with this Argument you are ok if pvp rank gets reseted every new map .. or if they implement a new better mmr because you know everything is new and stuff… same for wvw rank when they introduce new mechanics because it’s changed the gamemode so all should start on equal ground from when the gamemode changed ( wich means wvw rank reset…)

if you ok with this ok.. but don’t complain about ppl who think this is unfair

If you polled the SPvP forum I’m pretty sure the vast majority of players there would be in favor of a rank reset due to what a joke the current system is. I know I would be. Would you prefer if ArenaNet simply left fractals to rot instead of dealing with the many issues present, progression being one of them?

1) Lack of world PvP. How cool wouldn’t it be with dynamic PvP events popping up in the world and mingling with the PvE action? I still hold out hopes for an expansion exploring this missed opportunity. Do something with the factions you’ve got. That massive event you ended beta with was some of the coolest kitten ever and I’d love to see more like it.

2) No dimishing returns on crowd control effects. Probably the biggest issue in actuality but I’m really keen on world PvP so yeah.

3) Unimaginative zone designs. The Mists is the biggest culprit here. You have a magical landscape you can change however you desire it and you make it rolling green hills and castles? Boooring.

4) Wardrobe system. There isn’t one. Why is that? Please let me change my pants without having to pay gems for it. It’s embarrassing.

5) Levels. I don’t think they serve any real purpose other than to lead you by the nose. I certainly wouldn’t miss them.

Zerging is the fastest way to cap individual objectives and get that WXP at the end. Unless the reward structure changes, none of the other things will matter.

That is what I’ve come to realize, yes.

You need to start rewarding individuals willing to excel over faceless zergblobs steamrolling everything. If you want to zerg that’s perfectly fine but you should not reap the same rewards as somebody who puts in way more effort than you. This issue isn’t restricted to WvWvW and ANet really should get working on some kind of contribution point system.

I do. We are having something taken away from us, so it’s only fair to get something back. ArenaNet did this for PvPers when they removed the qualifying points system and introduced leaderboards – why shouldn’t they do it here? Most dedicated collectors will have missed out on those PvP titles.

As far as I know every single title which has been removed from the game has been fair game prior to its removal. Not a one has been rewarded retroactively. This would change that.

And as has been mentioned previously it’s not as if ANet is stripping you of the rewards you reaped from doing fractals. You still have all that. All you’re losing here is the number since the old progression system no longer applies. To me it seems like a nonissue blown out of proportion in hopes of scoring exclusive digs and that elicits very little sympathy.

Fixing the rewards aside though, Fungalfoot and Reverance, what do you think of doubling supply capacity?

Since I run with a small group myself I’m rather biased and would obviously love having the capacity to take on bigger targets. It’s a bit of a pain to have a member run supplies while the rest of us guards the siege and pray that the zerg won’t spot us before the deed is done.

That said, from a rational perspective it might just be a bit too much to allow havoc groups to take out towers that fast. Maybe if they ramped up the other defenses a little and made the taking a slightly more involved and fun process? I think taking on a tower as a small group should be somewhat of a heroic feat.

Fungalfoot.7213

The solution to zergs is a simple one – you stop rewarding it. The less actual work you do as a player, the less rewards you should reap for it. We need a player performance rating system similar to what Warhammer Online offered.

This would make havoc groups enjoy far better rewards as they’d be doing far more work than any one individual in a zerg. Players would still be inclined to zerg because safety in numbers but zerging would no longer necessarily be the fastest way to rank up and get ahead.

People zerg because it’s the easiest and the most profitable way to WvWvW. Risk versus reward simply doesn’t exist.

And i’m the selfish one ? Jealousy knows no bound…

Dedicated collectors lose the chance at ever acquiring the title, possibly ruining their entire gameplay experience. While it would have been nice to have a title there from the very start I don’t think it’s very fair to start retroactively putting stuff in for old content.

Once more I’m going to refer to the people who got screwed over by the champion bag nerfs, by the Black Lion skin changes, by the Super Adventure Box rebalancing. These people got nothing. Why do you think you deserve something over them?

Interesting question. Would you care, really, if someone got a title for completing inferior and now defunct content? For that matter… would they even wear the title? Does it really affect your game if someone else is sporting a Fractal based title in any way?

Some people play the game to collect silly things like titles, minis and whatnot. And while I’m not all that into it myself I do think it makes for a more worthwhile form of progression than an arbitrary number.

There’s a difference between nerfing areas that were being abused (for want of a better word) and recognizing the achievements people made in content that is being removed.

Are you implying fractals weren’t broken and weren’t abused? Because that would be wrong. Sure some people might have made it to the top without abusing a single glitch but if I were to make a wager I wouldn’t bet my money on them being in the majority here.

1. How does a title and a t-shirt give them an advantage over anyone else?

2. What the heck is a “squish”?

It sends the message that their pain is somehow greater than the pain of the many people who have gotten screwed by previous nerfs. It offers them special snowflake status and that’s the wrong move to make here.

If you mean the living story ones – people knew in advance about said content getting removed.
Here we’re talking about rewarding content after it has been already removed.
Content that didn’t even give achievements for fractal levels, let alone titles.

This is a valid point. It would be terribly unfair to collectors if they threw in a title out of thin air and made it impossible for players to acquire it within a reasonable time frame.

No matter what they do here they will upset somebody. The best course of action is to simply let it be. I know I’ll be working on my levels as soon as the patch hits and I suspect the same applies to the most hardcore of fractal frequenters.

I think the word “compensated” is the wrong word. “Recognized” fits much better. Let them have a well earned title, an article of clothing, a hat maybe… who knows. I can’t see any reason whatsoever to deny at least some form of permanent recognition.

And what of the people who had their bags nerfed and lost hundreds of gold because of it? What of the people who redeemed skins before they were made tradeable and got stuck with non tradeable versions? What of the people who did SAB tribulation mode before they made it way easier? These players got nothing. Why should fractal players enjoy a unique advantage over all of them when they don’t even lose anything tangible?

This isn’t the first time something is changed and it won’t be the last. That’s just the nature of an MMO. You don’t see World of WarCraft players complaining about the squish happening with the new expansion. In fact, most of them are celebrating it. Instead of obsessing over losing an irrelevant number why not be happy that fractals are finally going to get fixed?

Bottom line here is that you’re still keeping all your material rewards. ANet isn’t going to yoink away your bags, your ascended gear or anything else you gained while doing fractals. You retain all of this. All you’re losing here is a number. A number which no longer is relevant since the fractal progression system is being retooled.

Personally I perceive ANet going in and nerfing bag drops as a far bigger issue since this left many people who had farmed out thousands of bags but not yet opened them completely screwed over. And these people got absolutely NOTHING. Nope, I don’t think anyone is entitled to anything over this. You got your rewards.

Yes, broken game mechanics. I’m not blaming the playerbase for this but the progression was completely broken and that’s why it’s now getting revamped. You’re losing your levels because you’ve yet to earn those levels in the new and fixed fractals.

You’ve still enjoyed the initial advantage of having those levels back when the content was easier. This isn’t being taken away from you. You’re just not getting a free ride with the new content and I frankly don’t see why you think you’re entitled to one.

Spectral walk isn’t really a viable escape method when being trained because you won’t be able to run away which is required to get any use out of it so in the middle of an engagement it’s useless except for the stun break. It is however great for hit and run attacks and I always slot it when doing WvWvW.

Wurm requires set up and is simply way too situational to be considered a reliable escape method. It’s also not considered a true teleport which makes it even less attractive as you have to keep your wurm out in plain sight where anybody could simply shred it and subsequently prevent your escape.

The skills are by no means bad but they do not help us get out of the kind of scenarios we need help getting out of.

You’re right in that it does absolutely nothing to hurt the potential of a condition necromancer. It does however hit hybrids hard. And this is exactly why this nerf is a poor one which should be revised. The oft complained about condition necromancer will still enjoy burning his victims down with impunity.

As a direct result of these misguided nerfs we’re pigeonholed into relying on Dhuumfire. This is how you kill build variety.

Actually, it is their job to make us happy. That’s how you retain a playerbase. Nonsensical nerfs like this one will only cause people to grow more dissatisfied with the product as a whole. It’s great that they are starting to become more open with the community but I fear it might be too late at this point.

I’ve played a necromancer since launch and I’m honestly just about fed up with all the changes. Maybe if it triggered at 50%. As it stands, however, you cannot shroud that low or you will die the moment you pop out due to that brief window in which you’re incapable of doing anything. Has there been any discussions on how to address that window? Now that damage overflows from shroud it’s pretty much impossible to stay alive once it drops since you can’t use any skills.

2k dmg over 4 seconds = 500dps

Compare that to the AUTO ATTACK of pretty much any warrior weapon… It’s painfully obvious why the balance of this game is so messed up now. The devs actually think that MoB and Putrid Mark are the 2 best skills in the game…

Have to wonder if they even play necromancers, engineers or rangers. Judging from the way they’re balancing things I’d wager not. Warriors have been dominant in PvE since day one and were recently made dominant in PvP as well. They have significantly better attrition than necromancers and blow us away in damage as well as crowd control. Where is the balance?

I have to wonder what exactly our role is anymore. I guess it’s to dump conditions from distance and hope nobody notices us? Sadly more and more players are starting to realize just what an easy target the necromancer is. Death shroud lacks any real intimidation factor and lich form is a broken joke which anybody can bunnyhop away from.

Thanks for the feedback. A lot of times, when running standard Necro condie builds, the bleeds actually do a large portion of your damage if they are allowed to stack on a target. Burning is nice, and Torment can be decent, and of course Poison brings down opposing heals. But the Bleeds are where a large amount of the sustained damage comes from.

We want to bring down that raw dmg but still allow the Necro the ability to “shut down” targets. Notice we’re not bringing down Chills much, or Vulns, or Blinds. We don’t mind the Necro shutting targets down, we just don’t want them also doing a ton of condition damage on top if it.

For Dhumfire and Terror: we have plans on reworks for those down the road, but they won’t make it in for this patch. We have plans for those, but they’re a little further down the “balance” road.

Thanks for the feedback!

While I totally understand wanting to decrease the condition pressure a necromancer is capable of I can’t help but wonder… why the staff? The staff is not a necessary tool to achieve that pressure nor is it a particularly good weapon on its own. You’d be hard pressed to find any necromancer using the staff as his primary tool of carnage so why nerf its damage potential when it’s already so lackluster? Surely there are better things to target if you want to reduce this pressure.

Ten gold that they’ll resolve the “Dhuumfire+Terror” issue by nerfing Terror and leaving Dhuumfire alone.

Seems to me like they intend to keep on peeling bleed to make room for Dumbfire. And then, yes, possibly nerf fear damage down to what they consider acceptable levels.

I’m mainly kitten ed because they went and kittened with the staff, myself. They’ve stripped that weapon of all its group utility and they’re now targeting the measly damage it outputs to combat builds which don’t even rely on it. It’s just baffling.
