ok, please lets not turn this into a zerker vs non-zerker dungeon thread. I mean the standard PuG which for the most part have zerkers or DPS oriented tanky peeps.

Lets say I were to do this everyday;
AC p1 & p3, HoTW p1, CoF p1, CoE p1 & p3, SE p1 p2 p3. Buy 180 armor with said tokens, salvage for ectos, sell every mat I come across. With a non-speed run party but normal pug that has done the dungeon before.

Same time it took to do those dungeons but champion faming in Frostgorge.
Which one would give the highest gold?

if you dont have healing power then it will remain the same, the buff was to the scaling, not the base healing. Personally I found it better, but thats because I have 250 healing power

It would be really great if guardians had access to Longbows! Not to mention it would fulfill the need for a long range weapon that does not involve wacky slowmoving missle who miss 3/5 shots.

Guardian: Longbow (AoE damage barrage, 1200 range, at least one strong CC). Perhaps offhand sword too (but only after longbow)
Elementalist : Greatsword, depending on attunement the range varies from 300 to 1200.
Lastly,
Scepter/focus warrior and double wielding shield thieves. [kidding!]

Personally I was very meh guardian before them, now I have them (and lost my scholar runes, but I never had a cahnce to use it anyways in WvW) and Im a guardian! Last night I was able to take down 4 enemies on my on (one at a time, different times) without much issues thanks to it, they would try to puppy kite me but every puppy time I would say " NOPE " . As a guy who is sick and tired of getting kited in sPvP i must say this is a godsend gift to guards and mesmers

Lol, the guardian is a lot more forgiving than the ele, thats for sure, but they arent an easy class to master right. In the right hands a guardian can make or break, more than an ele could ever hope in the same hands. Anyways. I play them both interchangably. As noted by the poster before, it is easier to pick up guardians, but they both have a lot of potential for skilled players. You might find your niche. Personally I like ele in open world more than my guard, but for almost everything else guard seems to be the best.

I had solely an ele for the past year, was fun (still is to certain extend), Im currently rolling a guardian though.
Both are fun, both have niche enviroment, the main difference is dungeons and WvW zergs. With ele staff you will be a great asset on a WvW zerg ball, whereas as a guardian you will e less impactful, except the line warding on staff, which we, ele, now have disposable to us at much lower CD (and less duration too), also some dungeons like CoE is better for ele since you can get Alpha to a wall and Fiery sword will melt him, or AC p1 and p3 for icebow. Most other dungeons is better with guard, specifically TA and Arah.
It is up to you. One of the main reason I also roll a guard is because I like Sunrise and eles cant use greatsword. The day eles can use GS and LB thats the day I wil solely play ele even if it is less unviable that what it is right now in PvP and small skirmishes.

Necros: Same as ranger, less power to pets, more to player. Less to conditions, more to mindful skills and careful positioning rather than spamming and overunning enemy cleanses’ CD. Buff their power speccs, redirect some of power of even condition speccs to abilities that involve more than spam conditions and hope he doesnt have any condition cleansing up. Usually it ends up in a paper/rock/scisso, in which the one with more turns wins (conditions have much lower CD than most condition cleansing, 10 secs average as opposed to 30-50 secs average).
Condtition stats in the game as general usaully come with toughness or vitality, so the way these character work is; really beefy and at the same time spammy and bursty thanks to bleed and burn.
Engis; Very potent bunkers, capable of defending very well, but outside of that very little variations. They suffer from the condition problem too. Not that they cant survive it, but conditions are currently flawed, condi engi is very potent and once conditions are tunned down that specc will be acceptable. Overall I would say give them more power builds, things that dont involve kits so much. Overall a strong class, once others get tunned down, specifically the way conditions work. Turret changes were a great start!
Thieves; The mechancis of the class allow for indiscriminate abuse of it, talking about stealth, evades and blinds. Stealth is still too strong, even with the reveal debuff. The ability to instantly burst down without counterplay is really strong, Im talking about 12k backstabs, (16 k in WvW without might stacks and only food) which can instantly drop a guardian, ele or another thief who happened to have revealed. Risk is non existant , yet stealth still punishes the ally team of the thief, a stealth thieves wont be contributing much to the score. Though their ability to secure kills is too strong, even for an assassin. Sw/D is the bigger offender. The ability to completely ignore any disengage of any class and engage and disengage at will is too strong of a mechanic. They need ways to punish careless usage of initiation, evades, blind, stealth or any combination of those. Overall I would say buff them for their lost power, they need to bring something else than killing potential to the team, they barely have any utility other than killing, at which warriors make a better job. They need better defense, without stealth/evade spam they blow too fast, but if I have to choose, keep the evades, tune down stealth and teleports, will make for timely use of skills and make the encounter more fun for both sides rather than just the thief side.
Mesmers; Strong duelists, weak everywhere else, specially tagging in fights and chasing opponents. Their utility is only matched by guardians, but damage wise they are lacking outside skirmishes. More AoE options could solve this. The way their stealth works is beautiful; small tactical stealth which have long CD, this concept should also be applied to thieves. overall they are really strong in organized teams, provide lot of good things, they just need minor fixes to make them be one of the strongest classes around.
Elementalist; left them for last, because these are the ones I have the most experience with, and the one that, in my opinion, need the most help. Though the staff changes were great, I believe we are going in the wrong direction with the class. Conjures isnt something many players desire to use in PvP given how the drawbacks greatly overweight the goods. The fact that they dont allow flexibility, they are limited and many other issues exposed before make them very undesirable. That aside, I would love to make them another option in PvP, I find flame axe and ice bow quite fun in concept. As for their support; staff has gotten some nice changes, specifically to its healing, but they pale next to engis and guardians, which is why you wont see them all that often, if ever, and I will explain why;
the core problem of eles have not being addressed yet; their lack of survavility and dependance of water/arcane. Most speccs have to run at least 20 in arcane and minimun 15 in water, that 35 trait points which are near mandatory for any respectable level play. Support eles usually specc into these so they dont have much issues, the rest cant afford this and thus we have things like what happened at MLG, were there were 0 ele given how they dont bring anything unique to the team and have more drawbacks than strenghts (I hate bringing it up, but it is a very important point and the trend wil continue unless something is done about it!).
Overall the game is really close of adquiring balance, only fixes and tunning up/down of certain mechanics. Nothing drastic should be made, but many considerations should.

I will try to be as unbiased as possible, and I mean it:
Overall I think we have been power creeping too much, some classes need some adjustements and others need some tuning up, but mostly tuning down.
Warriors; Overall skill cap is really low, offers great deal to the team. Great damage and CC, quite sturdy, comparable to a guardian, evne if not traited for it (unlike a guardian) given the passive of Healing Signet. On the flip side, they tend to be very kitable, their gap closers are liner and predictable. They either kill you or they dont, at which point they just run away, given their unmatched mobility. This was ground for nerfing on D/D ele which had insane mobility, insane healing and insane damage. Either 1 of those 3 needs to go, or they need to make a window for counterattack, because they are a solid wall as compared to others. Overall I believe every class should be brought to about their level, or guardian.
Guardian; Really tanky if built right, but their damage tend to go down the drain. Generally speaking they are pidgeon holed into support roles in PvP given the nature of sharing boons and converting conditions. On the flip side their DPS builds have suffered a bit, though the introduction of fury was a great start, now they can get access to some crit chance without having to go into Zeal. Their main issue isnt damage or surviving, but rather their ability to efficiently close gap or finish off targets., most of the time is either or. Burst guard is quite potent in WvW given Traveler runes and the stats scaling in PvE, this is not the case for PvP, and this should be taken into consideration, specially the mobility part. Either they need swiftness or cripples. Overall they are solid as far as supports go.
Ranger; My experience with them goes as follows; only tried power rangers, but I have had plenty of matches agaisnt them. Their class mechanic is almost totally negated in PvP, pets arent very useful, but at the same time Im glad of that,. Mindless Ai shouldnt dominate, more power to the ranger. I would say do like you said in the last SoTG, add a F2 skill, given them active powers, but make the AI less powerful. This is a trend that will follow my next cover of the classes; AI should not be beating players, players using skills should. I say we ignore those who want their pet to do 2-3k hit on each attack, but rather support those who want to use the wolf leap at a moment needed rather than whenever the wolf pleases, of course, have some DPS, but just minimal, and by minimal I mean REALLY minimal.

-Balance: specifically build diversity and also how stats are allocated, and their scaling in PvP compared to WvW and how this affects build diversity. Role of classes as opposed to role of “archetypes” (like ranged damage dealers, melee damage dealer, support, tank, etc)
-Ways to “show off” PvP content in PvE, and viceversa. Basically Im working really hard for armors and skins in PvE, going inot PvP makes me feel poor and a newcomer. Playing too much in PvP and when I go out to PvE I missed gold, experience, no skins, no chance to catch up.
- Underwater Balance and more interesting mechanics, specifically classes which are too strong there and others which are non existent.
-Writing a longer version on Balance-

Funny, there are 5 dev posts in the front page, 3 of them are warriors. Most of them dont really offer much constructive criticism yet they got attention. This post is a very thought-out post but since it lacks “warrior” in its tittle or text and it has “ele” on it, I dont expect anyone to ever look at it. Anyways, let me stop before I risk anything, by now I think it is becoming too obvious Warrior is the golden child given how even their most underused build is fully buffed, yet some classes cough ele cough still dont have ONE fully functional build.
I agree with everything on the post. I was at work when I saw it so couldnt bump it or rate it. Despite all that, i will say that I have been experimenting with them for a bit, and they do bring some strenghts. It is too early to tell, perhaps someone figures it out and can make it work somehow. Personally I havent had much success because everytime I need some defense I have to drop the weapon, which makes it go for a 1 minute CD. Usually i dont have time to use the weapon more than one full rotation, IF anything.
I do agree on making it like engi’s kit ONLY for the ele, perhaps even make them our “switch” ~ weapon, while conserving charges and duration.

On the skill it says 20% condition duration, on the buff that appears on you says 33% . Which one is it? (hopefully the utility tooltip one is the one bugged!)

personally I have been saving money, I have spent over 300 gold in rare swords, and about problably the same amount of gold/time in self crafted ones. At some point I realized that instead of getting pearl exotics, I could have used all that gold to buy the weapon straight up from the TP.
I know of cases of people who have spent much more than I have. I also know cases of people who get precursors quite often. RNG will be RNG. Safest bet, and out of experience; farm the gold, buy off TP.

Personaly im having some issues of my own too today. I have never had it, and when I do most of the time my internet also freezes. But not today; today i could chat normally, but skills wouldnt go off, people wouldnt move. Then DC. Been happening for about an hour or so.

I decided to switch air to water, for 20% more damage on vulnerability, something that isnt hard to achieve with icebow. Icestorm does give bleed stacks though, and I get some extra toughness while channeling. Im well aware I will suck, and I will get melted, but hey, it is worth a try!

Im about to run 30/10/30/0/0 or something of the sort on my ele, focusing on lava axe and icebow, want to see how power stacking + condition damage + condition duration works, both axe and bow provide burns and bleed, also might stacking and condition duration. Earth into damage 10% more damage if melee, also want to get some fury with fire finishers, which is now viable with axe. I will let you guys know, soldier first, then valkirie.
Any other suggestions? Shield perhaps could fit there, hammer i dont see it happening though, the melee chain is no something I like too much, though really strong.

Oh Im definitely one of those, I no longer take ele outside CoE and CoF, maybe AC p3, but thats about it, the class has been beyond gutted in PvP and now In WvW it even got yet another nerf with AoE now counting dodge and blocks ….. yay, I finally found the courage to pick up my guardian and fiish my almost complete Sunrise.
it is just that I like that change, now I can even use icebow #4 every now and then on other bosses

Toughness + Healing Power vs. Direct damage is extremely effective defense.
Your Warrior opponents that are clearly roflstomping you on sight are doing so because you’re rolling in with 1.9 to 2.1k armor while they have 2.5 to 2.7k armor with the same damage and more sustain because you probably aren’t using 30 water while they’re using 30 Defense, which provides a similar function for them.
Who’s to blame for that losing situation? You’re obviously too busy feeling sorry for yourself to look for solutions so have fun being miserable

As far as I can tell you cant kill an ele and assume they are good. i want to remind you; 0 MLG el, zero, nothing, nada. Most “pro” eles are leaving the ele scene. Ele players keep saying the same, heck, even non-ele players recognize it now. Here, let me show you a little video, watch it at your own discretion, this is by far the most unviased video made from a non-ele player, that tells worlds; (if you watch his channel you will see he doesnt play ele either, so it isnt a reroll)

You’re just silly if you don’t see how mega sustain D/D ele doesn’t keep a point nearly indefinitely vs a melee class.
You also have teammates. S/D can actually be even better for mega sustain, because you have two heals in water and blinds.
Warriors can build for Destruction of the Empowered, but come on… the HPS on Clerics Ele is enormous it’s gonna take way too long for it to be worth it.
Spoiler, D/D is no more, their “mega sustain” as you poorly described isnt all that mega anymore, specially after the water nerfs to cantrips, the halved healing of it in PvP (which Im sure you diodnt even know about) , the fact that their CDs got increased, specially on their disengages. Their sustain is nothing relaly to be poround anymore, if anything it is their only way of non insta wiping themselves.
While D/D is strong, they fade away in front of the more popular cheese builds, namely warriors nad rangers, who can get more sustain and still bring double the damage. When was the last time you saw a good D/D ele? And let me warn you, for your forum sake, I advice you that you dont admit you got beaten by one, that will prove just how bad of a player you are
edit: oh and I forgot, the arcane dodge heal got nerfed twice, one with an ICD, and now we reduced AoE. I hoipe you can make your own conclusions off that

I guess nobody else found it impressive. In the midst of all nerfs overall we got, all unnecesary nd wronlyplaces buffs, I think this one was well deserved. Doesnt solve the problem lava font has in PvP, but as far as PvE is concerned, Im majorly happy about it

Run S/F Fresh Air and Elemental Surge and stop whining already.
If you can’t handle Zerker, then do Valkyrie’s with Zerker Jewel and drop Fresh Air for 20 Water.
If you play smart on a burst class and your teammates have good sustain – damage builds you can come in and blow up their called targets and get out pretty much unscathed.
Also, if there are a bunch of Warriors and they are using direct damage, which most do by copying and pasting LB/Hammer, old school D/D sustain ele keeps the point and outlasts them and they waste their time trying to kill you while your teammates will be in a better position to outnumber them.

And nobody here is whinning, well maybe, but for good reasons. Scepter/dagger is a kamikaze build (much like the old “underpowered” warrior which warranted buffs because how how they would come in, burst and then die), no way of disengaging that does not give you a 40 seconds handicap, arcanes, core mechanic to their burst got stealth nerfed, so there goes their DPS down, which was the “strong point” about the semi-viable build.
I do agree scepter/dagger needed some tunning down, but I see no compensation for it.
I repeat, and everyone here who has use of logic will keep repeating the same;
Nobody wants a kamikaze in their team who all he brings is the possibility of a burst down with the unavoidable fate of a certain death. Thats why eles will see no MLG gameplay until this is addressed. Eles need ways of surviving, ways that doesnt involve growing 2 extra pairs of hands and eyes. Ways that are available to the class on a moments notice. A good start would have been (given how devs really want conjures to work) to make earth shiled a stun breaker and insta so we could use shield #5 at A MOMENTS NOTICE
Reflect upon that statement, realize its truth, comeback once you accept it and ascend to being a logic human being

As a melee class this sucks indeed, but you have to take into considerations other things.
Melee have access to cleavage, Im of the one I say we bring guardians to warrior’s capability of survavil on a glassy build. I still dont understand how a zerker warrior can survive more than a medium bunker/zerker guardian. Guardian’s passive healing should be higher than healing signet. Zerker guardians are not exactly viable, they have been pidgeon holed into support. PoV was a major hit for them too.
I agree that AoE needs to be toned down, it is preventing certain classes get their deserved buffs, like staff ele, which is now heavily affected by how AoE count dodges and blocks, yet they received no compensation for it.
I say give the game another 2 years, maybe things will start balancing out soon after. I have faith still.
I would recommend to change the tittle of the thread though, or prepare to face thread extinction.

Arcanes were NOT nerfed. People still seem to be unaware of the fact that arcanes’ tooltip are not being adjusted and displayed correctly (sometimes they are and other times they are not, but the actual damage doesn’t change because of the tooltip), so every single patch, when somebody looks at the tooltips, they conclude that they were nerfed, when they were not.
Exact same issue on the Engi forums with some turret skills, tooltip error,
so I’m inclined to believe this.
lets hope this is the case, im dubious myself, I prefer number, they speak for themselves. If this is the case then I will rest the case, otherwise prepare for the outburst of angry eles (not just me, I already realize how futile that is given how 14 months has pased and nothing good has really come our way that is not 3x better for others) that will come this way.
Also, I would like to point out that conjures is not what we have been askng, neither is the change to air movement. I will settle down a bit, I realize my head is hot and I havent given it enough time, perhaps Im wrong, I will try conjures again and will post here after 2 weeks. Just to let you know this isnt the first time a stealth nerf has happened before, and if true is is a MAJOR one for eles, arcanes were probably the last resort staff ele had to put any damage out that didnt involve a golem.

We have “elemental gathering tools”, bought them on my ele (regreattably since Anet seems to be actively trying to erase us from the game, 15% stealth nerf to arcane FTW!) but now that guardian is my main, I would like to see “Holy Gathering Tools”!
For plants perhaps when you cut it a white-winged angel comes out and like the human’s heal

Sarcasm aside. I keep reapiting it and I wont get tired of it;
Staff did get some nice stuff, I admit, fire #4 finally usable! Air #3 still misses 9/10 times, I will post a video (when I learn how to record) of how it misses even in PvE vs mosters! It is about as bad as guardian’s scepter #1, except we cant spam it.
Core ele issues are still; low damage coefficient for such low defense coefficient (stats and active defense wise). Dependance of at least 15 water points and 20 arcane, total of minimun 35 trait points which NOBODY cant really deviate from. 15 seconds is still too long of a recharge. Staff main strenght is CC, or so devs want to emphasize, yet, the CD on most skills are 40 seconds, low if any damage (ice field and lighting cage both have near 0, actually 0 on icefield) yet a hammer warrior brings the same CC on 7 seconds CD, AoE and actually does damage….

Im still amazed at what you just did to eles arcanes. This was pointed out by another player and I didnt want to believe it. Arcanes base damage got stealth nerfed by around 15%. Apparently eles cant have nice things. Not to mention that you buffed everyone else too, and all we got for the most part is conjures buffs….. conjures, which bring close to nothing for the amount of handicaps it has like; 1 min CD, drops for just about ANYTHING; mist form, downed, when you need to us defensive skills, random people pick it up, fight moves away from the weapon, charges, time limit, very limited charges. Staff? Got some buffs yet completely nerfed with it taking into consideratio all the dodges and blocks now count towards AoE limit…..I throw a Meteor shower in a fight and all I see now is “miss miss dodge blocked blocked dodge dodged blocked”.
Thats it, I give up in the class. Im really really disgusted with the arcane nerf, probably the only way we staff ele had to deal any consistent damage in PvP, gone.

Well, despite the fact that I didnt like many changes about ele (not that im not happy about the buffs, just that they buffs came mostly in places we didnt ask for, I would have preferred if they had focused on the issues with survival but oh well, conjures are fun I guess)
Im actually liking that for dungeons, basically if we can keep the boss in the same place lava font is a boss killed, add the fact that meteor shower is actually daring to hit more than once or twice and i gotta admit staff DPS in dungeons have gone up!

Would rather have shortbow. Need a Ranged DPS option that is 1200 or more range which staff does NOT fulfil and GS, if it were added, would just be an expanded Fiery GS which means yet another melee/close range weapon.
They should take frost bow and expand it to the other 3 attunements. Then replace Conjure Frostbow with Conjure Frost Blade (sword).
Hahahah loved your logic; “Hey we already have fiery sword, so I will use that argument to disregard your petition, instead I will impose my own petition and bend the same rule I applied to your, the argument ‘we already have said conjure’ and change its nature. Meaning, you cant have your GS but I want shortbow and I do what i want!”
Let me guess, you want the Dreamer, because have you really meant a 1200 weapon you would have said longbow, given how all shortbows in the game are 900, and the fact that you would go as far as deny the logic by which you tried to negate my petition.
No bro, I dont want eles wearing unicornshooting ranibows, not my style. I want Kudzu on ele too!!! But currently Ice bow is my favorite conjure.
Im sure you wont see the flaw in your logic given how you were the one to formulate it to begin with, so let me put your logic in my argument;
Why should we get a shortbow? We already have a medium range weapon called scepter, further more, we arlready have a conjure icebow which fulfill that spot. Instead we should concentrate on the magic part of eles and how they can channel magic through weapons and give us a weapon that normally you wouldnt find in a range evnviroment; Greasword. They should integrate Fiery sword into the fire attunement and instead of the elite instead we have a Conjure Frost Blade that would be similar to sword.

Jokes asides, I think people really understimate the strenght of a perma stealth D/D 10k backstab 5k HS thief, or a Sword/Dagger with perma dodges is given how they can get away from pretty much everything and kill pretty much everything, specially if they use boons. As for engi/ranger/necros, conditions are too strong in general, they ned to be brought down or be affected by toughness, unless you have to put aother stat like “armor penetration” to get a percentage off. A zerker gear has 3 stats, for offense, no defense, do or die, yet most of the condition ones have only condition damage as offensive stat, rest is healing or toughness or vitality, which is totally unfair and make them tanky as well as bursty (dont tell me 15-20 stack of bleed each hitting 120 a second x15 or 20 isnt bursty, constantly reapplying, with added 2-3 conditions so that you cant get rid of it easily)
My suggestion is to bring eles up to par with everyone else, it seems to be the best way to use the elast resources. I mean, whats easier, bring down 7 classes to ele’s state and have 87% (only 13% play ele as far as the graph says, but apparently 0 in MLG in “pro” scene) of the population raging, or bring eles up to par with everyone and have 13% very happy.

Dunno, but for me that was a one way beat down of the engi, Im really hoping this isnt a bragging thread of your part by uploading this video though….. conditions are in a really bad state right now and all that engi did was put countless conditions which bypass any form of defense on a class that has the lowest hp in the game.
Perfect fight you say? I had those fights in the MMO-that-must-not-be-mentioned, where I reached 2k rating in arena, where all classes had an equal footing, fights could go either way, and everyone had specific roles. Here? Most classes cant hold their ground in 1v1s, you have the prevalence of Stunlock warriors, cond/minion/or fear mancers, spirit rangers, Sw/D or D/D thieves, shatter mesmers which are the best duelist. Then at the bottom of the barrel, past the first 7 hells, oblivion, netherworld, and Hell’s pit you find eles which cant do much of anything and much of giving away free bags in WvW.
This game has a lot of balancing to do before I consider its PvP worthy of recognition

not as far as Im concerned. However, i was glad to find out we have stealth about 4 months ago; was being chased by some angry mob of players so i decided to cast earth #5 and water #5 and go down with a flashy bang. to my surprise I stealthed into safety, water took me far enough, popped air #5 and got out of the water. I bet those poor bastarrds didnt expect that one!

while we are at it lets remove the purple laser, the whirling part and add skils like that of the fiery greatsword different variants for different elements, different ranges and uses for different attunements and call it elementalist GS.
Im definitely down for Longbow too, but only after GS.

Personally i would love if GS was a 1200 single target heavy damage and CC weapon with cleavage. Make the ele move the GS a lot too, and flashy animations!
