How low has your server gotten Tequatl?

And now there will be an influx of players trying on a few servers (like Blackgate) while noone bothers attempting Tequatl on all others.

Yep, Anet just killed PvE on smaller servers entirely with this raid.

The bigger issue here is that condition caps still haven’t been reworked and when half the zerg shows up ready to deal condition damage you’ve got a problem on your hands.

Yeah, either get rid of the timer or obliterate his health. The fight is kind of fun mechanically but the health is simply absurd. Maybe make him spawn risen clerics who heals him that we can actually counter instead?

I have an idea, each (won) fight = 1 tequatl token, 10 tokens at the vendor = ascended weapon.

But that would make it not RNG and we all know we can’t have that.

Yes, players need to get better.

He’s spawned twice now. Get over yourself.

No amount of getting better will make up for not being properly geared.

This fight boils down to statistics, not skill. And that is the crux of the issue.

He needs to have his health cut in half if not more. While I don’t necessarily think he’s impossible to kill it’s unreasonable to expect the entire zerg to be packing ascended and exotics. Maybe it’s time for a decrease in the gear gap? Something needs to happen.

This currently is as close as we get to raid content in GW2. It is a good start.

This isn’t raid content, it’s just a buffed up bullet sponge of a world boss. People aren’t having issues figuring out the mechanics, people are having issues dealing with the absurd amount of health he’s packing. I’ve seen the fight be done to perfection and still not get anywhere close to actually taking him down since a lot of the players were underleveled and undergeared.

While I too want difficulty in my encounters this kind of hit point bloating is the absolute worst kind. Especially when you factor in the gear treadmill which has now been made obligatory.

Fungalfoot.7213

Which brings up this question: is it reasonable to ask everyone who goes to the Tequatl fight to have the right gear for fighting him? Or to have an ascended or better weapon?

I hate to say this but yes. If you do opt to go there in nothing but blues you will be a burden and take up a slot which could be better used by somebody else. This unfortunately also goes for people who just wants to quest in the zone while the raid is up.

I can’t help but think that ArenaNet has completely lost sight of their vision.

Fungalfoot.7213

World bosses cannot be crit apparently so Zerkers may be the worst gear to fight this boss.

Fair point. I still don’t think toughness is going to do much for you since it does nothing to mitigate condition damage which is what is killing most people from what I’ve observed. The only real solution is to stack power and roll with an ascended weapon and then pray that the rest of the zerg does so too or you will inevitably fail.

Great Fight - DO NOT NERF IT

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Fungalfoot.7213

Fungalfoot.7213

Yeah, good luck whittling down his health with no zerkers on him. Tell me how that works out for you. I’ve yet to see him go below 80% and that’s with people who actually know how to dodge and stay on him while dealing with ads. He has too much health for the limited timer, simple as.

I’m sure he’s doable in a timely fashion with an entire zerg decked out in exotics and ascended but you cannot prevent people with lousy gear from participating in an open world boss.

in Tequatl Rising

Fungalfoot.7213

The problem here is that you have a bunch of people show up in blues wanting to participate.

And while it’s totally not their fault the design of the encounter simply doesn’t allow for it. He has way too much health and the design conflicts entirely with ArenaNet’s stated of goal of wanting to allow everyone to participate. Either put the content in an instance and make it a proper raid or nerf his health down to acceptable levels. This is kitten.

I suspect more classes will be given counters to stealth and that this is just the first taste. Second if we want to count WvWvW traps.

And it’s a very good thing too. As stealth becomes more counterable it will allow thieves ( and mesmers to a lesser extent ) to receive buffs in other areas. Counterplay is a necessity for fun gameplay and should be embraced.

Fungalfoot.7213

I agree that DCUO did it perfect from the player perspective, but how does a company make money off that. Do they charge gems every time you swap skins or charge gems every time you withdraw a skin from your locker? There would be no reason for anyone to buy trans stones from the gemstore, and as a result i doubt something like that will make it ingame. At most we will get a locker space to deposit skin items into, but quantity will be limited and trans stones needed

Just like League of Legends makes money; by selling skins. With a proper system to facilitate the collecting of skins more players will want to buy them. Right now nobody is buying skins because they aren’t really collectable due to the shoehorned transmutation system. The transmutation system is doing more harm than good and it needs to go.

DCUO has a very cool wardrobe system where every “look” you encountered or purchased etc. is stored forever for your character and you can mix and match infinately from the pool you have. I DO NOT find any plausible reason for ANET not to do the same in a game where cosmetics are as important as stats..

So glad to see somebody else mention the system used in DCUO because as far as cosmetic progression goes that game had it down perfectly and I spent most of time searching for pieces to complete my sets. The transmutation system is awful.

Sadly you’ll see a lot more of that as they continue to encourage the progression crowd by adding more pointless numbers to chase. Forget all about playing the game for fun. Combo fields and finishers were suppose to fulfill the roles. Harder content needs to revolve around the proper timing and use of these except it is nearly impossible without use of a voip.

It doesn’t help that the fields override one another. Be neat if combo fields could actually combo for stronger effects and if encounters were designed to take this into consideration.

Has ArenaNet abandoned underwater combat?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fungalfoot.7213

Fungalfoot.7213

They don’t seem to care about anything which doesn’t fit their misguided e-sport agenda. PvE balance has been in a miserable state since launch and yet just about every single balance change has been driven by SPvP issues and when it comes to that underwater combat is just about irrelevant.

So yes, they certainly seem to have abandoned it for now. Maybe things will improve once the e-sport obsession dies down a little.

Fungalfoot.7213

I agree that people want goals.

But those goals were supposed to come in the form of new skills and skins. If there is one thing I miss from Guild Wars it’s the skill hunting. Bigger numbers is just a poor substitute for real progression and real progression is what Guild Wars 2 needs. Allow us to unlock more weapon types. Allow us to unlock multiclassing. Allow us to collect skins and give us a wardrobe to store said skins in. Allow us to make use of our personal instance and search the world for things to fill it with.

You want to be different from all the other MMOs thriving on pointless gear grinds? Then give us REAL progression!

Not until ascended equipment becomes the standard. Right now they’re going to have to design content to be completable by people in exotics and this effectively means that people in ascended will steamroll it.

The gear grind is having a huge impact on how content is being designed and it needs to be abolished.

I didn’t pick this game up because I wanted gearing. I picked this game up because I wanted cosmetic and skill based progression. Numbers do absolutely nothing for me and I honestly find it an exceedingly dumb way of doing progression. It has brought nothing but imbalance to the world of Guild Wars.

ArenaNet needs to realize that they can’t possibly appease the GW crowd and the WoW crowd at the same time. They need to pick an audience and stick with it before it’s too late. I know a lot of old GW players are looking to EQN now.
