Warrior is currently God mode in both PvE and PvP.
It was most likely a hack and he used his skills in an attempt to poorly disguise it. I’ve noticed that most hackers tend to gravitate towards stealth classes since it makes it so much easier for them to do what they do without getting caught. It’s kind of a dead giveaway when you see an elementalist floating in the air but a thief can stealth and then float to avoid rousing suspicion. Kind of rare to see other classes do it nowadays but it still happens.
Unfortunately the powers that be don’t want you to know how easily hackable this game is and the last time I tried to bring it to attention to get some real answers out of them I was infracted for it.
Do it with your screen turned off and there you go. Tribulation mode achieved.
It better not come back… I don’t mind if they offer new weapons but in no way shape or form should the old ones come back… They should be limited edition to be owned by the priviledged few who were there for the original event and busted their tails to get it…
As somebody who got the staff last year I’ve got to say that that is a very selfish way of thinking. This game like any other needs new blood and when you deny new players a fair shot at acquiring a weapon they desire you’re effectively depriving yourself of their business. Time gated content is not a good approach.
I hate both. What I want is a living and organic world free of loot pinatas and forced progression. But I guess that isn’t likely to happen at this point.
Problem is: Nobody can define what is a “Living and Organic World” is in a video game.
Skyrim is usually used in most people example when I ask for it.
yet compare Skyrim to any modern day AAA MMO, but without the Multiplayer part. Actually MMOs now days have more vast and more content in their world than any single player open world RPG to date. Yet this “Living and Organic World” argument is thrown around. but what does it really mean?
and How would Raid Dungeons not allow that, but other features would?
It means a dynamic and ever changing world which reacts to the actions of the players within it. This is where Guild Wars 2 failed by relying too heavily on static content and raids are the worst of the worst when it comes to that. Spending your entire day rallying up people to retread the same old content you’ve done a million times before just isn’t particularly appealing. Can anyone still seriously claim that they go do Tequatl for fun?
I hate both. What I want is a living and organic world free of loot pinatas and forced progression. But I guess that isn’t likely to happen at this point.
Really hope that isn’t the Bloody Prince. He looks like a Hot Topic model.
Grasp really ought to lift the target up before pulling. Enemies getting stuck on flat ground is just silly.
It’s not an essential part of the ‘role-playing’. Otherwise it would have been called ‘level-playing’.
He’s also forgetting that there are tons of levelless RPG systems out there. Heck, Ultima Online did it for MMOs over a decade ago. Levels are not essential or even good. It’s just that players have been conditioned to want them.
Nope because I have no real drive to get one since they’re all hideous.
The reason why you cant just get rid of levels all together is because it gives a sense of progression and people like that . An MMO that doesn’t reward you for the time you put in wont last long .
What makes you think leveleling is the only way of giving people that sense of progression? In first person shooters it used to come from scoring new weapons and getting better at the game. I dare say that leveling provides the shallowest form of progression and that the real meat comes from acquiring new skills and unlocking new ways to play and experience the game. Levels only exist to offer a statistical boost which always leads to power creeping and I’m convinced that this genre would be far healthier without them. That’s why I’m so excited for EverQuest Next.
Got it by killing him by the pipes. Tried a lot of different strategies but only the pipe one paid off.
Instead armors have been removed from the game.
Remember Tribal? I do and I still want it for my necromancer.
This is sadly what happens when you have too much vertical progression. You cannot merge the concept of an open and living world with a rigid progression system which effectively locks some players out from participating. It’s a design error which will most likely never be fixed since the basic design of the game is conflicted.
I really don’t think we should trivialize the class issues too much. It’s obviously coming from somewhere and it’s not just people being kittens for the sake of being kittens. While I would personally never deny somebody a slot based on their class there is no denying that there needs to be some serious rebalancing.
Oh my gosh… That’s what you’re hung up about?
There is seriously something sad with your perspective.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the majority of players make use of Transmutation Crystals to swap around normal gear too. Not just skins. If you’re bummed out because all the gear you like is only the transient stuff, it’s your own misfortune for having such narrow taste.
And no, a completely personal disapproval is not validation for ANet to change things.
The majority are still happy with how things are going, INCLUDING where things look to be headed.Sorry kid, but you’re just the minority the marketing doesn’t give a —-- about, and there’s no fault to be given – The dev’s can’t make everyone happy.
There is something sad about wanting a wardrode system in which you unlock skins which you can then switch to whenever you want to as opposed to wanting to get nickel and dimed every time you want a change of pants?
And I don’t recall the majority ever electing you as their spokesperson. Must have missed the memo. Also, you might want to lay off with the petty insults. Pretty sure I’m older than you.
Again this is all for convenience. And what monetization are you referring to? I have not spent a cent of RL money on the gem store, all my gems I got from trading gold. That said, this has nothing to do with templates, the trait reset stones don’t let you save a certain trait setup, they just let you reset your traits on the fly. If you don’t like the item then don’t buy it, Anet isn’t cramming it down your throat.
Convenience. As if it somehow justifies everything.
The reality is that there is a time and place for monetization. You need to balance it carefully so it doesn’t infringe of the playability of the product and more importantly the level of fun your players are having. Once it gets to a point where the player feels like he needs to spend gems to have a good time… well, that’s about when your game dies.
Being too heavyhanded about this is just going to make people turn away. A far better way of doing business is to create quality cosmetic options and then charge your players for those. Issue with Guild Wars 2 is that, as I mentioned before, most of those cosmetics are transient and as such not really worth the dosh. I’ve not once felt compelled to purchase a skin since I know it would just mean another bunch of wasted bank slots. I have on the other hand spent a bunch of gems on minis, bank tabs and things like character slots.
People have been asking for a way to switch traits on the fly since the game launched. Sure, it’s for the sake of convenience but a lot of important things are. Fast travel for example. They could easily monetize that under convenience and yet I have a feeling that you’d be pretty upset if they did. This game needs to develop and become more convenient for the players to play and progress in. Locking all of these options behind some kind of paywall based on one time use items… yeah, I’ll pass on that future. It stinks.
Invalid comparison when in this game, plenty of stuff is completely permanent.
It’s not the cosmetic progression that’s an issue, you’re trying to make it an issue by associating it with temporary cosmetics.
The only permanent skins currently in the game would be the ones unlocked by achievements. Everything else is transient and that’s including those offered by the gem shop.
If you decide you don’t like your new look, then it’s your own fickleness that’s to blame at that point – or the fact you went and replaced your old gear instead of transmuting dungeon exotics or cheap crafted exotics like most players I know do.
You’re right. Curse me for wanting to wear different outfits. I do after all always wear the same outfit every single day in real life too so why should a game be any different. Curse my fickleness!
That was sarcasm in case you didn’t catch it. I really don’t think a proper cosmetic progression system in a game which advertised itself as being based on cosmetic progression is too much to ask for.

There’s nothing wrong with the current system, there’s no “proper wardrobe system” to be converted to – Just a matter of prioritizing your goals. Making gold in this game is not hard – The game is simply designed to make you choose.
Play DCUO. Maybe then you’ll come to realize just how absurdly wrong you are in defending this travesty of cosmetic progression. When nothing is permanent and everything is transient there really is no real progression to be had. And that’s part of why people are dropping the game.
Sure, I can grind those hundred golds and get myself some neat armor, transmute it and look real dandy. And then whenever I feel the urge to go back to my old rags I’ll grind some more gold and repurchase everything and once more shell out some gems for transmutation stones. Sounds fun? No, of course it doesn’t. Because it isn’t.
And the same thing goes for build templates. You can only make your players jump through so many hoops before it gets old.
(edited by Fungalfoot.7213)
I’ll just wait for the legendary armor and that grind. The ascended armor looks like butt anyhow.
They’re getting really dumb with the monetization. First we have the transmutation stones preventing us from ever getting a proper wardrobe system and now this. Build templates should have been in at launch along with a wardrobe. I guess there’s still hope of an expansion coming along and fixing everything but I’m more skeptical than ever.
I did not experience this problem at all. Had a lot of bugs happen to me at the last boss, but not on Oozes O_o you should probably report that.
That or did the person with the perfume on run away somewhere else? They stop following you if you’re too far away.
The AI has been this way since day one with it sometimes just zoning out. Just ask any ranger or minion master how reliable the AI truly is. Sometimes when taking the buff I haven’t been able to get the ooze to follow me at all. This usually fixes itself but it’s still annoying when you have to time it right.
That said, the point here is that your success should never depend on the AI. There’s a reason why escort quests are so loathed and this somehow manages to make it all the worse by having you escort a hostile AI. The event isn’t fun and it ought to be revisted because right now it sours an otherwise great dungeon experience.
look at my previous post. There’s nothing unpredictable about it.
I’ve personally observed the oozes following people without the buff rather than the people with it so I’m going to have to call bull on that. The fact that they retain their usual aggro mechanics means that things don’t always jive. The AI is known for being sluggish and the oozes are no exception. Sometimes they don’t pick up on the buff as quickly as they should.
Having pugged this dungeon successfully several times now I can safely say that the oozes need to be changed. When the most frustrating part of a dungeon is the very first puzzle something is off. I love the dungeon and the boss fights but the ooze event just isn’t fun since you’re forced to rely on the sometimes unpredictable AI.
Could some kind soul over at ANet please stop asura toes from clipping through all the boots? It looks terrible. Also, the waist on the light armor appears to be bugged with some of the heavier body types.
Making the oozes friendly would do a great deal to make the dungeon more puggable. It’s kind of silly to have the most difficult part of the dungeon to be a puzzle right at the start. Overall I really enjoyed it but something seriously needs to be done about those oozes. Escort quests are bad enough as is when you’re escorting friendlies.
Annoying content does not equal challenging content.
Indeed. And nothing is more annoying than escort quests. Except for escort quests in which you escort hostile targets.
I like the dungeon overall but the ooze segment needs to be fixed. Make the kitten oozes friendly and then I’ll gladly PUG this. As it stands I’ll only do it with organized groups.
Trying to do this content as a necromancer with a tagalong ranger is pure hell. When are we getting some semblance of PvE balance in this game? I’m tired of everything being designed around the damage capabilities of cutting edge warriors. No pun intended.
Yes, please. I’d love to use some of these pieces on my necromancer. We’ve got too much fire going on in the game as is and making this along with the Hellfire pieces dyeable would be a huge step forward.
Throw us a bone here, ANet. We’re seriously starved for more armor variety.
My biggest issue with her is that she’s sylvari and look fruity. I get that they’re still trying to sell us on the new race but enough is enough. A deranged giant norn who acts like a five year old would have been funnier.
He was just standing there.
In the middle of a community organized battlefield where he was disturbing the peace. His reason for doing this?
If he had some point to prove by interrupting this community event I think everyone in this thread would be more than happy to hear about it. If he was “trolling” to be honest judging by the way their moderators patrol these forums we have some serious double standards that need explanation.
His point seems rather obvious to me. You have no entitlement to the lands nor do you have the right to expel other players from participating. The objective of WvWvW is to slaughter your enemies. Not to bond with them over organized melees.
Ahhhhhh the ‘this happens all the time according to me’ arguement. At the end of the day what you are saying is people cant have fun, especially with a crappy matchup. TIME TO BURN OUT PLAYING FOR PPT GUYS.
You can go have fun in SPvP which was created for the sake of organized PvP. Nobody is stopping you.
And yes, WvWvW does have its fair share of issues but you’re not making things better by engaging in this nonsense and throwing the match. WvWvW also does not belong to a handful of guilds with overinflated egos. It’s a matter of server pride and if you can’t participate in that then you know what to do.
Another person that doesnt consider the score, the tick rate and the time the GvG went down. Well done for coming in blind.
This isn’t an isolated event. This kind of nonsense happens all the time in WvWvW and it just doesn’t belong. If you’re looking for organized PvP you’re in the wrong place and the ANet staffer was right in pointing that out.
For once I’m going to have to side with ANet.
If you’re not in WvWvW to compete on behalf of your server then kindly get out.
One of the most common complaints about the game is that the cosmetic progression is a bust and I can’t help but wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. The transmutation system needs to be sloped and replaced by a proper wardrobe system in which you unlock skins. My bank is filled with cosmetic items I’ll never get to use due to the sheer hassle of it all and I dare to wager that I’m not alone in that.
It means they have no real vision for the future of the game.
RNG is slowly but surely killing the game. The more I see people kill Teq and get absolutely nothing in return for their time the more I come to realize just how disillusioned the playerbase is with the game. Some folks have played since day one and still not managed to get lucky once. They’ve poured THOUSANDS of hours into the product with absolutely nothing to show for it because of RNG.
Sure, there are a few lucky souls out there who gets to feel a little bit extra special thanks to lucking out but in the end will they be able to support the game on their shoulders? I think we all know the answer to that question. RNG needs to be greatly dimished and players need to feel like they’re actually progressing. That’s the bottom line here.
Stronger means better and more interesting combat mechanics as well.
Numbers aren’t interesting. The games with the best combat mechanics around ( fighters ) have zero progression.
Cosmetic progression works just as well. This game just doesn’t have it. There is no incentive to go out there and collect skins since doing that just results in you having less bank tabs. You will never get to use most of those skins since changing out skins is such a convoluted process.
Give us proper cosmetic progression with a convenient wardrobe system to facilitate it all and players will be hooked.
While I can’t speak for anyone else I would keep coming back for those backpacks if there was a convenient way of switching out appearances.
Sounds like DCUO and I’ve got say that I was immensely addicted to gathering costume pieces in that game. I’d be all for them sloping transmutation stones and giving us a proper wardrobe system in which you unlock skins which you can then switch out whenever you desire but unfortunately I doubt they’re going to do it at this point. Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise me.
Anyway, vertical progression doesn’t mesh with the open world system because better gear trivializes old content. So short of ANet updating every encounter in the game when the next tier of gear arrives it’s just not going to work. Raiders are self-contradictory in this in that they request better gear while at the same time requesting for the difficulty of encounters to be raised.
They really should be account bound. I got the old one on my necromancer and now I’d love to move it to my elementalist and buy the bone one for my main but since I’m not given the choice I guess I’ll be keeping my gems.
Doesn’t make much business sense now does it?
One. There is no real motivation to level an alt since not even dyes are shared.
Yes, it should be instanced. As it stands this event brings out way too many random kittenkittens.
That said, I don’t think open world content should be easymode. It should provide a fair bit of challenge but it needs to be designed with the chaotic nature of the open world in mind. Organized raiding if done at all should be done elsewhere. This is not the platform for it.
Do not want. Instead I would like for the dungeons to receive some proper attention.
I vote for Fiveman Frank and more challenging content designed for smaller groups. Zerging is boring.
It already is dying now that a lot of people have gotten their titles. The rewards just aren’t worth the effort and the encounter itself is rather boring using standard tactics unless you’re on a turret. Standing in one spot spamming DPS just isn’t fun. Something needs to be done to fight the stacking tactic.
seriously? more back pieces? wtf is wrong with A-net?
Making armors means they would have to fit them on all the races. So yeah, backpieces and weapons.
Seems to me they should just do away with the soft cap entirely or at the very least allow players on that home instance to exceed it without having to resort to abusing join but that wouldn’t really do much for overflows.
