Basically, I have a zerker gear already lined up with everything but ascended weapons. I have done some small scale WvW but I tend to be kited easily and cant catch up people. That aside, I blow rather easily, so I want wondering if this build could work:

Do you think the tradeoff could work in a small fight? The power doesnt sem to be too far off from each other and you get some benefices from the added vit/tough/heal and cond damage.

Its easy to disregard that evidence and proof are not the same thing.
Eles not being represented in a tournament can serve as supporting evidence to a claim of them being underparts however it doesn’t prove it. I don’t disagree that the else is somewhat underwhelming relative to others but a MLG graph isn’t proof it doesn’t prove anything. Multiple players have class hangups on what they will and will not play.

You have been a broken record for more than a month without need given that Anet at their pace has addressed multiple times professions being underwhelming.

Incorrect, it hasnt been a month, I have been giving constructive criticism since 2 month since release, I played since day -2, but waited to test all classes and learning them before saying anything. Staff ele has been unviable since day 1, pure and simple.

You speak of unviable class, yet, all the classes have one fully viable specc; rangers have spirit ranger, thieves have Sw/D, warriors have just about all weapons, but worth mentioning stunlock warrior, necros have conditionmancer, minionmancer, bunkermancer, guardians have shining-armor-knight-save-them-all, engis have burst engi, condi engi, bunker engi, mesmers’ shatters are still one of the best duelist in the game. Eles used to have D/D, not anymore, now we have a half viable build; scepter/D or F, which has incredible burst, yes, but what else beyond that? nothing. Nothing at all. Hence why they are not high-ranking worthy.

Turn your face away from the truth. I dont care how tired you get from me and many others stating the obvious, but until we keep getting ignored, we are going to keep shouting. Warriors and necros made ruckus and got their things. We shouldnt we do the same, it worked for them.

People, you guys dont seem to be getting the question, let me repeat it;
Every class has an emblematic thing you would bring them over to your team;

Guardian; unmatched team utility and boons. Good sustained DPS.

Mesmer; best duelist in the game, incredible amount of team utility.

Warrior; Best damage in the game. Insane CC. Great aura utility on banners, including revival and might/fury buffs.

Necros; Condition damage, fear, DS, very durable, wells.

Engis; great point defense, team buffs in the form of boons, heals, more heals, very sturdy.

Rangers; spirit ranger can take on the world…and still survive. They bring best sustained DPS in the game and very useful traps in the right hands.

Thief; Unmatched dueling power. Most mobile class after warriors. Can insta burst anyone out of the blue. Very OP useful Sw/D in this meta.

Eles; Very telegraphed moves, damage dependent on AF]K players, 0 team utility since arcanes and cantrips are selfish. Boons are good, at expense of very lenghty cooldowns who leave them on even longer attunement CD, which cuts their only way or survival. Only “viable” build is a burst hit-or-miss who will die in a teamfight first thing.

Sure it isnt that bad, but like I said, while not completely useless, we are suboptimal. We dont outdo absolutely no one, and we cant be a jack of all trades because traits can only let us go one way. True jack of all trades is engi, shame about their appearance.

Eles have the best burst in the game

If you consider damage alone, yes, but what after you bursted that ONE person? You die. Like old zerker warrior. No, best burst in the game is currently held by shatter mesmer and D/D thief, who bring just as much damage and still survive it almost all.

Eles give the best swiftness in the game.

Once again, wrong, guardians and warrior do this, heck even ranger does it better. Guardians symbal has 1200 range, people can see it and walk over it to get the benefices, whereas for the ele, the le has to walk next to them to give it to them, 180 range, thats almost melee….. Warriors banners have greater range. Rangers also give fury and might I believe. Eles? short range, long CD, short duration. Im sorry but wrong.

They’re competitive for being amongst the most mobile.

WHAT?!?! By any chance are you implying an ele is more mobile than a warrior, or a thief, or a ranger? Like really? Do you even know what mobility is?!

No bro, just no. Nothing what you said cant be outdone by an ele. A warrior will have as much mobility, utility and survival while remaining top DPS in the game. Rangers the same, guardians to certain extend, thief with Sw/D….

You are wrong about the sustain damage though.
Ele burst didnt have sustain damage prior to fresh air.With that trait you dont have to auto attack with the crappy fire,earth and water skills at all.And the discharges plus the lightning strikes it make it decent enough considering its at 900 range. I know it makes a huge difference cause without fresh air i barely bypass a warriors passive regen but with the trait i can poke him to death.You shouldnt spend as little time in air btw.Its quite the opposite and theres a 5 sec cd afterall. You leave air and go back in when you dont need the other attunement any more.
Btw i understand what you are saying about viability.I asked you if you can prove that ele is indeed a bad choice assuming high level gameplay.
Bsgapollo responded saying that the gw2 "elite " tried,failed and so its decided that ele is unviable or else suboptimal for ALL the roles this games pvp can have.

Yes you can and hence this thread !! . But like I said, while you “delude” yourself that the sustain is good, as you said, we are poking, usually not enough to out do the 500 per second of a warrior’s healing signet, 5 seconds for a lighting bolt? thats 2500 healing from the healing signet, in those 5 seconds the warrior jumped on you two times, you had to burn 2 dodges, he then stunned you and gave you a nice 6k kiss, you healed nothing because you were using air autoattack which will not stop for skills but will stop for everything else like heals and such.

Want to know what good sutained damage? A ranger with its pet, he will be pewpew’ing you from affar, 800-1200 hits, crits go much higher, 1/2 second to 1 second, pet will be mowing away at you, spiritis will be healing the ranger and givinghim insane damage. NEcro’s pets the same, warrior has no pets, but no need for that when your opponent is perma CCed or dead, and even they can pewpew from afar.

Once again, you have to compare to others, eles bring nothing to the table that another class can completely outdo better, plain and simple. I dont want to poke people, I dont want to be more-miis/than-hit gameply. I want a fully viable, all rounded up class, versatile and strong, as sold at release. Right now we do not come not even close to that, and I think everyone who has played eles long enough will agree with me, specially the eles in MLG….oh wait..

Point is ..Can you prove that at the highest reachable by human gameplay of gw2 pvp that ele will be useless and a bad pick for teams?How?
Are there any teams left pushing metas? Has this game seen the dedications other games communities show to explore its possibilities?Im just not convinced that you ele is useless and in fact i think it could work based on what some of its builds can do atm.Just not at support and not runnign around with valks and 30 water sustaining yourself and covering up your myriads of mistakes cause it didnt matter anyway

Do not confuse useless with unviable. People tend to take the highroad to extremes. While ele are not completely useless, they are quite suboptimal. Please get t right, read this response several times, you will understand what we are saying.

For anything an ele can bring, another class can bring 2x or 3x that or better. As simple as that. Im not saying eles got nothing, just that they get outshined in everything as a whole. And yes, we have to compare because there are 7 other classes and we cant just simply analyze eles in a vacuum, specially since matches arent 5 eles vs 5 eles.

Hmm what ele can bring??Depends for the build.S/f fresh air for example can bring great sustain range damage,great instant burst,amazing downed damage (amazingly broken downed damage if you run with the greatsword elite),good roaming, great projectile reflections ,immunity for clutch rezzes or stomps and of course aoe prot and regen.

If you want to max damage pick 15 earth minor to add another instant damage spell

Im sorry but we dont have sustained damage, sustained dmage is something a ranger would bring, or a warrior, or a necro, but what we have is burst, you unload all and you hope they die, run around until CDs are up again. Scepters autoattacks are something laughable. Fire #1 is a small damage with a burn, air is respectable but usually oyu try to spend as little time in air as possible in oder to proc lighting bolt more often, water autoattack might as well heal the enemy, is used mostly because they are 3 indepent attacks which might proc fresh air, earth #1 is a condition applier, without condition damage it does no sustained damage, also used to proc fresh air.

As for the burst, yes, granted, best burst after D/D thief, who can literally one shoot people with ONE skill as opposed to 4-5 skills in the case of the ele, which can be easily dodge, whereas backstab cannot. And for those who still think D/D thief damage is bad, I recomend you to look up a guide, 11-12k backstab is a normal sight., ele base hp is 11k hp, if the backstab doesnt kill then the 5k HS will.

Yeah they can kill downed people, but what about them first making said enemy go down in a teamfight? Why pick a kamikaze who has more miss than hit, when you can pick a shatter mesmer or D/D thief of warrior in any build who will do almost as much damage and still come out alive most of the time.

Once again, while raw damage is not outshined, everything else is, I didnt sign up to b a kamikaze, a drag to the team. I would much rather have some sustained high dmaage with as much survivability as any other class. So yes, nerf arcanes if needed, even though they are my favorite. But buff what needs to be buffed.

Guardian solo build ????

I have been running a 10/25/25/5/5 build for solo and a 10/25/30/0/5 for dungeons, zerker gear. Good amount of damage multipliers, monsters usually die from one combo open world, can take several at the same time, except maybe some ranged ones. On dungeons is about utility and boon sharing while keeping about the same damage.

You cant just compare 2 skills, let alone just 2 aspects of it.

A warrior has infinitely better ways to sustain itself and survive in melee than an ele could ever hope too. They have higher hp and higher armor bases, healing signet which is by far the best mindless sustain in the game, hands down. A warrior will be able to stick to you like fire in a dry forest, whereas the ele is being constantly being poured water and cut possible paths.

D/D should be the stronger melee weapon given how little survival we have at melee range. But this isnt D/D problem’s only. We are probably the most unsafe profession out there, even at max range with staff. No disengages, no damage, no healing, long CD on the only respectable skills, whereas the equivalent in some other classes have 10-20 secs CD at max, we have 30-40, on top of 12-15 secs attunements.

I dont want to be gloomy guy but for every single thing we can do better than any profession, that same profession can do 2-3 things better than us.

I believe the ele’s biggest issue is that; they spent so much time trying to keep themselves alive, that they cant do anything else. Hence why you see them bringing 2-3 cantrips and given the team well, nothing.

Same for arcanes. An ele with 2-3 arcanes has nothing in its mind but to burst and try to get out. They cant hold a point nor team fights because they got no protective spell to keep them from dying from one gap closer.

In other words; survival. Eles are ok, their survival is not. You cant do much when you are dead.

I want to remain as unbiased as possible, so I will try my hardest to stay humble and civilized. This is about eles compared to every other class in PvP only

Given the latest development of the meta and the last MLG;

What can a ele bring to a table that other classes cant bring better and without that many sacrifices.

Perhaps you can answer me, given how there was zero eles in the last MLG I can tell they bring nothing, so I will expose my points and correct me if Im wrong, lets try to analize wht’s truly the ele’s problem, if he has any:

  1. >Might stacking sharing;

As far as Im concerned, staff guardian already performs this better than us. In order for us to stack might to a party, we need to blow 1 arcane on 30 seconds CD, part of our combo, need to go from earth to fire, which each as 12-15 secs CD, huge in a fight where now your defensive attunement is on CD. A guardian provides about the same if not more amount and a heal, one skill, 15 secs CD, less if traited. Engis does a better job too. Warrior with banners if they do decide to do so too.

  1. > Fury stacking;

I would say they are good with fire, but it goes down to the same issue with might stacking, long CDs, small radius, very conditional. Warrior has bigger radius and still uses the same banner. In this case warrior is still better while bring all the other things they bring already.

  1. > Swiftness;

Once again, attunement used up, possibly arcane into lighting staff #5, or staff #4 , which has a 30 CD, small radius. Once again, guardian with one weapon, staff, does the same job, on lower CD, with a symbol so that people know where to go, instead of the ele having to chase down an ally and stick to it so that they get the buff.

  1. > Healing.

I will admit they are good at this if traited for it, but in this game healing is not good enough, no amount of healing “120-300 healing” every second(unless self sustain in the case of healing signet for warriors and or the innate healing of guardians) will save you “1200-2500 damage” every second, plain and simple.

  1. > Condition cleansing;

Shout guardian (which sadly is getting nerfed) does a great job, not only removes, but converts. A mesmer traited for it also does an amazing job (you would be surprised about it in this meta!) which each shatter removing a condition, I have been saved several times.

  1. > Damage :

Here we could argue about LH and FGS, but I believe this are not acceptable in PvP, with a squishy build, and I believe gimmick mechanics should not become the main point of a class. I chose eles to play, well, an ele, not a warrior with low hp and armor. So while scepter has good potential, they only bring that, nothing to survive, nothing to the party, just that, damage. About every other class can bring tons of damage an still remain useful, this is not the case for scepter ele, D/D thief. We only have 2 damage conditions (bleed burn) so we cant fit in the meta.

DISCLAIMER Dont say “everything”, because this isnt the case. An ele traited in healing wont bring fury nor might stacking, an ele traited in damage wont bring healing nor condition cleansing. An ele with 2-3 cantrips bring NOTHING to the team, ALL cantrips are selfish, on long CD and their sole purpose is selfish survival of the ele. An ele with 2-3 arcanes bring nothing to the team either, all they do is damage. Please enlight me if I need to. Why should pros start bring eles to MLG when there is nothing that cna help them win.

PLease keep the “fun” argument out, I play eles for fun, but I want to also be a valuable asset, thats not too much to ask, right?

Many were also added to places like Orr and also where Guild Challenges were added (eg Snowden)

As far as Im concerned, only points of interest needed to be rediscovered, if you had 100% of a map then WP would be automatically unlocked, at least thats how it worked for me.

Im still trying to find that ONE point after the added patch……. had 100% map completitions and now 99% it bugs me to no end and I cant tell where is it at all since no online map has it….

My guess is probably in the char starting area. Mouse over that map, it is the jump puzzle WP that took me a while to find, I got that map back when it wasnt out, then as soon as I did my second 100% map I spent a good chunk of time looking it uip, no online map had it.

If that doesnt work, mouse over all maps and see which map is missing the waypoint, this map might help http://gw2cartographers.com/

edit: the wp in the charr starting area is to the top left of the map, right outside the city, you have to go through a small road with tall mountains on the sides, full of veterans, you will see it.

It is very easy to disregard solid proofs, but I want to remind you that warriors and necros got buffed for this very same reason; they had no representation in higher rank playing. Whether you choose to admit it or not, people participating at MLG are better than you and me, and know what they are doing most of the time. If absolutely none of them decided to bring an ele, that tells a whole world about their state. When the entire community admits it too I think we have something that is quite obvious; we are either being purposely neglected or Anet is too slow to act on time.

All ele pros abandoned the game or rerolled the class but Im still hoping [I know in vain] that maybe one day, on the next 2-3 years, eles might get to be decent. A man can only hope.

How long ago were Warriors moaning about how bad their class was and that ANet should just delete the class because it will never be good (insert more QQ moaning BS here)? Now where are they?

Eles had their time being completely broken, now they aren’t. Move along and quit QQing, either reroll or suck it up until you’re back in the limelight again.

This goes for you too, infantile forum goer. If you think a game balance should be about spotlights then you may abandon the forums. A respectable game wshould not have cycles of OP and UP classes, but rather try to strike a middle ground for most of them. There is no such thing as perfect balance, but while warriors did need their buffs, so does eles now. I see a heavy hatred for eles in your tone, Im sure they touched you in places and thus you dont want to see them ever again because of said memories.

But for the health of the game I think we can both agree you and all the ele “haters” have to let go of those childish arguments like; “QQ!” or “you had your spotlight, suck it up!”. The game will never achieve anything if you dont collaborate towards the greater good, believe it or not, you are actually contributing to its downfall.

Like I said, if a class is UP, buff it where it needs, if it is OP then nerf it where it needs it. No need for drama, trauma, hatred, spite. Just plain balance. I assure you people will start taking MLG and other esport competitions seriously.

Hmm, lets see, amount of eles in the last MLG….. was it 3, nah, 2, no way, maybe 1, no way, it couldnt have been, OH, 0, yep, zero.

Amount of viable builds; hmm, about 1/2, if you count gimmick scepter. But it is ok, we are gonna buff all classes, then to compensate we are buffing conjures weapons, because that will defintiely fix our core problem; survival outside water/arcane-totally-useless-since-all-you-do-is-trying-to-pull-your-weight-in-a-match-and-thus-become-a-drag-your-team.

If you have a better argument and proves to back it up, please enlight us all, but I hav e the MLG graph, personal record and much more, you have….yep, nothing.

WHile right now condi-fear-spam necro is really strong, clutter-screen-one-key-wins necros and rangers, S/D thieves and perma-stunlocked warrior are really strong, I find those 4 classes too boring for me, hence why I dont play them.

Despite the fact that ele are the worst class in the game I still stick with them out of pure masochistic love and the fact that I really like that class, I wouldnt play this game otherwise, guardians might come close second.

We’re already starting to move away from it, it’s just something that takes time. I know that’s not the response you’d like to hear, but if the devs made massive kneejerk changes every time something emerged strong, something else would be equally broken afterwards.

Speaking specifically about you, build what gives you the best chance to win fights. Yes, the traits that increase your damage are more “fun”, but you need to keep in mind that others are trying to kill you. It’s not your right to win fights in PvP.

What is in your control is what fights you engage. If your build is weak to conditions, don’t run in on a spirit ranger or condition necro 1v1. Key element of conquest is to force favorable fights, so kind of evaluate what you’re getting into before you run in.

Lastly? This one’s a bit harsh but let’s set it straight now. That someone has an easier-to-play build than you does not mean you’re more skilled than they are. Again, step back and evaluate, and come up with a better solution than broadly blaming the meta.

Im sorry, but stop assuming Im saying im godlike player with godlike skills. Im well aware of that, but I also believe this should apply to everyone. Nothings else screams “skilless” than throwing a couple of Ais and running around, I assure there is absolutely no skills whatsoever in that. There is no skills in clustering the screen. There is no skill in pressing a ranged spammable locked onto target skill that will do the same damage, bypassing any form of defense and stack regardless of your build, not even in a fully defensive build.

Want to know what takes skills? Play elementalist and try puling a kill with staff, or try to micromanage all CD on D/D (which are not visible out of attunement) and try to land the skills which guess what, are not locked ino target, so you need to be facing them, in distance and takes more than 3-4 keys. Try landing a dragon tooth. Try being a melee in a CC meta without a hammer. THAT is skill, knowing what to do, when to do and how to do it. Pressing 2 skills and running around waiting for conditions to tick and/or pets to do the job and cluster is NOT skill.

I know it is hard to get it through some people’s thick skull, but I would not watch any esport (sorry Anet, I <3 you and your game but right now your esport is just terrible) that consists on this. I want to see plays, combos, skills, saves, timely CC, altruistic actions, big numbers (healing and damage, not slow ticking-barely-visible-but very powerful skills)

I think the reason people dont realize how strong conditions are is because they see a bleed doing 98 damage and go like “meh, just 98 damage”, but then you look at 9898989899899898989898989898989 all over the screen, when you go to death recap, 18k bleed damage in 10 seconds, without counting enemy skills damage, your heals and 2 condition cleasing skills used…

If you read carefully (or if you bother to read) you will see I offered solutions; no I wont post it here again, go back and read the original post.

ANd yes, it is no secret warriors are OP, I hate them too, but thats for another topic. And yes, healing signet and perma CC needs to be toned down.

So does scepter burst ele, and this is coming form an ele main, Not because it is OP, but because it is preventing us from getting our core problem fixed ;survavility. As long as there are kamikaze eles out there, we will never get any real fix.

Im really tired of having t pack 2-3 condition cleansing just to stall the fight 10 more seconds, only to lose it anyways. Im tired of having to pack vitality and sacrifice trait points just for that just to have some fighting chance, and still lose most of the time.

Either give condition damage another 1 or 2 stats they have to sacrifice; example, condition damage still have its coefficient but it is affected by toughness, you would need another stat; armor penetration in order to start ignoring toughness. It makes it really unfair for classes with 11k hp pools to survive CONSTANTLY reapplying bleeds, burns, torment, poison.

That or make conditions proc retaliation. Fight fire with fire. Im tired that everytime I find a breathing room (Pure of Voice) that can give me some chance, BAM, nerfed, as if wanting to prolong the condition meta…
Im tired, REALLY tired, this game will never get any real attention if you keep having dumb AI and dumb comditions so strong doing most of the work, the player just have to run around and rip the benefices. That is only fun on the end of the enemy player, neither the players nor the audience enjoy those things.

Forgot to post the things I enjoy, though i did include some of it in my other post;

The PvP, it is fun, despite all the negative comments about only one mode, I dont feel this is the case for me, i enjoy it a lot since it gives room to fighting. The game is fluid love the hot join that can be done from across the map.

I find PvP enjoyable despite the obvious imbalances.

Things I would like to see improvement is how we get skins there, basically all the good skins I have came from the AP rewards.

I love skyhammer, bring more of those. I enjoy the kodan map, building where I can get to and snipe others. I enjoy the one with the orb, it has a nice open space in the bottom for fights and the map is nicely laid out.

I would love if you posted polls, if you also reached out to people in game. You would be surprised how many people dont even know we have a forum, let alone know whats going.

Things I would like to see;

> Clarity:
Explaining the reasoning behind certain changes.

>PvP balance affecting PvE ad WvW:

Reaching people in-game. Some people find out when they log that their RtL got nerfed in PvE and dont understand why is it not working. Clarity as to why PvE is so heavily affected by PvP. This is one of my biggest gripe. As a mostly PvE player it hurts me knowing that all balance in the game is dictated by PvP. End result? You have endless horde of angry players ignored on their class forums who come here to bash the devs.

Possible solutions; Splitting skills, mildly at least, or at least let the players know in advance about those changes so they can adjust themselves little by little rather than having to buy an entire new set right off the bat.

Lastly but most importantly; Class balance:

Please for the love of whatever you believe, redirect more resources to the balancing team. If you are going to have an entire game class balance that WILL afffect PvE, PvP and WvW all together, the least you could do is have more than two poor overworked devs working on it. Not to mention the unaware bias that might result from them being humans.

Look at the recent competitions, example; eles had ZERO representation in MLG, thats a big telling of whats going on, then you have rangers which made up around 3x%, more than some classes combined. Stealth is out of control and not everyone is a ranger, nor runs that build. Spike is out of control (Im looking at backstab and scepter ele, yes, even though I know Im a fierce ele defender I admit their damage is not ok, but their lack of survavility is also very NOT ok, no one wants a kamikaze in their team who gives nothing to the team but a handicap, hence MLG). Eles suvavility is non-existent. Warriors healing signet is out of control. Conditions spamming is out of control, not even a cleansing heavy class can keep up, merely stall it once all 40-75 secs CD are blown.

Overall I think this game has a lot of potential but you gotta start checking class’s forums, or at least let them know you were there (a simple lie might just do).

Good job on such an amazing game, personally i dont care about new modes nor new maps nor new rewards, I believe the PvP is intrinsically fun already, so no need to get overly rewarded by it (though, it would be very welcomed!). Only complain I have is just that; class balancing.

I will admit I have been getting more rares more often, and by often I mean; they finally actually drop.

But then again, maybe it has to do with the fact that I have been farming champions non-stop during the last week.

My fear though is that they will adjust [if they didnt do so already] the drop loot so that the net end result is the same.

Kindo of like damage; increase the stats but buff bosses’s hp so at the end you feel good because you see bigger numbers but end result is the same.

I thought it was common knowledge that eles are the red child of Anet? hmm, i guess some people need to play more to experience it themselves….anyways,

I actually dont like that idea, I choose ele because of how flashy they are and the different attunements. With that being said, if what you want to do is run around in one element, the best one right now is fire, for staff. As long as you are in a group and have a build like 30/20/0/0/20 you should be ok

Attunement Switching

I believe the base CD for them need to be reduced by 3-4 seconds flat.

Given how our concept is no longer “switch at the right moment” but rather “switch all attunements to be able to be on par with others, kida-ish” I think our core mechanic needs to brought up to par. It would give us access to some of our defense mechanics and alleviate our current survival problems, specially for staff and focus. Perhaps also bringing down the CD for some of the CC skill on staff and focus could help. Also fire #2 lava font needs redesign (necro marks with first initial tick double damage could do the trick), air #3 gust keeps missing 11/10 times, air #1 needs more base damage vs single target and same for #2 , less casting time or more damage.

Thoughts? Improvements?

Personally staff is my do-it-all-one-army-man, barely ever do I use my Scepter or dagger for that matter (Anet should give us a new weapon, perhaps focus would fit us……lol).

Dungeons? Staff
PvE open world? Staff
WvW? Staff
sPvP? I dont play that anymore given how we are the most UP class i the game
Long distances in PvE like Orr where Points are perma contesed? D/D for mobility. Seriously Anet, was it really necessary to nerf RtL in PvE cuz of PvP?!

What am I supposed to do in WvW?

Dont get me wrong, i love bunker, rather, I love being a healer, but in this game there are no dedicated healers and I dont like the current way to deliver “healing” in this game, so I decided to play a damage guardian, with at least greatsword since its all about Sunrise, but Im having issues. I blow in zergs, cant roam since everything escapes me if it desires to do so, everyone expects me to be a bunker in the front line with line warding. Do we have a way to reliably kill stuff in WvW that doesnt not involve standing on the back with staff “tagging” stuff while bunkering?

Cant outrun anyone, cant heal (look at warriors healing signet, more than twice our base hp, dont need to spend any skill to get healing from it, heals them for too much per second…) , cant blind, cant stealth, cant use clones, cant use skills when dead……how the heck are we supposed to do any damage in a fight if 80% of the time we are too busy trying to keep ourselves alive……?!

You play ele for teh challenge.

Go play S/D thief or Healing Signet Warrior and dominate within a few minutes without even reading skills and traits tooltips. Trust me on this one.

I would be ok if challenge translated into; “harder but still effective” rather than “harder but very ineffective still” , my goodness, I copy pasta signet warrior build into PvP and rolled heads …..

Not to mention how many of the ele utilities are not on par with every other class. Oh and how the eles disengage was nerf hammered while the wars disengage was buffed to the point of being able to totally run from a zerg. Point being, the many aspects of what is wrong with the ele comes mostly from area nets nerfs to the class or major buffs to particular aspects of other classes that the ele is weak against.

This is one of my biggest gripes, how come a guard has access to stability ever 24 secs teamwide but my ele has the same in 90 secs CD?! Guard as a mist form that actually heal them on a 25 secs CD (their heal which blocks everything and heals at the end, apparently eles using utilities and heal during mist forwith 75 CD was too strong…)

The game is beautiful, i dont mind only one game mode, I actually enjoy most maps, but i have one, big gripe, and that is balance.

Anet doesnt have the resources (sadly) to deal with it, Eles keep deteriorating, yet people [devs] still keep saying they are “ok” when they had around the same MLG representation as there was ….cant think of anything witty to say, but I blame the sadness that comes from seeing 0 representation of eles at high level gameplay.

Eles have literally no way to survive; , no aegis, no blocks, cantrips on 90 secs CD and selfish, guards do the same on 20 secs, lowest hp and armor in the game, damage doesnt even make up for it, heals got nerfed, a guard does a way better job while pumping out the same if not more damage, heck, even warrior with their highest hp in the game can have the best healing per second in the game by doind literally nothing, but apparentl our healing signet needed to be have its healing nerfed in half , to make it match not even 1/3 of the warriors signet, which doesnt need to waste a single skill to get some healing, and still have 3 times the hp……

w/e, I dont want to turn this thread into antoher rant, the PvP balance, simply put, sucks.

As an engineer player I have to say stop complaining. Oh boo hoo; you have it about half as bad as we do, and not even for as long. Cry me a river and get in line.

bunker engi, condi engi, tool engi, burst engi (granted, not as effective), ca stack 25 mights on its own quickly, can stack vulnerability quite good for himself too.

Elementalists (but not only them, mind you) need some love, which is true.

But yes, ele forum community is overexaggerating and dramaqueening a LOT the issues.

PvE: conjurers are probably highest DPS in game. It is boring? Yes. Is bad cause is a gimmick? Yes. But numbers don’t lie.

WvW: zerg – wise, Eles are required. Period. You can’t pretend to play a organized WvW team without staff Eles backline healing, buffing, comboing and CCing the world for your frontline.

Roaming and sPvP wise, the issue is simple: Ele has been balanced, in this year, taking as reference the top players. Now, Anet as usual overdid it. Which means that very good eles will have to work ten times harder than any other class, but somehow pull things off.
The rest of the population switch to other classes.

No one is overreacting, if your class were to be neglected for over a year (yes, D/D was strong, but mind you that most people played it out of necessity, many of us have been asking for staff to be balanced from day 1), after countless of “civilized” threads, of countless feedback, of countless of references from “pros” and still being ignored, you would also get very angry. So yes, we are in all our rights to demand these things after more than 1 year of gameplay and seeing every class get buffs and getting stuff working out for them.

Conjures are a gimmick, simple as that. They drop after one minute, they have charges, they drop when you go down, they drop when you use mist, you switch to weapon skills and drops, people pick them up in fights most of the time, fights usually move away from the weapon, rendering it useless since you cant use it. They lock you out of other skills, once you try to use one of your true weapons skills, you lose the conjures. They are fun things to use in open world, questionable in dungeons since they need the enemy to be agaisnt the wall and you have to be melee, which for an ele without access to any defense skill, any weapon skill, no utilities (since conjures take that space) no armor, lowest hp in the game, one wrong move or the boss decides to hug you and you will die, or go down, either way become a drag to your team and lose the weapon nonetheless, with a 1 minute CD utility which you cant use.

We want viable weapons, specially staff, not too much to ask give how 7 other classes have most of their weapons functional. We only have 3 weapons single handed, only 1 two-handed, and yet only ONE weapon on “acceptable” state.

Oh Im sorry, did you just say you arent the top represented class in the game (next to warrior with 14% both) , where 3x% of the people participating in MLG (more than eles, which had literally ZERO representation) which is one third of the total amount of people, more than some other classes combined. I cant go into a dungeon run without having a ranger or two, hecvk , even my last TA run was 4 rangers and poor loner ele me.

Seriously, stop spreading those things about the ranger class, you have NOT been neglected, you have very OP speccs in PvP, people play them all the time. PLease stop putting us together, we are in a WAYYY worse state than a ranger could ever fear.

People too lazy to use swiftness skills are buying them all up, and TP flippers bump the prices up accordingly.

Or rather tired of the terrible design that required you to run a 25% increase speed utility.

Not every class gets perma swiftness. I can honestly say this was a great design for the rune set, but as always tied to RNG. I have not found a single superior rune that wasn’t garbage since beta.

Not every class should get perma swiftness. What would be point of swiftness then? If you ask me there is already too much swiftness going around.

ehh, whats that? you would gladly give up your monility to give it to me? Sure I accept it. You can now go and think about your actions and regret the decision, but I wont give you your swiftness back.

Simply put; balance classes, from the core, not just cutting her and there and buffing here and here and here and there and then nerfs eles again for good measure.

I love the game but everytime i enter pvp it makes me want to throw a kitten and a puppy down a spiked stair. The game consists of dungeons and wvw end game, yet it seems all the class balance is based solely on pvp, so you get a lot of angry people who out of spite sabotage it, and complain.

You want people to take esport seriously? Start treating classes seriously

Nobody cares about a game where a thief can pop out of nowhere and pop a ele In a sec with no counterplay, fun for the thief, but neither fun for the rest of the player base nor the watchers. Same with AIs, people go OOHHHhh when a player does a hard and complicated combo is pulled, but nobody is impressed when a stunned ranger hits 3 keys and an ele blows , or when you throw a couple clones and phatasms and they do their work for you, or when minions clog the observer and players vision, and then proceed to steamroll the enemy, and a little asura in the middle of it all, spamming conditions

Well, the gen store is inside the game, and if you makr hold into gems i can guarantee you it will cost less than a entire t3 cultural armor

We first have to make sure to introduce some of the armors pesent in pvo but not in pve before we can even think about making new ones.

Well, we haven’t got ores, logs and scraps for ascended materials as now, after all. And you can’t pretend to get an ingot or plank from a ring. Subunits are necessary.

I would be quite ok with guaranteed dark matter orbs as well as a veeeeeeeeeryyyyy high chance for 1000 luck drop

W/e we are still on the bottom of the barrel because we play ele, so dont expect them to listen to you. Do like everyone else have done; either keep fighting till something resambling balance is achieved or roll a ranger and faceroll people like he did to you

Why you think that support class should be some super killing machine? Use staff and heal.

A.net official elem presentation: Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack.

“Elementalists are pidgeonholed autoattack lackers who are stuck in elemtal attunements for long periods of time, making fire, air, water and earth be in cooldown when you actually need it. Elementalist PvP Solution

Just give mesmers your condi clear access to protection off a 5 pt minor trait and healing off of a dodge roll. Guards have low health because they have high armor and good healing.

Eles have low health because they have good healing and good access to boons and great condi clear.

Thieves have low health because they have evade spam and stealth.

Maybe anet should undo some nerfs instead. Or reduce the cd on armor of earth. Both would be good.

Also D/D cleric eles still make some good back bunkers or far point assaulters… They just don’t do as much damage as they once did.

Did you just say that eles have a dodge heal and protection of a 5 minor point trait? Do you even play eles?! 30 points arcana AND then being in water attunement is the only way for that heal, on a 9 seconds cooldown. The reason it is said our condition removal is good is because ether renewal, because other than that we have about the same amount of condition removal as anyone else. Heck, a mesmer can have the same if not more with removing conditions on shatter, and let me tell you that if you say " but then you do no damage cuz that tree!" Well, we arent in any better shape, water/arcane isnt exactly our dps tree and unlike you we spent 50-60 points whereas you spent only 30
