So you’re saying you’re more hardcore for farming an extremely large amount of continue coins, wasting hours, instead of just converting gold to get it. Okay, sure. I guess farming is ‘hardcore’ now.

Not at all. I, like just about everyone else who has done Tribulation, bought the ICC and trial and errored my way to victory. I just think the hardcore act is getting a wee bit silly on here. While some jumps are rather difficult there is no real skill involved in repeatedly dying to find the real path. That’s just a matter of persistence. All in all I found that the Clock Tower required more skill than this. I also found it more enjoyable but that’s a matter of taste.

Tribulation mode is unfair.

It has good parts and bad parts. Sometimes you can tell where a trap is just by looking at the environment and that’s when I really enjoy Tribulation mode. When you’re rewarded for stopping and thinking about it. Guild Wars 2 needs more of that stuff.

Going to have to agree with that. If you bought the ICC you really have no right to call yourself hardcore. Josh even compared it to using a Game Genie. If you did everything without it… well, hats off to you.

Anybody could already complete it given a few hours of time and 600 gems to spend on the pay to win coin. Just need to hit up a youtube video and follow it step by step. Give it some trial and error and voila.

I did it the hard way and I’ve retained my rewards. Where’s the finger in that?

Stop being so angry just because a few more people are allowed to share in on the fun. Not everybody has a perfect Internet connection or the ability to play the game under ideal circumstances. This needs to be accounted for when designing content. Josh and gang did the responsible thing here in tuning the difficulty.

The content was nerfed because it relied too heavily on a perfect connection. This is an online game and as such they need to take a multitude of connections into consideration when they design the content. Why is this so difficult to understand?

The hit detection is way off in some cases which really is inexcusable with one hit kills. The content just feels sloppily designed.

Awful patch! They just wanted to stop the sheetstorm on the boards, and decided to feed the haters spirit rangers. No balancing involved. Changes weren’t carefully weighted, there was no shaving, they just chopped it so they won’t have to publicly feel ashamed anymore of their own work.

Hit the nail on the head there. At first all the whining was about necromancers but then it gradually shifted to spirit rangers and that’s who ended up playing the role of the sacrificial sheep.

We’ve been stuck with the same PvE meta since day one with engineers, necromancers and rangers all being unwanted presences in groups and yet these are the classes who end up being pushed further into the kittencreek due to SPvP. SPvP is actively killing this game.

At least they had enough common sense to make it SPvP only. At this point I wouldn’t mourn if SPvP was removed from the game entirely and the resources were spent in more worthwhile places. Total waste of development time as far as I’m concerned.

I also can’t help but feel bad for rangers. They got completely kittened over.

Actually can we get rid of pve. It’s ruining the game. Sorry you have to actually use a little skill now to use spirits. I am a ranger main and actually love this change.

If they want to lose the vast majority of their playerbase I suppose that would be a good idea.

No, really, I think it’s ridiculous to allow the SPvP minority to continue running the game into the ground with their tantrums. This game will never take off as an e-sport and the sooner ArenaNet understands that and cuts their losses the better.

So what is your excuse this time?

In zergs, the stat difference is pretty irrelevant.

Utter nonsense. In zergs upscaled players and poorly geared players alike typically end up as resurrection fodder for the enemy.

They should have just copied the skin system from DCUO and then made some skins super rare drops. Could have also tied certain skins to dungeons. But nope, instead they went for the gear treadmill nobody wanted and we’re stuck with transmutation stones.

I fear it’s too late at this point. One year after launch we still have no real systems to facilitate the cosmetic progression we were supposed to have. Instead stat inflation is worse than ever. Just try bringing a character in greens to WvWvW and see how long you can survive without exotics and ascended. Skill no longer accounts for much outside of SPvP and it’s sad.

I think the crux of the issue here is that ArenaNet has largely abandoned their original vision in favor of some weird hybrid which isn’t really pleasing anyone.

They promised no gear treadmill and no grind and that the progression would be cosmetic.

A year after launch and we still have no cosmetic progression, the game instead opting for an uninspired WoW light model to retain interest. The basic systems to facilitate cosmetic progressions aren’t even implemented. Instead all the focus has gone to creating another tier of statistically superior items and we’re stuck with transmutation stones just like in WoW.

I wish there was an incentive to actually play in smaller groups because it is a lot more fun. But nope, all the loot is rewarded to the mindless zerg. It’s especially bad with the Scarlet events since the bigger the zerg is the more champions you’ll get.

It’s messed up how you give ten times as much only to end up with ten times less for it.

Too many weapons are pink as is. It’s impossible to find decent looking weapons as a necromancer since everything is mesmer tuned.

Until they introduce a proper skin wardrobe the answer is yes.

I seriously hope they’re working on this because having cosmetic progression without a tool to actually facilitate said progression is just all kinds of stupid. Slope the transmutation stones and get on the ball with this. Maybe then more folks will actually buy skins from the gem shop.

It is indeed a faceroll and utterly boring. I’d love for them to introduce world PvP between the three Orders to spruce things up a little. Would no doubt bring the zone back to life too with dynamic PvP objectives and all that jazz.

Remove mob loot entirely and put all the rewards at the end of the event chain. Then hand out rewards based on player performance. Make things like damage done and resurrections performed count towards the total score.

There you go, game fixed.

This actually makes a lot of sense. People who redeemed their tokens to get a weapon in the past already knew it couldn’t be traded. The whole intention of the redemption was to have a weapon they could use, not sell. It wouldn’t be fair for them to get a weapon was bound, and then to unbind it for sale with the update.

While I can’t speak for anyone else when I redeemed my token I did so because I figured they’d make the token worthless otherwise since nothing suggesting otherwise was ever communicated. I did not desire the weapon skin for myself. A guild member on the other hand did desire it and I stashed it for her hoping that they at some point would come to their senses and make the skins tradable. Now they finally did except… well, yeah.

There is nothing fair about making your players have to guess how something is going to work the next week. Those people who did acquire the skins with the intent to use them did so and those skins are now glued to weapons and as such not even a factor here. The only decent thing to do is to make all the skins tradable. The question is if they will do it.

Only reason I even used my ticket was because I thought the items would disappear from the vendor when the event ended. Wish I’d have kept the ticket now.

A lot of us are in that boat. The communication on this from ArenaNet has and continues to be awful. I’d like to hope that they’re quietly working on a fix but that seems unlikely.

You bought those skins without ever considering that they were going to be sold.

That isn’t the issue here. The issue here is that people who kept their tokens are being rewarded for not using them when we had no way of knowing that these tokens were going to be redeemable later on.

They need to either make them all account bound or make them all not account bound. Anything else would be completely unfair.

All the progression is RNG based and it stinks. In the only facet of the game where skill actually matters to some extent ( SPvP ) there aren’t even any real rewards. Yes, the state of the game sucks and ArenaNet doesn’t seem to know how to make it not suck.

Me, I’d advocate removing mob loot entirely and instead handing players rewards based on their performance in various events. Discourage the auto attack spammers trying to tag everything while rewarding the people actually getting kitten done. I don’t mind a bit of random thrown in there to spice things up but the deciding factor should be your performance.

No kidding. First they nerf contents of bags already acquired and now they do this. At least they had enough common sense to revert the karma nerf for a day.

I don’t think I’ve ever played an MMO this poorly handled before. You can’t even trust the core systems to function anymore what with minis being removed from the bank. What’s the point in even trying to progress when ArenaNet could just revert all that progression in a single patch because they felt like it? Trust is important and I’ve got none left for this company.

Yes and there was no alternative but to assume at that point. We just made the wrong assumption and are now getting punished for it. They could have just as easily made the tokens worthless following the removal of the skin vendor.

This is not how you run a supposed AAA MMO and if they don’t understand the consequences of incessantly jerking around the playerbase like this… well, then I wish them all the luck in the world because they’ll surely need it.

If you held your TOKEN then you clearly did not intend to use the skin on your characters because you still have the TOKEN.

If you held your SKIN, then you already cashed in your token for the skin you intended to use.

A lot of people assumed that the vendor would disappear and that the token would be made worthless since back when the fused weapons first came up there was no black lion skin vendor. I got a token and I did not want any of the skins. I traded the token in and now I’m stuck with a skin I do not want. My only recourse would be to buy another skin and stack them to fix the issue.

And that’s really the great issue with this game as a whole. Instead of properly communicating how things work to their playerbase ArenaNet forces us to rely on guesswork. I’m really not sure why they’re so intent on running the game into the ground by acting like this.

Yes, it does seem to have become somewhat of a trend. A very unfortunate one.

As somebody who has invested countless of hours into this product it worries me greatly to see this kind of arrogant disregard for the playerbase. People spent time and money on this and a lot of us were overjoyed to hear that the restrictions were finally lifted only to find out that it doesn’t apply to those of us who traded in our tickets because…. well?

We’re not soothsayers here and I think it’s kind of unfair to expect us to somehow magically know how things are going to play out. Those tickets could just as easily have been made worthless and then other players would have been just as screwed over. This just isn’t cool. It’s wrong and plain mean.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of commanders think their glorious blue nacho somehow gives them the right to command. Well, it doesn’t. If you want people to follow you and respect you you’re going to have to earn that. Lead well and it’s only a matter of time. That hundred gold might give you the tool but it does not give you the talent.
