My biggest issue currently, in WvW everything and anything (even an elementalist..) will outrun me 8/10 times before I get a chance to do much more. sPvP is less of an issue since if i make them run I win the point, but it is not fun watch the kills walk away.

You can use your finishers in WvW.

I’ve used mine in WvW, and I’ve also been stomped by the explosive finisher in WvW.

you can? I was under the impression that only the finishers available in the store or those with limited charge could be used.

And yes, I have finished people off with the explosive one, yet (i guess Im bugged) I cant show off my amazing and hard-earned rabbit finisher on people in WvW…weird…

Also, why am I not allowed to use my PvP finishers on WvW?

i think it would be a good incentive if sPvP experienced people were to join a WvW and dominate someone, only to finish them off with a giant phoenix and show them that you truly deserved that win….

I guarantee you a LOT more people would start hooping into SPvP just for that!

And this is coming from someone who has already bought SAb finisher and thinking on buying the twisting vine, so it isnt because I want to have a cool WvW finisher nor that I ever get a chance to show it off playing staff ele….

Most fun; Guardian and Ele

Ele is incredibly frustrating sometimes, but overall feels fluid, flashy and has this thing that i just can get away from.

Guardian? I spend more time staring at how awesome I look than anything else. I love the weapon skills for the most parts. Blue color. BLUE BUBBLES!! Blue flames; I love fire, I love blue, I LOVE blue flames. Torch #4 is incredibly fun to use for roleplaying. Love the F1 burning animation where it goes from blue flames to yellow flames. Love bursting stuff with GS. GS feels very fluid. Hammer feels powerful and good looking. Bring a lot of support like boons, wall of reflection, more boons, ability to keep everyone alive. Overall feels powerful and interesting, most people play it as a snooze-fest #1 spammer, but I switch all my weapons around every now and then and no matter the situation or the traits or the weapons, it feels powerful

Boring? Warriors. My goodness, so dull, VERY effective but DULL. No flashy animations, too much hack-n-slash, I love hack and slash and getting into peoples faces but warriors manage to make it dull and meh other than damage. Thief is probably my second most hated. Not particularly fond of its lack of AoE and I feel very cheap when I play it in any PvP environment since we all know how OP strong they are.

Mesmer is ind of a class I dont know where to put. Fun in PvP and have cool skills, like some of its play style. But cant get it to fully level it up. Lvl 48 and stuck there. So slow, damage build up is slow without gear, did I mention they are SLOW?!?! . Cant get over the fact that i feel like a slug with them. Not particularly fond of having to have focus off hand all the time. An utility is ok, having only 1 weapon of choice it is not.

Its umm… September 24th and the last buff was the 9th of July hence months. The July 23rd update did change things but nothing used in the current meta.

And in that same month Necros were buffed as well but I don’t hear anyone mentioning how they are favoured by the devs.

seriously, do you people really want to take it down that path?! Ok, sure, after months of getting buffed, but do you really want me to keep pulling the nerf/buffs side by side for both warrior and ele? Because warriors have been consisntely getting buffed in almost every balance patch whereas eles have gotten minimal buffs and really strong nerfs. Do you really want me to show you the crude truth or will another excuse come which i once again have to disprove…?

Like I said, lets leave it at that, whether warriors are or not the golden child of Anet is not the point of this thread. Please dont make me start reporting posts for deviating the topic….

Warrior:
Tremor: Increased the projectile velocity by 33%.
Axe Chain: Moved the damage more toward the end of the chain without reducing overall DPS.
Chop: Reduced the damage by 9%.
Double Chop: Reduced the damage by 12%.
Triple Chop: Reduced the damage of the first two hits by 20%. Increased the damage on the final hit by 75%.
Final Thrust: This skill has been moved to slot #3. Now it does more damage and extra damage versus foes whose health is below 50%.
Hamstring: This skill has been moved to the end of the skill chain. Reduced the cripple duration to 1 second.
Savage Leap: This skill now applies 3 seconds of cripple.
Leg Specialist: This trait now has an internal cooldown of 5 seconds.
Skull Crack: Increased the stun duration from 1, 1.5, 2 to 1, 2, 3. Increased the damage by 50%.
Endure Pain: Reduced the recharge from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.
Stomp: This ability now breaks stuns. Added 1 second of stability. Reduced the cooldown to 45 seconds.
Dolyak Signet: This is now an instant stun breaker.
Throw Bolas: Reduced the aftercast by .3 seconds.
Kick: Doubled the damage.
Berserker’s Stance: Increased the recharge to 60 seconds. Reduced the duration to 4 seconds. This stance now reduces incoming condition duration by 100%, so only modified conditions can get through.
Balanced Stance: This now also applies swiftness.
Dual Strike: Reduced the aftercast from .5 seconds to .25 seconds.
Whirling Axe: Reduced the aftercast by .2 seconds.
Rush: Reduced the aftercast by .2 seconds. The transition between the run and swing portion has been smoothed out for hitting moving targets.
Hammer Shock: Reduced the aftercast by .4 seconds.
Staggering Blow: Reduced the aftercast by .25 seconds.
Backbreaker: Reduced the aftercast by .25 seconds.
Crushing Blow: Reduced the aftercast by .2 seconds.
Brutal Shot: Reduced the aftercast by .3 seconds.

Dash: This skill no longer knocks back the player’s target. Reduced the recharge to 6 seconds. Increased the damage by 100%. Cleaned up the animation so that it will hit the target more quickly when used at close range.
Throw Boulder: This skill now causes a 2-second stun. Increased the damage by 65%. Increased the projectile velocity by 50%.
Seismic Leap: This skill has replaced Stomp. It is now a ground-targeted, 2-second AoE knockdown with a 600-unit range.
Bull’s Charge: Cleaned up the animation so it will hit the target more quickly when used at close range.
Staggering Blow: Fixed an issue that caused players to stop in place after using this skill.
Signet of Might: The activated unblockable buff now lasts for 5 strikes.
Impale: This skill now applies torment instead of bleeding. Two stacks of torment are now applied upon the sword’s impact.
Mending: Reduced the recharge to 20 seconds. Decreased the base heal by 6%. Scaling with healing power has been decreased by 20%. This skill now removes 3 conditions.
Healing Signet (Passive): Reworked the formula that this passive heal uses. At level 80, this skill goes from 392 healing per 3 seconds to 467 healing per 3 seconds with 1500 healing power.
Healing Surge (Stage 0 Heal): Increased the base heal by 12%. Scaling with healing power has been decreased by 10%.
Healing Surge (Stage 1 Heal): Increased the base heal by 11%.
Healing Surge (Stage 2 Heal): Increased the base heal by 19%. Scaling with healing power has been increased by 25%.
Healing Surge (Stage 3 Heal): Increased the base heal by 16.5%. Scaling with healing power has been increased by 50%.
Rush: Cleaned up the animation so that this skill will have a smoother transition when approaching the target.
Heightened Focus: This trait now applies the appropriate crit chance per adrenaline level.

They were referring to the majority of PvE elementalists. Come on.. get your facts right.

actually no, you get your facts right. They were talking about necros, guardian and eles in the PvP enviroment and how the rotations for necros had been made easier and the “pro” player wasnt happy about it, because he knew necros were that strong but only a few could pull it off, they mentioned the way eles worked and they said that “actually no, most eles dont attune out of fire/lighting” as in saying all eles dont know how to bring the max potential of the class

Mean PS: With that being said, I would appreciate if perhaps you would drop warriors from top priority and gave other classes (namely elementalists) a chance to flourish, it certainly feels that said class is getting all the goodies and attention, having a unending amount of viable builds, weapons, roles and places in team while others barely see any action other than players trying to make it work somehow [in vain]

You need to drop this train of thought that they’re favoring a class.

I really REALLY dont want to deviate the thread to this, but warriors have been in a very strong spot in PvE, PvP and WvW, now tPvP, but to believe in solo queue warriors were bad is a lie. Warriors are probably the only class that have remained relatively above others for the most part. Cant say the same for the rest of the other classes….

No sarcasm, I actually want to apology to any balancing dev which I migh have come out as “rude”. I understand you are people adn as people you have good and bads,you have lives and other responsibilities. Just wanted to point out that I have been aware of this but I have reviewed some of my previous posts after calming down and have realized that while unintentionally, I have come out as “edgy”

This thread may serve no other purpose than this, but I do want to let you know, that the reason why Im so “passionate” about this is because I care. Normally Im a really chill person, but it is because I want this game to succeed (I have take this game to the heart, really) I understand that there are certain big limitations.

First, it goes beyond me why Anet hasnt put more resources into balancing. 2 poor guys have managed to keep this game barely above the tide, all that while being in constant raid from angry players. Im sure the game could possibly be in a much much much worst state but thanks to your hard work, most of the “imbalances” arent completely game-breaking and most can be worked around. So good job overall!

Devs wont respond because probably they don’t agree with you. Jonathan has said that Elem is OK, it’s just the meta that counter them (many players agree with him).

When nerf bat has come to bunker elem Devs said Elem arent suposed to be better at roles than other professions (aka bunker guardian). To them ELem is a versatile profession that can do a little of everything but not excel at everything (or anything?). The next months many professions were buffed and then Elem has become this. To me just 1 profession to 1 role doesnt make much sense.

But lets be honest, since day 1 elementalist players were complaning about the profession, even when daphoenix posted his über build. Many players think of elementalist as the Mage Wizard Nuke RPG type, but in GW2 theres nothing like this, maybe just something from mesmer and 1 skill from fire staff.

Anyway, i agree with the lack of choice ragarding traits, the problem with minimun health in favor of healing that’s always being nerfed and the atrocious cooldowns of elem utilities.

Yah, I was quite sad when I heard those dreadful words;

“yeah we think eles are ok…” No, we are not.

For some reason the numbers didnt show up , but I have 500+ games only on ele (59% of all matches), rest is mesmer and guardian. Mesmer is probably my most effective and guard I straight up suck at it, but I can guarantee I will give him a fight even with my guard. And if that wasnt enough I will even dare to challenge him with a warrior (class I have at lvl 2 and about 2 games on PvP) with a pick up build on google and I still wage I will be able to beat or take to draw.

I am not trolling ele threads…… The class is far better then how most people make it out to be and judging from the past aka necros underpowered buff them. The samething will happen to eles. If you want to fight him sure. Hes a really nice guy and a great player we would love to help.

Please drop the condescending tone. I have agreed to the duel, after that we will decide the outcome. It is really bothersome having some random stranger who knows nothing about your “abilities” to keep saying “everyone is wrong, you all just suck, we know better, we are a special cast”

1. S/d
2. 0/30/0/10/30
3. Learn the burst combos
4. Practice the burst combos a lot
5. understand the class
6. Play safe
7. Stay back doing ranged harass until their is a proper opening
8. Go in using a massive burst combo and leave.
9. Ride the lightning and Lightning flash are better positioning and defensive spells then offense spells
10. Know your classes limit
11. Stay out of cleave
12 When you see a downed player that is the perfect opportunity to burst because their will be tons of people trying to stomp/rez said person.

I already gave up on him, and this is coming from someonw who did Liadri over 120 times and beat her 2 times just for the mini and the satisfaction.

Nothing that it offers (reward wise) really entices me. It has a chance to drop a precursor, but we all know how loot works in this game…..even if someone were to get one, it is not guaranteed to be the one you need.

I dont mind the difficulty, I dont mind trying to herd the people (i have a commader tag and TS which we try to get people into) but I absolutely load to depend on others for results. I hated it on my college years, hate it on work; depending on people is like giving them a $1000 dollars in anonymity and expecting they will go around trying to find who is belongs to….

Anyways, after 8 tries, seen that the people who have done it have gotten crap for the most part, wings I wont use, I can say that it has become another event that I do not find the necessity to do. Yay great for hardcores, but I dont want to spend another hour waiting to get to the overflow my guild is on just to have to depend on 6 random people who have no idea on why the wall pop and want the turret cuz “ITZ COOLZ GUYZ”

I’ve never understood the whole “ele is hard to play” thing. Coming from SWtOR, 25 skills is pretty standard, and eles don’t even have access to every skill at any given time.
You just kinda go through your appropriate skill rotation, maybe mixing things up a bit to bait dodges in PvP, and you’re good to go.

I cant stress how true this is. I find playing ele is not as technically hard as people make it out to be, there is absolutely nothing complicated, I dare people play other game with more micromanagement without macros (which for the sake of discussion I wont mention) which were 2x-3x times harder than this “complicated class”.

It just take some critical thinking and game time spent on the class to realize that even when playing at best, they are still underwhelming for the most part.

I cant stress this enough, almost anything an ele does ion game can be outdone by a guardian or a warrior not only skill wise, but effectivity wise!

@at whoever said “block and dodge”, are you aware that the medium reaction time for a human is around .3-.4 seconds, and that backstab reapplication is almost instant? Sop making excuses……that is just not balanced.

The class is underpowered for the most part (except D/D and S/D) but the insta giving needs fixing

I still think it would make room for some interesting mecahnics and some positive feedback for people who want to support in the form of green numbers, because lets be honest here, the support in this game is quite lackluster; CC is denied by defiant, a full zerker usually brings as much support as a cleric or another “support” stat since scaling in all skills are just terrible and CC doesnt scale out of anything, as long as you use the skill it doesnt matter what you build, because in the end gear has little to nothing to say about support.

The prove that Anet knows this? Look at the 15 oct patch review; all about support since it is so scwrappy (sowy Anet, but it is , I have always played “supports” in all other games and had to give it up, specially staff ele….just terrible, incredibly terrible )

But seriously speaking, burst thieves haven’t really been a problem for ages. They still exist in WvW, but if you know what they’re doing you shouldn’t get hit by the burst unless really caught off guard. In sPvP both burst and stealth thives are an extremely rare breed at this point.

my goodness……now THAT IS op……14-q6k hp, eles/guards dont have more than 12k base, at that point HS is not a necessity since BS is already overkill…

I personally loved that in all games I have played as support. I dont want a dedicated healer specc or anything, but I would love to cast a healing rain and see big green numbers pop, or play a guard and see those sweet crits happen.

Of course we would have to change the mechanics of regeneration and heals, make it scale not out of prec/% crit but rather another [creative] way.

Would you like something like that? Thoughts?

Im starting to feel like while not on “purpose” (and by purpose I mean they do it without really been aware of it) we are getting ignored, specifically when the issue of survival mechanics. I really hate to call out things but, the “warrior discussion” got a reply from a red within 3 posts, the one before that was within the 2 page and I remember an older thread about warriors before that that got 3 replies in less than 2 days. Yet I see no talks whenever “elementalist” is mentioned. Is anyone else noticing the trend in which since warriors is the most played class (14% population), most red I have seen play warrior (Wide Charr, one of the Devs, the blond one, forgot his name, I even remember that in on SoTG he wasnt comfortable about how he couldnt go all in with his warrior) and many others. Just want to know if this i just perceived by the elementalist community of that warriors are more loved by even the devs?

Why do we keep getting ignored? Why havent anyone sat down and started asking question about what are the elementalist players asking? Why dont we have polls? I feel that there is no communication between devs and the ele community. Yes, Im aware this thread will get tossed into the dead ele forum where biased opinions which will “scare” away devs will come, but I would appreciate if instead I got a much broader PvP spectrum of the community (and hopefully some dev representation, please……).

@Ryld, dont try to argue with them, they got bursted ONCE by an ele and came here to QQ about it, when in reality that happens 1 out of 99999 times when you play that kind of ele.

D/D bunker ele wasnt any worse than zoo pet ranger or bunker engi or warrior or necros tankiness/damage currently. Only thing is; people forget about those stuff and only remember the experience, not how it actually was.

Just let them be, the day they actually dare to play ele they will realize in how much of a shi[tty situation they are…

Good elementalists that use s/d are extremely good right now.

good elementalists play warrior/guardian now, the rest are thief wanna be kamikazes that are a 1 trick pony that can be completely and totally avoided by 1 dodge or having 2 brain cells.

Ok, after some tea and Beethoven’s piano sonatas I have decided to start gathering ideas on how to fix Elementalists;

The problem;

  1. Survivability outside 60 points Water/Arcane and Cantrips.
  2. Damage reliability vs targets guided by humans.
  3. Traits
  4. Staff

Basically I believe that cantrips were intended to be a core mechanic of elementalists, where you would equip at least 2-3 of them in order to remain alive. This is ok when you go into water since they give incredible rewards for them. Regeneration, vigor, condition cleanse on regeneration, -20% CD on top of what they do. Arcane tree is probably the most-have tree in all elementalists traits. Not only do we have 15 seconds second swap (element swapping) but also many speccs need to have Blasting staff (VIII, 20 points in) or 30 arcane for spells on dodge. This is incredibly good for speccs that want to remain alive, as proved by D/D.

But what happens when you want to run a damage specc, specifically without water points or as little as possible into arcane?

The fire tree is still lacking, nothing there other than the extra power you get in the tree. It is incredibly lackluster. They really lack something to go for them other than power. If they were to remove the traits but still give us the power most wouldnt probably notice the difference. You put 30 points into it and only power increases.
A 25 point trait is 5% vs burning targets, a 20 point worth trait is aother 5% vs burning target. A total of 25 traits in order to get 10% vs burning target. guardians get 10% vs burning targets in Radiance II. They can have 100% burning upkeep. Staff ele has 5 seconds upkeep, 10 CD.

Air got something good; fresh air. Only works for scepters but good nonetheless. Staff attacks are too slow to benefice, most of the time unless you are full zerker you will reliably be able to switch back to air most often than the crit will proc it.

Without any way to increase our survival other than cantrips, we are pretty much pidgeon holed into playing with 2-3 cantrips, with minimal effects without water and with long recharge without arcane.

I can definitely see scepter’s burst been nerfed in the not so distant future, every now and then I see people complaining about it, it is only a matter of time before they nerf another build born out of necessity, necessity because the core hasnt been addressed yet. When will we find a balance between damage/survival that does not include D/D bunkers and kamikaze scepter (because thats what they are, 2 arcanes with maybe lighting flash, sneeze on them and they die, combo incredibly easy to avoid with ONE dodge and 2 brain cells). When will staff get some buffs to its damage? Not about the coefficient (which does need help) but rather how unreliable it is vs non-golems.

Perhaps the tea wore off, if so then sorry if it came out edgy, it is just that at 13 mon ths from release I expected a little more for staffs than; “increase the radius of water #1 so that now it isnt totally useless and ineffective, but totally useless, ineffective and the only buff you will ever get from us” and number increase on our gimmick mechanic conjures. Anet, where is my strong caster? Where is my strong mage? Where is master of the elements?

Solutions Redesign the class mecahnics, defense/offense, leave cantrips as an option, not a requirement, leave conjures as an option, not the only way to adquire viability. Make staff a strong offesive weapon if chosen to.

I cant speak much for other classes, but Im pretty sure the philosophy of eles got gutted somewhere in the pipes to release.

They were sold as an very versatile class which would switch elements at the right moment to get good results. That it would be a high risk/high reward class. Strong spell caster, I remember specifically reading in the website (prerelease) that “able to take down a foe before they would even get to them” (paraphrasing there).

What did we end up with? A class stuck in water/arcana (60 of total trait points) that has to be constantly switching elements in order to be able to keep up with all classes which can do the same with only 1 weapon swap, having to bear with 15 secs element (weapon) swap and been forced to take arcane 30 in order to attain a respectable recharge time, at least 20 arcane point to be able to wear a weapon (blasting staff). Stuck with cantrips as they sole and only way of defense, with buffs they cant share and have 75-90 secs CD (longer than the engi/warrior/mesmers/warrior/thiev/necro/ranger counter parts which can be shared for the most part and usually at half the CD)

A foe will get to you with more than 50-70% of their health after you spent all your spells, forced to cast AoE on yourself to be able to damage people and having to go, once again, deep into water/arcane in order to survive, which, ironically, guts your damage as a whole.

Overall the class philosophy is null and got completely gutted before it even had a chance to develop. Sadly all devs do is increase numbers here and there but refuse to address the core issues with the class; dependency of water/arcane cantrips in oder to have the survavility other classes have innately built within their own mecahnics.

But it is ok, we are getting the gimmick conjures damage increased, that will fix ALL our problems…………

Like I said, people are still disturbed about “bunker” ele, they do not care to reason, all they know is it was annoying and hard to kill, and thus they developed a hate for our class that will not be fixed until said person decides to play the class for themselves and realize how much in a bad spot it is.

Funny thing is, I know im not immune to this, I wish the same for thieves, I wish they get deleted and never see one because I ABSOLUTELY hate how stealth mechanic works in this game and how uncounterable backstab is. I dont care if the thief plays something else, all I know is I hate them and want them gone. The only difference is I admit it and try to think as I was in the thief’s shoes.

I wish thieves get more utility and buffs on things they need but they nerf the annoying stuff about them. You people cant do the same, thats your flaw, some of you are so proud that would never admit there is something wrong with you, I guarantee that NOBODY (that isnt “trolling”) will admit it has ever happened to them.

Point is; grow out of it, bunker ele (which was definitely nothing compared to zoo pet rangers or bunker engi) is over, done, nerfed to the ground, many people played it ut of necessty, not because they enjoyed it. The core issues with eles havent been fixed;

survival:damage ratio is not justified. It isnt about skills, it isnt about speccs, it isnt about players. It is about how poorly designed the class was in that aspect, they wantyed attunements to be something you use at the right time, not something you go whenever available to be able to do something. The result?

A class that cant control whats going, who has to sacrifice survavility and attunements in order to achieve damage and has to resort to cantrips for defense, which are directly tied to water, and attunement recharge which is tied to arcane traits.

When we normalize attunement rate and make other spells that are NOT cantrips (only spell outside cantrip that can be used defensively is arcane shield on a whooping CD of 75 seconds) and can have some use for the team (none of the utilities in eles can be used for the team, even cantrips are selfsish and have 2-3 times the CD of spells guardians have which does the same, example stability…)

I believe the class was rushed and/or half way through the design the Devs realized it would be too hard to balance a class that could do so much so instead they left everything so underpowered so that anyone who could do the same, could do it better, aka no complains from everyone but eles. Basically something like this; do you prefer to have complains for 7 other classes or only 1? Math wins…

No, la verdad es que no hay casi necesidad de hablar el mismo lenguage. De echo, la mayoria de las veces simplemente un ping (Ctrl + boton derecho del raton) es todo lo que necesitas, y ni siquiera eso, simplemente con tener experiancia ya. otras cosas podrian ser sicronizaciones pero 3 2 1 funciona.

Pues nada, que no hay necesidad de comunicarse a no ser como un foro como este que si se necesita sobrepasar la barera del lenguage.

TL;DR: Most dungeons dont even need you to speak the same lenguage, I have had 4 chinese dude with me, ran all 3 CoE paths and 3 AC paths in a row, not a single word exchanged except 3 2 1 for CoE, it was beautiful.
