Yup, had the getting the locked running when picking up an item thing quite frequently or not being able to pick up an item. It was really noticeable for the first time during simins but with so many things that require picking up in the new dungeon it’s become even more obvious.

I preferred being rewarded tokens to buy weapons and armour. I can semi tolerate things like rings being RNG as long as they can be sold for those people getting doubles.
I would really prefer gear to be bought with tokens, please. The whole reason I hate WoW raiding was the unfairness of drops and rolls. I love the way the rewards in the current dungeon work now that they include karma. Maybe a bit more tier 6 mats dropping and more rares but other than that it’s great.
I don’t want to have to GRIND a dungeon to get armour/weapons I need or want without a guarantee I can buy it with tokens.

Eesh, I built both of those… guess I need to toughen them up a bit…
The dolphins are the cutest thing ever
I don’t think the swamp one is easy per say unless you have a well coordinated group but that’s the point of dungeons, working together. It’s why a lot of pugs struggle with them.
The water ones are really cool except perhaps the boss fight, we find Mr.Jelly far too easy but we haven’t gotten to the agony stage yet so it might change on higher levels (Been taking it easy helping guildies out with their fractals etc).
(Btw, Any ETA for the Arah gate bug? The one where you can’t enter the dungeon. It’s still bugged and we miss lupi
waypoint contested also on Desolation)

Me and many other people on our server and guild are really worried now that someone can apparently bypass e-mails, passwords, authenticators. I hope they’re pushing for the rollback of items program ASAP. I won’t feel safe till I know any damage done can be undone.

The reason why Arah is hard is because the gate is never open so people can’t actually get in it. The undefeated champion boss, Mr.Gate
Me and my party been wanting to do Arah but haven’t been able to in ages due to the gate issue.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
I still see plenty of people doing other dungeons, the main problem is that the Arah gate is STILL not fixed so people still can’t do the arah dungeon.

I’ve never had any bugs with Kholer but this one is quite funny, We were fighting him and he randomly went into the floor. Not sure how it happened but you can just see his boss icon in the screenshot below. We had to aoe him to kill him
He wouldn’t get out at all. Wouldn’t let us loot him either once he was killed.
(Also haven’t seen cave troll in a few runs now, thought he was meant to always spawn now?)

What’s even more space consuming is the many in between crafting ingredients that don’t go into collectibles. I have no clue why they didn’t put these under collectibles because when you level several crafting professions they completely overtake your bank space. For example Pile of stirfry spice mix or resilient green inscription. Things like that should be collectible.

Well let them farm Arah boss 1, Just take note of whose doing that and put them on /ignore so you don’t accidently group up with people who can’t do it.. You’ll be happy in the knowledge that you’re completing it with far more tokens in far less time and better rewards.

I would love to know how I’m meant to get enough money to get either rares or ecto’s even with doing fractals when I’m trying to get the legendary and ascended backpiece.
That’s a good 550 ecto’s you need there roughly. Thats 126.50 gold + 200 for precursor (dawn) + 100 icy runes + whatever crafting/lodestone you need another 400 or more (170 gold for lodestone alone).
Trust me I’ve been trying to gather them for 2 months and only got about 30 of some mats and 2 lodestone, drop chance far too low for half the things unless I’m very unlucky which would make sense since some free trialist got two precursors during the one time event when I got nothing.
A legendary comes to probably 1k gold. With 1 gold being worth 85 gems at the moment it’ll be about 1 pound roughly per 1 gold, that’s 1k real life money for a legendary and an ascended backpiece…what..the..hell?! (Apologies for my terrible maths correct me if I’m wrong but the sum of money would roughly come to 1000 british pounds/nearly 1600 US dollars).
I’ve played this game 1117 hours and I see people running around with legendaries, precursors and what not because they mostly got lucky either by drops or playing the trading post game which I’m terrible with and which is now entirely dominated by the rich.
The way it stands a normal person playing the game normally (which I’m not with having so much play time yet I’m struggling because I’m really unlucky let alone someone who plays less) even with fractals giving a better amount it’s far too unrealistic to obtain versus the lucky ones. This makes legendaries not about achievement but luck.
RNG = bad….period. Legendaries should NOT be about luck, they should be a reward for hard work it should be fair and equal in requirement in regards to obtaining it. I HATED RNG in games like WoW I stopped playing it because I HATE gambling. At least make the drops more frequent if you’re going to do RNG so it’s more realistically obtainable.
I love this game to death but stop punishing your majority player base, please.

I think we were fortunate with the ‘zerg’ we had, we all helped each other by rezzing best we could and people generally didn’t stand in things too much. I messed up plenty of times myself but it was a long fight so it’s hard to stay concentrated :P

I have to be honest, This is the first time that I’m really disappointed. I loved the event, I’ve loved everything Anet has done thus far with this game and been patient and tolerant even with the really frustrating game bugs like the Arah gate or the lag crab fest on phase 1, I’ve mostly laughed it off. I’ve probably been one of the biggest supporters.
But working those 3 hours through that event and see people and guildies get precursors that I’ve been working on for so long I have to say it did upset me quite a bit. I actually dreamed twice now of dawn dropping, that’s how much I’ve been wanting a legendary and then this happens…
I thought the mystic forge was bad enough but this just feels like another stab in the back to the people who’ve actually been working for a long time and been having bad luck. When a free trialist gets two precursors. Seriously Anet, that cut me deep.
I don’t care how many people claim in this topic that its completely fair because no it’s NOT fair, I’ve been working hard for it while someone whose never even played the game before got the double lottery winning.
It would be nice if my efforts were rewarded for once. I’m sorry to say Anet but I’m not a happy costumer at the moment solely for that specific reason. As for the event, I loved it and enjoyed it. Well done on that front.

If the dungeon is in the Mists, why not have a gate in each city?
People would still mostly stay in Lion’s Arch because that’s where everyone is and where everything is happening so I don’t think that would really effective.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
I don’t really mind it being in Lion’s Arch but I would’ve preferred it to be in Divinity’s Reach, I love that city it’s so nicely made yet I have no good reason to be there most of the time

I wondered about this myself and assumed it was in tiers as well would be interesting to hear if this is the case or if we continue receiving the same loot.

So I’m one of those people who likes using double-tap to evade (I know I seem to be a minority) my problem now is with the new dungeons having semi jumping puzzles I like to switch it off just to be safe but then end up forgetting I switched it off and go into combat finding out I can’t dodge!
It’s then really fidgety having to go into the options menu each time to turn it off when you’re being attacked. I think some sort of way to bind a key to toggle it on/off would be great.

I think what Carighan is saying is pretty much exactly how I feel, I don’t see how the additional few seconds stops enemy zergs from getting into a keep. While the only reason I ever really use portals (jumping puzzles, getting people unstuck) has just become more frustrating as I found out yesterday when I was attempting the new jumping puzzle I probably wasted a good 15 minutes just waiting on cooldowns in case I fell and to help others across.

I just wanted to point out the post a Dev made in regards to Ascended gear as people still think that they made some sort of dramatic change (Which it really isn’t). Sure it’s an upgrade but a small one, plus they don’t intend on adding new gear continiously but rather to create a tier between legendary and exotic that can be used to modify using infusions for specific gameplay rather than runes. Makes sense to me.
I’d like to respond to concerns players have raised about ascended items. Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.
Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.
Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.
Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores.Chris Whiteside – Studio Design Director
As for end game I think there is plenty there to do but a lot of people rushed to the end of the game rather than enjoying the journey there. Anet has said from the start that playing the game at any level is the end-game, They even initially considered not having levels at all yet still people rushed to end-game.
That said though there is still plenty to do at end-game from explorable dungeons, getting weapons/armour that you want and now with the new fractals dungeon it’ll give the more hardcore pve’ers a challenge to get to the highest level in that dungeon in the world.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
Dungeons need a Res Shrine of some form, having to wait for a party wipe or the rest of the party to finish the remaining zone is plain and simple ridiculous, and in noway fun. Not everyone is a hardcore puzzle jumper or have the best reaction to a critical situation.
As someone mention above, you could have added a waypoint that only works out of combat. So when the rest of the party is done with whatever their fighting you would then be able to use the waypoint. And it still eliminates the WP zerging.
And if im not mistake you already know a way to do this considering you currently cant use a waypoint if a mob has tagged you. You just have to bind it to the hole party in a dungeon.
You can finish an encounter and then resurrect the person whose defeated, there is no need to wait. If you have trouble finding the person from what I can tell they always teleport to the same location that you can run back to.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
Jumping is part of the gameplay just like dodging and running around is. I don’t see why they should remove this for a couple of people. Sure I can sympathise if you have trouble with depth perception but just like some people struggle with dodging it doesn’t mean dodging should be removed. In the same way they shouldn’t remove jumping for the same reason.
Dungeons were meant to be the harder PvE content and so if you have trouble with it perhaps it’s just not for you? The jumping things we have encountered so far seemed quite reasonable al though we haven’t seen all fractal areas yet. Just get a group with you who are willing to take their time and be supportive if you struggle too much.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
I think this is a brilliant idea it encourages teamwork and I’d imagine at the higher scale levels especially it’ll make the encounters brutal. This way people can’t graveyard zerg fights any more and the dungeons are fairly short to walk through so it doesn’t feel like a chore either to get through it like Twilight Arbor if you do wipe.
I can tell Anet has really paid close attention to all the issues people had with dungeons and did an excellent job at addressing them. Really very impressed. I can imagine it’ll frustrate some people that they actually have to work with people but perhaps they learn for once that kindness pays off more than selfishness.
I especially like that it’s easy enough for lower levels to do but hard enough for hardcore groups to keep going for the hardest levels.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •

I seriously can’t imagine 12 groups failing at that dungeon it’s so easy at the first scaling level. I can imagine you can do it with a full level 1 group that’s scaled up who have basic knowledge of the games mechanics. It just requires half a brain to figure out the tactics.
This isn’t an issue of fail design, it’s an issue of players inability to dodge away from a red circle and it’s also the case that the dungeon is brand new, a lot of players don’t know how to play a game unless they’re told exactly how and what to do.
This has zero to do with design, The dungeon is really well and interestingly made. People said AC was too difficult when the game launched as well. Give it some time, people will learn the tactics and you can run your PuG dungeon.

Yup just had the same problem myself I only got one bag during the CoE 2 path run in stead of 3 :/
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
We also gave those three sub-bosses a guaranteed item called a “Bag of Wondrous Goods” which will give the players a consumable Karma item worth 400 karma, and a consumable monetary item worth up to 4 silver.
We just did CoE path 2, I received only one of the bags on the golem boss with the four turrets while another person in my party also got one at the end boss (So only received two) and another got 3 bags in total.
I thought it was a guaranteed thing to get on 3 bosses on each path and not a random drop? The bag that is. I believed it was random what you received in the bag, not the bag itself. It also means I only got 3 extra tokens. Bug or?
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •

We just did all 3 AC paths twice, and we noticed that if you get the special “unique” masterwork item, it seems to replace the bag. Otherwise, we’d get the bag every time. Also, it only dropped from the legendary bosses: Spider Queen, Kholer, and whatever end boss you had for that path. The masterwork unique seems to rob your profit from one of the bags, but at least the boss drops 10s in coins.
They did say that only 3 sub-bosses drop the bag not the others. They selected 3 in each dungeon to drop the bag so, don’t think it’s anything to do with masterwork items.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
I still just ask my groups whether or not they want to kill him. The few extra silvers aren’t half bad, but some people still find tokens most important.
To each their own. It’s barely even worth arguing over.
But you get 3 tokens each for killing spider queen, cave troll and kholer… that’s 9 tokens more than if you did the dungeon by skipping bosses.

Wow okay. So I guess the people on the forums are illiterate. I state that he was spamming his shadow walk attack which he had never done before and, for some reason, a bunch of people reply with guides on how to do Lupicus? Err… Okay?
Anyway. After this most recent patch the problems in these dungeons with bosses spamming attacks seem to have been fixed so I request that this thread be deleted.
P.S. I question the usefulness of the GW2 forums given the responses found here. Perhaps get rid of the forums to save server space or something?
You posted complaining about dying a lot on Lupicus in the dungeon forums (not the game bugs forums) if you thought it was a bug then post in the game bugs forum.
From what I can read though the shadow step is behaving normally, he always targets one person till they’re dead. So the reason why people are giving you advice is because you’re having trouble with the fight (dying) thus doing something wrong (most likely) and you just need to practice rather than instantly assuming it’s a bug because you can’t do it.
If you still think its a bug as I said you can report it via the in game bug report system or in the game bugs section and describe each occasion of this happening in more detail as you aren’t really explaining exactly what happened, in what circumstances. The dev’s would need to know this in order to fix it.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
there are three dungeon sub bosses that will drop the loot bags.
Just did AC explorable with the new bags, loot drops were not consistent. On first clear spider queen dropped a 35 green item and no bag for me, subsequent runs I got the new loot bags. This is an issue I noticed in AC pre patch where some mobs (queen and kholer most noticably) sometimes dropped unscaled loot. Should SQ be dropping a bag for each level 80 player per kill and is this in fact a bug with unscaled loot dropping?
Interesting, Now you mention it. Even though we did get the new bags for the three bosses, I did notice one of them gave me only lvl 35 loot. I just assumed that was normal that you sometimes get lvl 35 things and didn’t really look too closely at what I got.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
We had no problems with path 3, the bags dropped from as Terra above mentioned, Spider Queen, Cave Troll and Kholer. We got the normal reward pop up with the 60 tokens at the end of the dungeon as always.

I’m seeing a lot of people reacting to Magic Find being an issue here, so I felt I should clarify something.
Magic find has always effected dungeon creature drops – we haven’t changed that at all. Magic find does not effect chest drops however. This has always been the case in dungeons.
The mention of Magic Find for the sub bosses, is to say that we have given them unique loot drops, and that Magic Find is a factor in what you get from them. That is no different in the past as it has been in the future. The more Magic Find you have, the better chances of obtaining a rarer item.
Thanks for clarifying, It makes sense now. Just like any other loot bag you get I assume? I just hope people don’t switch to Magic Find gear en masse believing that there is some sort of massive change.
Just ran AC and got the bags from Spider Queen and Cave Troll but I’m especially happy you get it on Kholer. Finally people will stop skipping him! Also happy that the final reward hasn’t changed.
I think 3 tokens and a bit of karma for each is a good compromise without making it tempting for people to farm just the first couple of bosses as it would take just as long to reset a dungeon as it would completing it (Al though I’m sure some people will still try).
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •

Had a lvl 80 rare drop from a level 2 mob as well :/ To be honest I think this is a good idea in a way because it will give higher levels incentive to go to lower level areas though they should adjust scaling better because a lvl 80 in exotics can one shot level 2 mobs easily making it far too easy to farm and we’ll get a brackish skale zerg in stead of orr zerg.

To be honest I’m not sure magic find is a good idea in dungeons unless they come standard with ascended gear without losing the value of the other stats by having magic find. In dungeons especially the valuable stats are important, losing that to magic find which many people will do is a bad thing. I hope ascended gear will account for that and we wont loose secondary stats in favour of magic find gear.
