Sylvari Elementalist No speed boosts

I’ve completed four of the achievements: Halloween Huntin, Master Carver, Mad Kings Clock Tower and the Trick or Treat bag achievement, all of them are maxed out, but the achievement that tracks how many Halloween achievements you’ve done still only says 2 instead of 4.

What are your macs specs? If you post them they perhaps they’ll have a better idea of what hardware it isn’t performing that well in.

- What on earth do you mean by that? Anet is doing any account wipes or anything like that..

I strongly suggest you post your computers specs here so that Anet can figure out why it’s happening for you.
I haven’t heard of anyone having this issue before and I haven’t experienced it myself.

Same for Gendarren Fields on Sea of Sorrows.
They do eventually go away I think, since often if I log out for a couple of hours then come back they’re gone and the spawn location works correctly. But they do seem to stay there doing absolutely nothing for an awful long time.

I also have an iMac the same as Bistouri’s but unfortunately I get the same choppiness as I do on my MBP now (since the halloween update).

With the latest update which changed MTD3D to =4 I experienced jerky movement every few seconds. So I manually went into the config and changed it back to =0 and now my game runs smoothly.
I have a 15" MBP 2.2Ghz i7, 4GB RAM and an AMD Radeon 6750M (1680×1050 display).
Perhaps you guys didn’t quite smooth out the kinks with ATI cards quite enough?

It is listed under the “Options” heading in the Mac Beta Known Issues post by Anet in this forum. So I’d definitely be inclined to think that it’s something they’re working on.

2008 iMac?
If so then it’s probably your computer. I have a newer iMac which I play GW2 one. But from past experiences with my 08 iMac, when the fans are running and it’s working hard it does make this weird sporadic sound. Absolutely nothing you can do about it, quite certain it’s internal hardware related.

If you’re talking about a different 08 machine, then disregard my entire post xD

Open your applications folder>.Right Click GW2>>Show Package Contents>>Contents
>>Resources>>transgaming>>c_drive>>GW2
Then create a ‘Music’ folder in there and chuck some songs in there and test it out?

First of all, what machine are you running the game on? On my MBP and iMac it does take a few seconds, but it doesn’t freeze while it’s doing it.

My biggest suggestion would be to change the format of your screenshots. By default OSX saves screesnhots as .png, which is great in terms of quality but it is a little slower. If you change the default screenshot extension to .jpg I would imagine there would be an increase in speed and you shouldn’t loose out on quality.

Doing a google for “change os x screenshot format” should get you the instructions you need.

Make sure you aren’t running any other apps in the background. Also, I think that when you take a screenshot it actually has to render the entire thing, which would explain why it takes a little while?

I haven’t directly tried PlayOnMac, but it uses Wine, the same as Crossover, which I have extensively played GW2 on.

The official GW2 Beta client for Mac definitely runs the game better than wine. The performance is great on my machine and there are no hiccups, whereas with wine there are issues, both graphical and performance wise.

If your mac meets the minimum specifications for the GW2 beta client then why not upgrade your machine to Mountain Lion?

Pretty sure that all new macs have high enough specs to run GW2 just fine.
My MBP is almost a year old and I can run GW2 with the highest available settings with decent FPS (At least with FPS that doesn’t bother me).
The only thing worth noting is that the fans will run most of the time while you’re playing, thats kind of unavoidable playing on a laptop though.

(Also going to have to disagree with the person above. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that it actually runs better in windows/through bootcamp)

- REALLY good performance but the fans run near constantly. If you have an iMac use that instead. I have a 27" iMac which has lower specs than the laptop, but they both run it on the highest graphics settings with no problems. The difference is that the fans on the iMac don’t run (or at least run very quietly)

10.6.8 is unsupported. You need to upgrade to either Lion or Mountain Lion, Apple only supports their most recent two operating systems (Lion and Mountain Lion) so Anet is doing the same.

That is probably because it already has a lot of controls bound to it..
The command key is equivalent to the windows key on a windows computer, which I’m quite sure you can’t bind things to either.

If you could bind to it you’d end up coming into problems because you’d no doubt end up conflicting with default bindings, like Command + C for copy, or Command + Tab to change applications.

The Physical CD is a windows CD and uses a .exe setup file to install GW2.

Your only option would be to use something like wine to begin the installation process from the CD and then copy the files over. But if that sounds confusing at all then it’s probably not something you could manage easily.

Those options allow you to use finger dragging (on a magic mouse or trackpad) to change the camera angle, instead of having to hold down right click.
So you have the option of having the mouse function as a scroll or as camera movement.

The only thing I can suggest would be to open up System Preferences (In the applications folder). Go to the Displays Panel and then check that Colour is set to the default (probably Colour LCD).

I personally think there is nothing “natural” about natural scrolling. You spend most of your time scrolling down, on a mouse that movement has always been a pull, but OSX turns it into a push by default. That is insanely bad for your fingers. Enjoy your arthritis!

I don’t think there is any way they can remedy this for you. Either they could force it to use “unnatural” scrolling, which would mean it would be the reverse of what you’re used to even in menus. Or you just switch off natural? :S

I think you will get used to it after a day or two, same way people can easily adjust to inverted camera movements etc.

Just FYI, if you already have it installed via bootcamp or wine or something like that, you can copy the .dat file over (someone else posted instructions in these forums) it makes it a lotttt faster.

This has to do with how OSX itself handles Screenshots. It’s independent of GW…
If you want to mess with system settings you can get OSX to save screenshots as jpg by default and in another folder, but this will apply to every single screenshot, not just those from GW.

Uhh no…
FXAA is pretty much artificial anti-aliasing, it only effects the edges of objects.
I have Native rendering and FXAA both on and my game isn’t blurry at all.

Can I suggest changing it from Windowed Fullscreen to just plain fullscreen and seeing if that makes a difference?

Mine was out of the Shadow Behemoth Chest. Was that also part of the accidental loot part? The Whisperer weapons are listed as loot for the chest on the Wiki, although thats quite possibly just because others were getting them as well?

I think I can confirm this.
I had a Whisperer Staff which I had put in my bag (the kind of bag that is ignored by merchants) and was planning to use the skin of. When I booted up the next day it had been replaced by a regular staff… Kind of annoying.
I’m wondering if Whisperer weapons have accidentally been removed completely since you can’t search for them in the trading post either?

While there is no first person view. If you open up the options menu there is a tilt option (don’t remember exactly what its called) that lets you slide it left or right so that when you zoom in your character is actually off-centre and not in the way.

Having the exact same issue.
If I change from Fire attunement to Air and there happens to be an enemy around then my character decides it’s time to send a fire bolt and then start auto attacking air…
Happens regardlless of whether or not you’re touching any other buttons or moving etc.

This isn’t too major but it could be exploitable. If you have used the conjure fiery great sword elite and open the world map just before the timer runs out it disregards the expiry time. So you can then carry it around as long as you want. It disappears after you use it once. But thats still one more time than you should be able to use it.
