then they should remove it and give us something else. or revert the nerfs that came after dumbfire.
They should just remove it. I’ve had enough of that awful trait and now that it’s destroying staff it has simply gone too far. Stop being stubborn and get rid of the blasted thing. Mistakes happen and this was an obvious one.
I can’t believe they actually nerfed staff. Joke of the century. kittening get rid of Dumbfire already and stop messing with the rest of the class.
It’s a krait hybrid.
Watch out, she may yet ruin the Grand Return of the Mursaat.
I hope she’s being manipulated by the Mursaat or something. That would at least explain her ridiculous amount of knowledge.
Does this mean… CoF flames getting option to be dyed soon?
This would be the best change ever.
And they can’t, cuz voice actors. They’d have to bring 10 people back to voice this stuff, and I can’t see them doing that for such a small ordeal.
This is correct. It’s the same reason why SWTOR recycled lines over and over and why fully voiced MMOs are kind of hard to create story content for. Voice acting isn’t cheap.
I feel for the ladies here. I felt the exact same thing with the Phoenix armor which looked shockingly underwhelming on males. This gender disparity really needs to come to an end.
One of the greatest feelings in an MMO is working your way through a difficult dungeon and then having a giant treasure chest filled with various trinkets waiting at the end.
I get that ANet has to make bank somewhere but I find that the lack of worthwhile rewards from actually playing the game is starting to hurt the experience. The current paradigm is that you grind gold and then you use that gold to purchase gems and finally you spend those gems on cash shop items.
Am I the only one who finds this model lacking? Even the creation of legendaries is just a matter of grinding out gold. Where is the adventure in this?
As a mechanic it encourages zerging over skill. It’s also completely unbalanced to the point of being a joke. If you get downed as a necromancer there isn’t really anything you can do to get back up on your feet. You’ve got one lousy fear and that’s it. The same applies to engineers.
Personally I’d like to see it be reshaped so that a downed player is incapable of using any skills and will simply bleed out unless other players pick him up. You should also only be allowed one down and simply die on the next. And upon getting rallied you should suffer some form of penalty.
This class has been stripped down to its steriotypical purpose: stealth and assassinate single targets.
Yes it has. Now ask yourself why that is.
Could it be because the class did those things all too well and instead of attempting to nerf those aspects of the thief ArenaNet targeted others? And really, I wouldn’t expect to wring any sympathy out of the folks you’ve happily trororolled for over a year now. As this thread has aptly demonstrated it just isn’t there. People hate thieves because thieves aren’t fun to play against. Nor are they fun to play anymore really. And that is a kitten ed shame.
The underlying issue here is that you all cling so hard to your instagib cheese that you can’t even see that it has been ruining the entire class since day one. Now you’ve been pigeonholed into one viable solution with no other options and once that finally gets fixed… well, what are you going to do? At that point the class will be dead. Killed by greed.
I’ve been looking for motivation to gear my own thief but I just can’t bring myself to do it as I full well realize that the only way to be viable would be to cast my dignity aside and embrace the cheese. The class is in an extremely bad state at the moment and we all know the culprit. Instead of constantly resisting change why not welcome a different take on the class as a whole? One which perhaps renders it more than just a one trick pony.
Food for thought.
your right it was probably 6 or 7, and if you see a massive chunk of your hp disappear you should probably dodge… and its more than fair, we sacrifice every last bit of defense to put into offense, tha includes all of our escape tools
I can sacrifice every bit of defense as a ranger, engineer, necromancer and so on and still not be able to pull off half the burst damage a thief can. Thief burst is just as broken as warrior survivability.
Edit: To further explain what is meant by “you can’t spam stealth and be glass cannon”: It takes investment in non-offensive traitlines to be able to spam stealth. What you most likely got hit by was a 3(4) signet thief. It literally takes dodging the 1 big hit and then auto attacks will kill them as all of their utilities are dedicated to offense and used in the span of about 2 seconds.
Let’s not kid anyone here, even when investing points in defensive traitlines a thief in full zerker still hit like a truck. Especially in WvWvW with ascended weapons. Stats are more leveled in SPvP and it isn’t as big of an issue there. It’s also kind of stupid to expect people to somehow magically dodge invisible attacks just at the right moment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Unless you have a lengthy evade or block your two dodges won’t get you far. In group fights it’s just not going to happen.
D/P is still grossly overpowered and one of the few builds capable of taking on warriors. The issue is that thieves have no other builds to turn to and are stuck with the cheese. The class does need some serious improvements but those aren’t going to come until D/P has been dealt with.
No dimishing returns on crowd control effects, insane bursts, massive condition dumping and ridiculous passive survivability are the four great offenders of the current meta. It all comes back to one problem and that problem is power creep. It’s time to wear the big boy pants and let that nerf hammer speak for itself.
Engineer can reach 800 hps WITHOUT the healing skill, just with bombs, regeneration from trait and regeneration from boon.
I said passively. Applying a boon is not passive. This all ticks without the warrior doing ANYTHING to actually make it tick. I don’t have an issue with regeneration builds since the regeneration can be disabled by stripping the boon. Short of the warrior actually being dumb enough to pop his heal there is no stripping this.
I’m pretty sure any class can tank 3 normal pve mobs with heals. Using the heal signet for the passive effect is a legit way to use a heal. It’s no different than any other class occasionally pressing 6. I saw a heal working as intended
What other class can passively regenerate almost a thousand health per second? Paired with the superior natural defenses of a warrior this is gamebreakingly overpowered.
I used to have huge respect for the warrior class. You could really tell when you met a skilled one and I believe it should have been a guiding light for the other classes, some of which were clearly way too strong for their own good. Now warriors are on autopilot. Sad.
Change it for sPvP, since for WvW and PVE it’s balanced.
-5 sec from CD, +50% heal on activate, -1/3 regen.
Do you really consider this balanced in any game mode? This kind of passive gameplay should never be permitted. Right now warriors are boring to play and boring to play against. And this issue isn’t exactly new, it’s just that it has hit a critical point now thanks to a plethora of other buffs. It used to take skill to survive out there as a warrior and now any chimp can just waltz into a throng of enemies and come out unscathed. They’ve allowed it to get to this point and now they have to do something about it.
While I do agree with removing food buffs due to how badly they screw with balance a warrior nerf still needs to happen and it needs to be a proper one. Can the old warriors who have been here since day one honestly say they’re happy that the class they’ve invested so much time into learning has now been effectively rendered a complete joke?
I like to think that there’s a point when something is so hideously overpowered that the people using it actually start feeling embarrassed about it.
Oh, you miss your earthshaker? No problem, not like you lose adrenaline or anything because that would be balanced. Keep on basking in those passive heals until it’s back up again you proud noble warrior you. Almost a thousand health passively recovered per second? That’s not overpowered. That’s just pure skill.
No other class can make mistake after mistake and still somehow magically end up on top. It’s broken beyond belief and everybody knows it. The players, ArenaNet and yes even the warrior population who sits on here all day long pretending they’re simply better than everyone else while facerolling away. But such is life in Guild Wars 2.
Diminishing returns on crowd control when?
Just make one until ArenaNet finally realizes it’s an issue and gets to fixing it. Hammer warrior right now is even more disgustingly OP than signet ranger was back in beta.
Some servers can’t even manage to do the Shatterer anymore. Hopefully ANet will eventually realize that strict timers just aren’t fun. There’s not even any skill involved in it, it’s just a matter of bringing out enough warm bodies and popping out embers to combat the ridiculous amount of health these bosses have.
I think they’re just desperate for gold sinks after all the duping and trade manipulation which has been going on since launch. Kind of sad that we all have to pay for the actions of a few bad apples instead of just having these individuals be punished for their selfish actions but I guess that’s the way it goes.
Though I would implore the powers that be to look into putting a higher emphasis on other currencies than gold. It would also be great if the best rewards were tied to personal accomplishments rather than any kind of currency which could easily be manipulated. I think we can all agree that the economy experiment has failed and that it’s time to bring fun back into the game. More farming isn’t the answer.
And as long as warriors are allowed to run rampant the numbers will only decrease. No thank you, I’ll spare myself the hammer train.
I’d kill to have the executioners armor on my asura. I really don’t understand why they insist on wasting these awesome skins like this. The game suffers from a lack of visual diversity and bringing all the town clothes into PvE would do wonders to cure it. And for those still citing immersion as a reason not to let us use the skins in real combat I’d ask you to consider the implementation of weapons like the silly scimitar.
Warriors have clearly stolen the nerf hammer and is now using it to beat everyone else into the ground.
Warriors used to be a joke of a class and now that they have some kind of use, everyone is crying foul. The only issue I have with warriors at the moment is the healing signet. Tone that down and the warriors will be in a better place. The biggest issue for the game’s balance atm is condition damage.
Joke class? They’ve reigned supreme in PvE since launch and now they reign supreme in every single style of play offered by the game. Something has got to give here. Just about everyone I know is rerolling warrior and if you go into SPvP or WvWvW you will find throngs of them with hammers at the ready. Their natural survivability is way too high to allow for the kind of control and damage they’re capable of at the moment.
The footfalls are ridiculously dumb looking. I find it funny how aggressive people are against the idea of using town clothes as armor due to that being immersion breaking and yet they’re totally fine with some dude leaving oil spills in his wake.
Just make dark path a flash as described above instead of a buggy projectile and I’ll be happy. As it stands the skill is kitten near useless. I agree that we shouldn’t be the kings of mobility but what little mobility we do have should at least be reliable.
Be nice if the clocktower chest had a rare chance of dropping one of the improved materials like cobs.
Looking forward to getting shouted at for actually defending Stonemist instead of just letting it flip for glorious achievements.
… Wait, flipping was already meta.
The sad thing here is that there is no distinction made between opportunistic serial transferers and server natives. Let’s face it, they kittened themselves into a corner by allowing transfers in the first place and this problem isn’t about to unkitten itself.
I remember them talking about how the game was a party and how everyone was invited. How they didn’t want queues like all those other nasty MMOs on the market. Oh how quickly things change.
Humans have permanently dirty feet and elbows. Just something to consider.
Stop playing if you’re no longer enjoying the game. When they see a drop in activity I’m sure they’ll be more receptive to changing their ways. Until that they will continue doing what they do.
No, there is no point. Might as well keep on farming champions and then buy candycorn with the money gained if you really need that ridiculously priced miniature. This is probably the most disappointing update to date.
They need to remove a zero from the cost of cobs.
Last year the drops were worthwhile. This year they’re not. Just look at the absurd candycorn requirements for the bag and the mini.
People are unhappy because they screwed up and made what was supposed to be a celebration into a grind from hell. They need to take all this criticism to heart and deal with the underlying issues. You’re doing them no favors here with your soft touch. What this game needs right now is tough love and plenty of it.
They ruined Halloween. I didn’t think it was possible but they somehow did it. Can’t wait to see just how bad the Christmas grind will be. Do they seriously not care about what is happening to the game at all? It’s frustrating to watch all the potential Guild Wars 2 has be so utterly squandered.
Tbh, all these “gather gazillion of x to convert to y to buy z” “events” are getting out of control and i’m seriously thinking of moving on to another game. I’m all for working for rewards but this is getting/is ridiculous. :/
Yeah, they’ve pretty much placed all the rewards at the end of some stupid grind instead of fun and challenging content. While I can’t tell them how to design their game I can tell them that I’m no longer really enjoying it. Grind has taken priority over fun and it seems as if they have truly lost their way.
They managed to ruin it by making things ridiculously grindy. I too loved it last year but now it just feels like a skinner box.
What happened to not making grindy games? They are so out of touch.
Just need to fix the holo aggro issues and make the gears destructible.
I doubt they’d be foolish enough to muck with the numbers right now but they’ve surprised me before so who knows.
They should make the ascended weapon chests tradeable. Either that or just have ONE chest with all the stat combinations available in it. They need to stop relying on RNG to enforce this grind. It’s making the game a needlessly sour experience and I can’t help but think that it will bite them in the kitten .
I don’t care if it’s greatsword or hammer but we need melee cleave.
