A nerf to stability without a nerf to CC would just help the zerg out more, as they would overwhelm a smaller group simply on sheer volume of CC.

From my experiences crowd control makes for the best zerg busters. Right now small groups don’t have much of a shot due to AoE caps and stability. Remove the AoE caps and nerf stability and I can promise you that zerging would suddenly become a whole lot more unappealing to the masses.

Stability should work like aegis and only protect against one application. It also shouldn’t be stackable. Right now it’s just way too much of a no brainer.

The warrior mobility would be fine if not for their absurd defenses. But yeah, something has got to give here and the sooner ANet gets that one class can’t and shouldn’t have everything the better for the game as a whole. Are you warriors really happy with playing a crutch class?

I was very disappointed in WildStar. I didn’t think it was possible for a game to have worse optimization than Guild Wars 2 but it certainly proved me wrong. It doesn’t help that it looks like World of WarCraft. Come on, it’s 2014!

The Elder Scrolls Online on the other hand ran like a dream but I just couldn’t get into the gameplay. Guess I’m stuck here for a while longer. Still hopeful for EverQuest Next.

Which is a huge complaint Necros have seemingly had for an extremely long time.

We’ve always been superb duelists and one of the main issues when balancing the necromancer is how potentially overpowered shroud is in one versus one situations. Our big PvP issue is focus fire and absolutely nothing in this patch addresses that.

Condition damage should be nerfed and merged with power and conditions should be made to be a supportive way of dealing damage rather than a primary one. Splitting up damage stats was their greatest mistake here.

Fungalfoot.7213

Fix siphoning from the Death Magic trait line at the GM level? Maybe the Blood Magic GM will allow for siphon skills to replenish HP while in DS. Maybe we have no idea what the other GM traits are or what else is changing for traits, so “saying it like it is” is more “complaining with very little information”.

Plus, this trait is build-defining. You define your stat, weapon, utility, and other trait choices around it to help maximize its benefit, just like with Deathly Perception (for example).

Sometimes you have to step back and realize when you’re complaining for the sake of complaining without giving it a second thought. Rangers are trying to deal with some increased projectile speed on 1 weapon in their GM line, Necros finally get some sort of HP regeneration while in DS with a trait, and the Necros are fussing because it isn’t enough?

Is it really not enough? Have you tried it? You haven’t, and it’s a step in a direction people have been chomping for. A little “hey, that’s pretty cool” doesn’t automatically mean you’re a fanboy bending the knee to ANet’s lordship.

I’m not judging traits which we haven’t even seen yet because that would be foolish. I’m judging this trait and it’s just not worthy of being a grand master trait and them adding a blood trait which allows us to siphon in shroud will still not make it worthy of being a grand master trait. Be real neat if they did though!

The fact that rangers are getting an even kittentier hand dealt to them here doesn’t make this trait any better. To be honest, I’m not even sure why you’d bring that up when we’re on the necromancer forums discussing an upcoming necromancer trait. Nobody is arguing the fact that rangers have it bad, especially not me since I’ve rolled with one since the start. But yeah, this trait is still all kinds of kitten and I sincerely hope they rework it before putting it out there. The ranger one too.

When you say this trait is build defining I really have to question your logic since nothing actually synergizes with it other than straight up healing and if you sink your stat points into that I’d certainly hope it’s not because of a glorified regeneration. At best this is something you tack on for a tiny bit more survivability but it’s not even close to being capable of carrying a build. Suggesting that is purely delusional on your part.

You know, I’ve actually played the kind of shroud heavy build which will benefit the most from this trait for a long time now and while I will say that every bit helps there are adept traits which I would view as far more important than this one. That’s how off the balancing here is. This game is no longer in beta and it’s going to take a whole lot more than baby steps to fix things up and the fixing needs to happen soon or it’s just going to be too late.

I just don’t understand why all traits have to be over-the-top jaw-dropping half-court-dunking boomshakalaka to not get dumped on.

And even then, I bet someone would come and complain that it doesn’t work in their build.

It’s a grand master trait. It’s supposed to be awesome and build defining. At some point you have to stop cutting them slack and just say it like it is. This would have been an excellent opportunity to fix siphoning and make shroud a more urgent threat by allowing the necromancer to regain ground while in it and all they do is slap on regeneration and call it a day.

Hopefully the other traits will prove more impressive because this one feels like a dud.

How Can ANet Improve Average Player Skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fungalfoot.7213

Fungalfoot.7213

The issue here isn’t bad players – it’s bad design. If they started designing content which was more than zerg fests and DPS races this issue would resolve itself. I’d love a return to Guild Wars with companions, hardmode zones and all that good kitten but that isn’t very likely to happen anymore now is it?

And why would you support blatant gold sinks like foods and vendor buffs? If anything you should be calling for them to removed so ANet won’t balance the game around them anymore. Maybe then we’d see a bit more balance in WvWvW. The casuals aren’t going to pay up anyway so why even bother? There is no skill involved in passive buffs.

Wasn’t scaling of mobs/bosses to the number of people present supposed to be one of GW2’s big features? So much for that.

It was. Then mega guilds happened. Now they figure everybody can just join one of those and shuttle into overflows instead of doing the event on their own server as originally intended. This is exactly what is killing smaller servers off and they’re just letting it happen.

I hate to say it but this game has never been in a sorrier state than it currently is.

Blame the posters and players who drove the loot into the spotlight. It wasn’t about loot until the population in general decided to make it about that. Well, that and how awesome quaggans are.

The emphasis on loot came with ascended which I still view as the worst thing to have happened to this game. Sure, there were always proponents of that kind of progression but they were by no means in the majority.

But yeah, given how expensive and time consuming it is to fully deck out a character today the gold obsession is albeit unfortunate completely understandable. They bred this mentality.

A lot of people really don’t seem to realize what a massive impact this nerf will have on PvP. It will make Dumbfire applications super easy to negate by ANY class due to how telegraphed the blast is. You can forget about using Dumbfire against skilled opponents right now because it will not stick unless you’ve got a group to hold them down for you. Once you shift into shroud and start charging that blast they will know.

It kind of saddens me that instead of removing the trait and reverting all the nerfs it caused they have to wreck the entire class. I guess expecting them to straight up admit that they kittened up here and take responsibility is just expecting too much.
