It doesn’t take me forever to kill people in an apothecary set, if anything I feel like I can burst someone down faster than GS, given the amount of conditions/pet dmg i can apply at once, especially with 25 stacks of corruption, 25 Masters Bond stacks and rare veggie pizza.

I’m currently going for my legendaries because I’m bored, so I had to farm 1mil karma and over 1k badges and I’m running my bunker build while zerging, it’s nice not dying constantly.

Except power/gs build will stalemate with more classes/builds than a condition one will.

However the added mobility of GS would be really nice sometimes. But hey I always have sword2.

Yes, compassion training boosts natural for you, not your pet. Also makes any healing they do via skills (fern howl, moa heal) or combos heal for more.

Second, the greater the difference between your armor and their power, the greater the percent of dmg you take. If I am not mistaken that difference is exponential, so depending on who you fight it could make a big difference.

But you can rock it with a SB. SB doesn’t need a single trait to be good. It’s just that good of a weapon. I like having it as a foil to my GS, some enemies I fight at range with SB others I fight in melee with GS.

Also no don’t go apothecary, expensive waste of time. In zerg vs zerg fights flanking can be too dangerous. SB is a power weapon, it just happens to have conditions you can use in certain situations.

Waste of time? I run apothecary and do fantastic, as do a few others . It’s a preference, there isn’t 1 way to play bunker, and how would GS be any better in a zerg vs zerg fight?

Bunker builds weren’t made for zerging in retrospect, even though you can and have great survivability, they were made for small skirmishes and roaming.

Anyone think shield block should have some sort of retaliation effect such as stun/daze/burning etc like all the pve mobs that possess a shield have?

I thin it would be a neat feature, allowing us to reccuperate faster after coming out of block and regaining an attack oppurtunity.

I’ve had one 17 minute long fight with an ele named Seviryn from Rekz on Ehmry Bay. It ended in a draw, pre-patch, I’d rather have an insanely good duel vs 1 good player a day and call it a draw, than steamroll through 97% of the player base as usual.

Of course it will be slow, new weapons would be game changers, and how things are addressed, they would have to take into consideration every single new trait etc that would go along with it, and how players that couldn’t use that particular weapon would fair against it.

You may actually get your wish, there are weapons called “polearms” popping on on numerous sites including Reddit, gw2db etc etc.

Zenith, you act like every single winter’s bite or skill axe has is dodged an entire fight.

Again, proof is in the numerous videos myself, and others including Faux have up on these forums. Alot of which were recorded before eles got hit harder in the condi cleanse department, and there are at least 2-3 fights where they are a non-issue in both of our videos vs all 3 classes you used as an example, they can keep cleansing, we can keep re-applying just as quickly. I have zero issue landing anything, as long as your timing is there.

Seems like another case of, “Well I can’t do it, so the class sucks, or that weapon sucks” etc syndrome.

Idk, honestly I dueled my guildy about 10x there was no way around it, he’d stack that might and his condition dmg would go through the roof, heals and regen just aren’t enough to counter it.

Only engineer I’ve lost to was an hgh engi, his condition dmg was well over 2200, but normally they are a non-issue, the regen/heals just could not keep up with the damage.

Whenever someone sees you running axe they know they can stay at 600+ ranger and crap on your damage since you need splitblade at enough a close range to get stacks, and the pet is easily kited with swiftness.

The ele I was dueling just simply walked out of the wolf’s knockdown because the wolf’s leap, like any leap, is reduced in travel distance depending on cripples/chill fields.

Axe requires too many things to go well to pay off. It’s good as a weapon to punish melee getting in your face, but that’s about it.

You’re probably one of those kids that is a fire and forget guy with his pet. I can gurantee you don’t swap pets in situations when you need a particular pet skill, judging by how easily your pet gets kited, and your lack of movement around a player that allows your pet to have constant access to your opponent.

Nope that pretty much sums it up. Axe/Dagger is superior for controlling an enemy, not too mention Sb untraited w/o piercing arrows etc sucks kitten.

I’d take axe/dagger over sb ina condition build that has low power anyday.

Ya, hes not reinventing the wheel, although he may feel like he is. And yeah, I haven’t had any issues with any class of any build so far till I dueled an engi in my guild, his condition dmg was over 2200, too much burst. Regen wan’t enough, win some, lose some.

It’s an elitist attitude thats present in spvp for some reason. I’ve seen GasMask out in wvwv get completely thrashed.

Condition isn’t only for damage. You can stack so many other conditions on enemies with a condition build that slow them down, lower their endurance regen, cause them glancing blows, stack vulnerability, etc. A lot of people don’t understand how strong these types of conditions are. You are essentially making it so your enemy cannot avoid your strongest attacks or pet while subsequently preventing them from moving, causing them to take more damage from pet, and do less direct damage to you. Condition weapons stack these more often than power-based weapons. By traiting for condition damage, you can more effectively utilize these weapons. That’s the real strength of apothecary builds.

Simply put, condition builds let you control your opponent. They are literally at your mercy due to the sheer number and frequency of conditions you can stack on them between your condition-based weapons and those applied by your pet.

I have yet to see where Apothecary is better in PVE/WvW. In tpvp, Apothecary (named shaman’s there because keeping names static makes too much sense) is one of the strongest builds rangers have available.

But in PvE, where bleeds stack to max on bosses, and without traps, rangers are a bit lacking in AoE sources against mobs.

Where as right now, I’m in a nice knights/zerker mix with ~3k toughness and power, with 50% crit chance and damage, with piercing arrows so I can strafe around mobs hitting multiple enemies, and power based so I can still be relevant against bosses.

So unless Apothecary has some use in dungeons (which I could care less about, and I doubt I’ll ever do a dungeon run), I haven’t seen any instance (outside of s/tpvp) other than maybe roaming in WvW (and personally I don’t play WvW for 1v1/small skirmishes, since I get enough of that in s/tpvp) where Apothecary outperforms my current setup.

It’s sad, because I love ranger regen builds. But I’m personally finding that it doesn’t equal out to me. Though that’s only my impression and I could be wrong, which is why I’m posting in this thread; I’ve been following it to see if it would compel me to splurge for Apothecary. But at this point, I’m still convinced I should hold off and keep piling up money, so that if something interesting gets changed next patch and a new build comes into play that’s fun/viable, I’ll have money to drop on it if I need/want to.

Obviously an apothecary build isn’t meant for zerg surfing and grouping, it’s meant for 1vx and skirmishing, which is why you prefer your sb setup, two diff builds for diff play styles.

All I am saying is it’s not hard to counter -% condition dur food buffs on other players, I carry Rare Veggie pizza just for that alone. In my video you will see me swap to it mid fight against eles/guards or anyone running a buff that attempts to counter conditions.

There is also a portion where my camera gets stuck while recording and I fail to move in time and eat a frenzy hb from a warr + a killshot and he stil gets stomped. Theres a counter for everything.

Apothecary gear regen build will not perform as good in WvW as in Spvp due to higher crit damage will out damage your regen and condition duration reduce food are real good counter to any condition build; as I understand thats a solo roaming build but a lot of good solo players in WvW use condition reduce food, you can beat bad players all day with any kind of build anyways. As I stated before It also will make you pretty useless in group fight, if you talking about general in WvW power build will be better for a ranger than condition build cuz that will make longbow aoe actually hurt, still if you insist on going trapper for choke point holding then you dont need that heal effect stats in WvW because if the zerg go through choke point you wont be holding your circle with you regen anyways not like in Spvp you can sometimes hold a 1v2 on point if you are a better player. So be careful on spending your gold on Apothecary gear in PvE/WvW

The kitten are you talking about? condition reduction food or not, conditions still faceroll players regardless of the amount of condition removal/reduction they run due to the constant re-application. I can stack 7 different conditions on someone not to mention keep a player weakened/poisoned an entire fight, now you tell me that this in itself won’t sway a fight outcome immediately.

Crit damage etc has nothing to do with it, regen outheals most conditions especially with close to 1800 healing. I can eat Eviscerates all day due to high toughness, the only class thats difficult to counter are insanely high condition engineers that reach 2k+ condition dmg since they negate toughness, and there aren’t many of those rolling around. And the only class I seem to draw with are boon guardians, and by draw i mean fight for 30mins and get bored and leave.

so don’t farm the flowers, farm the gold to buy the set of TP, all you need is armor/weps, then get the trinkets with guild commendations/fractals etc

I usually go with pets deal more condition dmg instead of crits, etc

I do extremely well in pve with a condi build outlined in link below, Can use life or corruption stacks. If anyone needs me to make a video soloing a ridiculous amounts of mobs or 80 champs with this build let me know, I’d be happy to do so.

Axe mh attacks were slowed waaaaaay down, I submitted a ticket weeks ago after I recorded my video.

Conditions will always be > power until some form of immunity timers are present in game. Power will only take you so far, theres no sustained, continous damage.

Let me stack 7 different condis on you at once while you try to power me down with sb, gs etc, we’ll see who melts quicker.

I run this in dungeons and do very well. Still high regen, lots of condition.

Mildly confused, how did you reach 38k? I put on full sentinel a few weeks ago with 30 def/tactics and only got 32k hp if that?

I just prefer this type of build to power/signet/zerk builds etc. Power will only get you so far, you blow your load and then what? It’s over for you, the name of the game is sustainment.

A lot of my friends like Faux, Puandro, Sarlack etc all run regen builds but are geared towards different goals, I prefer condition because it offers consistent damage, and I can keep a player weakened/poisoned an entire fight, which is massively overlooked in other types of builds, I’m more for consistent, reliable dmg that I can put on a player from a distance or up close, thats why I prefer this setup, there is literally no matchup with any other class/build out there that you dont have a counter to.

What should i go for constant p1 farming to be on par with zerk warrs etc that make me desireble for groups build/wep combo wise?
