-snip-.

When you point a finger at someone else there are always two pointing back at you…
It is a matter of opinion as to whether or not there are more possible classes.. GW2 covers almost every niche. GW1 ended up with a total of 12 professions and GW2 sought to contract that number and combine a lot of the mechanics into a smaller number of classes while still retaining those that really made GW Prophecies what it is.

Most other “classes” that you could add to the game would be superfluous. Yes people would get excited by the notion of a new profession, but because the GW2 professions already cover a lot of the bases newer professions would probably ending up seeming a bit ridiculous. Not to mention the issues that come with balance. Anet learned from GW1 that when you have a ton of professions and a ton of skills balance becomes a huge issue. They’ve already made comments about that and used it as a reason for the reduction in professions and skills from GW1.

The OP got excited by the idea of Ritualists because they were a much loved class from GW1. Not entirely necessary because the mechanics do exist in game with the Necromancer, Engineer and Guardian. But as I just pointed out there is no ONE class that does what the Ritualist did, or with such visual flare. Don’t be so rude when discussing something that is entirely a matter of opinion.

Do you know what it NOT funny. Listening to that -pulls hair out-

I think you sort of hit the nail on the head by saying that all profession roles have already been filled.

I don’t think there’s a whole lot of likelihood of them adding new professions. Although part of me pines over the loss of Ritualists and I know a lot of others feel the same about the Dervish.

I do recall reading someone on the forums mentioning that Anet has said they were unlikely to add new professions. But I’ve never seen a quote to accompany the claim and others always post saying they’ve heard the opposite.

Short answer, we don’t really know for certain. But I do suspect the answer is probably a no, especially considering that Anet seems to want to release these smaller monthly updates rather than full-blown expansions. Their response on actual expansions (the only real chance for new professions) was MAYBE two or three years down the line.

Well, soldiers are the only classification without a class that uses an alternate mechanic instead of weapon swapping. Something like a class that swaps stance styles with a single set, a spellsword of some sort that alternates between melee and range with each weapon, or a druidic heavy class that changes his inner animal to completely change his weapon skills (sort of like a more creative Udyr from League of Legends) would all be worthy candidates.

You aren’t going to see anything remotely similar to a Druid. We have the Norn who can change form, they aren’t going to add a profession that mimics a racial ability. I can however see how a Dervish or Ritualist could use weapon mechanics other than a weapon swap, (Dervishes with stances of some sort and Ritualists with some sort of communing/spirit channeling kind of bar).

Actually, its the corner we’re on that fell to the ground – but its resting on a cliff, so the points we can fall off of would be going off of said cliff.

Thanks for clearing that up.
All I knew is that it definitely wasn’t Rata Sum in it’s entirety. My brain is still having a little trouble envisioning what one section would look like separated so maybe I’m going to have to go do some more running around Rata Sum.

I always assumed he was a member of Dessa’s crew that she abandoned. The shock of actually seeing him and the abandoned lab again is why she panics and suddenly departs.

That’s always a possibility. But then her “I need to go” sounds a little more confused/panicky than shocked/worried panicky (that’s very nitpicky though xD).
Also she says that before she see’s him, so it kind of suggests that regardless of who he is, her reaction is caused by the ruins, which is where it gets complicated. I do feel like she could be from some strange alternate Rata Sum, simply because if you talk to her as a Sylvari she has no idea what you are.

Any tips for world completion?

FlamingFoxx.1305

It’s really not difficult. I’ve been working towards map completion since launch and each time I’ve gone to a new area I’ve achieved 100% complete before allowing myself to move on.

As for making it a quicker/more enjoyable process. Work your way around a map, sort of like with puzzles where you fill in the edge/corner pieces first I think mapping goes a bit faster if you go around the outside and then work your way in.

Every time you come across an event DO IT. It will make Hearts go a lot quicker. If you enjoy JP’s or achievements then be aware of where they are in each zone. You’ll find the task more enjoyable if you’re breaking it up doing things you enjoy.

Use maps you haven’t finished to work on your Daily achievement. This is actually a really good one since it will get you exploring and remove a little of the tediousness that comes from both mapping and doing the daily.

Keep an eye on WvW. As people have pointed out this can be a really difficult area to map, simply because you cant map a keep if it’s owned by an enemy and people will grief you while you try and get skill points/vistas. If you monitor the WvW tab you can make sure you map areas when your server controls them or is doing really well.

Do it with guild members. I know a lot of people in my guild who map together and they get through maps VERY quickly. Doing it with others is a really effective and efficient way of mapping. Personally I prefer to experience the storyline in areas and go through it slowly. But if you’re just looking to get it done, definitely try and rope some guild members in or join forces with people you encounter in the area, who are probably mapping as well.

Well, that’s an interesting idea as to who the asura is. IMO, this is the best culprit for the raving asura. However, it’s widely believed among the community that the zone is a post-apocalyptic Rata Sum of sort. So it’s not his lab, but perhaps he used his elementals and golems to take over the city, or something.

I think the problem I have with that theory is that it really doesn’t look like Rata Sum at all. The structure is so different. Although that’s not to say it couldn’t be a part of Rata Sum and that the rest has been destroyed/fell to the ground etc. Could always be a Rata something else also.

The only thing I really couldn’t even begin to theorize about is the Cat Golems. But I mean, everyone loves a good Cat right? Even Asura xD.

I just revisited Metrica Province and redid the Jumping Puzzle Goemm’s Lab and I have to say I got slightly unnerved towards the end.

I walked up the stairs of the lab and was once again faced by Goemm the mad, only this was my first time doing the Jumping Puzzle SINCE FoTM has been released.
I immediately thought of the Raving Asura in the Uncategorized Fractal and towards the end of the fight my suspicions were furthered.

Goemm says “I can’t take this (sob)” – He’s already mad, we just pushed him even further over the edge, I don’t feel like it’s such a stretch to think that after us invading his lab he might feel compelled to make it even larger and more dangerous. Resulting in what we see in the uncategorised fractal, something that still retains jumping elements as the JP did, but is even better fortified and protected.

When you reach the Raving Asura in FoTM (who I am now proposing could be Goemm) he says ‘“Breach! Broken! Falling! Screaming! Dying!”’, this to me kind of feels like a massive throwback to the fact that Goemm’s Lab is a JP and his new lab is also a bit of a JP in ways.

The Raving Asura is I think a mesmer? Although I’m not 100% sure. But he seems to shoot out purple bolts quite similar to Goemm’s.

Of course that doesn’t account for the other things thr Raving Asura says, like “all of us abandoned” and “you can’t be here”, but just a thought.

Would love to know what people think.

@mrstealth: It’s already grindy considering the only 4 attractions this game has endgame are FoTM, WvW, for real sadomasochists Orr and AC to grind money. This game offers nothing atm other then the above listed (2 small and easy dungeons, 1 boring map and an excuse of a RvR system which fails in a lot of parts to make ppl actually put effort and dedication in what they do).

Yes i understand all to well what u say above..but that doesn’t mean we have to cut diversity all together. I am talking about Asiatic-themed continents not the mechanics behind them. I just want to explore/enjoy different themes in 1 game, also available for story. If you can’t offer someone diversity in an MMO, that mmo will die eventually..take it however u want.

What’s the difference if they add Cantha to the game? A few maps with different textures to match asiatic culture and a story that has meaning and ties to GW1. I don’t see the “overly grinding part”..atleast not as much as it is now.

The game mechanics/system are already there and already limits “by their nature” the tipical “chinese-grinding” mmos. Even if they do or don’t add new things, the grinding system remains the same…BUT it’s worst not to add then to add if u want to keep buyers happy and paying.

“You can’t please everyone, and trying to do it just ends up pleasing no one.”
That would be valid if GW1 didn’t exist GW1 proved this wrong. It combined not 2, but 3 completely different cultures into 1 game. I don’t know of anyone ever saying something bad about that…and they all had the same level of grinding in them. If u went to Cantha that didn’t mean u needed to grind 10x more because it was asiatic themed… that’s just silly.

If anything Anet actually learned well and progressed a lot with each release. Prophecies had a long drawn out leveling curve, which was great and it worked.
With Factions they laid it out differently and you hit max level much much much quicker, and Nightfall added Heroes to the mix. So each campaign sort of lessened ‘grind’, although I really hate that word especially in relation to GW1 because the only things that were a grind were titles and they were completely optional.

We need Cantha Anet. It is such a beautiful continent with an amazingly rich history and a lot of important ties to Tyria. So <3 please bring it back at some point!

I agree with the sentiment, but Laurels probably aren’t the way to do it.

There are unfortunately a lot of things in game that have simply been implemented in the wrong way. For a lot of us 10g is a massive amount, we shouldn’t have to be daunted by the fact that if we ever want a precursor or a legendary or agony resistance we’re going to have to wait until we have upwards of 100g.. It’s simply not cool.

That’s a different situation. I was referring to their spread of settlement that occured before 100 BE, not the Charr Invasion of 1070-1 AE.

And they might have gone through the Crystal Desert to Orr – there’s only 2 passes into the Shiverpeak Mountains – one’s at Ascalon Foothills (GW1)/Diessa Plateau (GW2), and the other is up north at Grothmar Wardowns (GW1). There’s no easily climbable pass into the Shiverpeaks further south than that – and the northern one is the one used to get to Kryta.

All good. Thought you might have been referring only to what was specifically mentioned.

I didn’t play the GW1 bonus mission pack, but I thought the Charr did cross the Shiverpeaks, otherwise this (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Rise_of_the_White_Mantle) didn’t happen? Obviously they didn’t cross the Shiverpeaks into Ascalon as the OP implies (either by error in sentence structure or not), but to pose the threat that they did to both Kryta and Orr would they not have had to cross the shiverpeaks. They certainly didn’t go down through the Crystal Desert.

I personally don’t find this a problem.
I put together PuG’s to run dungeons and not once have I ever kicked someone for not being a certain class. Recently I’ve had players with no previous dungeon experience tag along and even then I’ve had no problems.

I’ve been in groups of all sorts of configurations. I once ran AC with 4 Ele’s and a Guardian and it was honestly one of the smoothest and quickest runs that I’ve ever had.

The need for specific classes/gameplay types is an illusion created by all those people who are so used to it they can’t even fathom playing without it. It honestly doesn’t matter if you want to run a dungeon with a balance group or 5 Glass Ele’s. As long as everyone has some idea what they’re doing and you can work as a team there shouldn’t be a whole lot of dying.

If people stopped blaming their group configurations for dungeon failures and just learnt to have fun playing and co-operating with others we would have a whole lot less complaining going on (in my opinion).

Personally wasn’t a huge fan of UW,FoW,DoA simply because I found them kind of stale and un-engaging. Not to mention the time they took, especially if you hadn’t done them before, was just insane. I think FoTM is as close as you’re going to get.

I would actually be in support of them adding longer dungeons in a similar style to Urgoz’s and The Deep. I thought those two were done really well and delivered a decent amount of challenge with a better progression style than UW/FoW

That being said I don’t think it will happen. GW2 dungeons can already take a fair bit of time and Anets intention is to provide content that everyone can enjoy, which includes more casual players.

You could always try Flame Temple Tombs if you haven’t already done it?
It’s nowhere near the scale of UW and it really doesn’t take all that long but it has a different feel to the duneons.

I’d imagine the only way this would happen is if GW1 were ever shut down. Currently it’s a nice way of rewarded longtime fans, and even potentially getting new GW2 players to try out GW1 who otherwise wouldn’t have.

Even if/when they shut GW1 down they won’t open up the HoM rewards. They were designed to give players who had ALREADY played GW1 rewards. They only allowed new GW1 players to earn them because they knew they would get sales from it.

It’s no different to GW1 offering special limited edition weapons on occasion.
In GW1 players who purchased the pre-release bonus pack of Eye of The North got the Hourglass Staff (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hourglass_Staff). There is no other way to get the skin and they never implemented it since it was designed to be something for people who purchased that specific version of EoTN. So the HoM rewards will always be for people who actually earned them.

It would still be neat to see something like a melee focused medium armor class that uses elements as an attack. Think Enhancement shaman from wow, but way better. Weapons are imbued with elements to cause the specific element’s condition. Imbued with fire, causes burning; air, a stun; earth, a bleed; water, returns health to the character and slows the enemy. I mean you really could do something interesting with a medium armor melee elemental type class.

What you’ve described is the elementalist (albeit with medium armour instead of light).
Right there in that name is the reason you are never going to see another elemental profession in GW2. Shock horror, Fire attunement on elementalists cause burning. Air has stuns. Earth has bleeds and cripples. Water has regeneration and chill. You can do all that as a Staff ele or as a Dagger ele, which is meelee.

No they wouldn’t do that.
The HoM skins are a littttle bit of a measly reward in the first place. They’re hardly going to take the exclusiveness away from a whole lot of people who worked very hard and spent a lot of time playing GW1. I played GW1 since launch, since in GW2 the titles and exclusive skins I earned are the only indication of this I would be pretty peeved if that was taken away from me.

I only had 30 points. I can imagine that anyone who had put in even more time/money than me to get up to 50 points would be rather enraged if Anet ever did this. It simply isn’t going to happen, they’re there to be exclusives for specific people and that’s how they will remain.

Especially with all the Destroyer stuff going on in Kryta.

What do you mean? I don’t see any difference between the destroyers attacking Kryta or Maguuma or even the Shiverpeaks, there is about 1 renown heart area they are involved in in each of those, save for an event or two (most of what I’ve seen is in a dredge cave, pretty sure it’s Shiverpeaks) so it’s safe to say that they are equally spread on those 3 areas.

As for the Central Transfer Chamber/Depths of Tyria thing happening again… maybe you are right, this just makes more sense to me atmosphere-wise, even though it may be incorrect lore-wise. Dragons have been seen to move large distances, so it’s not totally ruled out, but then again, some appear to be very inert… don’t take anything i say for granted though xD

I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m just saying that I think it would be odd. That is a large distance to move underground without causing any really really bad earthquakes xD.
Also, there is a portal to the Foundry of Failed creations on the Ring of Fire Island chain (The Door of Komalie) which exists inside the mists in the Realm of Torment, which is not the Redeemed Realm where Kormir resides. We know that the dragons can’t enter the mists and it would seem really weird to me if Primordius decided to hang out on the doorstep of one of the gods. Of course all of this is subject to interpretation and opinion and this is just mine xD.

From what I’ve seen in GW2 new expansions (and don’t quote me on this, it’s totally my assumption xD) expansions are most likely to be dragon-based. We have dealt with one dragon, there are more still at large. And from what I’ve seen in game, Jormag, after Zhaitan is the most detailed and i can only see him being the next in line. As for Cantha and Elona, well Kralkatorrik resides in the Crystal Desert, pretty close to the border with Elona, so some of the lore from there will surely be put in during that conflict (I would love nothing more than to visit Vabbi once again xD ), and for Cantha the Deep Sea Dragon to me doesn’t have any other obvious location to be put in (Primordrus has a fiery theme so i can assume it to be on the Ring of Fire).

But then again, this may all be just my hopes of seeing the Jade Sea, or the Petrified Forest again…

Oh and I totally don’t know how this is doable but MARGONITES. PRETTY PLEASE

Primordius was under the Central Transfer Chamber in GW1 which is in the Shiverpeaks… He has tunnels going all through the depths of Tyria but I’m unsure if he is small/mobile enough to travel through them.
While it’s possible he might be on the Ring of Fire Island chain I definitely wouldn’t say it’s certain or anything. Especially with all the Destroyer stuff going on in Kryta.

I recall reading that they didn’t want to implement an extensive LFG tool because they believe it would remove any communication between players as they would simply party up and run the dungeon without speaking or forming strategies.
Seems really silly to me since that would be no less social than having to stand in LA going “LFG AC Exp P1,2” and having people join your group.

Besides, the design of the dungeons encourages talking and collaboration. So personally I think it would be a great idea. But unfortunately I don’t think they’ll implement one any time soon.

I definitely agree with everything you’ve pointed out. It’s all very valid.
However, you highlighted something very pertinent. The Nightmare Court still see the dragons as a threat and want to destroy them.

My point still stands that Anet wouldn’t want to associate the Nightmare Court with a dragon because it would undermine everything they’re supposed to stand for.

That being said I suppose it is actually viable that Faolain could be some sort of minion, but I think that would still exist independent of the rest of the Nightmare Court. You pointed out that she’s a mesmer so yes, perhaps the Nightmare Court are like puppets on her strings? But even then that might be a bit of a stretch.

There is a meta event in Caledon Forest ‘The Battle for Wychmire Swamp’ which hints at a darker force at work, something outside of the Nightmare Court (which is also hinted at with Zone Green at the Infinity Reactor Coil which people now theorize is pointing to the 6th Elder Dragon with plant based powers).

Summon Greater Earth Elemental. Cast Staff skill 2 under Earth Elemental on occasion. You now have a very effective tank that can keep your enemies away from you while you keep his health up and do AoE damage to enemies.

If you want some synergy summon an Earth or Fire elemental to do some extra damage/tanking along side the Greater Elemental.

While I do think that the summons could have been better thought out, I think changes to the skills and AI themselves would be better than additional traits. These are skills with large cooldowns (and rightfully so) that only last one minute. Dedicating traits to them would be a waste when there would be better traits that could be included instead. (just my opinion though).

I love my Earth Elemental as he is, he keeps me safe in a lot of tough situations.

Firstly. Wrong section of the forums.
This is the Lore section and as such your post, which clearly relates to account/gameplay related issues belongs in the general discussion subsection of the forums.

Secondly. Arenanet have already posted multiple comments saying that yes, there are some issues with their bot detection systems and that there are a few too many false positives being generated. However there are also a fair few circumstances of players having been hacked and used for botting without their knowledge I would imagine.

Since this is an issue with your friends accounts I would suggest that THEY lodge a ticket with support in order to get their accounts restored as soon as possible. (They won’t be “compensated”, there aren’t systems in place that can achieve that and they aren’t entitled to Laurels).

As for what you can do to keep yourself safe? Exercise reasonable judgement, if you are walking around continually doing the same thing take a break and do something else. Keep in mind that there are diminishing returns in place so you can’t even farm Karka for that long before you stop getting vials and shells. IF and I truly mean IF, your account is banned on suspicion of botting then you have nothing to worry about, simply lodge a ticket with support and they will be able to reinstate your account because on human inspection it will show as a false positive. Something that their automated systems don’t seem to be able to deal with as their parameters are too broad.

Faolain (spoilers)

in Sylvari

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

I don’t think they would do this.

The entire point of the Nightmare Court is that they feel in a way betrayed by the Pale Tree’s devotion to Ventari’s Tablet and in their eyes it is as if their entire species has had the wool pulled over it’s eyes by some outside hand that had no right to do so.

Yes the Nightmare Court do some pretty nasty stuff, but they do it because they hope that one day Sylvari might break free and be their own natural selves. Their means of doing this are deplorable, but it’s the only way they see themselves possibly getting through to the rest of the Sylvari.

To have them in any way associated with Dragons, especially Faolain, would just completely destroy everything they stand for. They’re meant to be a balance to the purity and innocence of most Sylvari. Much in the same way that the Soundless are a balance for the connectedness of the Dream.

So yeah, also just my idea, but I don’t think Anet would want to devalue everything the Nightmare Court stands for by doing this. Yes they seem evil to us, but who are we to say that they’re wrong? Maybe Ventari was wrong for imposing life lessons on a race that altogether had nothing to do with him (even if he did so unintentionally). That’s the point of the Nightmare Court, they’re there to make you think and to offer more depth to the Sylvari as a race. Without them and the legitimacy of their cause you would just have a race of innocent child-like tree-ish people who unquestioningly follow these teachings laid out to them by someone they have never met.

All you have to do is WP back to your corner/keep and then travel through the Asura Gate.

That being said I would actually prefer it if we could just travel straight back to where we came from. Map loading times aren’t that short for a lot of us and it’s a massive annoyance to have to wait a minute or two to load into LA and then wait another minute or two as we load back into the map we were originally in before we wen’t into WvW (same goes for PvP)

Unused Sylvari Hairstyles

At 1:28 in this video we’re shown a male Sylvari with a large flowing hairstyle. When I first saw this video back when the redesign was announced I fell in love with it and going back and seeing it again I’m actually really sad that it isn’t in game

The exact same hairstyle is also seen in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bpcsxIYTXw&list=UUP_FgMqOxp_VsM0UfrL-DxA&index=44
Coincidentally also at 1:28 on one of the Sylvari’s running across screen (he’s to the Right hand side of the screen) This sort of suggests to me that it wasn’t until very close to release that it was removed?

The Sylvari are my favourite race hands down and I think the customisation that is already in place is great. That being said I think the re-implementation of this hairstyle for male Sylvari would offer a greater range of hairstyles.

So yeah. Just though I’d suggest that it be put back in game!

Bored of Hairstyles.

At 1:28 there is a male Sylvari with an awesome hair style. For some bizarre reason this never made it in game
I have a feeling they do have more hairstyles, they just haven’t implemented all of them because they’re either saving them for a later date or they decided to limit Character Customisation.

Rare’s are Yellow
They were indeed gold in GW1, but the colour used in GW2 is yellow

That isn’t telepathy. Telepathy is the transmission without use of any kind of channel. Magic is a channel. She is using Mesmer magic to speak inside his head/transmit thought or whatever it is precisely that she is doing. But since she is using magic to do so rather than having the ability to simply do it unassisted. It is not telepathy.

You’re not quite right there.

te·lep·a·thy
[tuh-lep-uh-thee] Show IPA
noun
communication between minds by some means other than sensory perception.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/telepathy?s=t

Magical mind reading would count as telepathy, since its not sensory perception.

And then look below that at the scientific definition: “the communication between people of thoughts, feelings, desires, etc, involving mechanisms that cannot be understood in terms of known scientific laws”

Magic in the GW2 universe is scientific. The Asura know this. Mesmeric magic can be understood. Therefore it is not telepathy..

Daily Dodge Req is Mandating Poor Play

I agree that this needs to go.
I’m a Staff ele and a whole lot of my skills are about enemy management and keeping my foes AWAY from me. I generally don’t need to dodge and I don’t appreciate being forced to find an enemy that I can close range dodge like an Ettin JUST for the achievement. Daily Achievements should be something that are earned through simply day to day playing, not something you should be going out of your way to achieve because it doesn’t align at all with your class.

Weapon Swapping vs. Switching Attunements

in Elementalist

FlamingFoxx.1305

It’s actually not an issue I don’t think.
As a Staff ele when an enemy gets too close you have a lot of ways to counter and get yourself back to a distance (even against multiple foes). You’re meant to be constantly moving anyway xD.

Air skill 3 blasts enemies back, skill 5 will stop them for a second.
Skill 4 on Water chills them so they can’t run at you.
Skill 5 on Earth immobilizes foes and then skill 4 cripples them.

I don’t think a weapon swap for ele’s would work, even on a long cool down. You’re giving them access to far too many attacks at once. People could just wait until the opportune moment to switch and effectively hit an enemy with 40 skills. Would break balance in PvP.

Also don’t forget we have the Conjure weapons which are really there to mitigate this issue. We have a Hammer, Shield, Bow and Greatsword. Two of which are close range and two of which are distance (technically the Greatsword can be close range as well, but it works best from a distance).

So if you’re a dagger ele you can take the GS or Ice Bow along. Or the opposite. Although I’m a staff ele and I quite often take the Ice Bow along anyway.

@Gregorius yes they do have an advanced scientific understanding of the universe. I was playing as an asura a couple of months ago(i decided to pause on him for a while and work on my human character) and on a heart mission where you have to talk to skritt you ask one “whats that in front of you” “whats what?” “that is an air molecule” and the skritt faints.

Keep in mind that in this exact same heart, your character tricks a skritt into thinking that he can read minds, then says “Hah, telepathy isn’t real. You fail.

Whereas we know that telepathy is real – Jennah speaks mind-to-mind with Logan on more than one occasion in the books. So while the Asura may understand some things, they also have a tendency to assume they know everything and forget that they can be wrong.

The fate of Maguuma's dinosaurs

Nightfall dino’s? Huh?

Closest thing I can think of, when it comes to dino’s anywhere near Nightfall would be Hydra’s in the Crystal Desert…

I do agree though, they probably moved out further west and/or north

Technically they’re considered Beasts by the game.
But I mean seriously, how can you not look at a Rinkhal Monitor, Rampaging Ntouka, any of the 3 types of Cobalts or the Behemonths (both Gravebane and Scytheclaw) and not scream DINOSAUR!

Also, the behemoths that were once found in the Maguuma are also suspiciously absent, as is a vast array of other Maguuma wildlife. -sigh-

Necromancers and Zhaitan

As everyone has already said. The mind and soul aren’t left untouched with Zhaitans corruption. That’s why you hear them occasionally yell things like “Save me”.
Necromancers simply raise the flesh and bone, they’re about as evil as taxidermists (but equally as creepy).

To the Maguuma Wastes!
No seriously though. Nightfall had plenty of Dino’s running around in the desert, so I think perhaps Tyria’s Dino’s may have moved to the Magguma Wastes after their territory was invaded by a gigantic tree and tiny scary things with an affinity for experimentation.

It’s a pitty that some people (I wont use names /cough) always asume that we will fight Joko, instead of being his ally again. That guy is sure as hell opportunistic enough to make a pact with the Pact.
I for one, welcome our new insect undead overlords.

How about because he has enslaved the entire continent of Elona. I don’t see anybody in the human kingdom taking very kindly to that… >.>

Also I think unfortunately I have to agree with Konig. I don’t see Cantha being all that soon.
Anet are more likely to try and open up our existing map more, moving up north to take down Jormag, thus revealing the Far Shiverpeaks again, and then down south to the Cyrstal Desert for Kralk. Which would suggest that passage down to Elona would be more probable than passage across the sea to Cantha. Quite sad really considering I really love Cantha

GW1 to GW2 Currency

in Lore

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

There was a recent thread about this. There, I explained that in GW1, copper and silver coins existed.

Similarly, GW2 does still have platinum coins for money.

We, as players, just have no access to it.

So while something may happen as Ratphink speculates, the changes would be minor. This is primarily a mechanical change between the games.

The only real question is… why does 1,000 gold in GW2 (it’s possible to have 5 or 6 digits worth of gold in the bank currently) not turn into 1 platinum?

What a ridiculous question.
All the Platinum in Tyria is presently locked in Xunlai chests, therefore there is nothing to convert gold into.

Fractal leveling

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: FlamingFoxx.1305

FlamingFoxx.1305

Can someone clarify something for me?
I’m unsure whether or not Fractals bugged for me or I just didn’t understand the new mechanics/they weren’t adequately explained.

A few days ago I completed a Fractal with a group of guild members. My fractal level was 7 but they entered at level 5. So it said “Fractal Level 5. Reward Level 7” for me. Which makes sense given the new mechanics.

However, once we had finished all three Fractals and returned to Dessa’s lab my level remained at 7. I can confirm that when I left and walked back to the FoTM Asura gate my level was also still 7 there.

I opened all the chests and was returned to the lab, the fractal was most definitely fully completed. So I’m just wondering if completing a fractal at a level below yours doesn’t level you up?
All good if this is the case, I suspected it might be. But after thoroughly reading the patch notes I can’t find it actually specifying this.
