma was meant to be for. As a reward for being active in game, doing things. Something you can’t trade.

How is it a fair currency if you can only get it from doing two specific things. I’m not a PvPer, I’m not a grinder. I’m not into zerging keeps or zerging event chains. I don’t want to be doing this for 100000000 hours, I want to spend my time enjoying the dungeons, having fun in the game not this mindless nonsense (see picture).

The amount of karma you get for playing the game normally versus the karma needed for gear sets and legendaries is unrealistic.

The game is about having fun not about gear. The dungeons is what you’ll want to do if you’re a raider. The explorables are essentially the raid equivalent in this game.

You choose what you want to do at end game rather than being forced to grind for something. Any rewards you get like gear are mostly for aesthetic reasons.

You can for example easily craft a lvl 80 exotic piece of armour with the same stats as a lvl 80 armour you can get for dungeons. Yet the dungeons armour will be harder and take longer to collect so if you wear full Arah dungeon armour it shows you worked hard for it.

- As a pve player you can do all the dungeons
- If you are a pvper you can do sPvP or WvW
- If you like to craft, you can craft a legendary
- You can get world completion
- You can aim for achievements

There’s what, 500 shades of dye? You can easily mix and match colours so they are more consistent unless you wear drastically different styles of armour pieces. Get a set of armour rather than different pieces from various sets, problem solved.

The posts WeLoveKanjimari made about how texturing works in games is pretty solid. I suppose unless you’ve worked with texturing or looked into it you wouldn’t know how it generally works in most games.

It’s not realistic to expect the armour to all match exactly there’s hundreds of armour sets in the game. The point of them being sets is so that they are consistent in style, texture and when colour applied.

This isn’t an issue with the game it’s an issue with wanting to have all sets look the same so that non of them are unique just so your dye can match, it’s just well.. silly. It’s much better that each set is more unique in feel so there is more variety rather than everything looking the same.

You get it when you complete all dungeons on all paths, both story mode and explorable.

This NPC really makes the Lupicus fight on Path 4 seers path in Arah nearly impossible. Well.. not impossible just really annoying. The grubs keep spawning on him and he’s melee on the boss so the boss gets a hold of the grub in no time. It’s incredibly frustrating. NPC shouldn’t affect a fight like this.

It’s same with some other NPC’s in other dungeons like Rhiannon in CoF on the Torch bit, so so annoying.

Anyway, I hope this could be fixed because it’s really irritating :P

I have to say I would really like to see this as well. The pets keep getting left behind as you explore the world and if you deposit all collectibles by accident with a pet not in an invisible bag it’s gone into your bank. It just makes taking pets along undesirable because:

A. You forget to use them
B. They don’t keep up with you and if going into a new zone de-spawn all together
C. Get deposited into bank if not careful and take up bag space making it cluttered.

It would be nice if you could spawn any pet at any time from your collection, that they keep up with you even if you speed up and that they get equipped under the gear section rather than an item in your bag.

I know it creates a higher chance of it being easier but that doesn’t change that it’s a selfish attitude to have and to presume higher levels are better is also elitist. I get your point that it’s more likely to succeed but that doesn’t make it a good excuse if you know what I mean?

Don’t get me wrong, I just would like to see more people helping others with dungeons. I guess I had hoped the community would become less self involved when there’s so many mechanics put in place that encourages you to play with others without being prejudiced towards their gear/level.

I just hope some people will reconsider their viewpoint because as you said with your experience of lower levels it is more than possible to be just fine and enjoyable. I suppose it’s maybe an utopian way to think but if nobody says anything about it then it will just be assumed as being normal and therefore okay.

The most fun is when the person has never done a dungeon before and comes out having really enjoyed the experience or I ran a dungeon once with some people who were having a miserable time for it with some bad pug experiences but I showed them how it can be overcome and have fun in the process.

The game isn’t fun just for content alone it’s the people that make all the difference. In other MMO’s I found that nobody liked the grinding. What they really enjoyed about the game was the company, the people (At least this was often the case). GW2 gives you the perfect opportunity not to just have fun content but also more incentive to play with others.

I wish more people would seize the opportunity to change their ways and contribute to a pleasant experience for all of the community not just their own. If people would like to do so then they should be the change they wish to see in others. Any way :P Rambling on.

You get my point though, it’s not that it’s a bad thing per say but it’s not a good thing either.

Personally I quite like helping people who are lower level to learn how to run dungeons. Sure it might take a little longer but if they’re willing to learn and listen to advice then it doesn’t take that much longer if you have a couple of experienced players in your party.

This whole ‘Why take the chance with non 80’s it’ll be so much faster and reliable if they are all 80’s’ is kind of a selfish attitude and more about what you want and what you get out of it than helping people in your community. There are also plenty of people who aren’t 80 who are competent players.

Like yesterday I did Caudecus’ path 2 with 2 level 80’s, one 45 and one 55 pug and it went really well. We had fun with pillow fights as well! Compared to another time where I did it with a full 80 group and we wiped so many times.

These things some of you are saying just sound very elitist to me. Being 80 does not make you a more competent or better player. Being 80 means you can help those who aren’t to progress through the game.

This isn’t WoW or similar MMO where being 80 makes you better, GW2 has implemented the level scaling so you as an experienced player can help those who aren’t with your knowledge of the game and enjoy lower level content.

Anyway that’s just my opinion, I don’t mean it to sound offensive and I’m sure you guys are nice people but it really just boils down to you wanting to have your reward asap and feeling as if you are better for being 80 when you think about it.

Anet maybe shouldn’t have implemented the levels after all. People have been rushing through the game to 80 after a couple of days or feel themselves as better because they’re 80 all because it’s this attitude instilled by other MMO’s.

I understand your time is precious but I can guarantee it’s far more rewarding to help people in your community than just yourself. Rushing isn’t the goal of the game it’s having fun with others. You might actually be surprised how good lower levels can be not to mention great people.

To be honest I have so many memorable moments here’s a couple of non spoiler ones:

We we’re holding a jumping puzzle guild event where we just finished the Queensdale puzzle and making our way to Kessex Hills through the swamp to go to the puzzle there.

We ran into a escort event and decided to participate since it was going to the direction of the fort with the portal any way when suddenly the Meta event started so we spontaneously joined in and it was a lot of fun!

Another memorable moment was when we organised a Quaggan guild party in Lion’s Arch. We told everyone in the map to come to the Mystic forge where we were going to hold a party with a guild banquet, fireworks, funbox’s, booze etc. We also told them there would be a big surprise!

So we waited till a large crowd had gathered as we had promised a surprise. Then we counted down in guild and we all changed into Quaggans at the same time! As we popped the guild banquet etc. The party then really kicked off. I’m still working on putting the video of that night together but here’s two teaser screenshots:

But if you then wear full Arah armour/weapons it shows you are a lot more competent and worked harder for your gear than someone in full AC

Well hopefully we’ll hear some clear understandable numbers soon then. All I know is that a lot of people are still buying the game so really interesting to see how well they’ve done since launch, how many people are still actively playing it etc.

There was another topic made about this on another forum, I suggested they add the ability to switch on sound effects for colour blind people for when aoe lands and when standing on aoe (I assume different colours wont help those who can’t see any colours but grey tones)

Sales are over two million as of a few weeks into launch. They’ve added two additional servers since that number was made public. Regarding “active accounts”, accounts don’t become inactive because there is no subscription fee. The only way an account becomes inactive is if it is banned. We know from two reports they’ve banned at least 28,000 accounts.

There are no metrics you can have to really judge a subscription free MMO against a subscription MMO because to look at the success of WoW people look at subscription numbers. With a micro-transaction MMO the question really is how much revenue are they pulling in from the gem store combined with new account sales and that number is easy for NCSoft to guard.

Can’t they see the total number of accounts accessed in the past month? As for the first part of your post those are the older statistics I heard about but I’m curious what it’s like now.

So we all heard about the over a million people having bought the game around launch time but I haven’t heard any recent updates. It’s been about 2ish months now and I’m really curious how many people have bought the game and how many active accounts there currently are.
