1 BE The Gods give magic to the races of Tyria.
0 AE They split the bloodstone

Scriptures of Grenth, 48 BE

Thats about all I can give you thats remotely helpful and I realize it isn’t really helpful at all. I know there are a lot of people who know more on the topic and there is a rather large discussion somewhere on the GW2guru forums about Malchor and the gods.

There is some Malchor stuff in here:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74556-on-the-origin-of-the-human-gods-of-tyria/

Those two might interest you to read, although if you haven’t played GW1 or aren’t familiar with it’s storyline you might get a bit lost?

What Happened to the Krytans?

It is entirely possible that true Krytans had pale skin, like Ascalonians and presumably Orrians and that instead the darker “Krytans” that we saw in GW1 were actually descendants of the Crystal Desert pilgrims from Elona… Some who somehow didn’t die in the Crystal desert with the rest of Turai Ossa’s followers?

A question about the Dredge

in Lore

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

In GW1 there was an Elite Dungeon called Sorrow’s Furnace where the player aids the dwarves in taking down the Stone Summit’s operations in Sorrows Furnace (where the Stone Summit had dredge slaves working for them).

So that is sort of the start of the dredge uprising against the Stone Summit.

ALSO, really important to remember, the Dwarves were all turned to stone and ran off to fight the Great Destroyer and Primordius, thus freeing the Dredge completely. (The Stone Summit didn’t like humans, they were still Dwarves and believed in the Great Dwarf and the Tome of Rubicon so they weren’t exempt from turning to stone and going off to battle).

I doubt the dredge have been keeping great records about dwarven achievements.

Thats true. But it was humans (us in GW1) who fought the Stone Summit and the Iron Forgeman in Sorrows Furnace which subsequently enabled the Dredge rebellion.

That isn’t information likely to have been lost, especially with the Priory around.

Yes the dredge may have been used as labour but it was a structure designed and overseen by the Stone Summit. It isn’t of Dredge architecture and they did not devise it, and it is therefore not a dredge construct.

I know my GW1 lore just fine thank you very much >.>

GW2 wiki also agrees with me: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Iron_Forgeman
GW1 wiki says nothing on the subject, but we know that Sorrows Furnace was created and run by the Stone Summit who were using the Dredge as slaves. The Forgeman himself is of Dwarven devising.

People use the ground targeting

^ This

Although you are correct OP in your discussion (the green circles for ground targetting are smaller than the enlarged spell effects) did you realise you can skip that bit altogether? In the options menu you can disable the ground targeting so that the spells will automatically be cast wherever your mouse is… No more green circles, no more pointless clicking.

It is not only twice as fast, but will remove the green circles issue for you. It takes a little while to get 100% used to it, but if you stick with it you won’t go back

It’s actually beneficial to have ground targeting in a lot of different situations. So yes for some people fast casting is a great solution and cuts out something that for them is unnecessary. But there are a lot of us who actually make a lot of use out of ground targeting.

Why do Sylvari have genders?

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

Personally I might be inclined to believe that as the Pale Tree grew she observed the world around her and created children that would be at least in some ways familiar to the world around them.

By giving Sylvari the appearance of gender the other races aren’t left feeling as though they’re strange and different.

As an extension of that Sylvari then perform gender as it is dictated/enacted by the other races of Tyria, integrating them further in with the other races. It all works well towards her goal of defeating Zhaitan, which her children end up playing a pretty pivotal role in.

More than one Pale Tree?

Through one of the Sylvari storylines we do know that there is another Pale Tree with Sylvari. I think that the Sylvari from that pale tree doesn’t know what the dream of dreams is which suggests that is something unique to our tree.

Also the Nightmare court are initially unaware of this so they probably have no sway over this other tree.

No you’re 100% right and it’s not just an issue effecting you.

The ground target BEFORE you cast the skill is regular sized. However, as you have said already the skills themselves are appropriately enlarged (except for a few like Meteor Shower).
I would hazard a guess that other people just aren’t understanding what you mean/they aren’t as keen eyed as you are. I’m quite certain it’s a game wide issue.

Personally I’ve learned to judge the size the AoE will be pretty well, so it’s not a huge issue.

Right click targeting isn’t even a feature O_O.

Right click is, as in almost all other MMO’s used for camera control. Almost all players are using it for camera control and in doing so left click is left open for targeting, just as it should be.

It is not a feature to right click and hold and have it target an enemy, it’s an unintended side effect that needs to go away pronto >.>

Presumably a good portion of them were wiped out in the menagerie, but (considering their life cycle) they’d be pretty kitten hard to eradicate completely. We can easily assume the practice of making fleshreavers still exists based on the graverobbing necro in Kessex with his fleshreaver pets.

You don’t make fleshreavers. They make themselves.

They’re a living race – they give birth to skeletal infants and add dead flesh to act as their own non-existent skin.

Rragar Maneater was simply trying to tame these creatures. He did not make or create any. In Eye of the North, there were just as many Fleshreavers in the depths beneath the Shiverpeak Mountains than there were in Rragar’s Menagerie.

Yes but do you know anything else that comes out of the mists…. The only other thing we know to have come from/through the mists are the Gods. SO i personally find it interesting that Fleshreavers are coming into Tyria in places of power/items of power from the mists.

Titans, demons, anything you find in World versus World. Skale. Wind Riders. Dryders. Behemoths. Nightmares (aka “evil spirits” like Aatxes, Shades, etc.), souls.

There’s a kitten ton of stuff that comes from or thrives within the Mists, not just the gods.

Yes I know that. The point wasn’t actually that the gods are all we know that came out of the mists (they were simply all I could immediately think of at the time) but rather that it’s a pretty big deal when things do and quite often there is some kind of larger reason for these things happening, rather than ‘oh hey, I just strolled through from the mists’.

I don’t see anything particularly noteworthy about that. The mists are the building blocks of reality and fleshreavers are real. Hell, I’d be worried if there weren’t any of them in the mists.

Presumably a good portion of them were wiped out in the menagerie, but (considering their life cycle) they’d be pretty kitten hard to eradicate completely. We can easily assume the practice of making fleshreavers still exists based on the graverobbing necro in Kessex with his fleshreaver pets.

Also, they weren’t made in the Menagerie, Rragar was simply trying to train them. We don’t know for certain where they come from, only that they were in Rragar’s Menagerie and the depths of Tyria in GW1, and now they’re coming through portals from the mists. It’s the fact that they’re coming through that is of note, not that they exist within the mists.

I would be inclined to say that it isn’t anything to do with Jotun magic since the event ends with a Veteran Fleshreaver coming through the portal.

I started the event at the " Capture Taidha Covington’s southern defensive tower" stage and followed all the way though. The damage I dealt her WAS registering so I don’t think that was the issue.

I got a gold completion award at the end and I was able to open the chest and get that reward no problem. It’s just the achievement that didn’t log

Level 80 Sylvari Elementalist if that makes a difference.

Much appreciated if this could be looked into. I know it’s just an achievement, but I want my shinies.

Eeek. I can understand why some people might want this. But as an Elementalist there are a lot of situations where I use ground target skills on enemies that aren’t my target so that I can work on taking down large areas at once >.>

I have one small tip. Always keep your mouse in the very centre of the screen, that way, even when you are using it for camera control, your ground target skills will always be in the middle of the screen and all you have to do is look at the enemy you want to target with them. I find this works really well and actually makes battle a lot easier.

Not going to happen..
There is a reason Day/Night are on a short cycle.
Can you imagine how frustrating it would be if the only time you had to play Guild Wars was at night because you had a job with long hours and therefore never got to play in Tyria when it was nice and sunny…

Also, having it in sync with the server time means that there is only one small area of the world where day/night is occurring at the “correct” time, which means that to everyone else anywhere else in the world other than whatever part of America the server time is would find it insanely meaningless.

What they have now is good >.>

I am however all for more dynamic weather systems.
They do have it in place, I know that at Morgans Spiral it’s usually sunny but one or two times I’ve hung out there while it was raining and it was gorgeous. But I don’t think many parts of the world are set up to have weather and I would really like it if they added that later on.

Especially in areas like Gendarren Fields or Queensdale, I think they would be gorgeous while raining!

FlamingFoxx.1305

Yes it devalues your achievement. But consider for a second that it isn’t about them making it easier for all the people who were too “bad” to accomplish it.

There are a lot of players like me who were consistently being placed into groups that had already lost Dolyaks and therefore couldn’t get the achievement. Before they changed it I had rejoined/retried a LOT of times and not once did I end up in a group who had just started and still had all of the Dolyaks alive.

They had to change the achievement because they didn’t have the time to change the game mechanic to allow a pre-established party to join. So perhaps try looking at all possibilities before you go accusing them of catering to whinging. I for one am very grateful that they realised it needed to be changed because people were ending up in groups where there was NO possibility of getting this.

FlamingFoxx.1305

There isn’t really a solution to this.
In Windows you are playing GW2. In OSX you are playing GW2 through a cider wrapper that is emulating the way windows runs it. OSX Doesn’t have Direct X, instead it relies on OpenGL for graphics, which means that your computer is having to do a lot more work when it’s in OSX to render the same things. Upgrading your hardware will have minimal effects on this.

In response to Hollywood Votary – your aftermarket 12GB RAM is of little consequence to GW2 – the game is heavily GPU and CPU intensive and anything over 4GB of RAM will make almost no difference whatsoever – except that maybe you’ll be able to run background apps at the same time without it badly effecting GW2. But the RAM itself won’t improve your performance.

You might be able to improve performance by opening Finder>>Navigate to your user folder>>Hold the option key and click “Go” in the menu bar>>Select Library(it only shows up while you hold option)>>Application Support>>Guild Wars 2>>In there is a file called config, open it up in text edit and go “Cmd+F” (to do a search) and type in VideoRam. The VideoRam I think is set to 512 by default, if you change that to 1024 then it might force the transgaming wrapper to recognise all of your VRam. Make sure you create a backup of that config file just incase, you can leave the backup in the same folder and just call it “config.copy” or something.

To the OP, what kind of MBP do you have? If it is a 13" then that might explain the issues – the intel graphics card doesn’t really have enough power. However if you have a 15" like me then however the game is performing is how it’s probably going to continue to perform.

I believe you are the liar. I have yet to see them act unprofessionally not have I seen an evidence they have. You on the other hand have a history of making false accusations and claims, while offering no proof of your claims. Which is unprofessional.

They have continually given us exact times of when content would be released (e.g. with Halloween, the Lost Shores and now with Wintersday) and then failed to meet those deadlines – often putting the content out at the last possible minute and failing to explain whats going on to their userbase. That is what said person meant by unprofessional – and it is based on observable fact.

And random thought, Razah could possibly in some way be the Colossus, couldn’t it? I don’t remember a lot about his/its story, but I think it took the form of a humanesque being because that’s what was familiar. Perhaps it took the form of the Colossus, because evil chanters were trying to harness his mistness.

Razah has a human-like form because “When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.” I don’t think Razah can actually change his form at all, but its entirely possible that the colossus was formed in the mists in much the same way as Razah was – by the mists coming into contact with some form of human-like template.

FlamingFoxx.1305

I do hope you’re just being sarcastic there, which I’m fairly sure you are, seeing how nothing says or implies largos can’t be corrupted.

Since the game models comprise the game and thus populate Tyria, the lack of a corrupted largo model means they are immune to corruption. We see Dougal in-game so we know he exists, and we see images of and references to Snaff, so he obviously exists as well.

BY that logic – we do not see Vizier Khilbron and therefore he does not exist… lmao.

Yes the in game models tell you what is there, but an absence of a model does not tell you what is not there. You could say “There is no model for flying pigs in GW2!”, but until Anet specifically states that there are no flying pigs anywhere in Tyria you cannot truly say that there aren’t.

There is a lot we don’t know about the Largos, the absence of Risen Largos doesn’t tell you anything other than that none were corrupted that we saw in game. Anet using the model they created for something different tells you nothing either – it’s entirely possible it was created by someone on the team and then they realised there would be no reason for a Largos to have been near Zhaitan to be corrupted, and therefore used the model for something else instead so as not to put it to waste. Likewise it is entirely possible that Largos are immune to corruption – but based on the evidence we are presented with that is not a conclusion you can make without it being a logical fallacy.

A more interesting question is: why are Sylvari sexually dimorphic? Plants, of course, have both male and female parts. Is there any chance the Sylvari are similarly hermaphroditic? What’s nature’s plan for a race that don’t reproduce through any kind of sex but are still outfitted with sexual organs?

The seed of the Pale Tree was planted on a mass grave of humans. There’s a lot about the sylvari’s origins that raise questions, and it’s never outright stated that being planted on a mass grave is the reason the sylvari look human, but most people think it’s the reason.

Except that we now know that there are Sylvari who come from OTHER Pale Trees and still look distinctly Sylvari. Considering their pale trees were not planted on human graves (or at least it’s unlikely to be so) I don’t think thats the reason for Sylvari looking the way they do at all :P

First of all: What is the error message you are getting.

Try this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/If-GW2-will-not-launch
See if it fixes it.

It’s possible that your graphics card is overheating a bit, or that there is a bottle neck somewhere in the system while it’s running – you have a good processor and plenty of RAM (although GW2 can’t make use of it all) but your graphics card is very weak in comparison so that could be putting pressure on it.

I’d suggest performing a SMC reset, just in case the fans aren’t working 100% correctly?

Haha, sorry you really don’t have the hardware for it xD.
The system is already hogging resources from your graphics card to be able to push out at such a high native resolution, adding trying to play a game inside a cider wrapper just isn’t going to get you anywhere when the game itself is so GPU and CPU intensive.

Mac’s are not gaming machines, so sure you have a decent amount of RAM and your graphics card and processor are absolutely wonderful for running things like Final Cut Pro and Photoshop – but gaming, not so much.

Consider that your machine has relatively similar specs to a regular Macbook Pro, but with a much higher resolution – your performance is going to be worse than anyone with a 15" MBP, but thats the price you pay for a more portable machine.

18-25 FPS is relatively standard for GW2 on a mac. With all of the settings on High thats what I get, with settings on medium I get around 25-35, if I turn everything down to low (except with Sampling on Native) then it’s around 60FPS.
